Germany Update: Angela Merkel Surrenders On Migrant Policy

Faced with having her government collapse, Angela Merkel surrendered entirely to the demands of her interior minister, Horst Seehofer. Here's the agreement, in English and then in German:

In order to better regulate, control and prevent secondary migration, we come to this agreement:

1. We agree to a new border regime at the German-Austrian border, which ensures that asylum seekers whose asylum procedures are the responsibility of other EU countries, will be refused entry.

2. To do so, we will establish transit centers, from which the asylum seekers will be directly sent back to the responsible countries (refusing entry on the basis of the legal implication of non-entry). We do not want to act in an uncoordinated fashion, but come to administrative agreements, or establish communication, with the countries concerned.

3. In those cases where countries refuse administrative agreements, the rejection at the German-Austrian border will be on the basis of an agreement with the Republic of Austria.

Like I said, complete capitulation. Hort Seehofer had the best weapon possible in this kind of negotiation, the willingness to walk away from the table and take his CSU party with him. Needless to say, he was attacked ferociously by the Leftist German press, but he stood his ground, a man with courage and conviction.

Merkel’s facesaver in this agreement is one single sentence: “We do not want to act in an uncoordinated fashion, but come to administrative agreements, or establish communication, with the countries concerned.”
 Since the 'countries concerned' have already said no to more Muslim migrants, that question is essentially settled anyway, nicht wahr? But it looks nice on paper.

The true issue here was whether Germany actually has national borders and can refuse people entry or not. Merkel wanted to have a Germany with no borders and no real nationality, just a province in a non-democratic EUSSR.

This is a great day for both Germany and Europe, a victory for the German people's right to self-determination, and a major setback for the forces of multi-culti and slavery.

Don't be surprised if Seehofer ends up as the next German chancellor.

The German Elections: Dead Man's Curve

The German Elections are over, and the German people mostly voted for the status quo. And in that word 'mostly' lies a possibility that rather than crashing and burning, Germany might just manage to avoid suicide and remain a western, European nation.

Angela Merkel did indeed win a fourth term, but with the worst result for her party, the CDU/CSU Union since 1949, and one that assures that in order to govern, she will need coalition partners. And that won't be all that easy to assemble. Even worse for her is a possible splintering of the long standing CDU/CSU party...and the surprisingly strong showing of the Right in the form of Alternative für Deutschland (AFD). Here are the numbers:



Mutti Merkel will need 316 seats to govern. Let's look at who these parties are...

The Union is the CDU (Christlich Demokratische Union Deutschlands, Christian Democratic Union of Germany) , in union with the CSU (Christlich-Soziale Union in Bayern, Christian Social Union in Bavaria). The CSU is to the right of the CDU, although both are pro-EU. And the CSU is seriously talking about a split, since they're concerned how Merkel's stance on unlimited Muslim migration will effect them in their Bavarian stronghold. The CSU dropped from 49% to 38.5% thanks to Merkel, and have already announced a turn to the right, particularly regarding Muslim migration.

The SPD is the Sozialdemokratische Partei Deutschlands, Social Democratic Party of Germany). It's a party of the Left that supports socialism, is pro-EU and has already said it will not join a coalition with Merkel. The Social Democrats and their candidate Martin Schulz came in a distant second, with a post-war record low of 21 percent.

Die Linke, as you can gather from its name is a far Left party that includes the former German communist party (PDS). They're an unlikely partner for Merkel.

Grüne (Bündnis 90/Die Grünen, Alliance 90/The Greens) is a very Left party with enviro-politics as their major focus. They might be prepared to do a deal with Merkel for the right price.

The FDP (Freie Demokratische Partei, Free Democratic Party) —are more centrist and champion free market economics and traditional classic liberal freedoms, but are also pro-EU. Again, a possible partner for Merkel for the right price.

And finally, AFD (Alternative für Deutschland, Alternative for Germany) — Anti-EU, nationalist and very much against Merkel's continued importation of Muslim migrants to Germany. This is the first them they have passed the threshold of votes needed to get them into the Bundestag, Germany's Parliament. and while the chart lists them last, in terms of seats they have now gone on to become Germany's third largest party. They not only won't work with Merkel, they have pledged to oppose her at every turn. As AFD Leader Alexander Gauland said last night when the returns came in, "We will chase Mrs. Merkel, and we will take our country and our people back!”

By gaining seats in the Bundestag, AFD has dramatically boosted its visibility and qualifies for state financing.

AFD's rise is even more astonishing when you realize that the party was essentially split between an unapologetic right wing party led by Gauland and Alice Weidel and a more moderate wing headed by Frauke Petry, who helped form the party in 2013. If AFD had been united, their results might have been even more stunning.



In fact, Frauke Petry announced just after the election that she would sit in the Bundestag as an independent in opposition AFD's future will depend on whether the party continues to splinter or is able to unify over its core issues without being distracted.



The Left's reaction to AFD's success was quite typical. Rent-a-mobs in Leipzig tried to storm the town hall, where votes were still being counted, and where the AFD was holding their election party.



The same thing occurred in Berlin where another AFD election party was being held, and elsewhere, with protesters screaming things like 'Nazis Aus!' waving signs, breaking windows and generally acting out.

Unsurprising, since the German press (largely Left leaning) branded AFD as Nazis, and even German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel and other Merkelites made the idea of "real Nazis" entering the Bundestag a real issue during the campaign.

Are the AFD Nazis? While some of them likely lean in that direction and have questionable views on certain subjects, I'd have to say generally speaking that this is more a typical case of Leftist hypocrisy and frankly, projection. After all, there were no AFD brown shirts trying to violently storm CDU/CSU events! Nor does AFD regurgitate the Nazi's economic views, which were frankly socialist.

The election itself basically revolved around two main themes. Merkel is seen as the comfortable status quo. Germany is still prosperous, and a lot of its graying population (more than half of the 61 million voters are aged 52 or older) saw Merkel as a symbol of stability.

