All jokes aside, this is an enormous stride for the Iraqi people; they now have a constitution and a republic..if they can keep it, as Ben Franklin once famously said. Congratulations and best wishes for them, indeed.

This by no means signals an end to the terrorism. But it gives the Iraqi people something to fight for..and it signals to the Sunni holdouts that they can either be part of the new democratic Iraq or in control of a poverty stricken oil poor enclave in the so-called Sunni Triangle while the Kurds and Shiites get on with rebuilding their respective nations.

Makes you proud to be an American, doesn't it?
