The Palin Doctrine - One Step Closer To Running

It went largely unnoticed in the furor surrounding the killing of Osama bin-Laden, but Governor Sarah Palin made an important policy speech in Denver, Colorado and made a change in her team to reflect it.

She was at Colorado Christian University, the headline speaker at a benefit for the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors, a nonprofit group that provides grief counseling and other support services to the families of fallen American troops.

"Their courage and their determination brought us justice," Palin said of those who hunted Osama bin-Laden for nearly 10 years. "They know that freedom isn't free. It's a God-given right and worth fighting for."

The meat of the speech reveals that she's been doing some serious thinking on foreign policy issues and how American troops are used:

See, these are deadly serious questions that we must ask ourselves when we contemplate sending Americans into harm’s way. Our men and women in uniform deserve a clear understanding of U.S. positions on such a crucial decision.

I believe our criteria before we send our young men and women, America’s finest, into harm’s way, I believe that our criteria should be spelled out clearly when it comes to the use of our military force. I can tell you what I believe that criteria should be. I can tell you what it should be in five points:

First, we should only commit our forces when clear and vital American interests are at stake.

Second, if we have to fight, we fight to win. To do that we use overwhelming force. We only send our troops into war with the objective to defeat the enemy as quickly as possible. We do not send our military and stretch out the mission with an open-ended and ill-defined mission. Nation-building, a nice idea in theory, but it’s not the main purpose of our armed forces. We use our military to win wars.

And third,we must have clearly defined goals and objectives before sending our troops into harm’s way. If you can’t explain the mission to the American people clearly, concisely, then our sons and daughters should not be sent to battle. Period.

Fourth, American soldiers must never be put under foreign command. We will fight side by side by our allies, but American soldiers must remain under the care and command of the American officers.

And fifth, sending our armed forces should be the last resort. We don’t go looking for dragons to slay. However, we will encourage the forces of freedom around the world who are sincerely fighting for the empowerment of the individual.

When it makes sense, when it’s appropriate, we’ll provide them with support and help them win their own freedom. We’re not indifferent to the cause of human rights or the desire for freedom. We’re always on the side of both. But we can’t fight every war. We can’t undo every injustice around the world.

But with strength, and clarity in those five points, we’ll make for a safer, more prosperous, more peaceful world. Because as the U.S. leads by example, as we support freedom across the globe, we’re gonna prove that free and healthy countries, they don't wage war on other free and healthy countries.

The stronger we are, the stronger and more peaceful the world will be under our example.

In other words, Governor Palin is putting people on notice that she is no neocon, but a Reagan conservative who believes in peace through strength.

That was underlined by another move she made, cutting ties with longtime neocon advisers Randy Scheunemann and Michael Goldfarb of Orion Strategies who are no longer working with her PAC.

Her new foreign policy adviser? None other than Hoover Fellow and Big Peace editor Michael Schweizer, who aside from being scary smart has views on nation building and war and peace that correspond a lot with Governor Palin's Denver speech.

Aside from being a killer pairing of talent, this once again shows me that Governor Palin is getting very close to making a decision to run for the White House.

Cringing Into Dhimmitude

The following is a statement released by General David Petraeus and and NATO Ambassador Mark Sedwill:

KABUL, Afghanistan (April 3, 2011) – In view of the events of recent days, we feel it is important on behalf of ISAF [i.e., the International Security Assistance Force] and NATO members in Afghanistan to reiterate our condemnation of any disrespect to the Holy Qur’an and the Muslim faith. We condemn, in particular, the action of an individual in the United States who recently burned the Holy Qur’an.



We also offer condolences to the families of all those injured and killed in violence which occurred in the wake of the burning of the Holy Qur’an.



We further hope the Afghan people understand that the actions of a small number of individuals, who have been extremely disrespectful to the Holy Qur’an, are not representative of any of the countries of the international community who are in Afghanistan to help the Afghan people.