The other theme is the simple fact that many Germans feel unsafe in their own country. Women in particular are uneasy walking alone at night, riding the trains or using public swimming pools for obvious reasons. Whole areas in German cities are becoming no-go areas for non-Muslims, and the tax money needed to support the Muslim migrants is taking a huge bite out of German wallets. Many people are simply fed up, and the election results show that as well.

The German elections show a nation negotiating Dead Man's curve. If Germany continues its skid towards destruction, it will end up with Muslims ruling it under sharia as one of the most important countries in Europe literally falls to invasion. Ironically, given how Merkel touts it, that would also lead to the end of the EU, something that's pretty close to happening anyway since many nations in the EU aren't going along with the diktats of Merkel and her minions in Brussels when it comes to doing to their countries what Germany and Sweden have done to theirs.

If the Germans decide that enough is enough, if the AFD remains united and goes more mainstream, if Germany reaches a consensus on the harm Merkel's allowing a surge of Muslim migrants into Germany has done, they may yet make the turn on Dead Man's Curve and save their country.

In that case, this year's German elections may be the beginning of Germany's return to sanity.

And Mutti Merkel? She will likely end up a Chancellor again, but her term will be anything but smooth. I'd be very surprised if she finishes it.

Jihad In Germany? Gang with Axes Injures 5 At Train Station

A crowd of people waiting for the train at the Dusseldorf Station was attacked by a gang wielding axes who plunged into the waiting crowd. At least 5 people were injured, one seriously including a 13-year-old girl.

The German police have two suspects in custody, including one who jumped off a bridge in an attempt to escape according to the German newspaper Bild.

Their identities have not yet been released. Of course. Those Amish are really violent. Or were they Buddhist monks?

The police are also seeking two other suspects who apparently got away in the confusion. They apparently headed for the city center and are being sought. I'm betting that since only 5 people were hurt, those suspects might have been people fleeing from the carnage, but we'll see.

Needless to say, German media and the police are not only concealing the identities of the two men they arrested, they aren't even referring to it as terrorism at all, or even an attack. It's just an 'incident.'

Germany's elections are coming up, you know. Lass uns die Dinge ruhig halten, ja?*

Of course it's just an incident. Two men got together over coffee and just decided on a whim to get hold of some axes and attack a crowd waiting for the train. Happens every day, right?

Anyone want to bet these weren't Germany's refugees in action? We'll see.

UPDATE: The name of one attacker has been released. He has been identified as 36-year-old Fatmir H. originally from Kosovo.

Told you so. The German press and the authorities not only would have taken pains to say no 'refugees' were involved otherwise. And the axes were also a sure sign jihadis were involved. The last time an axe attack happened in Germany, back in 2016, it was a Pakistani 'refugee.'

The suspect the police didn't catch apparently went back to attacking the infidels and has probably already left the country. I'm guessing that because of where the latest attack occurred.

The Jihad Massacre In Berlin - Merkel's Handiwork

Germans and the world were horrified by a jihad massacre that occurred when a stolen truck plowed into a crowd of holiday shoppers at a Berlin Christmas market.

Twelve people were murdered, including three who were so badly mangled they haven't been identified yet. Over fifty were injured.

The truck itself was a huge 25 ton 18 wheeler with a Polish registry carrying steel beams as a cargo. It left the road and ran directly into the market, located in Breitscheidplatz Square in Berlin's main shopping area at 40 MPH.

 

The police investigation and examination of the truck showed that it had been hijacked. The driver, Lukasz Urban was shot while his truck was parked near the ThyssenKrupp engineering facility. His dead body was still in the truck.

German police originally arrested a 23-year-old Pakistani asylum seeker identified as Naved B
as a suspect. he'd been living in Germany since February. After interrogating him, they decided there wasn't sufficient evidence to try him for the truck attack. They also discovered that he had applied for asylum under a false name and had a criminal record he hadn't disclosed when he applied, they simply released him...believe it or not.

For reasons they haven't disclosed, German authorities still maintain that this was a jihadi attack. An unnamed 'senior security source' told the German newspaper Bild that so far, they have been unable to 'track' the wanted man. While they do know this was a terrorist attack, they're not certain at this point whether they're dealing with a so-called lone wolf or a larger terror cell.

ISIS,by the way, has already claimed credit and is promising more to come. and why not? Didn't they warn us multiple time how they had infiltrated the 'refugees?'

Berlin prosecutor Holger Münch warned of a 'serious threat' of another 'significant' terror attack and Berliners were urged to stay indoors.

Imagine that..telling an entire city of three and a half million people to stay indoors as the price for their government's enforced importation of over a million unvetted Muslim 'refugees.'

From last years' mass gang rape on New Years' Eve in Köln  to this latest atrocity, all o fit is owed by Chancellor Angela Merkel and her cronies, he shoved this through and foisted it on the German people.
There is blood on her hands, and there's no way she can simply wash it off. In the name of simple decency, she should resign...now.

Social Media Giants Cave In To Facist EU 'Speech Codes'

Social giants YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Microsoft have cravenly agreed to do their best to enforce EU 'hate speech' diktats on 'extremist content' from their websites, by creating a joint database that will share 'hashes,' their term for digital fingerprints they can automatically assign to so-called extremist content they have removed from their websites. The idea is that this date can be shared to enable the other platforms to ID and eliminate the same content on their platforms.

As we know by now, that 'extremist content' isn't going to include death threats to U.S. President-elect Donald Trump or threats to gang rape his wife, genocidal threats against Israel, jihadist content or racism from groups like #blacklivesmatter. What it will include is any criticism of militant feminism, criticism of Islam, news that isn't flattering to the influx of Muslim 'refugees' and/or mentions any crimes they commit or government policies favoring and enabling them, criticism of the EU or its governments and indeed, a fair amount of anything promoting conservative ideology.

