Murkowski Concedes Alaska Senate Race
"...for the good of the State of Alaska ( and because I've got no wires left to pull)."
That means Tea Party favorite and Palin endorsee Joe Miller is almost certain to win the seat, in a major upset.
Murkowski claims she was never the RINO she was painted as. We'll find out when we see whether she endorses Joe Miller.
FOX's Gretchen Carlson Catches Obama Spokeshole Gibbs In A Naked Lie
As Obama prepares to tell the world he knew all along what a great idea the surge was..
Notice too how obnoxious, condescending and and rude Gibbs is.He's the perfect mouthpiece for this administration.
Oh, and to answer the question she asked since Gibbs wouldn't answer...Obama didn't credit Bush for anything...except a left hand reference to no one doubting Bush's ".. support for our troops, or his love of country and commitment to our security."
He couldn't even bring himself to acknowledge that President Bush made a hard decision (over rabid opposition by Obama and his fellow Democrats) that enabled Obama to withdraw our troops gracefully.
Classy.
A New Must Read - Mitchell Bard's 'The Arab Lobby'
Think Israel has the most effective lobby in DC? Think again.
As my regular readers know, one of the main themes here at Joshuapundit is the pernicious influence in America of the House of Saud and the other members of the Arab Lobby. They've spent millions to infiltrate academia and take over America's mosques and madrassahs to push their virulent brand of wahabi Islam, and they've suborned State Department functionaries and even elected officials with business deals, consultant fees , honorariums, and retainers...not to mention funding 'foundations' and even presidential libraries.
Dr. Mitchell Bard runs it all down in a superb new book, The Arab Lobby:The Invisible Alliance That Undermines America's Interests In The Middle East
Dr. Bard shows exactly how the Arab states manipulate America's MidEast policy through what I've always called the Arab 'government employee pension enhancement plan.'
Behind the scenes, the Arabs, particularly the Saudis and the Gulf States pay former US officials, subsidize think tanks, media shills, and academics who hold chairs paid for by Arab money. And these sources are frequently quoted as experts on the Middle East - without revealing their financial ties to the Arabs.
As a consequence, the Arabs have been able to drain billions out of America's economy to enrich themselves, fund groups that subvert America's democracy, affect US policy and to get America to defend them..often at cross purposes with our own foreign policy goals and domestic needs.
Well written and packed with information, I wouldn't be surprised if this became a seminal work on this subject. It will inform, anger and hopefully mobilize you.
Highly recommended.
Full Disclosure: This is in no way a paid review, but I'm a fan of the author's previous works and we've corresponded before.
Four Israelis Murdered By 'Peace Partners'
Déjà vu all over again as Yogi Berra once said...when Israel maintains the checkpoints and claps down on the 'Palestinians' they have no terrorist attacks. When ever they make concessions and talk peace, the attacks commence and there are dead Israelis who pay the price.
Two men and two women between the ages of 25 and 40 - one of them pregnant - were murdered in an ambush by 'Palestinian' terrorists on Route 60, near the Bnei Naim junction, south of the Judean (AKA West Bank) community of Kiryat Arba.
One of the couples who was murdered left seven children...Hashem yerachem (may God have mercy upon them).
The Israelis were fired upon as they drove down the highway. Preliminary reports showed the gunmen approached the vehicle after it went off the road, pulled the bodies from the car and shot the victims multiple times at point-blank range.
"The vehicle was sprayed with dozens of bullets," a paramedic at the scene told Channel 2. "There were numerous shell casings around. We found four bodies and there was no chance whatsoever to help them; all we could do was to pronounce the death of these four Jews."
Paramedic Guy Gonen told Ynet: "The victims were hit by numerous shots from short range. It looked like a well-planned ambush."
I wouldn't be surprised to find out that some of those weapons supplied to the 'Palestinians' by the US were involved. Again, it wouldn't be the first time.
The Kiryat Arba-Hebron area has been the scene of numerous concessions to the Palestinians on dismantling checkpoints as a run up to peace talks. The killers were easily able to position themselves. Frankly, the Israeli government should have known better. The IDF is now playing catchup for the politician's blunder by putting a cordon around the area in an attempt to catch the murderers.
Both Hamas and Fatah's al-Aksa Brigade originally claimed repsonsibility but Hamas military wing spokesman Abu Obeida told The Associated Press late Tuesday that Hamas carried out the attack, and speeches from loudspeakers at mosques in the Gaza Strip celebrated news of the attack. It could very well have been a joint operation between Hamas and elements of Fatah.
Our State Department?
“Any time one human being takes out a weapon and fires and kills other human beings it’s a tragedy,” said State Department spokesman PJ Crowley.
Just an unfortunate accident, like someone who dies in a car wreck or a hurricane or something.
The important thing now is what Bibi Netanyahu is going to do.
I doubt he'll do it, but I agree with Jennifer Rubin. Netanyahu ought to immediately suspend talks and return for the five funerals...and then seriously consider if he wants to continue this farce.
Abbas has already said that unless the building moratorium is extended past the September 26 date including in Jerusalem, he's going to fold the talks anyway and Netanyahu isn't going to be able to do that politically. So there's not much to lose.
And aside from being the right ting to do, coming home to mourn the latest murder victims of Israel's 'peace' partners would definitely refocus things. And Hamas needs to suffer major pain for this, since they so cheerfully acknowledged responsibility.A strike on Gaza City that takes out a few blocks, preferably in neighborhoods where the leadership lives would send the proper message, I think.
If I sound angry, you should have seen me a couple of hours ago.