Notice the servile tone of this missive, written by the man who is our wartime commander of the most powerful military on the planet and the ambassador of the wealthiest, most powerful collection of nations in the world.

There's no condemnation at all of the hideous barbarians who stormed a UN compound and slaughtered men and women in the name of Allah who were there on what they thought was a humanitarian mission on behalf of the very people who cheerfully murdered them.

No, no condemnation, because they were doing it on behalf of the Holy Qu'ran...which tells these people it's a holy deed to to terrorize unbelievers. The mullahs who incited the mob at Mazar-e-Sharif used that very same Holy Qu'ran as the marching orders for murder in the name of Islam.

And make no mistake...this was about Islam. The Nepalese guards who were under orders not to use their weapons to defend themselves, the Norwegian female aid workers, the Swedish and Romanian administrators who were dragged away and decapitated, all were non-Muslims. In fact, Pavel Ershov, a Russian diplomat who was captured by the mob managed to save his own life by convincing them he was a Muslim.

Instead, all of the general and the ambassador's condemnation and vitriol is devoted towards the preacher who burned a Qu'ran, in accordance with his First Amendment rights under our Constitution, something General Petraeus swore an oath to defend and protect. There's not even a call for justice to be executed on the murderers, or on the imams who incited them.

In subsequent statements. General Petraeus even doubled down, referring to the Qu'ran burning as "hateful, extremely disrespectful and enormously intolerant," and the mob as being in the grip of "perhaps understandable passions."

'Understandable passions?' Is this what it has come to? Have we lost all sense of ourselves and whom we are, that we now feel the need to bow down before the values of a bunch of savages living mentally in the 7th century?

In General Petraeus' defense, it must be remembered whom his commander-in-chief is, and that President Obama likely demanded something like this from him. But I think Patton, MacArthur and even Eisenhower would likely have resigned if FDR had ever demanded this sort of kowtowing from them.

The key phrase, of course occurs in the last part of this disgraceful missive, where General Petraeus and Ambassador Sedwill announce that our mission in Afghanistan is 'to help the Afghan people.'

Not to win a war, not to destroy our enemies, not even the amorphous goal of 'fighting terrorism', but to 'help the Afghan people'. That's why they say we're there. In that short phrase can be read the entire failure thus far of the war we've been involved in since 9/11.

It would never occur to them that the people they're talking about regard themselves as members of their local tribe or clan first, Muslims second, Pashtuns, Tajiks, Uzbeks and Hazaras third and Afghans as a very distant fourth, or that their idea of the sort of help might be very different from ours. Like wanting us gone, so they can resume their accustomed ways without interference.

Even more troubling than General Petraeus and Ambassador Sedwill are the pronouncements of certain US Senators, who appear to be leading the charge towards dhimmitude in American life.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid now claims he's going to have the Qu'ran burning 'looked into', whatever that means. And GOP Senator Lindsay Graham likewise is sounding the charge for legislation that " limit some forms of freedom of speech. Because we're in a war."

The stupidity of this, the inherent cultural cringe is a powerful reason why we're still losing this war a decade after it started. The same people who claim this is a war of ideas and values seem to be the first ones willing to disparage and disrespect our own. What happens, Senator , when something else happens that Muslims don't like and use as an excuse for murder in the name of Islam?

To paraphrase the old game show question, how low will you go? How far will you bend over?

Let me get one thing straight. There's only one reason, and only one for not burning a Qu'ran..and that's because it's rude and somewhat unkind. But there's no reason to elevate it to afford the Qu'ran, mosques or imams any more respect and tolerance than Muslims give churches, synagogues, Buddhist and Hindu Temples, the American flag, the Bible, the Torah, Priests, nuns, Rabbis or indeed just about any non-Muslim.

Here's a revolutionary concept to apply to the Muslim world - if you want our money, our trade, our military defending your regimes, access to Western technology and luxuries and visas to study and work in our countries, we demand respect for our customs and beliefs as the price of admission.

