Zimmerman: Not Guilty!!
The George Zimmerman Trial was nothing less than a lynching, where the power of the state was co-opted by a president. the Department of Justice and an openly biased media to subvert justice on the basis of race.
Ultimately, justice triumphed, at least for now.
Zimmerman was acquitted of all charges by the six member jury, or as the AP hastened to tell us, "an all white jury except for one person."
Even a last minute ruling by Judge Nelson made after the defense rested to allow the jury to convict Zimmerman of manslaughter instead of second degree murder failed. And in that, Judge Davis is fortunate because of any number of examples of bias and reversible errors on her part that would have surfaced in an appeal.
To convict Zimmerman of manslaughter, the jurors would have had to believe that he "intentionally committed an act or acts that caused the death of Trayvon Martin."
For second-degree murder, the jurors would have had to believe that Martin's killing was "done from ill will, hatred, spite or an evil intent" and would be "of such a nature that the act itself indicates an indifference to human life."
Ultimately, they believed neither, because the prosecution had no case and was reduced in final arguments to cynically playing the race card. And the jury ruled according to the evidence, that clearly indicated that Zimmerman was acting in self defense and in fear of his life. So they acquitted him, in spite of what must have been enormous pressure.
As you can imagine, the usual suspects weighed in.
I still can't help chuckling, just a little bit, when I hear a creature like Rev Al referring to anyone else as a racist and a liar.
The aptly monikered Benjamin Jealous of the NAACP hit a lot of the same notes, urging Eric Holder and the Department of Justice to charge Zimmerman with violated Trayvon Martin's civil rights. In fact, as I revealed over a year ago, the DOJ started working diligently to put together such a case. These efforts were pursued as a backup probably from the moment the DOJ began orchestrating the 'justice for Trayvon' protests and pressuring the State of Florida to name a special prosecutor. That case is almost certainly ready to go now, and regardless of its merits I'm sure AG Eric Holder will use taxpayer dollars to bring it to court.
There's been some noise about a civil trial, but Zimmerman lacks the assets that would make it worthwhile for legal piraƱas like Benjamin Crump.
Death threats were alive and well on Twitter, even, apparently, from an NFL player.
The 'kill George Zimmerman' movement is pretty out in the open, and it has been since his mother, who kicked him out of her house two weeks before the shooting trademarked his name and started marketing tee shirts, hoodies and other accessories.
Does anyone still doubt this was an attempted lynching?
This was and continues to be an attempt to pervert justice on racial grounds using the full power of government. If George Zimmerman was black and Trayvon Martin was Hispanic or white and every other detail was exactly the same, this case would never have even come to trial, let alone received the biased media attention it did.
And it isn't over yet.
George Zimmerman may have avoided a murder conviction, but in the famous words of Barney Greenspan to Lieutenant Maryk in Herman Wouk's The Caine Mutiny , Zimmerman is only half acquitted.
He walks out of the courtroom bankrupt, jobless and with all of his personal details, even his home address and Social Security number leaked to the world on live TV thanks to CNN.
Filmmaker Spike Lee attempted to tweet Zimmerman's home address during the DOJ assisted protests before Zimmerman was indicted in an attempt to facilitate some 'street justice', but got the wrong address and ended up having to pay some money to the terrified retired couple who were menaced by a number of thugs as a consequence. Thanks to CNN, Zimmerman and his wife are essentially homeless now. And vulnerable, since he lacks the funds to pay for private security.
Where he's going to get money to defend himself against the civil rights case that will almost certainly be announced shortly by the Obama Department of Justice is an open question. Needless to say, no one at the Department of Justice is concerned one iota over the serial violations of George Zimmerman's civil rights.
One person suggested to me after his acquittal was announced that Zimmerman's best bet would be for he and his wife to leave the country immediately. The only problem there is that he'd have to find one that lacks an extradition treaty with America, and few of those countries if any are willing to accept a penniless refugee.
Yes, we're seriously discussing someone having to flee the U.S. after being acquitted of any wrongdoing.
That's how it gets when you take a turn in the media spotlight as the Enemy Of The People. Your life and your dreams end up being destroyed, unless you're very lucky or crafty and savvy enough to figure out how to fight back effectively.
Just like the olden days, but with the races reversed, the KKK replaced by the NBPP, etc...
ReplyDeleteUtterly disgraceful.
Just watch, Holder will try and stir up something. He's as bad as racist Al Sharpton.