UPDATE: The victims ' names are Yitzchak (47) and Tali (45) Aimes, Kochavia Even-Haim (37) and Avishai Shindler (24)(HY"D).Talia and Yitzchak Aimes left behind 6 orphans (ages 1.5 - 19). Kochavia Even-Chaim left behind a daughter (age 8). ( hattip, The Muqata
There is absolutely no reason for something like this to ever happen again.

Baked Alaska.. er.. Murkowski
Life's funny...
One day, you're a nice establishment connected RINO incumbent in a solid Red state all ready to waltz to re-election in the Senate seat daddy appointed you to.
And the next day, some Palin-backed conservative tea partier named Joe Miller comes out of nowhere and pulls off an upset.
That's pretty much what happened to Lisa Murkowski, the incumbent in Alaska as Miller edged her in the Republican primary.
The absentee ballots are still being tallied up, but Miller is ahead by almost 1,700 votes, and Murkowski's people no doubt told her that closing the gap was a pretty big long shot.
So she decided to explore pulling off a Charlie Crist and running as an independent.
According to Alaska's laws, if she loses the GOP nomination she has two options ( aside from trying to queer the vote count). She could either run as the candidate for an established party, with the Alaska Libertarian Party being the only realistic choice...or she could pursue the expensive and difficult write in route.
Since the Libertarians already have a candidate, Murkowski's next move was to clandestinely offer herself to the Libertarians to take the place of the Libertarian Party’s nominee, David Haase.
Except..the Libertarians sat down and had a meeting in somebody's house this morning, talked among themselves and decided 'thanks, but no thanks, Senator.'
“We have decided that we will not offer the nomination to Lisa Murkowski for the Senate seat, even if came to that, because of fundamental differences,” said Alaska Libertarian Party Chairman Scott Kohlhaas.
Kohlhaas was a gentleman about it and claimed that Murkowski's campaign had never approached them, but lets just say say fairly reliable sources tell me different.
Kohlhaas cited several of Murkowski’s votes in Congress and in the state legislature as reasons for the party’s decision. He said Murkowski’s votes in Congress in favor of a bank bailout and authorizing the war in Iraq were contrary to his party’s principles.
“She’s a nice lady,” Kohlhaas said. “We wouldn’t tell a sitting senator to get lost. But we just had to let people know.”
Based on the above photo, Senator Murkowski now knows too.
The only thing left for her is to try and tweak the results. As Dan Riehl reveals, her campaign already has been involved in such doings.