Twitter is doing this already in America, as is FaceBook. Twitter is especially notorious for 'shadow banning,' a secret practice that allows the twitter to think his or her content is being published when in reality it's not visible to anyone else.That way,they can still claim the shadow banned victims as 'users' for selling advertising.

Fittingly, this EU diktat and the threats for non-compliance come predominantly from Germany. Volker Kauder, a senior member of German Chancellor Angela Merkel's Christian Democrats (CDU) has said openly that social media companies could face fines and criminal prosecution if they failed to comply. (emphasis mine)

"I expect from big companies like Facebook that they adhere to laws. If they are not respected than we must think about new possibilities, fines for example," he said.

Facebook declined immediate comment on his remarks.

Germany is seen as a forerunner when it comes to forcing Facebook to step up efforts to police online hate speech, which has risen here following an influx of almost one million migrants, mainly from the Middle East, last year.

Politicians are also worried about how hate speech and fake news could sway public opinion ahead of elections next year in which Merkel will be running for a fourth term and facing an increasingly popular far right.

Befehl ist befehl ja? So Achtung! Gehorchen oder sonst! *

In today EU, freedom of speech is highly restricted and you can face criminal prosecution for what amounts to legitimate criticism of government policy, especially when it comes to Islam or government policies that bringing in multitudes of unvettable Muslim 'refugees' with the inevitable accompaniments of increased crime, sexual assaults, unrest and increased social welfare costs. You might ask Geert Wilders about that one.

The 'fake news' accusation is ridiculous and applies far more to folks like Der Spiegel, the BBC, MSNBC, The NY Times, The Washington Post, CNN and similar outlets, as we've learned during thois last election and the Brexit controversy.

What the Germans and their EU counterparts want is ot extend that sort of fascism to social media and make it universal. In fact, that's exactly what we would have gotten here in America if Mrs. Clinton had been elected.Trust me on that one.

Given the ideology of the kind of people who run these social media sites, they would have gone along with it totally, the same way they're following orders from the EU. Of course, if they do so, at least in America, alternate platforms will simply spring up, like Gab, a coming substitute for Twitter.

But as far as the current social media giants, forewarned is forearmed. Remember, inside every 'progressive' is a totalitarian screaming to get out.

The Religion Of Peace Strikes Again - 9 Dead In Munich

Islamist killers struck again today. This time, the scene was Munich,Germany.

One of the killers targeted a McDonald's restaurant near the Olympia Einkaufszentrum mall in the district of Moosach and started firing into the crowded eatery while yelling the old war cry 'Allahu Akbar!'

One woman who was actually saw the shooter just before he started his rampage told CNN, 'I come out of the toilet and I hear like an alarm, boom, boom, boom. He's killing the children. The children were sitting to eat. They can't run.'

After shooting up the McDonald's, the killer sauntered into the mall itself and continued gunning down people, all the while screaming 'Allahu Akbar!' So far, nine people are dead and many badly wounded. The death toll so far may include one of the jihadis. At least 21 wounded were taken to the hospital in today's toll. At least three are said to be in critical condition.




According to Chief of Munich Police Marcus Dagloria Martins,there are at least three jihadi killers involved. In his last statement,he said, 'We are at the moment after three attackers. We have about 100 people on site and we are trying to evacuate people from the site. Our priority is to catch the attackers at this stage and then we will inform you again.

The entire city has been shut down as the police hunt for the two - or more - still unaccounted for. The main German rail company Deutsche Bahn has stopped all train traffic to Munich’s main station.

This is the second jihad attack in Germany in less than a week. Last Monday, a 17-year-old jihadi attacked people on a train in an in an ax-and-knife attack on a train near the Bavarian city of Wuerzburg and badly wounded four people as well as another woman outside as he fled until he was shot and killed by police.

'We welcome you to our country!'

 






Are the German people waking up yet to the fact that these 'guests' have no intention of sharing, but are there to take over? Do they realize that they are in the process of becoming a despised minority in their own country?

Almost all of these 'refugees' are young men of military age.  Did the Germans actually not notice this? Did they actually expect anything different?

How many more lives will it take? And when I ask that question, I am not just talking about Germany. They're just today's event d'jour.

UPDATE: The police an 'all clear'. The Jihadi, an 18-year-old Shi'ite Muslim killed nine people and wounded 16 others, including a number of children. People outside the mall claim to have seen at least three armed men,but the police are claiming that the killer 'apparently acted alone' which means they're either right about that or that the other two got away.

Here's the punchline - Munich police chief Hubertus Andrae told a news conference the suspect ('suspect'???) was a dual citizen from Munich and his motive was still "fully unclear".

'Suspect?' 'Fully unclear?' You can't make this stuff up.

Germany To Build Israeli Warships

Israel and the German government have finalized a deal for the German firm Thyssen Krupp to build four new corvettes for the Israeli Navy at the Kiel shipyards.

The exact details of what model the Israelis settled on is classified, but based on previous talks the ships will probably be either MEKO A100 class (pictured above) or the MEKO CSL's, something more along the lines of a littoral combat ship. The new frigates will be configured with Israeli electronics like IAI’s Elta’s EL/M-2248 MF-STAR radar systems and Israeli weaponry like the new Barak-8 medium range air defense missile. There's also a rear pad for an attack or recon helicopter. The cost of the deal is a billion euros, of which Germany will subsidize 115 million euros. This is a similar type of deal to the one Israel did with Germany to get its six Dolphin-class nuclear capable subs, also built at Kiel.

Israel's strategic mission for the corvettes is the protection of Israel's off shore drilling installations, so they needed a fast ship that can provide decent defense against any attacking enemies as well as surface attack punch. Israel's SOTA Heron UAVs are already operating in maritime patrols and the new ships will augment that.

The work is expected to start in a matter of weeks, as soon as the German parliament’s budget committee gives final approval, which is expected to be forthcoming.

