Senator Menendez Makes A Stand On Israel



Joshua's Army member Zeb G. sent me a link to this speech Senator Robert Menendez ( D-NJ) made on the Senate floor on June 16, 2009. In thirteen minutes, the Senator rebutted the key parts of President Obama's shameful nonsense in the president's Cairo speech about Israel in superlative fashion and summarized why the US alliance with Israel is of major importance to both countries.

It's a speech that deserves to be spotlighted, and it's an indication that something may be going on under the surface.

Senator Menendez has been a senator from New Jersey for a long time, and like most successful politicians he has his ear to the ground. New Jersey has a large and active Jewish community and if the senator is publicly challenging the Obama narrative on Israel in this fashion, it's because he's hearing from his constituents, and I would bet he's particularly hearing from older Jews who support Israel but who vote Democratic out of long habit and are waking up to the kind of 'change' they endorsed on November.

In short, the natives are restless, and with good reason.

Bob Wexler, Ira Foreman and the other Lefty Jews who lied through their teeth about Obama's pro-Israel stance have a great deal to answer for.

Letterman Loses Another Sponsor


Opening your mouth has consequences...

The Olive Garden Restaurant chain has become the latest ex-sponsor of the David Letterman show:

Following a week of back and forth between CBS late night comic David Letterman and Sarah Palin over a crude joke he told about the Alaska Republican governor’s daughter, the Olive Garden restaurant says it is cancelling all of its scheduled ads on Letterman’s “Late Show” for the rest of the year.

In an email to a Letterman critic obtained by POLITICO, a spokeswoman for the Italian restaurant chain wrote that “there will be no more Olive Garden ads scheduled for ‘The Late Show’ with David Letterman in this year's broadcast schedule,” citing the talk show host’s “inappropriate comments.”

“We apologize that Mr. Letterman’s mistake, which was not consistent with our standards and values, left you with a bad impression of Olive Garden,” wrote Sherri Bruen, the company’s guest relations manager.


The 'mistake' they're talking about was a number of nasty, over the line jokes Letterman used on his show when Governor Palin and members of her family were in New York at a charity fundraiser for special needs kids.

Aside from comments about Governor Palin visiting Bloomindale's to "update her slutty flight attendant look" Letterman went after Palin's 14-year old daughter Willow, implying that she was a hooker by saying that Governor Palin should keep her daughter away from ex-New York Governor Elliot Spitzer and joking about her getting
“knocked up by Alex Rodriguez” during the governor and her family’s visit to a Yankees' baseball game as Rudy Giuliani's guests.

Letterman's first response to the reaction over this was essentially to say that the Palin's couldn't take a joke', but after several sponsors cancelled and a major demonstration was scheduled outside Letterman's show at the Ed Sullivan theater, CBS apparently leaned on Letterman and got an actual apology out of him, which Governor Palin tersely accepted.

But apparently a great many people still feel that a talk show host making cruel and abusive `jokes' about a young teenage girl shouldn't be acceptable, and CBS and Letterman are continuing to experience sponsor fallout and declining ratings.

Good.Keep writing the sponsors. And write the Olive Garden HERE to commend them on their stand for basic decency.

As for Letterman, he ought to consider himself fortunate.One hundred and fifty years ago he would have had to fight a duel over this kind of thing..and as it is, I'm sure Todd Palin would love an opportunity to explain to this creep up close and in person why it would be healthy for Letterman to avoid insulting his wife and daughters in the future. In a small room with only one exit, and no witnesses.

The EU Caves On Hamas


While the European Union is avoiding upgrading ties with Israel, legitimizing the genocidal murderers in Hamas looks to be just around the corner.

Today, in the EU statement on Mideast policy, they avoided reiterating the traditional formula based on the Roadmap that called for Hamas to to forswear terrorism, recognize Israel or accept previous PLO agreements with Israel. This has always been a part of such EU declarations in the past:

Government sources in Jerusalem said France led the efforts to keep what has become known as the Quartet's three conditions on Hamas from being included in the European Council's conclusions on the Middle East peace process

Instead, the statement said the foreign ministers expressed "continued encouragement for inter-Palestinian reconciliation behind [Palestinian Authority] President Mahmoud Abbas and support for the mediation efforts by Egypt and the Arab League."