'Progressives Need A Palin Of Their Own?'
This piece in the New York Times made me absolutely cackle..which is a good thing, since we've got some fairly heavy items to get to later.
It consists of Anna Homes and Rebecca Traister, a couple of self-styled feminists and progressives absolutely livid over the fact that the Democrats 'have done nothing to stop an anti-choice, pro-abstinence, socialist-bashing Tea Party enthusiast from becoming the 21st century symbol of American women in politics.' Presumably by the Democrats failing to come up with their own Sarah Palin, only one that will stay on the Democrat reservation and be a Good Girl.
What really apparently frosts them is that they see Sarah Palin's success as being a gift courtesy of 'rights' bequeathed to her from feminist progressives...and one Governor Palin has craftily misused against them. Horrors!
Compassionate man that I am, I've decided to take it upon myself to explain to the ladies exactly why a progressive Sarah Palin would be an impossibility, and why it's almost certain they would absolutely hate it if it happened.
Sarah Palin's success and ascendancy is not due to anything feminist progressives or anyone else gave her. She is a product of her own grit, discipline, determination and mad political skillz, and the fact that the authors of this piece are unwilling to give her credit for that unfortunately reveals them as the anti-feminists they actually are.
In fact, here's an ugly little secret - the rights they're talking about didn't come from feminists, but from those Evil White Males they undoubtedly despise, who crafted legislation and voted for equal rights for women because they thought it was the right thing to do. Let's not forget that the first US State to give women the right to vote was not a 'progressive' state back east but rock ribbed, conservative Wyoming...who also elected the first female governor, Nellie Taloe Ross.
Conservatives respect individuals for their achievements and abilities. The Left thinks of them as members of a group.
Sarah Palin became governor of Alaska by taking on the entrenched establishment of her own party and winning against the odds. And after she was on the losing end of the 2008 election and was hounded out of office in what amounted to a conspiracy to destroy her, she started from scratch and built herself what amounts to a political machine all her own by taking on that the same establishment. And she's winning, on her own terms.
There's no way any of this could ever happen amongst 'progressives'.
The Left prizes orthodoxy and groupthink above all things, a legacy of its Stalinist past. And since the Angry Left took over the Democrats, nobody challenges the party establishment, its identity politics or its tenants of faith. Can you imagine, for instance, a female Democrat coming out against NARAL's position on partial birth abortion? Or calling for legislation to rein in frivolous lawsuits? Or supporting Arizona's SB 1070 on immigration? Such a politician would be demonized and destroyed, regardless of her feminist credentials.
This groupthink is so ingrained that even male politicians who are serial abusers of women - Bill Clinton comes to mind - get a pass from progressive feministas provided they're down for the agenda.
Part of Sarah Palin's appeal is that she lives dangerously and has had no problem taking on the GOP establishment. That would simply be impossible for anyone mired in the Church of Progressive orthodoxy.
Another problem with the Left coming up with its own Sarah Palin is the construct of the Democratic party. It is based on ethnic and gender identity politics, grievance mongering and special interests . And in many cases, not only do the aims of some of these groups actually conflict but involve constant competition over who's the most worthy to receive the spoils and goodies.
We saw a prime example of this in that same 2008 campaign where Hillary Clinton actually ended up winning the large state primaries and the majority of actual state delegates only to get robbed of the nomination by the superdelegates and party big shots and handed to Barack Obama...because, among other things, the Democrat powers that be felt they couldn't alienate the black vote.
Conservatives and the GOP indeed have their factions, but they have largely avoided division on these lines. Which means that a Sarah Palin can garner appeal across a number of factions...not just because she's a woman but because of who she is and what she's accomplished.
Sorry ladies. Sarah Palin couldn't exist in Progressiville. And that's actually pretty sad.

