Obama Ducks Out On Town Hall Debate

Obama has apparently ducked another debate.

This one was mostly buried by the dinosaur media.

As you probably know, the Obama campaign has refused to take Senator McCain's challenge to a series of town hall style debates before the American people, but there was one scheduled by CBS between the two candidates in front of service members their families and veterans sponsored by Disabled American Veterans, Military Order of the Purple Heart and the Military Spouse Corporate Career Network. The network had set aside two hours of prime time for the event..except only McCain agreed to show up.

According to Phillip Carter, director of Sen. Barack Obama's veterans effort, "While we unfortunately had a previously scheduled commitment on the date proposed, Senator Obama looks forward to continuing the dialogue he's been having throughout the country with veterans on how we can better serve our men and women in uniform as they serve us."

Both CBS and the veteran's groups involved reportedly offered alternative dates for the debate but got no response from the Obama camp.

Carissa Picard, managing director of the Fort Hood Presidential Town Hall Consortium, claims she had asked the campaign to suggest other dates if August 11 wouldn't work, but got no response.

“I’m having extreme difficulty getting the Obama campaign to commit to this event, and we do not understand why,” said Ms. Picard, whose husband is deployed in Iraq. “We made it very clear to them that if they would commit to the event, we would work with them on dates.”

I can understand why, I really can, having heard what Obama is like without a teleprompter.

Obama `08...the audacity of waffles.

I wonder if Obama will find a way to skip the the presidential debates. I'm sure such a thing would be to obvious. I suspect his friends in the media will give him an advanced copy of the questions so his teleporomptrers can assist him while McCain will not be given the advanced copy.

In any event, McCain will destroy Obama in the debates, however, few people actually watch the debates. They wait on the mian stream media to tell them who won. The main stream media is in firmoly in the camp of Ibama. I think we all know how they will spin it.

In no way shape or form is John McCain a viable candidate for president of the United States. Sarah Palin is nothing more than an unplanned parlor trick which will backfire tremendously in the upcoming weeks. Of course she wants to drill for oil, her hubby works for BP!!! Sans teleprompter, Obama will still ruin McCain in the debates hands down. Answer me this, what will McCain do for this country that Obama won't???

  4. Hello Anonymous,
Unfortunately, you rcomment makes little logical sense.

If Obama is such a mighty debator, why not agree to meet McCain in a townhall type setting? Fact is, he's not, as Saddleback proved. As a matter of fact, wothout a teleprompter and a carefully scripted setting, the On eis fairly inarticulate, as we've seen many times.

As for Sarah Palin, the fact that she has expertise and knowledge of energy issues is something most Americans find an asset. I understand you don't but most of us do.BTW, I sincerely hope the dinosaur media keeps attacking her and her family as they have been. As Rasmussen polls revealed, most Americans realize that the dino media is nothing more than a branch of the Obama campaign, and with every slur their credibility goes down and Palin's support rises.

Lastly...what will McCain do for America that Obama won't?

    a) Promote a strong national defense and a proactive foreign policy.

    b) bring years of accomplishment and experience to the White House

    c) Energize the economy by cutting spending, lowering taxes and promoting energy independence.

    d) Appoint sensible judges

    e) Promote honesty and curtail Chicago-style cronyism in Washington.

There's a lot more, but I think you get the drift.

    Regards,

    ff

  6. Thanks for your response, Anonymous.

It's rare that I get a post with such clarity, depth of thought and factual rebuttal here on the site.

    Thanks for setting me straight.

You're obviously as much of a killer debater as Barack Hussein Obama.

Freedom Fighter, you said "the fact that she has expertise and knowledge of energy issues" could you please provide something to back that up?, links to something factual (state page with details, a paper she has written or bill she passed would be great)

I am a hardcore republican, and am so pissed off by the blatant lies that have been coming from my party I will vote some other way, maybe independent maybe Obama, but dammit I can't deal with lairs. (comments my Pailin on obama's congressional bills, McCain on religion and taxes) And MudderFing Gawddamit McCain just backed out of the normal presidential Debate today to work on the bogus rich man bail out plan (that bail out pisses me off so fing much) what the hell! I wanted to see what they actually have to say with out the one line wise cracks that we hear all the time, some real meat - PLEASE!

As far as what Governor Palin knows about energy, use the net if you're that challenged on current events.

Oh, and one more thing..if you're that silly as to think McCain 'backed out' of th edebate Friday, you might want to read this.

    Unbelievable.