The foreign ministers called "on all Palestinians to find common ground, based on nonviolence, in order to facilitate reconstruction in Gaza and the organization of elections."


The Obama Administration is right behind the EU in this regard, what with pledging almost a billion dollars for Gaza that will enable Hamas to use its funds to train fighters purchase weaponry to kill Jews instead of spending it on doing anything for the people of Gaza. And that doesn't even count the money we're giving Abbas or the millions of US tax dollars spent on the army we're arming and training for Abbas under general Keith Dayton.

And according to General Dayton unless the Israelis decide to commit national suicide by giving in to all of the Palestinian's demands, they could rebel...or in other words, they'll simply turn their weapons on Israel, something Abbas has eluded to a number of times . Which is exactly what Abbas' old boss Yasir Arafat did before with the 'security forces' and weapons we gave Fatah.

Even Cwazy Unkie Jimmy Carter is back in the act.After meeting with his pals in Hamas, he's on the way to talk to President Obama about taking these murderers off the US terrorism list..

What this is about, of course is legitimizing Hamas just like the PLO was legitimized.And while Arafat had to lie between his poisoned fangs and make a few promises he never had any intention of keeping in order to get anointed as a 'peace partner' and get that western aid money rolling in, Hamas will probably not even have to go that far.

For the EU, it's a matter of politics and trying to keep the streets quiet. France, for instance, has a population of over 4 million Muslims and growing and perhaps half a million Jews. In the UK, it's about 2.75 million Muslims to something like 250,000 Jews, if that much, a ration of ten to one. In Belgium, the ratio of Jews to Muslims is about the same as in the UK.

EU politicians want the votes, especially the socialists. And while they're sure the Jews won't riot if they take an anti-Semitic stand, they know the Muslims will if they're too openly friendly towards Israel.

Europe made a decision a long time ago to trade 6 million Jews for 50 million Muslims.It's a choice with consequences they may yet live to regret.

And Barack Hussein Obama? With him, it's a matter of his background, his history and his personal ideology.

Iran 'Election' Update


My Iranian correspondents tell me that the regime pretty much has things under control in Tehran since the crackdown. The protests over the so-called election were pretty much limited to Mousavi's followers among students and the middle class in that city.

As I expected what the regime essentially did was to give the protesters some space to vent for a while and then send the Pasdaran and the basij in to crack heads and drag away some of the more obnoxious offenders for a quiet chat and a few lessons in proper Islamic deportment.One thing that particularly moved me was an e-mail I got recounting how a group of Iranian women at the university tried to stand their ground against the basij after their male co-demonstrators fled.

The women were not treated gently.

The Supreme Council has announced that they would look into the alleged 'election' irregularities, which will also provide an excuse for things to cool down. Needless to say, it will come to absolutely nothing. As a matter of fact, Ahmadinejad felt secure enough to leave the country and attend a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Yekaterinberg, Russia.

Any nonsense you might hear in places like the New York Times about the regime 'blinking' or yielding to the demands of some protesters in Tehran are farcical, to say the least. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is in and he's going to stay in, as long as he does what the mullahs tell him to do. The fact that this 'revolution' is centered around Tehran University and being coordinated via Twitter, a means of communication limited to some of the Middle classes and students in Tehran and not even available in most of Iran should tell you everything you need to know.

Both Mousavi and Ahmadinejad were vetted by the Mullahs beforehand, and neither would have been permitted to run without their permission. And anyone who thinks that Mousavi being 'elected' would have marked any change to some kind of new order in Iran is simply kidding themselves. On issues that matter to the West - Iran's quest for nuclear weapons, threats of genocide vis a vis Israel, interference in Iraq and Afghanistan, support for Islamist terrorism and any reasonable compromises with the West on these issues, the two candidates were virtually twins.

Mousavi is a proponent of Islamist triumphalism and terrorism, a hardliner on Iran's illegal nuclear weapons program and an anti-Semite who has called for the Israel to be destroyed.The main difference was one of social class and `image'.

