Watcher's Council Results 2/01/08

The Council has spoken! A complete list of results can be found at the site of our fearless leader, the infamous Watcher of Weasels

This week the Council picked my post, Energy Independence -- What It Am And What It Ain't at Joshuapundit as the winning entry, my piece on the realities of energy independence, how to achieve it and why we haven't done so yet. Thanks, gang..I really appreciate it!

In second place there was an interesting three way tie between three posts on the same subject, the Soros funded `non-partisan' study of the Bush Administration's supposed misstatements in the lead up to the Iraq War. Sharing 2nd place honors were:

The Media, Richard Scaife, and the Never Ending Soros Connection
by Bookworm Room

About Those "Lies"
by The Colossus of Rhodey

And How to Lie About Lying
by Big Lizards

In the non-Council category the winner was ex -Council alumnus Dr. Sanity for her fine piece The Conclusion We Dare Not Face - An excellent and important examination of a topic that no one wants to discuss...is Islam compatible with a free society? And what do we do about it if it's not?

I would say that seeking an answer to those two questions comprise a major part of both the motivation and the content for this site, and I think the answer to one of them is fairly obvious to anyone who examines the subject honestly and recognizes that it's not a `one-size-fits-all' conclusion. As for the second, I think the answer lies in an insistence at home that those Muslims who want the benefit of living in a free society make certain changes in attitude and in their support for political Islam and in an insistence in our foreign policy that certain countries cease and desist trying to attack and corrupt our society by exporting political Islam here - or face the consequences.

In second place, we had another three way tie between:

A Moral Core for U.S. Foreign Policy
Hoover Institution

Be a Victim! Or Else!
Classical Values

and my own nominee, The Muslims of Europe Charter by another Council Alumnus, Baron Bodissey at Gates of Vienna.

Hearty congratulations not only to the winners, but to the rest of the entrants.