You want to send imams to America and fund mosques here? Fine, in exact relatio to the West's being able to send Christian missionaries and build churches in Dar Islam. You want Islam and its adherents free to worship and respected in our countries? Certainly...to the exact degree you respect Christians, Jews and other non-Muslims in yours. No more, no less.

To demand anything less is be as inherently racist as Senators Reid, Graham and the rest of the politically correct mob rushing towards dhimmitude and abasement are by assuming that Muslims by their very nature are incapable of acting like civilized human beings and exhibiting rational behavior.

If Senator Graham and Reid are correct, then perhaps we're better off in the long run taking Ann Coulter's advice the day after 9/11, invading the Muslim world and converting the inhabitants to Christianity.

However, if Graham and Reid and their ilk are wrong, we had better make some significant changes in how we deal with Islam, the Muslim world and the honor/shame culture that pervades them before all we're left with is Ann Coulter's alternative...or abject surrender.

Pennsylvania Professor Calls For Jihad Against Jews, Israel

Kaukab Siddique is a naturalized American citizen born in Pakistan who is an associate professor of literature at Pennsylvania's Lincoln University.

He recently attended a Labor Day weekend event to address radical Muslims and leftists at an anti-Israel rally in Washington, D.C. marking "Al Quds Day."

The event featured Hamas and Hezbollah flags, and a number of jihadists on the podium and in attendance.

The Investigative Project on Terrorism captured footage of Siddique's remarks in Washington :

He had a number of quite interesting things to say, among them:

"We must stand united to defeat, to destroy, to dismantle Israel--if possible by peaceful means," Kaukab Siddique said. "Perhaps, like Saladin, we will give them enough food and water to travel back to the lands from where they came to occupy other people."

And:

"For the Jews, I would say see what could happen to you if the Muslims wake up," Siddique warned. "And I say to the Muslims, dear brothers and sisters, unite and rise up against this hydra-headed monster which calls itself Zionism."

"This is not a one off deal, this event Labor Day weekend," IPT Executive Director Ray Locker told CBN News. "This is something he has said at similar events over a period of at least a dozen years, as far as we can tell."

Saddique also is a Holocaust denier, according to CBN News which found e-mail exchanges posted online in which Siddique called the Holocaust "a hoax" that was "invented," saying there is "not even one document" to prove it happened. The same e-mails talk about how the Jews have "taken over America" by "devious and immoral means." So it's not just Israel he's concerned with.

And Siddique also been a frequent contributor to "The Final Call", the official organ of Louis Farrakhan's Nation Of Islam, just to round out his anti-Semitic bonifides.

So...what do you think Lincoln University's response was when they were confronted with all of this recently?

The school's executive vice president, Michael Hill, told us they in no way agree with or support Siddique's comments on Jews and Israel. But - Siddique is tenured, he has freedom of speech, and Hill claims the school can't control what he does or says as a private citizen.

Or can they? Every tenure agreement I've ever seen has a provision for firing a professor for cause - incompetence, dishonesty, fraud, insubordination, or conduct unbecoming a professor that brings disrepute on the university involved. Does calling for the ethnic cleansing and murder of Jews not qualify?

Lincoln University is the nation's oldest historically African-American college. Would they have the same tolerance if Siddique appeared at an Aryan brotherhood rally?

Somehow I doubt it.

The Latest Fashionable Theory – ‘Suicide Terrorism Caused By Occupation’

Military Occupation, that is. At least that’s what Robert Pape, a University of Chicago political science professor says, according to the Politico’s Laura Rozen.

Not only that, but Pape is scheduled to present his findings to Congress, where I’m sure the Democrats will give him an enthusiastic reception. I mean, they always knew it was America’s fault!

“We have lots of evidence now that when you put the foreign military presence in, it triggers suicide terrorism campaigns, … and that when the foreign forces leave, it takes away almost 100 percent of the terrorist campaign,” Pape said in an interview last week on his findings.

Only one thing — when you go back into history only a short time, you find out something different and very puzzling about this suicide terrorism theory.