They were each backed by factions within the Supreme Council of Guardians, with the main point of difference being whether a new face and a less openly confrontative appearance was needed to buy more time with the West to complete Iran's nukes. After Obama's self-abasement in Cairo and his obvious acceptance of a nuclear armed Iran, the Mullahs realized that having Mousavi, the 'moderate' as president wasn't necessary, and Khamenei and the majority of the Council decided to solidly back Ahmadinejad - who as a populist from the working classes and a former baseji trainer during the Iran -Iraq war likely has a great deal more popular support in Iran as a whole anyway.

Again, just so nobody misses it - Obama's lap dance in Cairo,his statements about Iran being entitled to nuclear energy and his clear signals that he has no plans to do anything to stop the mullahs from going nuclear was what likely conveinced Khamenei and the mullahs that the kabuki of having a supposed 'moderate' as president was simply not necessary.

Appeasement has its price.

A bit of irony - Ahmadinejad’s re-election slogan was “Ma mitavanim” (We can).Just like Obama’s “Yes we can”.

Iran is a theocracy ruled,ultimately, by Allah and his representatives here on earth, the Mullahs. The Islamic revolution is what's important, and that trumps everything. Hoping for any kind of reform through what passes for Iran's electoral process is an exercise in futility, and it will only happen if the Pasdaran and the armed forces either join a revolt against the mullahs or stand aside, as they did in 1979.

President Obama finally broke his silence on the matter and made some desultory remarks about 'deep concerns' over the elections. Due to the fact his teleprompter was obviously not working, the president didn't have much that was coherent to say, but I must admit that I actually agree with the President's relative silence in this case.

Nothing he says is going to make the slightest bit of difference in what goes on in Iran at any level. It's his actions that are going to count, and so far, everything he's said and done has simply encouraged to Mullahs to become more intransigent and hard line.

If a rattlesnake crawls into your yard and is menacing your family, you don't deal with it by talking to it.

UPDATE: Bill Siegal over at The National Review, Bret Stephens in the WSJ and the one and only Ralph Peters apparently agree with my take on this - Mousavi is no 'reformer' and Ahmadinejad was retained as president because of the Mullah's realization of how gutless and ineffectual President Obama is.

Letterman Apologizes To The Palins

And for real, this time. With none of the 'Palins can't take a joke' nonsense like before.



Just a coincidence of course, but after having a few sponsors voice concerns and with a major demonstration scheduled for tommorow of outside Letterman's show at the Ed Sullivan theater, CBS might just have leaned on Letterman to man up.

Obviously, you made your voices heard in the right places over this sleazy scumbag.

Personally, I still hope Todd Palin gets a chance to explain to Letterman up close and in person why it's unwise to trash and insult his family - in a small room, just the two of them with no witnesses...


CAIR Served In Federal Fraud And Racketeering Case


Some definite good news on the legal front.

The former "national director" of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR)Tahra Goraya was served as a defendant in a Federal RICO case that involves her and a large chunk of CAIR's American leadership:

Goraya served as "national director" of the Council on American-Islamic Relations at the time of the alleged fraudulent scheme perpetrated by CAIR and its national leadership in Washington, D.C.


According to the complaint filed by former CAIR clients in November 2008, Goraya was directly involved in the fraud and cover-up. Goraya apparently resigned from CAIR sometime after the fraudulent scheme was fully underway and moved back to her home state of California. There she took a job as District Director for California State Senator Carol Liu. Goraya was served with the summons and complaint at Senator Liu's Glendale offices. She has until June 30th to file her response with the court.


The federal racketeering (or RICO) lawsuit was filed November 18, 2008 in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia by four former CAIR clients. The complaint alleges criminal fraud and racketeering against CAIR, a self-described Muslim public interest civil rights law firm. The lawsuit also names CAIR's national leadership, including Goraya, as individual defendants.


The lawsuit alleges that Morris Days, who served as the "Resident Attorney" and "Manager for Civil Rights" at the now defunct CAIR chapter in Herndon, Virginia, was in fact not an attorney and that he defrauded hundreds of CAIR clients by failing to provide legal services for which they had paid.


