The NAACP Shills For Michael Vick

I have a fairly low opinion of the NAACP, as I do with most groups that thrive on the `victim' industry...but I have to admit the NAACP has now hit a new and disgraceful low, to the point where no reputable person of any race would want to be associated with it.

I haven't reported much on the Michael Vick case, animal lover that I am, because the details are frankly sickening. So for those of you that don't know, here are the bare facts. This multimillionaire athlete had a little side business going aside from his football career...breeding and savaging pitbulls for use in illegal dogfighting.

As part of the `business', Vick financed, oversaw and personally participated the deliberate torture and savaging of these dogs, and the execution of those deemed `losers' by drowning, hanging, beating, shooting or electrocution.

He was busted for felony animal torture and originally planned to lie about it and had already started to play the race card. Then his attorney found out that one of his fellow subhumans, Tony Taylor had made a plea bargain with the feds which included an agreement to rat Vick out. Vick pled guilty the next day.

Enter the NAACP . The head of the Atlanta chapter held a press conference today to say that Vick's conviction shouldn't result in a lifetime ban from the NFL and that league and corporate sponsors should give him a chance to get back into the big money again.

"We should join hands as a team and recognize the fact that Mr. Vick is human, humans make mistakes, but we maintain that he is a redeemable human,'' said R.L. White, president of the Atlanta chapter of the NAACP. "And as a society, we should aid in his rehabilitation."

"Michael Vick has received more negative press than if he had killed a human being," White said in a news conference televised on CNN."We stand by the characterization that Vick has already been tackled," White said. "There's no need to keep piling on him."

Anyone want to bet that a hefty donation changed hands in exchange for this?

People tend to not look kindly on the sort of scum that abuse defenseless and blameless animals for their own profit and pleasure. Of course, I somehow doubt that this matters all that much to Mr. White and his ilk. Bidness is bidness.

As for Michael Vick, I hope that he's not only banned from football for life, but that he gets to experience first hand just a little of the abuse and pain he put those poor dogs through while he's in jail.

As a side note, Vick apparently made some overtures to the Canadian Football league about playing there if and when...and the Canadians, bless `em, told him to get bent. Here's hoping the NFL does the right thing by this sadistic sociopath as well.

Let's see how Michael Vick Likes It

Michael Vick did nothing wrong. What a man does in his own house is his own business as long as it doesn't harm other human beings. These anti-animal cruelty laws are ridiculous and a shocking infringement on our civil rights.

FF, you're a religious type of guy yourself, right? I don't proclaim to know everything about the Torah or to know how to interpret it, but I do clearly recall there being a passage saying that we should;

"Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth. And there was evening and there was morning, a fifth day. And God said, Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds: cattle and creeping things and beasts of the earth according to their kinds. And it was so. And God made the beasts of the earth according to their kinds and the cattle according to their kinds, and everything that creeps upon the ground according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. Then God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. And God blessed them, and God said to them, Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth."

This would imply that humans are above and command animals, right? So if Mr. Vick wants to have dogfights in his own home, who's to say that he can't? Again, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. Everyone should just get over this hysteria, ban this animal kindness laws nonsense, and get on with their lives.

Here's another aspect of this case that troubles me. If Mr.Vick had been accused of raping a woman, he wouldn't have received such a bad rap from the media as he did for holding dogfights. Kobe Bryant was accused of raping a woman, after all, and it was nowhere near as bad for him. They even let him play for the Lakers during the case! OJ Simpson actually killed a woman (his wife), and he's merely ridiculed for it!

It angers me to no end that we have let compassion for animals, especially dangerous ones like dogs , replace compassion for human beings. This circus must stop, and Michael Vick should be freed and allowed to play in the NFL.

And allowed to continue his dogfights if he wishes to.

Hi Nazar, How are you?

I couldn't disagree with you more on this one, my friend.

You don't address my point about the NAACP. so let's look at what you mentioned.

As far as the biblical thing goes,
`dominion' implies stewardship..not cruelty for the sole purpose of pleasure. This is one of the main
principles behind kashrut , the kosher dietary laws, which contain very specific rules for shechita ( kosher slaughtering of animals for meat) so as not to cause the animal pain.

The Torah mandates that domestic animals be given the Sabbath as a day of rest, and even forbids harnessing a mule and an ox to the same yoke, because the weaker, smaller animal would suffer.

Reverence for all life, even animal life is a basic principle found throughout the Judeo-Christian Scriptures.

Another thing you haven't considered.I used to have a pitbull, and I can testify to their strength and tenacity, as well as their need to be socialized so that they present no danger to humans in ordinary, non-protective circumstances. Taking a dog like a pitbull, a rottweiler or a dogo argentino and deliberately abusing it to make it savage is and should be a felony bust, because of the danger posed to innocent people if the dog escapes and runs loose. There was just such an incident a few days ago where a woman was attacked by two pitballs who escaped from their yard.

Finally, you picked two examples of celebrities that I think are poor comparisons.

Neither was convicted of the crimes you mentioned in connection with them. Michael Vick is guilty as charged. He blatantly lied to the commisioner of football and only pled guilty because he had no choice.

Lastly, regarding dogfights, cockfights and animal cruelty in general....aside from the morality involved, such acts became illegal for the same reason gladiator fights did - because of the harm such sociopathic and cruel pursuits do to society in general, desensitizing humanity to pain and suffering.

Think about it.

ps: Just to stir the pot a bit, I'll tell you that in my opinion, OJ was not the murderer, although he WAS involved and likely knows what happened. Click on my profile & E-mail me if you like for further specifics.