BREAKING: Obama's 'Coalition Of Partners' On ISIS Chrashes And Burns

 


President Obama's ridiculous speech last night on combating the Islamic State had these main components - making sure to mention that Islamic State was neither a state or Islamic, airstrikes on Iraq and Syria, reassuring his Leftist base that no U.S. ground troops would be participating, and this:

This is our strategy. And in each of these four parts of our strategy, America will be joined by a broad coalition of partners.

Apparently President Obama opened his mouth before actually taking roll call on those 'allies.'

 

The Brits, supposedly our closest strategic ally have already said they won't do any airstrikes in Iraq and have expanded that 'no thanks': to include Syria:

Britain’s foreign secretary says his country won’t participate in airstrikes on Syria, following an announcement from Washington that it would begin hitting targets inside the country.

Speaking Thursday after talks with his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Philip Hammond said Britain won’t be “revisiting” the issue after Parliament decided last year against participating in airstrikes.

And apparently Steinmeier's presence was no accident. The Germans opted out too.

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier told a news conference in Berlin that Germany has not been asked to take part in the air strikes and would not be participating. “To quite clear, we have not been asked to do so and neither will we do so,” Steinmeier said.

Even more importantly, President Barack Obama's dear Islamist friend Turkey not only said it will not participate, but won't even let American forces use bases we lease in Turkey to attack The Islamic State:

Turkey will refuse to allow a US-led coalition to attack jihadists in neighbouring Iraq and Syria from its air bases, nor will it take part in combat operations against militants, a government official told AFP Thursday.

"Turkey will not be involved in any armed operation but will entirely concentrate on humanitarian operations," the official said on condition of anonymity.

Turkey's non-participation is key, because it borders both Iraq and Syria and has a reasonably strong, U.S. equipped military.

The Turks are refusing to get involved because when Mosul fell to The Islamic State, so did the Turkish Consulate and 49 hostages...and also because they don't want to encourage the Kurds because of their own suppressed Kurdinh minority in Turkey. And because they have backed The Islamic State from the start against Assad. You'd think someone might have whispered this  in the ear of our prevaricator-in-chief before he asked them to join up.

So who's left? The French? Possible, in a very limited way, but doubtful...remember all those French Muslim voters and the upcoming elections.Hollande and the socialists will need every vote they can get.

New Europe? The Poles, Baltic States, Georgia and Ukraine all contributed to Iraq and Afghanistan, but after the way the Obama Administration has treated them and what with Putin on the prowl, faggeddabbouddit.

There's the Sunni Arab states, and Secretary of State Kerry is headed there as I write this. The Saudis and the GCC may help,but again in a limited way and certainly not with boots on the ground. Aside from the fact that one of them Qatar is actually funding the Islamic State and has been for some time, there's also the problem of Iran, the president's new friend. The Saudis and the Emirates are smart enough to know even if Obama and Kerry aren't that if ISIS is taken off the board, there's no obstacle to Iran achieving its long time goal of a Shi'ite nuclear armed bloc.

They've long since stop trusting Obama's assurances on the matter. It remains to be seen what Kerry can promise them to get them fully involved. Certainly it won't be with boots on the ground.

The same applies to the Egyptians who are not exactly Obama fans at this point and have their own jihadis to deal with at home and next door in Libya thanks to this president. They won't be fighting in Iraq and Syria in any large way, and anything they do it will be for a steep price demanded of Obama.

That leaves Iran, Iran's Shi'ite militias, Hezbollah, the Iraqi army none of whom have been able to stop Islamic State's fighters thus far. And the Kurds, who don't trust Obama and will concentrate on defending their own territory. Oh, and about1,700 US 'advisers' (the president glossed over those in his speech) who are basically in the same position our advisers in Vietnam were circa 1962. 

Islamic State isn't going to be defeated by air strikes, and those are the boots on the ground. And is the U.S. going to act as the Shi'ite air force now, taking sides in the sectarian conflict in the region? I do seem to remember a certain freshman senator from Illinois and his Democrat buddies criticizing President Bush for getting us involved in a sectarian civil war in Iraq,don't you?

 I hope I'm wrong, but just watch as he sends more 'advisers' in to cover his chest thumping rhetoric.

President Obama has no real strategy, except to make it look like he's doing something and improve his terrible poll numbers before the election to try and hold the senate. As always, everything is about politics with this president - not the country.

 

UPDATE: It appears that just as I predicted, the Arab Countries are not entirely on board either. Can it be they too no longer trust this president? I guess when you lie to people habitually...

Germany To Sell Two Destroyers To Israeli Navy

 

Germany has agreed to sell two destroyers to the Israeli Navy at a cost of one billion euros ($1.3 billion). The new ships are a significant investment for the Israeli Navy, and will primarily be used to protect Israel's gas and oil pipelines in the Mediterranean.

The new destroyers are high-end MEKO Class F221 frigates with a full range of capabilities, equipped with 76MM guns, Surface to Air missiles, torpedoes, and Harpoon anti-ship missiles, so there's a good set of air defense, anti-ship, and anti-submarine weapons.

These would add punch to Israel's current Sa’ar 5 Corvettes, equipped with bow-mounted and towed sonars, 6x 324mm torpedo tubes for Mark 46 torpedoes, a Mk15 Phalanx 20mm gun and a Typhoon remotely-operated 7.62-30mm gun/missile systems, as well as the two upgraded Barak-8 missile launchers.

The Israelis also now have 5 of the 6 German-Built Dolphin-class nuclear-missile capable subs they purchased in their possession.

The Dolphins, with their 2700 mile cruising range can reach Iranian or Hezbollah targets easily.

Germany's Merkel Coasts To Re-Election With Huge Majority

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has won an historic third term as her Christian Democratic party (CDU) is on track to win 301 seats in the 598-seat Bundestag, enough to form a government without needing a coalition partner to govern.