While attorney David Yerushalmi represents the four plaintiffs in this particular lawsuit, two of whom are African American Muslims, the complaint alleges that according to CAIR internal documents, there are hundreds of victims of the CAIR-Days fraud scheme.

According to the complaint, CAIR failed to conduct a background check on Days prior to hiring him and when they did discover his massive fraud, rather than inform their clients and authorities, they immediately set about to conspire with Days to continue the fraud and to cover it up. CAIR officials purposefully concealed the truth about Days from their clients, law enforcement, the Virginia and D.C. state bar associations, and the media. When CAIR began fielding irate calls from clients about Days' failure to provide competent legal services, CAIR fraudulently deceived their clients about Days' relationship to CAIR, suggesting he was never actually employed by CAIR, and even concealed the fact that CAIR finally fired him for criminal fraud.


"The evidence has long suggested that CAIR is a criminal organization set up by the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas to further its aims of stealth Jihad in the U.S.," Mr. Yerushalmi was quoted at the time of the filing referring to the fact that CAIR has been named by the federal government as an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation terror financing trial which led to multiple convictions, including at least one CAIR founding member and senior executive.

"But our investigation and this complaint make clear that CAIR's criminal activities know no bounds," Yerushalmi continued.


"According to the facts as carefully laid out in this complaint," Yerushalmi explained. "CAIR has engaged in a massive cover-up of a criminal fraud in which literally hundreds of CAIR clients have been victimized and because of the CAIR cover-up they still don't realize it. The fact that CAIR has victimized Muslims and non-Muslims alike demonstrates that CAIR is only looking out for CAIR and its ongoing effort to bilk donors out of millions of dollars of charitable donations thinking they are supporting a legitimate organization."


Discovery on this case, which will allow CAIR's internal documents to be examined should prove particularly interesting, and could lead to other indictments.Yerushalmi claims to have heard from additional former CAIR clients and victims and expects to either call them as witnesses or include them as additional plaintiffs.

Aside from covering up Days fraud scheme, the complaint alleges that CAIR officials in D.C. forced clients who demanded a return of their bogus legal `fees' to sign a release that bought the client-victims' silence by prohibiting them from informing law enforcement or the media about the fraud. According to the release agreement, if the "settling" clients revealed the scam, CAIR would be able to sue them for $25,000:

This enforced code of silence left hundreds of CAIR client-victims in the dark such that to this day they have not learned that Days is not an attorney and that he had not filed the legal actions on their behalf for which Days and CAIR publicly claimed credit.

The complaint identifies CAIR as a racketeering enterprise under the federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), which is a criminal racketeering statute that allows victims to sue the defendants in civil court. In addition to damages, the plaintiffs are seeking injunctive relief under this and other statutes to shut down CAIR and to prevent the individual defendants from engaging in public interest legal work in the future.


The named defendants are: the Council on American-Islamic Relations Action Network Inc. (dba CAIR); Nihad Awad aka Nihad Hammad who serves as executive director of CAIR National; Parvez Ahmed who was the chairman of the board of CAIR National during the relevant time period; Tahra Goraya who was the national director of CAIR but who has since resigned; Khadijah Athman who is the manager of the "civil rights" division of CAIR; and Nadhira al- Khalili, Esq., who is in-house legal counsel for CAIR.

According to the complaint, CAIR's in-house Washington, D.C.-based attorney Khalili was directly involved in taking the legal files out of the CAIR Virginia office and concealing them in the D.C. office.

Also named as defendants are Ibrahim Hooper and Amina Rubin, CAIR's director of communications and coordinator of communications, respectively. According to the complaint, these two were directly responsible for issuing fraudulent press releases about the Days fraud scheme, thus aiding and abetting the CAIR cover-up.



My my, Hooper and Rubin too?

Hopefully we'll have heard the last of this Muslim Brotherhood front in the near future.

More on the Iranian Election Aftermath

As I previously mentioned, there are widespread reports of riots in the aftermath of the Iranian election.

From what my sources tell me, they are mostly confined to certain section of Tehran and a few other urban areas where Moussavi had support among students and a portion of the city's middle class. The working class areas of Tehran and most other urban areas as well as the rural countryside went solidly for Ahmadinejad and are quiet.