Beck Versus Sharpton ...Whose Dream?
Today saw two diametrically opposed rallies in DC...one by FOX News and talk radio personality Glenn Beck dubbed the Restoring Honor rally and another by 'activist' Al Sharpton designed specifically to counter Beck's rally called 'Reclaim the Dream.'
The name of Sharpton's rally comes from the fact that today was the anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's famous "I have a dream " speech.
In view of that, it's worth looking at what occurred at the two rallies and the speakers who were there, the nature of the media coverage and most importantly, which rally best mirrored the ideals espoused by Dr. King.
Beck's event was deliberately non-political in nature. He focused on honoring America's military, calling on the nation to revitalize its religious faith and honor the principles on which the country was founded.
It was also a charity event that raised $5.5 million, for the veterans' charity Special Operations Warrior Foundation.
The speakers included Beck, Cardinal's star Alfred Pujols, Sarah Palin and Dr. Alveda King, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s niece.
The message of all of the speakers was largely religious and patriotic in tone, with little or no political content.
There were references during the rally to Mr. King's famous appeal in 1963 that people be judged by their character rather than their skin color. "We are a nation that has terrible, terrible scars, but we must look past them,'' Mr. Beck said. "We must look at the person inside.''
Taking the stage early as the warm up, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, told the crowd that she was speaking not as a politician but "as something much more -- the mother of a combat veteran."
"May this day be the change point," she said. "Let's stand together. Let's restore America."
Beck called for America to set itself back on course. "We must advance or perish," he said. "And I choose advance."
He predicted that the rally would "start the heart of America again."
Glenn Beck's full speech is here
Crowd estimates? between 300,000 and 500,000.
Now let's look at Reverend Al's counter demonstration.
The crowd consisted of 2,500-3,000 sullen activists and rent-a-bodies from the SEIU, the NAACP and Sharpton's own group, the National Action Network. There were so few people there that Sharpton instructed the line to march single file for the cameras to appear larger.
"Like Dr. King, we believe that the bank of justice is not bankrupt," she said. "We thank you God for raising up President Barack Obama as a small down payment on that dream." - Barbara Skinner-Williams, Head of the Skinner Leadership Institute.
"We will not stand silent as some seek to bamboozle Dr. King's dream... We reclaim the dream of Dr. King for the 21st century." - Marc Morial, president of the National Urban League.
“Shame on them. We still have a dream. We are here to let those folks on the Mall know that they don’t represent the dream. They sure as hell don’t represent me. They represent hate-mongering and angry white people. The happy white people are here today. We will not let them stand in the way of the change we voted for!" - Jaime Contreras, local SEIU president
“They (referring to the Beck rally) want to disgrace this day. We won't let them..
“They may have the mall, but we have the message. They may have the platform, but we have the dream. The dream was not about state's rights..and those that are trying to take his place are trying to nullify." Al Sharpton
So let's compare the two rallies again.
We have a charity event that raised $5.5 million for a veteran's charity, drew 300,000 - 500,000 people and focused on non-political themes of unity, faith and patriotism.
And then we have another rally that drew 2,500 - 3,000 people that focused on racial bean counting, divisiveness, grievance mongering and partisan politics.
With that in mind, let's look at how the dinosaur media and the flacks for the Ruling Class portrayed Al Sharpton's little circus. Just a few examples:
From the Washington Post: 'Sharpton's 'Reclaim the Dream' event brings thousands to honor MLK'
From Newsday: 'Beck rally draws big crowd as Sharpton leads thousands honoring King'
From the Government sponsored Voice of America: Civil rights leaders criticize 'Restore Honor' rally
From the Baltimore Sun: Glenn Beck's Rally: Stealing King's moral authority
From CNN: Sharpton-led rally recalls King's "Dream" speech
From Mary Mitchell, Chicago Sun-Times:Boorish Beck Makes Mockery of King's Dream
In the end, it comes down to who really exemplified Dr. King's ideals.
Whatever one might say about Glenn Beck, he has never publicly used racial or anti-Semitic slurs, never deliberately exacerbated racial divisiveness, never led a pogrom against Jews in a place like Crown Heights, never falsely libeled a state prosecutor over a cooked up phony race baiting scheme and has not made a career out of leaching off other people's money.
What does it say about these people when they're willing to look at a race pimp and anti-Semite like Al Sharpton and applaud him for the color of his skin (and his politics) over the content of his character?