The Social democrats (SDU) are behind by over 17 points, 25.45% of the vote to the CDU's 42.50%, although this could change slightly. Merkel's current center Right coalition partners, the Free Democrats (FDP), are likely headed for a major loss with just 4.7 per cent of yesterday’s vote, according to the exit poll. If their numbers stay there, they won't even cross the threshold to enter the Bundestag.

A lot of the FDP's votes went to the anti-EU Alternative für Deutschland (AfD, a brand new party that might get into the Bundestag on its first try, with 4.9% and rising. They'd only need 5% to hit the threshold.

The far Left Greens, who caused Merkel all kinds of trouble in her last coalition look to end up with about 8.40%, a loss of over 2% from the last election. They'll be in the Bundestag, but Merkel might not need them to govern in a coalition and if she does, like the SDU their influence would be curtailed after these election results. If the CDU does bring them into government (and it's certainly possible if the SDU declines to enter a coalition with Merkel) there might have to be changes after leading Green Party member Jürgen Trittin was implicated in the Greens' ongoing pedophilia scandal during the campaign that has its roots in the Greens' support for sex with minors that dates back to its early days in the 1980s. The Greens simply aren't very popular right now.

That said, the most likely coalition would be a center Left Right Coalition between the CDU and the Social Democratic Party, who will likely swallow their pride in order to be in government - especially if they got some decent ministries out of it.

Why did Angela Merkel win so big? Two words, competence and trust. Germany is an Island of prosperity in a Europe of financial instability, and Merkel - known as Mutti, 'Mom' to many Germans - gets the credit for steering th3e country through rocky waters in difficult circumstances. Germany's unemployment rate is only 6.8 percent compared with an average of 12.1 percent in the 17-nation euro zone.Over 70% of Germans approve of the job she's doing, and the pastor's Daughter from East Germany is a trusted leader they feel they can rely on.

She's noted for projecting calm and for her ability to seek consensus even with widely divergent groups, something that resonates deeply with Germans. They feel the country's in good hands with her.

This election was simply a huge vote of confidence for Merkel.It's that simple.

Germany Backs Away From EU Sanctions On Israel

 

As you know, the EU recently took a step towards rebuilding the walls of its Jewish ghettos when the European Commission, which is the operative arm of the EU arbitrarily issued instructions forbidding EU member states from cooperating, transferring funds, giving scholarships or issuing research grants to public or private bodies in Judea and Samaria, eastern Jerusalem, and even the Golan Heights. In other words, the new Jewish ghetto according to the EU consists of Israel's indefensible 1948 ceasefire lines.

I had a feeling at least some members of the EU might see this for what it is and react, and Germany, having been down this road before has been the first to disavow this ghettoization of Israel:

In a statement issued by MP Philipp Missfedler, the Bundestag spokesman for German chancellor Angela Merkel’s Christian Democratic Union party and its coalition partner the Bavarian Christian Social Union, he stated the guidelines are “pure ideology and symbolic politics” and will not contribute to finding a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Missfelder stated it is encouraging that the Federal Government has moved away from the new EU directives, which declared that from January 1 2014, Israeli projects in the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, east Jerusalem and the Golan Heights will no longer be given European Union financial backing.

“Israel is the recognized administrative power in the territories without which approved development projects like solar energy or sewage works could not be installed," Missfelder stated.

He continued that an implementation of the new EU guidelines could mean an “end of research cooperation with the Hebrew University in Jerusalem because some of their academics have an address in East Jerusalem."

Not to mention push back when it comes to German exports.

This is symbolic of the conflict between Germany's mainstream parties and the far Left
Greens, who are almost reflexively anti-Israel.

It'a also worth mentioning that Germany recently concluded a deal with Israel for two more Dolphin subs...with Germany subsidizing part of the cost.

3 Nights Of Muslim Riots - The EuroJihad spreads to Hamburg

 

The Hamburg-Altona area in Germany has been the scene of 3 days and nights of Muslim riots.

There have been a number of car-b-cues and attacks on police.

The riots apparently started Thursday night when some of the 'youths' were having fun blinding oncoming motorists with  laser pointers. When police moved in, they were faced with a crowd of 150 rioters many of whom aggressively assaulted police. More than 100 police officers came out in force, using pepper spray against the rioters. In response the mob hurled stones at the officers.There were about 16 arrests initially, some of which occurred when members of the crowd tried to free 'youths' the police had in custody. The old battle cry of 'Allahu Akbar' can clearly be heard:



Tonight has been relatively peaceful. The crowds are still out, although they're reportedly smaller.

What's most fascinating about this is that there has been no coverage of this whatsoever in the main stream media.

Proof The Germans Are Smarter About Egypt And Islamists Than Obama - Morsi Goes Home Empty Handed

 

As you may remember, aside from empowering the Muslim Brotherhood in their takeover of Egypt, the Obama Administration is actually funding the party, continuing Egypt's $1.5 billion in military aid, (which the Egyptian military uses in part to fund the civilian businesses it owns) gifting Egypt over $1 billion in debt forgiveness and lobbying the IMF on Egypt's behalf to grant the Islamist government a badly needed loan.

Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood president Mohammed Morsi's remarks that have recently surfaced referring to Jews as 'the descendants of apes and pigs' along with a few other choice epithets haven't fazed the Obama Administration one bit, although there are still members of Congress putting as hold on a shipment of F-16s and Abrams tanks the Obama Administration wants to send Morsi's way.

Not so in Germany.

Morsi went there seeking direct aid from Germany, as well as $324 million in debt forgiveness. The German response ? Nein, although Chancellor Merkel, practical hausfrau that she is at heart,  did give him some advice on fixing Egypt's problems:

 "What matters now is that the work that needs be done, gets done," she said. Against the backdrop of turmoil in Egypt, the chancellor told Morsi that sturdy economic development contributed to political stability.

The Germans, for reasons that can be easily imagined are extraordinarily sensitive to manifestations of Jew hatred that recall the bad old days, and Morsi's rants guaranteed him a frosty reception in Germany.

