Senate Blocks Obama's Appointment Of Radical Cop Killer Advocate To Justice Department

Today the senate blocked President Obama’s nominee to lead the Justice Department’s civil rights division, with 7 Democrats joining Republicans.

The nominee, Debo P. Adegbile, was a lawyer for the NAACP who filed a brief arguing that cop killer and former Black Panther Mumia Abu-Jamal’s murder trial was 'racist'.

Mumia Abu Jamal, AKA Wesley Cook murdered police officer Daniel Faulkner in 1981 execution style during a routine traffic stop, according to three eyewitnesses. Two policemen and one hospital security guard testified to the court that while Mumia Abu Jamal was being brought into the hospital following the altercation with Faulkner, he shouted repeatedly, “I shot the mother f---er, and I hope the mother f---er dies.” He was unanimously convicted by a racially mixed jury. Faulkner left behind a wife and three young children.

Of course, Mumia Abu Jamal became a cause  for the Left, with celebrities like Ed Asner,  communists Ossie Davis and Pete Seeger and a host of the usual suspects. The NAACP was quick to move to  defend this killer, and  Adegbile led the charge, making the basis of his 'case' that the jury instructions were unclear and that the trial was 'racist'. Or in other words, he fished for technicalities to get a murderer  freed because of his race, even though there was no doubt that Jamal murdered Daniel Faulkner in the least. Adegbile went beyond mere competent  legal defense and into outright advocacy to try to get Jamal freed.

While Adegbile was unable to quite pull that off, he and the Leftist cheering section involved were able to create enough noise and race based heat  so that Jamal avoided the death penalty and is still incarcerated, a gross miscarriage of justice. It is disgraceful that the president even put his name forward. You can just imagine how he'd behave as one of Eric Holder's sturmbannführers.

Since Majority Leader Harry Reid exercised the nuclear option to essentially destroy the rights of the minority party to filibuster, all sorts of President Obama's radical nominees have been shoved through, including some remarkably unqualified ambassadors whose sole qualification was fundraising for the Obama campaign. So the president obviously expected Adegbile to sail right through.

This one was just a bridge too far, especially with midterms coming up. And it's notable that all of the Democrats who voted against Adegbile - Sens. Bob Casey of Pennsylvania where the murder occurred, Chris Coons of Delaware, Joe Donnelly of Indiana, Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota, Joe Manchin of West Virginia, Mark Pryor of Arkansas and John Walsh of Montana - are all facing tough odds of getting re-elected in 2014, with the exception of Coons, who apparently decided to put right and wrong ahead of politics.

An angry Harry Reid accused the Republicans of racism, naming Robert Wilkins,who's now a judge on the DC Court of Appeals, and FHA Finance Agency Director Mel Watt as Obama nominees who were shoved through under the new Harry Reid diktats that the GOP was opposed to solely because of race.

Yes, when you take a look at their stellar backgrounds, it must have been ra-aa-cism.Right.

After his tantrum, Reid was forced to vote against the nominee in order to be able to ask for an eventual re-vote — which he did.

Oddly enough, there were several Democrat senators who voted to confirm Adegbile that might end up having to pay a politicalprice fo rit this year, including Sens. Kay Hagan of North Carolina, Mary Landrieu of Louisiana, Mark Begich of Alaska, Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire, Mark Udall of Colorado, Mark Warner of Virginia, Al Franken of Minnesota and Jeff Merkley of Oregon.

Apparently Reid was leaning pretty hard to try and get this particular radical nominee through for the president.

Biden Speaks To Empty House At NAACP

Apparently the crowd over at the NAACP wasn't all that thrilled with the president taking them for granted and sending in VP Joe Biden as a sub. Basically, the message was 'you know and I know you aren't going to vote for the white man, so just take what I give you and send money.'

The organization is blaming it on rain...but I doubt it. Not with this many empty seats.

Don't misunderstand me. Barack Obama is still going to get a large majority of the black vote for obvious reasons, but let's just say I think Mitt Romney planted a few seeds with yesterday's speech.

Spin It Dinosaur Media! Heavily Biased Reporting On Romney's NAACP Speech

Looking at most of the dinosaur media reports on Mitt Romney's speech to the NAACP today, you'll take away two main facts. First, that Romney was 'heavily booed', giving the impression that his entire speech was marked with that kind of response. And second, soundbites from carefully chosen 'authentic blacks' designed to show how out of touch Romney and the Republicans are. The AP led the charge, and outlets like CBS redacted their take on it, with a few additions here and there like quotes from their own 'authentic' black sources.

Needless to say, the fact that Romney was booed is the headline.

The truth of the matter, from a source of mine who actually attended the speech? Romney was booed only once by this partisan Democrat audience...when he said that to create jobs, "I am going to eliminate every non-essential expensive program I can find. That includes Obamacare."

Considering that the taxes to pay for ObamaCare are going to fall disproportionally on black working families, you have to wonder what they were thinking.

