Watcher's council results, 7/6/07

The Council has spoken! A complete list of results can be found at the site of our fearless leader, the infamous Watcher of Weasels

This week, my fellow council members once again saw fit to honor my efforts...and as always, I'm very grateful for that honor, given the talent in this group. The winner this week was JOSHUAPUNDIT:Guess Where Your President Was Wednesday Morning... Insh'allah The morning before the amnesty bill went down in flames, our wartime president took time off from trying to shove that puerile legislation down the country's throat to kick his shoes off and attend a high profile outing at a wahabi outpost within spitting distance of the White House.

And while he was assuming the position at the mosque podium, he announced that he would do something so astounding, in view of the jihad ideology that comes out of places like this that it literally turns the stomache.

When it comes to radical Islam as exported to America by some of the President's `eternal friends',the president continues, unfortunately, to say one thing and do another.

This hypocrisy has been noticed by both the American people and our enemies, and has a great deal to do with the status of our war effort, the mood of the country and his current unpopularity.

Where did President Bush go, who was there and what amazing thing is he proposing to do? Read and find out.

In second place, we had a four way tie, which should give you some indication of the uniformly high quality of Council offerings. In second place were:

Callimachus:With Snark Cal's very well written definition of the word `snark'..and his disgust with it and with the current state of political discourse in America. Congrats Cal!

EdWonk: This I believe Edwonk's well done, concise and to-the-point political manifesto in honor of Independence Day..congrats, EdWonk!

Bookworm Room: Condescenison as Racism In this piece, the always scintillating Ms, Bookworm does a superb job of using the recent Democrat debates to unmask paternalism and racism as done by the Left. Well Done, BookWorm!

And last, but by no means least,Cheat Seeking Missiles: Quote Of The Day: Islamophobia Edition In which Laer takes on the UK bombings and PM Gordon Brown and co's unbelievable reaction.

To be honest,it rather reminds me of Cal Thomas' bit on radical Islam that so enraged CAIR: `If we're dealing with a slow moving cancer, do we ignore it until it becomes a fast moving cancer or wouldn't you rather have it removed right away?'

Or as Laer writes, what makes more sense? Waiting for the moderate Muslims to come forward? Or simply realizing that our `Islamophobia' and suspicion about things Islamic is justified because of the violence they seem to be addicted to?

Congrats to Laer for an excellent piece of writing.

For non-Council, the winner was Michael Yon: Bless the Beasts And Children ..once again the man who is arguably America's best war correspondant writes a superb piece on what our warriors found when they liberated a village that had been taken over by al-Qaeda.

I had linked to this previously on JoshuaPundit, and it's a superb example of the way the dinosaur media is mostly in the tank( and in some cases,on the side of our enemies) when it comes to our war effort. They are far to busy publishing daily causualty lists to touch something like this with a ten foot pole, and they ought to be ashamed.

In second place for non-Council was Understanding Current Operations in Iraq - Small Wars Journal In which the always worth reading Small Wars Journal dissects what General Petraeus is hoping to accomplish in Iraq.

Hearty Kudos to all the winners!