Morsi, for his part, claims the remarks were taken out of context, a pretty obvious lie since  his  remarks were videotaped, happened on multiple occasions and we're talking about a direct Qu'ran quotation. What was good enough for President Obama and Secretary Clinton simply didn't fly with the Germans. As a matter of fact, Germany recently declared a new travel warning, advising Germans to stay away from the Egyptian Museum in central Cairo, one of the most popular tourist sites in the country. Or at least, it used to be.

Chancellor Merkel also advised Morsi to work more closely with the Egyptian opposition to make the country more democratic and to modify the Islamist 'constitution' to guarantee more protection for civil liberties and more rights for non-Muslims and women.

I doubt that will happen, particularly if one of Morsi's long time associates who left the Brotherhood is right about whom Morsi really is.

The Ikhwan, the Muslim Brotherhood has a long history of using deception to fool its enemies.

A Matter Of Circumcision And Religious Freedom

A state court in Germany recently banned ritual circumcision after a botched Muslim circumcision of a teenaged boy who suffered medical complications after being circumcised.

Now things have revved up, with criminal charges being filed for the first time against a Jewish rabbi for performing circumcisions, the Jewish religious rite of brit millah:

A doctor from Hesse filed a criminal complaint against Rabbi David Goldberg, who serves in the community of Hof, in Upper Franconia (northern Bavaria), according to the Juedische Allgemeine weekly newspaper. The chief prosecutor of Hof confirmed that charges had been filed against the rabbi. {...}

“I am shocked,” said Cologne Rabbi Yaron Engelmayer, co-chairman of the national umbrella group of Orthodox rabbis in Germany, in a first reaction to the report. This marks the first time that a court in the Federal Republic of Germany is investigating a rabbi for performing a religious ritual, Engelmayer told the paper.

Goldberg, a qualified mohel (ritual circumciser) who says he has performed more than 3,000 circumcisions, was informed about the criminal charges against him by journalists, the paper said.

Born in Jerusalem, the 64-year-old has been the rabbi of Hof since 1997. Before World War II, about 3,000 Jews lived in Hof. Today, the community counts about 400 members.

“This latest development in Hof is yet another grave affront to religious freedom and underlines the urgent need for the German government to expedite the process of ensuring that the fundamental rights of minority communities are protected. We call upon the Minister of the Interior to take immediate action to secure those rights in the short term,” Conference of European Rabbis, Chief Rabbi Pinchas Goldschmidt said.

In view of the uproar this is causing, it's worth addressing in some detail.

Since this is a state court in Germany, allusions and references to the Holocaust have been evoked, and frankly I think unjustly. As opposed to certain other perpetrators and defenders of genocide and ethnic cleansing, particularly in the Muslim world, the Germans have the virtue, if it can be called that, of being forthcoming about their role in the Holocaust. As a matter of fact, they are one of the few countries in Europe to do so. Hitler and the Nazis had many willing accomplices.

Nor are today's Germans, with the exception of some aged Nazi sympathizers running out the clock the same people who perpetrated that horrific stain on human history.

That said, let's look at the actual arguments for banning and criminalizing ritual Jewish circumcision.

I can't speak for Germany, but here in the United States the anti-circumcision lobby is largely populated by homosexual activists and garden variety anti-Semites. It's no accident that legislation to put in place city ordinances banning circumcision got on the ballot in San Francisco and in Santa Monica, both 'progressive' cities with active and powerful gay populations and lobbies. By the way, both proposed ordinances were removed from the ballot when the 'progressive' politicians in these cities realized that they were in clear violation of the First Amendment and would have subjected them to costly litigation and a hefty financial judgment.

The argument, as in Germany, was that male circumcision constitutes an 'assault' and 'bodily harm' to infants and thus interferes with their later sexual pleasure.

Actually there is significant scientific evidence that male circumcision does in fact act as a preventive in penile cancer, venereal disease and the transmission of AIDS.

This makes common sense, because the foreskin by design is a repository for germs and disease if not kept rigorously clean..and sometimes even if it is. And it's why 80% of American males, Jewish and gentile have had this procedure done as infants.

However, there are those whom deride the scientific evidence and come with studies of their own showing that it has no effect, but even these studies ( a number of them funded by fairly murky groups) admit that at worse it does no physical harm.

Is that a reason to not only ignore a possible health benefit and ban a religiously sanctified ritual that goes back to the days of Abraham and discriminate against people who take their religion seriously? One wonders how the activists pushing for the ban would react if similar tolerance was practiced against them and their lifestyles.

A second argument, and a potent one in Germany because of its Muslim population has to do with the limits of religious tolerance. After all, if male circumcision is allowed for Jews and Muslims, shouldn't the female circumcision practiced in the Muslim world be allowed too?

Female circumcision, or to be more correct, clitorectomies and enfibrillation is also known quite rightly as Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). It has none of the health benefits associated with male circumcision.

It is designed to help 'control' women's sexual urges and pleasure in the sexual act by removing all or part of the clitoris or even 'stitching' up a young girl's vagina as a form of domination.The process is also not done on infants, but on prepubescent girls, frequently without anesthesia.

This is quite in line with Islam's philosophy towards women and has been endorsed by a number of Muslim clerics and religious leaders, including Sheikh Qaradiwi, spiritual head of the Muslim Brotherhood and one of the most popular Muslim clerics in the world, thanks to his widely watched show on al-Jazeera.

This would certainly seem give weight to the argument that FGM is part of Muslim religious practice and should thus be protected.There are estimates that over 80% of Egypt's women have undergone this procedure, particularly in rural areas.

However, things like what amounts to felony animal torture,ritual prostitution and wife beating are also religiously sanctioned practices in some beliefs, with the last one also sanctioned by Islam...as is religiously sanctioned prostitution through the institution of 'temporary marriages' which allows wealthy Persian Gulf Arabs to go and and purchase adolescents girls in poorer countries like Egypt and India as temporary sex toys.

