While a certain Nobel Peace prize recipient may have received a great deal more press, the 2009 Nobel Prize in Chemistry winner is not without interest.
She is Dr.Ada Yonath of the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel, who received the Prize for over four decades of ground breaking work on protein "factories" in cells.
This research is invaluable in trying to overcome antibiotic-resistant bacteria and disease prevention, among other vital applications.
Dr. Yonath is first female chemistry laureate since 1964, and only the fourth in history. And her Award marks Israel's ninth Nobel Prize and its second one in chemistry.
Not too bad for a country only sixty-one years old that's been under attack ever since it was founded...

Yeah, I know her politics are ridiculous.
I was just impressed at Israel winning 9 Nobels in sixty years for actual accomplishment, unlike a certain recent honoree I could name.