Salt In The Wound - Ground Zero Mosque May Get Public Financing
Believe it or not, the proposed Ground Zero Mosque may actually qualify for public financing.
According to New York City Comptroller John Liu, the Ground Zero Mosque not only could qualify be he's willing to consider approving a public subsidy.
Liu's spokeshole Scott Seiber said "If it turns out to be financially feasible and if they can demonstrate an ability to pay off the bonds and comply with the laws concerning tax-exempt financing, we'd certainly consider it."
Imam Rauf and his people hope to obtain a total of $70 million in tax-exempt debt towards the construction costs to build the mosque. The city's Tax laws would allow the funding if Imam Rauf and his supporters can prove the mosque will benefit the general public (!) and their religious activities will have separate funding.
Strange times we live in.Strange, suicidal times.
Obama Administration Halts Prosecution Of USS Cole Bomber
The Obama Administration has decided not to prosecute the planner of the USS Cole bombing, which killed 17 American sailors and wounded dozens of others when a boat packed with explosives rammed the side of the warship while it was in the port of Aden. That was inOctober 2000, almost ten years ago.
Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri,the Saudi al-Qaeda leader who planned the attack was originally supposed to be tried in a military commission in Guantamano, under the reforms put through recently.
Instead, in a filing this week in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, the Justice Department said that “no charges are either pending or contemplated with respect to al-Nashiri in the near future.”
What this is about, as one military official who chose to remain anonymous admitted is politics, plain and simple.
President Obama made a huge deal about closing Club Gitmo, and about bringing Gitmo detainees like Khalid Sheikh Mohammed to court in civilian trials, and in January of 2009, SecDef Robert M. Gates ordered the Convening Authority for Military Commissions to stop referring cases for trial. That order is still in force, and efforts to proceed to civilian trials are still being held up because there is severe political opposition to it. The bottom line is that the Obama Administration doesn't want to proceed with a trial by military commission against an al-Qaeda figure at Guantamano unless there's a quid pro quo and some prospect of civilian trials for other detainees at Guantanamo Bay.
So justice is once again put on hold for the brave men and women pictured below and their families.
Despicable, but not unexpected from this White House.

Lies, Islamic Apologists And A Synagogue In Lebanon
Fareed Zakaria has long been embedded as the resident Islamist apologist for outlets like CNN, MSNBC, and Time.
While he's always been a major force for taqiya (dissembling to advance Islam,) his latest offering,in an attempt to strengthen the case for the Ground Zero Mosque is so disgraceful that it bears some exposure to the light of truth.
Zakaria's little snippet concerns the restoration in Beirut,Lebanon of the Magen Abraham synagogue, which Zakaria presents as an example of Islamic tolerance and a model for Americans to follow on the Ground Zero Mosque:
According to Zakaria, we can learn here in the US from the tolerance exhibited by Lebanon and Hezbollah. Here's the part of the story he doesn't want you to know.
In 1948, there were over 20,000 Jews living in Lebanon.Today, there are less than 100.Nearly all of the remaining Jews are in Beirut, and they are unable to openly practice their religion.
The Beirut Magen Abraham Synagogue was in ruins because it was looted and wrecked by Lebanese Shi'ite Muslims during the civil war in 1975...which was also when most of Lebanon's remaining 1,800 Jews fled the country.
Magen Abraham is also the site of the country's main Jewish cemetery, with around 4,500 graves. Preserving those graves is the primary reason that the remnants of Lebanon's Jewish community and Lebanese Jews abroad raised the money to restore Magen Abraham, aided by donors such as the family of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, who was murdered by Hezbollah under Syrian orders.
Magen Abraham will essentially be a memorial park and museum to a once thriving community..not an active house of worship.
Oh, and then there's Zakaria's tolerant friends in Hezbollah.
Hezbollah has been implicated in numerous attacks on Jews world wide, including the 1994 bombing of a Jewish community center in Buenos Aires, in which 85 people were killed.
No less than Hezbollah's leader Hassan Nasrallah ( who is a Holocaust denier) has repeatedly called for Jews to be wiped out world wide, and was quoted in Lebanon's Daily Star as saying that that if the Jews "all gather in Israel, it will save us the trouble of going after them worldwide."
Nasrallah exhibited further respect and tolerance for Jews in a Sept. 18. 2009 speech, saying "Historic Palestine, from the sea to the river, belongs to the people of Palestine and to the whole [Muslim] nation." Israel, "is a usurper an occupation entity, aggressive, cancerous, illegitimate, and illegal presence," and nobody is permitted to recognize its existence."
The Jewish state, he continued, must be "wiped out":[We] will never recognize 'Israel.' We will not work with 'Israel.' We will not normalize ties with 'Israel.' We will not surrender to 'Israel.' We will not accept 'Israel' even if the whole world recognizes it. Our faith, belief, and declaration will remain unchanged, that 'Israel' is an illegal presence [and] a cancerous gland, and must be wiped out of existence."
In other words, what Zakaria didn't tell you is that to Hezbollah, the 'occupation' they're talking about has nothing to do with the Palestinians, but to Israel's entire existence. And he actually has the gall to compare Hezbollah's grudging acceptance of a tiny museum and graveyard with a huge, active mosque on Ground Zero that will tower over the proposed Ground Zero memorial and will be run by an Islamist imam with highly questionable ties.
Zakaria unwittingly gives us an excellent reason why the Ground Zero Mosque should never see the light of day. Few if any of its proponents appear to have even a nodding acquaintance with the truth, and are fully prepared to use taqiyah to get it built and to fool naive useful idiots into going along with them.
This gives us a very good indication of what will be going on if Imam Rauf has his way and the Ground Zero Mosque gets built in the middle of a target rich area like New York City.