Germany, at least at this point, is a civilized western nation. Are the proponents of a ban on the Jewish practice of ritual circumcision of male infants saying that Germany and other countries should make no differentiation between that and practices like FGM, 'temporary marriages' and wife beating?

Perhaps they are, since the proponents of a ban on circumcision normally are distinguished by a raging hostility towards all religion for reasons I'm sure you can come up with on your own.

However, their arguments are noticeably flaccid when looked at clearly. And I'm sure the German government will see it the same way.

Sanctions? What Sanctions? German Firms Shipping Dual-Use Goods To Iran

My friend ace reporter Benni Weinthal has a great story in the Jerusalem Post about how wonderfully the sanctions on Iran are working. Dual-use goods, for those of you unfamiliar with the term refers to items that can be used for either military or civilians purposes...a nice cover for both the Iranian regime and those wishing to get rich selling them the toys they want. Here's a slice:

Germany’s multi-billion euro bilateral trade relationship with Iran continues unabated, even as evidence mounts that the Islamic Republic is determined to build a nuclear weapons capability.

The Jerusalem Post has obtained an uncensored list from late 2011, showing hundreds of German and Iranian enterprises in a flourishing trade relationship.

This is despite Iran’s construction of Fordow, a medium-level uranium enrichment facility buried into the side of a mountain near Qom, and the fact that the German equipment could be used to build more underground nuclear facilities.

Some businesses have asked that their names be removed from the list to avoid damage to their reputations.

One company named is Baden-Württemberg-based engineering giant Herrenknecht AG, which appears to be delivering heavy tunneling equipment to Iran – some of which is promoted as having the capability of “drilling down to depths of 6,000 meters.” {...}

Tommy Steiner, a senior research fellow at the Institute for Policy and Strategy at the Interdisciplinary Center, Herzliya, told the Post on Sunday: “Since the 1960s, Germany has been a steadfast ally of Israel and contributed to Israel’s national security. One would hope that the German authorities would apply rigid scrutiny to dual-use equipment and technology that meets the criteria of sanctions enforcement.”

The revelations have surfaced at a tricky moment for German diplomacy with Iran over its nuclear program. The Federal Republic is a member of the so-called the P5+1 — the five permanent members of the UN Security Council, plus Germany — and German diplomat Helga Schmid led last week’s technical nuclear negotiations in Istanbul with representatives of Iran’s government.

Late last month, Germany’s Federal Statistical Office said that bilateral trade with Iran in 2011 totaled nearly 4 billion euros (with about 3b. euros in German exports and 778m. euros in Iranian imports).

In fairness, it's by no means just the Germans. Nor does the article cover items sold to countries like Russia and Turkey, who freely violate the sanctions. They can buy from companies in Germany and elsewhere and then simply 'resell' the items to the Iranian regime, with no one looking over their shoulder.

The sanctions are annoying to Iran, but not damaging enough to stop them from pursuing their illegal nuclear weapons program.That's priority one for the regime, and it has been for quite some time.

Stopping Iran from going nuclear is going to take more forceful means.

The Eurozone's Time Of Decision

Next week, there is a major summit of EU leaders scheduled. They're going to try to hash out some way of dealing with their ongoing fiscal crisis. Italy's Prime Minister Mario Monti was fairly stark about what's at stake.

As I predicted earlier, Spain's bailout without the insistence of major austerity measures and reduced government spending had been the signal for what amounts to a 'gang bang' on German
Chancellor Angela Merkel. Not only does Italy expect a bailout on similar terms, but Portugal and Ireland now want their bail out agreements amended to cut back on mandatory austerity measures. And they now have another important player piling on Merkel - the head of the International Monetary Fund, Christine Lagarde:

IMF managing director Christine Lagarde warned that the euro is under "acute stress" and urged eurozone leaders to channel aid directly to struggling banks rather than via governments. She also called on the European Central Bank (ECB) to cut interest rates.

The stark message from Lagarde, delivered to eurozone finance ministers who were meeting in Luxembourg, will increase pressure to come up with a unified approach to tackle problems including Spain's struggling banks. She urged the 17 eurozone countries to consider jointly issuing debt and helping troubled banks directly. She also suggested relaxing the strict austerity conditions imposed on countries that have received bailouts.

"We are clearly seeing additional tension and acute stress applying to both banks and sovereigns in the euro area," Lagarde said after the meeting. {...}

One of Lagarde's recommendations for Europe was that eurozone leaders should consider issuing bonds or debt "in some form" backed by the governments of all member countries. Berlin opposes the idea because it would put German taxpayers on the hook for foreign debts and increase the country's cost of borrowing.

In addition, Lagarde said it was necessary to break "the negative feedback loop" that occurs when governments take on more debt to bail out their banks, and she called on Europe's two emergency bailout funds to shore up shaky banks directly.

Let's translate what 's going on here, and more importantly, who it's coming from.

This the head of the IMF, a crucial player in the world's financial order and a major potential source of funds for the EU's troubled economies. And what she's telling Angela Merkel and the Germans is that the IMF's support for the eurozone is questionable unless the Germans and other healthier members of the eurozone agree to purchase Greek, Spanish, Italian, Irish and Portuguese debt that the market has already decided are perfectly lousy investments. Moreover, she wants that debt purchased at at artificially lowered interest rates, and she wants the money to go directly to the banks, so the entire eurozone is on the hook for it rather than individual countries.

The idea here is simple. If the Germans bend over for it,the contagion from the affected countries will be spread throughout the entire system. At the same time, the 'purchase' of the debt plus low interest rates will allow the affected countries to chuck any ideas of fiscal austerity and engage in 'growth' - a euphemism for increased government spending.

If Angela Merkel agrees to this, she's likely to become history politically if the current polls are any indication of how the average German feels about this sort of arrangement.