As yet, the police have confined their response to the most egregious outbursts and are acting with a certain restraint...allowing a certain blowing off of steam. One indication of what may be coming is that foreigners are being targeted, rounded up and sequestered, which could be a sign of a major crackdown if things get out of hand. If it gets to that point, look for the basiji militia and the Pasdaran( Revolutionary Guard) to come in and suppress things with major brutality.

Moussavi has reportedly been arrested for contesting the election results and being a general nuisance, and ominously, his chief backer Ali Akbar Hashemi Rasfanjani has resigned his position with the government - or more likely, was told to leave.

Was the `election' stolen? I think you have to actually have one before that can happen. The candidates were handpicked and only allowed to run for office by the express permission of the Supreme Council of Guardians and its leader Ayatollah Khamenei after agreeing to follow orders. I personally think that at the very most Moussavi might have been able to force a runoff - if there was actually a real election.

As Stephen Hayes over at the Weekly Standard suggests, this would be a good time for another speech by Mr. Hope n' Change, this time addressing the democratic and dissident elements in Iran and pledging solidarity from the United States in their struggle for freedom.

Needless to say, that probably isn't the sort of stuff Barack Hussein is made of, as he's announced that he's going to 'keep engaging' with the mullocracy.

He obviously doesn't understand that a regime that doesn't hesitate to lie and deceive its own people for its avowed greater purpose is going to have no problem whatsoever reneging on any agreement it makes with the Great Satan.

Here's an example of the 'exciting debate' in Iran our president and secretary of state were talking about, as the police and baseji move in on a pro-Mosavi crowd in Tehran. The sharp cracks you hear are gunshots, for those of you not familiar with what they sound like.

Netanyahu Steps Up To Bat



Israeli PM Benyamin Netanyahu just finished his long awaited speech.

His goal, in a way, was to dance along enough cracks to do his best to avoid deepening the rift with the Obama administration while not alienating his government..and to state some basic truths while appearing reasonable. I think he largely succeeded, and in a most eloquent way.

Yes, he did endorse a second Arab Palestinian state, but with common sense conditions that the Arabs will absolutely never agree to...thus putting the ball back in their court. And in Obama's.

Netanyahu said he supported President Obama's call for regional peace, saying:

"Peace has always been our people’s most ardent desire. Our prophets gave the world the vision of peace, we greet one another with wishes of peace, and our prayers conclude with the word peace.

We are gathered this evening in an institution named for two pioneers of peace, Menachem Begin and Anwar Sadat, and we share in their vision."


But he made it quite clear that the major challenge to that peace is dealing with Iran, which he referred to as "..the convergence of Islamic extremism and nuclear weapons."

While he said he recognized that it was not a substitute for political peace, he called on the Arab leaders to meet with him and pledged that he would travel anywhere to meet with them to discuss regional peace .And he called on them help bring economic peace to the Palestinians as an important component, and for the Sunni oil billionaires to invest and help the Palestinian economy. Knowing what absolute thieves Fatah are and that Netanyahu is absolutely correct that improving the economic lot of the Palestinians is a key element is a final peace with Israel, their fellow Arabs will probably not want to be bothered.

Bibi was also very straightforward in correctly naming the main reason the conflict has gone on for as long as it has - the Arab refusal to accept Israel as a Jewish homeland.He pointed out that Arab attacks on Jews started long before Israel was even a state and that had the Palestinians actually wanted a state of their own alongside Israel, they could have had one a long time ago:

"If the advantages of peace are so evident, we must ask ourselves why peace remains so remote, even as our hand remains outstretched to peace? Why has this conflict continued for more than sixty years?In order to bring an end to the conflict, we must give an honest and forthright answer to the question: What is the root of the conflict? {...}

Even as we look toward the horizon, we must be firmly connected to reality, to the truth. And the simple truth is that the root of the conflict was, and remains, the refusal to recognize the right of the Jewish people to a state of their own, in their historic homeland.

In 1947, when the United Nations proposed the partition plan of a Jewish state and an Arab state, the entire Arab world rejected the resolution. The Jewish community, by contrast, welcomed it by dancing and rejoicing.The Arabs rejected any Jewish state, in any borders.Those who think that the continued enmity toward Israel is a product of our presence in Judea, Samaria and Gaza, is confusing cause and consequence.