The only other time there was anything even remotely like booing were a few sparse outbursts when Romney said that he was the candidate that was going to make things better for the African-American community.

As part of his speech, he championed school choice, which he referred to as the civil rights issue of the 21st century. He also talked about his father's involvement in the civil rights movement and the values he was raised with:

"It wasn't just that my dad helped write the civil rights provision for the Mass - excuse me - Michigan Constitution, though he did," Romney said. "It wasn't just that he helped create Michigan's first civil rights commission, or that as governor he marched for civil rights in Detroit - though he did those things, too. More than these public acts, it was the kind of man he was, and the way he dealt with every person, black or white. He was a man of the fairest instincts, and a man of faith who knew that every person was a child of God."

What Mitt Romney did was about the best thing he could have done. He let the NAACP know whom he was, saying, "if you understood who I truly am in my heart, and if it were possible to fully communicate what I believe is in the real, enduring best interest of African-American families, you would vote for me for president."

Romney received an ovation at the end of his speech. Perhaps even those in this crowd who are staunch Obama voters had to give the Governor credit for showing up and being there...and some may even take that reasoning a step further, noting that Barack Obama is taking them for granted and palming Joe Biden off on them, while Mitt Romney isn't.They also know now that he isn't the simple minded racist the Obama campaign has desperately been trying to paint him as.

Will this change the minds of the people who heard Romney speak today? In most cases, probably not. The NAACP, after all, is the same organization that gave Louis Farrakhan standing O's when he spoke there and there's a mindset present many of them aren't willing to challenge.

But I don't doubt it at least provided food for thought among some of them. Such seeds can grow, in time.

Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest Makes The News

Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest (July 13, 1821 – October 29, 1877) is in the news today, believe it or not.

Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour is taking heat from the NAACP for refusing to condemn the state's branch of The Sons of the Confederacy for planning to institute a special vanity license plate commemorating the Ol' Tennessee Wizard.

Mississippi currently offers a license plate to commemorate the Civil War, and has other vanity license plates planned, with Forrest's scheduled to debut in 2014 if it goes through. Funds from those plates go toward maintaining the state's collection of Confederate battle flags and restoring Beauvoir – the final home of Confederate President Jefferson Davis.

Forrest was an interesting character. He amassed a fortune as a planter and slave trader, but ended up joining the CSA as a private. In short order, he was pulled out of the ranks, made a Lieutenant Colonel and allowed to form his own command, "Forrest's Tennessee Cavalry Battalion". After which he proceeded to raise sheer hell with the Union forces over the next five years.

Forrest equipped his men with his own money and used them as mounted infantry, a fairly novel concept for the time when cavalry were primarily used for scouting and screening or to harass the flanks of the infantry. He was also one of the few Confederate commanders to utilize black troops.

Forrest used fast mobility as a major part of his strategy. He had no military experience but turned out to be a natural at tactics.

He realized early that his horsemen could get from point A to point B a lot quicker than Union infantry could march, and that if he could get his men to a strategic locale, get them in position before the enemy infantry got there and then use the horses for mobility as needed, he was way ahead of the game.

Forrest was the man who famously said that the secret to winning was 'to git thar fust with the most men'." And he demonstrated it a number of times.

He also loved to harass the Union forces with fast-moving raids, disrupt their supply trains and raise havoc with their communications by destroying railroad track and cutting telegraph lines.

Forrest survived the war (one account says he had over 30 horses shot out from under him in combat) and returned home to Tennessee.

The NAACP's objection is apparently based on Forrest's probable membership in the Klu Klux Klan, although that was never actually proven and he was definitely not the founder of the organization as some people allege.

The NAACP argues that Forrest should be counted among terrorists 'like Osama bin Laden.'

I admit, it's amusing to me to hear the NAACP call anyone else racist.

Or for them to object to the KKK, considering their long-time lockstep support for the party of a certain recently deceased Klan Kleagle who used to be a US Senator in good standing.

On the other hand, I don't really care whether a Nathan Bedford Forrest license plate gets issued either.

I was just thinking it's a pity we don't have him with us today in a modern setting commanding an armored brigade in AfPak....

Maine Governor LePage: NAACP Can 'Kiss My Butt'

It's about time someone told these racist swine where to get off.

Newly elected Republican Governor Paul LePage was asked by local CNN affiliate WCSH about criticism he received from the NAACP for refusing to attend an event at the state prison it's sponsoring on behalf of Martin Luther King Day. His response is a real classic:

"They are a special interest. End of story...and I'm not going to be held hostage by special interests. And if they want, they can look at my family picture. My son happens to be black, so they can do whatever they'd like about it."

What happened is that the NAACP wanted to segregate the event, limiting it to black inmates only, and LePage refused to attend unless it was open to all inmates.

"That wasn't acceptable to them," LePage said. "So, tough luck."

Well said sir.