Even if it goes through, it's a recipe for ruin, and I don't see how it can last for long.

The Markets Have Spoken - Spain's Bailout Is A Failure

As the above chart shows ( h/t Brad Plumer at the WAPO), the band-aid applied to th elatest case of gangrene in the eurozone hasn't fooled investors one bit. Spain's borrowing cost ( orange) shot upward to almost 6.5%.

Italy, the next domino in the ongoing crisis, (gray) saw its borrowing cost increase to nearly 6%.

Translation? Investors don't think they're going to be paid back, and will simply end up losing most of their investment in the form of a 'haircut', ala Greece.

The investors whom already own these securities are seeing their investments plummet in value, since not only are few people interested in buying Spanish or Italian government debt, they certainly aren't willing at the earlier, lower rates without a huge price discount.

I think we can call this a failure in any EU language you like.

As I said before, without major cuts in the European nanny state and major changes in demographics, there's no way shoveling more and more money down this rat hole can work. Debt at a level of 110% of Spain's Gross Domestic Product is simply unsustainable.

Spain, along with most of the EU is not reproducing at even replacement levels, and there simply aren't going to be enough young Spanish workers to pay the debt off. And for that matter, this also applies to Germany. There's no way 42 Germans in the future are going to be willing or able to carry the load for the eurozone that 100 Germans have been committed to carrying now...especially given how opposed those 100 are to it.

Merkel 'Evolving' On Spanish Bailout Deal Without Austerity Program Attached

German Chancellor Angela Merkel appears to be caving in:

A deal is in the works that would allow Spain to recapitalize its stricken banks with aid from its European partners but avoid the embarrassment of having to adopt new economic reforms imposed from the outside, German officials say.

While Berlin remains firm in its rejection of Spain's calls for Europe's rescue funds to lend directly to its banks, the officials said that if Madrid put in a formal aid request, funds could flow without it submitting to the kind of strict reform program agreed for Greece, Portugal and Ireland.

Instead, Spain would only have to agree to new conditions tied to the reform of its banking sector. Berlin is also exploring the possibility of funneling aid to Spain's Fund for Orderly Bank Restructuring rescue mechanism (FROB) to reinforce the message that it is the country's banks and not its public finances which are at the root of its problems.

The evolving German stance on aid for Spain is the latest evidence that Chancellor Angela Merkel is adopting a more flexible approach to solving the euro zone's deepening debt crisis.

There are a few problems with this.

First of all, Merkel is going to have to somehow convince German taxpayers to go along with it.

Second, the amount of money requested is staggering, larger than any previous bailout. At current birthrates, Germany's newer generation of taxpayers is going to be far less than its current one, and Spain is even further behind in reproducing its present population. If a debt of 110% of Gross Domestic Product can't be paid off now by 100 Spaniards, it's highly unlikely that 30 Spaniards are going to be able to do it. Nor is it likely that 42 Germans are going to be able to continue to support the same level of largesse for the entire eurozone that 100 Germans do today,paying off long term debts that are essentially valueless at his point anyway, since they're based on a real estate and construction bubble that makes what happened in America look benign by comparison.

And third, Chancellor Merkle is going to be pinned down on the sofa and subjected to what I call the gang bang rationale.."hey, you did it for him, you can do it for me, so just lay back and enjoy it."

The Greeks, the Portuguese and the Irish have already been subjected to severe austerity packages for past bailouts, and those programs, if you can call it that, are still ongoing. After seeing Spain get even more money for doing absolutely nothing but threatening to leave the euro, they're going to want their austerity programs waived too..or else. And other countries in similar territory, like Italy, are going to want to pull the same thing.

Merkle and Germany would be far better off telling Spain (and Greece, for that matter) to get bent. Either that, or simply writing off their debts and taking the pain now while it's still manageable rather than spreading the infection throughout the eurozone.

To go back to the analogy I used the other day, it's a choice between amputation and learning to enjoy gangrene as it spreads throughout the remaining healthy parts of the body.

Der Spiegel: Israel’s German-built Submarines Are Equipped With Nuclear Weapons

The German publication Der Spiegel has reported that the Dolphin-class submarines built (and partially financed) by Germany and supplied to Israel are equipped with a special hydraulic launch system capable of launching nuclear missiles. They're also saying that Germany was fully aware of this but chose not to publicize it.

This is all part of a 12-page expose entitled “Secret Operation Samson: How Germany arms nuclear Israel.”

Of course, to those of you whom read these pages regularly, none of this is exactly news. The Dolphin-class subs ( Israel now has four with two more scheduled for delivery) are perfect additions for Israel's naval needs.

They have a cruising range of 4,500 km/ 2,700 miles, which makes some potentially interesting targets in Iran or Hezbollah's bases in Lebanon easily reachable for Israel's “Popeye Turbo” cruise missiles, which are also nuclear capable. The ten torpedo tubes can also fire torpedoes or anti-ship missiles like Boeing’s UGM-86 Harpoons, and the Dolphins also have a wet and dry compartment for deploying underwater frogmen and commandos.

The Israeli newspaper Yediot's translation of the Der Spiegel piece quotes it as saying, “Research in Germany, Israel and the US leaves no room for doubt. Using German marine technology, Israel has created a floating nuclear arsenal in the Middle East.”

According to the article, German Chancellor Angela Merkel has denied that the submarines have the capability to carry nuclear warheads. In truth, according to the Der Spiegel report, the German government has long been aware of the nuclear capability of the submarines, but out of understanding for Israel’s security needs has always agreed to “look the other way.”

It really doesn't make any difference whether Merkel was telling the truth, of course. The Israelis have a long history of modifying foreign military equipment to suit their own needs that goes back to the 1948 War of Independence, when the Jewish State was largely limited to whatever arms they could manage to manufacture, purchase on the black market or capture from the Arabs.

There's no question that they have the technology to make the Dolphins nuclear-capable whether the Germans went along with it or not.