The attacks against us began in the 1920s, escalated into a comprehensive attack in 1948 with the declaration of Israel’s independence, continued with the fedayeen attacks in the 1950s, and climaxed in 1967, on the eve of the six-day war, in an attempt to tighten a noose around the neck of the State of Israel. All this occurred during the fifty years before a single Israeli soldier ever set foot in Judea and Samaria.

Fortunately, Egypt and Jordan left this circle of enmity. The signing of peace treaties have brought about an end to their claims against Israel, an end to the conflict. But to our regret, this is not the case with the Palestinians. The closer we get to an agreement with them, the further they retreat and raise demands that are inconsistent with a true desire to end the conflict.

Many good people have told us that withdrawal from territories is the key to peace with the Palestinians. Well, we withdrew. But the fact is that every withdrawal was met with massive waves of terror, by suicide bombers and thousands of missiles.

We tried to withdraw with an agreement and without an agreement. We tried a partial withdrawal and a full withdrawal. In 2000 and again last year, Israel proposed an almost total withdrawal in exchange for an end to the conflict, and twice our offers were rejected.

We evacuated every last inch of the Gaza strip, we uprooted tens of settlements and evicted thousands of Israelis from their homes, and in response, we received a hail of missiles on our cities, towns and children.

The claim that territorial withdrawals will bring peace with the Palestinians, or at least advance peace, has up till now not stood the test of reality.

In addition to this, Hamas in the south, like Hezbollah in the north, repeatedly proclaims their commitment to “liberate” the Israeli cities of Ashkelon, Beersheba, Acre and Haifa.

Territorial withdrawals have not lessened the hatred, and to our regret, Palestinian moderates are not yet ready to say the simple words: Israel is the nation-state of the Jewish people, and it will stay that way."


And then Netanyahu laid out his conditions for accepting a Palestinian State...complete demilitarization, an acceptance of Israel as the Jewish homeland, recognition that Jerusalem is going to remain Israel's undivided capitol and that the Palestinians are going to have to solve their refugee problem within their own borders just as Israel did with its reugees from the Arab world, without being expecting to swamp Israel with a fifth column of 'refugees':

"In my vision of peace, in this small land of ours, two peoples live freely, side-by-side, in amity and mutual respect. Each will have its own flag, its own national anthem, its own government. Neither will threaten the security or survival of the other.{...}

These are the principles that guide our policy.

This policy must take into account the international situation that has recently developed. We must recognize this reality and at the same time stand firmly on those principles essential for Israel.

I have already stressed the first principle – recognition. Palestinians must clearly and unambiguously recognize Israel as the state of the Jewish people. The second principle is: demilitarization. The territory under Palestinian control must be demilitarized with ironclad security provisions for Israel.

Without these two conditions, there is a real danger that an armed Palestinian state would emerge that would become another terrorist base against the Jewish state, such as the one in Gaza.

We don’t want Kassam rockets on Petach Tikva, Grad rockets on Tel Aviv, or missiles on Ben-Gurion airport. We want peace.

In order to achieve peace, we must ensure that Palestinians will not be able to import missiles into their territory, to field an army, to close their airspace to us, or to make pacts with the likes of Hezbollah and Iran. On this point as well, there is wide consensus within Israel.

It is impossible to expect us to agree in advance to the principle of a Palestinian state without assurances that this state will be demilitarized.

On a matter so critical to the existence of Israel, we must first have our security needs addressed.

Therefore, today we ask our friends in the international community, led by the United States, for what is critical to the security of Israel: Clear commitments that in a future peace agreement, the territory controlled by the Palestinians will be demilitarized: namely, without an army, without control of its airspace, and with effective security measures to prevent weapons smuggling into the territory – real monitoring, and not what occurs in Gaza today. And obviously, the Palestinians will not be able to forge military pacts.


This has precedents by the way, in places like Andorra and San Marino in Europe.

