Far be it from me to deprive you of scenes of another one of the world's great parties, now celebrating its 201st birthday - Oktoberfest in Munich:
Beer, pretty girls, and a party setting. What more could you ask? This goes on for sixteen days, until October 3rd.
A merry go round in front of St. Paul's Church. Hopefully the riders can hold their beer n' bratwurst, if you know what I mean.
So what's this all about? Well, a wedding actually. Back in October 12, 1810 Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig married Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen (try to say that ten times quickly) and their loyal subjects decided to throw a party in their honor with the finest grub and grog, ending with horse race on October 17th. This coincided with the sort of traditional harvest festivals common to many cultures ( and was loads of fun besides) so a tradition was born.
The ”Oktoberfestbiers” served are the same beers that have been served at the event in Munich since 1818, and are supplied by 6 breweries known as the Big Six: Spaten, Lowenbrau, Augustiner, Hofbrau, Polaner and Hacker-Pschorr..ooh look, here comes some now:
How things look after a few recitations of 'eins, tsvi supfe!'
Some good friends sharing a few drinks and a moment..
Das Poleitzi, to make sure everything stays semi-civilized...
Now that's one really happy German!
And of course, after the festivities, it's always nice to take a rest and sleep it off a bit before returning to the fray...
Glücklich Oktoberfest!
you should avoid chazer sausages anyhow
ReplyDeleteDamn, I wanna be there!
ReplyDeleteHello Lufthansa? So their ancestors slaughtered a few million Jews. All is forgiven. There is nothing quite like a 20-something blond German girl with 36 Ds...tsvi Dinklaker bitte!