"The synagogue is just now emerging from a painstaking restoration project. When the repairs began over a year ago, the temple was literally a shell of its former self. So why did this nation, often teetering on the brink of religious hostilities and hostilities with Israel, restore a Jewish house of worship? To show that Lebanon is an open and tolerant country.
And indeed, the project is said to have found support in many parts of the community, not just from the few remaining Jews there, but also Christians and Muslims and Hezbollah. Yes, Hezbollah -- the one that the United States has designated a foreign terrorist organization.
Hezbollah's view on the renovation goes like this. "We respect divine religions, including the Jewish religion. The problem is with Israel's occupation of Arab lands ... not with the Jews." Food for thought. Thanks to all of you for being part of my program this week. I will see you next week. Stay tuned for "Reliable Sources."

Canada Terrorist Cell Busted
The RCMP dismantled a home grown terrorist cell in Ottawa today that was the project of a number of adherents of the Religion of Peace.
The ringleader allegedly attended training camps in Pakistan and Afghanistan, and I'm sure that as usual, there's a Saudi-funded wahabi mosque and a 'moderate' imam in the picture.
The arrests were made now because one of the suspects was preparing to travel abroad.
“These guys were doing more than just talking about terrorism. They were planning it,” a police source said.
This is the biggest counterterrorism operation in Canada since Project Osage, the 2006 arrests of the group Canadians refer to as the Toronto 18 who had attacks planned all over Southern Ontario.
Canada's Muslim leadership was shocked or outraged, depending on whom you talked to.
“It’s sad to hear such news. It’s disturbing,” said Imam Habeeb Alli, secretary of the Canadian Council of Imams. “It’s very disturbing, and I hope the proper wheels of justice will be set in motion to ensure we get to the bottom of the story.”
The Muslim Canadian Congress expressed “shock” at the developments, but also commended RCMP for the operation.
“Thank God these men were stopped before they could carry out their alleged plot,” said vice-president Salma Siddiqui.
Ms. Siddiqui also said that until Canada’s Muslim leadership unequivocally denounces the doctrine of armed jihad, there will be more incidents. Radical figures are becoming “heroes,” Ms. Siddiqui said, and leaders in the Muslim community have a duty to diminish them.
On the other hand, Scarborough imam Aly Hindy — who is on record as being critical of the way the Toronto 18 case was handled - derided the “so-called war against terrorism,” and said that the threat is exaggerated.
“We don’t have this feeling of any danger. We feel very safe,” he said.
I'll just bet he does.
The New Wave In America - Sarah Palin, Col. Allen West and Jesse Kelly Together
This is a signpost to the future.
Here we have Sarah Palin with two of her winning endorsees from last night discussing what they stand for - limited government, American exceptionalism and a return to the principles the Founders left us as a beacon to preserve our Republic.
Along with Joe Miller, another one of Governor Palin's winning picks from last night, Jesse Kelly and Allen West all have something in common..they're all war heroes, successes in private life and not at all pleased with the current state of affairs in Washington.
And they're going to be in the front lines of what will be a revolution in American life.
They will not be easy to stop.
For that matter, Governor Palin herself will not be that easy to stop if she decides to run. Even Mess NBC's resident blowhard Chris Matthews seems to realize it:

Leadership 101- Governor Chris Christie
The State of New Jersey was denied hundreds of millions in education funds they legitimately qualified for by the Obama administration because some clerk in the New Jersey Department of Education turned in the wrong excel spreadsheet.
Below, Governor Christie's response to a question on the matter:
Based on what we know about how the 'stimulus' funds were distributed and how the GM and Chrysler dealerships were arbitrarily closed with party affiliation as a criteria, there's little doubt in my mind that this was done vindictively by the White House, in an attempt to embarrass the governor. Instead, he turned it right back at them.
In taking the blame directly rather than finding a scapegoat and by explaining clearly and succinctly exactly what happened, Governor Christie gives us a clear example of how a leader conducts himself. And the way what my father of blessed memory would have referred to as a Real Man acts.
A certain Community-organizer-in-chief lurking in the Oval Office could take a lesson from that.
UPDATE: After making the above statement, Governor Christie publicly fired state education commissioner Bret Schundler after Schundler refused to resign.
Christie took this action after viewing a videotape of Schundler's Race to the Top presentation to the feds and discovering that Schundler lied to him about trying to give the correct information during the presentation that was missing on the almost 1,000 page application. A video of the presentation released by the U.S. Department of Education after Christie's initial statement proved that never happened.
“As I have said before, I never promised the people of New Jersey that this would be a mistake-free administration," Christie said. "However, I did promise that the people serving in my administration would be held accountable for their actions.”

Weekend Monkey On Politics: Palin-Tology
Hidey Ho, Primates! Welcome to the one and only Real Banana, your source for the real poop on politics...
Well, last night's primaries showed one thing...any of my Democrats who diss Rethug pin up Sarah Palin and discount her influence are definitely up the wrong tree and could be headed for a nasty fall.
The primates at Slate and the Politico made that mistake, running stories about how Palin's influence was fading and all her endorsements were gonna go down in flames.
OK, they don't like Palin so they were projecting. But in the politics racket, the banana you haven't gotten your paws on yet ain't gonna be breakfast, and yapping about it before it happens can embarrass you...which is what happened here.
Every one of her endorsements finished in the money, especially some little known Anchorage Tea Party nebbish named Joe Miller who ran for Senator in the ReThug primary against incumbent Lisa Murkowski.
A lot of the Donkeys were high fiving each other, laughing at Palin and predicting that Miller was gonna get stomped like a rat running in front of an elephant stampede.
Instead, when the dust settled, Miller was on top by a couple thousand votes and looks to take the nomination with 98% of the votes counted...and since it's Alaska, he's almost a shoo in for the senate seat.
Palin give him a few shekels out of her Pac,made some speeches and recorded a robo-call for Miller.(and no,primates, I didn't hear the call so I don't know if she talked dirty...whooo hee hee hee hee!) Anyway, Miller credits her with making the difference. She did, no doubt about it.
The Palin-Murkowski thing goes back a ways from what my sources tell me,probably back to when Murkowski's dad appointed her to the Senate seat Palin thought she had a shot at. So this has the aroma of a pretty entertaining cat fight.
But the point is that whatever else my Democrats are gonna say about Sarah Palin, they gotta admit that she's to be reckoned with.
It remains to be seen whether Palin's appeal crosses party lines, but only a deranged baboon would make book that it won't.
In the political jungle, this Monkey can tell you that Sarah Palin is gonna be one beast that needs watching...and not just for her looks.