He also said that Jerusalem will remain Israel's undivided capitol, " with continued religious freedom for all faiths", that he's not going to prohibit Jews in the Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria recognized as part of Israel by the Bush Administration from building homes - aka natural growth - and that the so-called Palestinian 'right-of-return' to Israel is not going to happen. He cleverly mentioned the forgotten refugees of the 1948 conflict, the almost 1 million Jews who were ethnically cleansed from the Arab world and were resettled in Israel:

"For this recognition to have practical application, the 'Palestinian refugee problem' must be solved outside Israel's borders. Resettling them in Israel contradicts the idea of a Jewish state. The problem can be solved and we have already proven it by resettling refugees from Arab countries who came with nothing. All Israelis agree on this. I believe that with goodwill it is possible to solve this humanitarian problem once and for all."


The end result? The Arabs are likely not to budge one iota from the Saudi peace ultimatum, and especially not the Palestinians, which shows exactly how serious they are about co-existing with Israel. Actually the last thing Fatah and Hamas want is an actual end to the conflict, and they will never recognize Israel as a Jewish state.

And the Arab failure to compromise in the slightest degree is proof, if anyone needs it that the problem is not the lack of a Palestinian state, but a refusal to accept Jews living in the Arab world in conditions of peace and equality.

Nevertheless, expect continued pressure on Israel to give in to each and every one of the Arab's demands, even if it ultimately means national suicide.

The other thing is that while Netanyahu's call to the international community and the United States for guarantees is to be expected, the Israelis are fools if they rely on 'international guarantees' for their security. That particularly applies to the Obama Administration, who've already proven they can't be trusted to keep their word where Israel is concerned.

All in all, a pretty good effort by Netanyahu. We'll see what develops.

Judge Rules Terrorist Can Sue Over Torture Memos

This could turn out to be messy.

U.S. District Judge Jeffrey White has decided to allow a civil suit filed by Jose Padilla to proceed against John Yoo, a former Bush Administration attorney . This is the first time a government lawyer has ever been held potentially liable for the treatment of detainees held as enemy combatants.

Padilla, you might remember,is an American citizen and a convert to Islam who was charged with planning a "dirty bomb" attack on U.S. soil. He was held in solitary confinement as a material witness for more than three years in the Navy brig in Charleston S.C.

Those charges were eventually dropped because the government refused to reveal classified information, including the identity of informants that led to his arrest. But in 2007 he was convicted and sentenced to 17 years imprisonment for criminal conspiracy because of his aid in funneling money to Islamist terrorist groups.

Padilla's civil suit alleges that he was 'tortured' during his imprisonment and that Yoo provided legal cover allowing it.

In terms of the actual decision, I don't see that White can be faulted. Once President Obama released the so-called torture memos and essentially fingered everyone involved, there's no reason a suit of this nature could be disallowed. Padilla obviously has standing, he's a US citizen ( unlike most of the other jihadis detained at Gitmo and elsewhere)with certain Constitutional rights. If he can prove that he was 'tortured' as he alleges, he has a right to his day in court.

As a matter of fact, this might be exactly what the Obama Administration had in mind.Rather than the US Justice department taking a political hit by going after Bush Administration officials, they simply released the memos - or at least selective parts of them- to let the jihadi's lawyers do the work for them. Once the cockroaches at places like the ACLU and the National Lawyer's Guild were able to swarm over the memos, it was only a matter of time, and it's not going to stop with peripheral figures like Yoo.

As a matter of fact,Padilla already has a separate suit awaiting a ruling in federal court in South Carolina against a whole slew of Bush Administration officials, including Donald Rumsfeld and John Ashcroft.

Which is exactly what Dick Cheney warned about when he criticized the Obama Administration for releasing the memos in the first place.

Just in case you think this is a good thing, imagine the effect this is going to have on the personnel like CIA agents who actually interrogate terrorists and attempt to get intelligence from them, as well as lawyers who provide legal guidelines fo rthose interrogations. They now know that the White House is more concerned about legal and Constitutional rights for non-citizen jihadis and political posturing than it is about making a serious attempt to find out what these people might know, and none of them is going to risk being prosecuted or bankrupted in civil court by doing more than going through the motions.

Don't be surprised if this comes back to haunt us on th eday after another 9/11.