OOOH! Islamophobia! Hate Crime! Uh..Whoops, Never Mind..
I got a real giggle out of the dinosaur media's antics today. After pounding on the Islamophobia drum all week they had a collective orgasm over a story that a New York cabbie had been slashed after revealing to a passenger that he was Muslim.
And then it turned out that the perpetrator is a Lefty agitator who belongs to a pro-Ground Zero Mosque group!
The apparent anti-Muslim assault on a New York city cabbie by a man shouting “Assalamu Alaikum. Consider this a checkpoint" produced an immediate round of recriminations over its connection to opposition to a New York Islamic Center and an apparent rising tide of Islamophobia.
But as often at the intersection of politics and violent crime, the story doesn't appear to fit any easy stereotype: The alleged assailant, Michael Enright, is — according to his Facebook profile and the website of the left-leaning media organization Intersections International — a student at the School of Visual Arts and a volunteer for Intersections, which recently produced a statement of support for the Park51 project....
Awwwwwwwww! All anticipation and no consumation..

Dem Senator Michael Bennet 'Trillions In Debt And Nothing to Show For It"
Absolutely unbelievable.
Democrat Senator Michael Bennet is running fo rre-election this year. He was quoted in a speech at a townhall in Greely, Colorado as saying:
Meanwhile, this loyal Obama tool voted for all this debt...and now, when he has to face the electorate he's posing as Mister Fiscal Responsibility?
According to a fact check by the Denver Post, Michael Bennet voted for legislation that if you add it all up and divide by the days he’s been in office, comes out to nearly $2.5 billion a day.
And he has the nerve to face the voters and act like it's something he wasn't involved in up to his pudgy little neck?
What's next? 'Mistakes were made' or maybe "I was only following orders"?

Regarding spending during his time in office he said, “We have managed to acquire $13 trillion of debt on our balance sheet” and, “in my view we have nothing to show for it.”

Feds Now Implementing De Facto Amnesty For Illegal Aliens
US law? Who cares?
You'll remember that the feds were caught circulating a secret memo addressed to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Director Alejandro Mayorkas and written by his staffers that detailed strategies the Obama administration was going to use to simply avoid deporting illegal aliens - what the memo called "a non-legislative version of amnesty."
Those strategies to provide that amnesty are apparently now being implemented by the Feds.
The Houston Chronicle details how Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), a part of the Department of Homeland Security is engaging in a massive effort to dismiss thousands of pending immigration cases against illegal aliens. The official excuse for this is that ICE is supposedly focusing on illegal aliens guilty of felonies while in the US.
Misdeamenors are apparently just fine, as long as they don't involve DUIs, domestic violence or sex crimes.
Local immigration lawyers coming to court expecting deportation orders against their clients are instead finding out that the charges are being dismissed and the cases dropped.
Raed Gonzalez, a local Houston immigration attorney was quoted as saying that he went into immigration court was given a court date in October 2011 for one client. But the government's attorney requested the dismissal of that case and those of two more of his clients, and the cases were dispatched by the judge.
The court "was terminating all of the cases that came up," Gonzalez said. "It was absolutely fantastic."
"We're all calling each other saying, 'Can you believe this?' " said John Nechman, another Houston immigration attorney, who had two cases dismissed.
All of them called the DHS and were informed that this s now official policy. look for Obama to try and push through amnesty legislation during the lame duck session of Congress.
This is a slap in the face to every US legal immigrant who jumped through hoops and played by the rules to come to America.

Lt. Col. Allen West Wins Primary!!!
I'm pleased to report that American hero Lt. Colonel Allen West has secured a primary victory in Florida 22 and will face off against über-leftard Obama enabler Ron Klein.
This district barely went for Obama in '08, this is a very winnable race and the thought of the heroic Lt. Colonel West in Congress makes me grin from ear to ear in a rather predatory fashion.
Here are some of the reasons why:
This is exactly the sort of person we need in Congress to take our Beloved Republic back. If you care about the future direction of this country, send him some love and money. And if you live in Florida 22, vote early and often.