Ahmadinejad Declared Winner In Iran `Election'



That is, according to IRNA.

The state election commission said early Saturday that Ahmadinejad, a hardline conservative, was ahead with 66 percent of the votes in Friday's election after 21 million ballots were counted.

Ahmadinejad's main challenger, moderate former prime minister Mirhossein Mousavi, had 31 percent, according to the commission, which is part of the Interior Ministry. It said 61 percent of all ballot boxes had now been counted.

The official news agency IRNA said: "Dr Ahmadinejad, by winning most votes at the 10th presidential election, has secured his victory."


I particularly love the way al-Reuters refers to Ahmadinejad as "a hardline conservative" and Mousavi as a "moderate".There's maybe a dime's worth of difference between them.

'Moderate' Mousavi's biggest backer was none other than the 'moderate' former President Ali Akbar Hashemi Rasfanjani, who famously said that the 'Israel problem' could be solved by one nuclear bomb.

Neither one of them would have been allowed to run for office without the express permission of the Supreme Council of Guardians and its leader Ayatollah Khamenei and especially not without agreeing to follow orders. And anyone who thinks that Mousavi being 'elected' would have marked any change to some kind of new order in Iran is simply kidding themselves.

What little difference there was involved class. Mousavu represented the older, kleptocratic, more elitist order and had support from the more educated classes in Tehran ( including a number of students) while Ahmadinejad was more of a populist with solid following among the baseji, rural areas and the working classes. The only reason Mousavi was on the ballot in the first place was as a possible gambit by the Mullahs if they felt it might be better to have a new face up front instead of Ahmadinejad to buy a bit more time until Iran's nukes are completed.

The key to their decision to go with Ahmadinejad was Obama's performance in Cairo. After that, they obviously felt no need to make the effort and came down solidly on the side of Ahmadinejad.

Mousavi claimed numerous voting irregularities and at one point tried to declare himself the winner, but this is pure kabuki. There may be a few scuffles and a little shouting from Mousavi's followers to let off some steam, but it's over.

The mullahs have spoken. And that's where the real power lies in Iran.


Obama Steps on Britain's Toes - Again

D'OH!
The continuous amauteur hour at the Obama White House is getting monotonous.Do these people have any clue what they're doing?

Some of the inmates at Club Gitmo are Chinese Uigher Muslim separatists.

Since the Chosen One decreed that Club Gitmo must be closed without making any plans about an alternative, there's been a scramble as to where to put these people.

In th ecase of the Uighers, China was quite willing to take them back, but there were concerns about the kind of reception they'd receive there, so an alternative was sought.

The island nation of Palau was bribed with taxpayer dollars to take some of them while another four were sent to Bermuda, again at the US taxpayer's expense.

Just one minor problem... Bermuda is a dependency of the UK, but no one bothered to ask the British for permission!

And to put it mildly, the Brits are not amused:

The British Government responded with ill-disguised fury tonight to the news that four Chinese Uighurs freed from Guantanamo Bay had been flown for resettlement on the Atlantic tourist paradise of Bermuda.
The four arrived on Bermuda in the early hours, celebrating the end of seven years of detention after learning that they were to be accepted as guest workers.

But it appears that the Government of Bermuda failed to consult with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office on the decision to take in the Uighurs – whose return is demanded by Beijing – and it could now be forced to send them back to Cuba or risk a grave diplomatic crisis.


I understand the British position entirely - not only did we dump some of our garbage in their yard without their permission, they now have a diplomatic row with the Chinese, who really, really want these Uighers back.

Either the Obama Adminsitration was cynically trying to put something over on the Brits or some of their appointees were to stupid to realize that Bermuda is a British dependency before they came up wioth this bright idea. There's no third possibility.

Now, if Bush '43 had pulled this, it would be front page headlines in the New York Times and opening story on the alphabet networks.Because it's Obama, crickets.

Rememeber during the campaign, when the American public was lied to about how Obama was going to restore the relationship with our allies?

With his previous treatment of Britain's prime minister and a whole slew of silly mistakes like this one, Obama has done more to damage those relationships in 6 months than Bush '43 did during his entire two terms.


Margaret Thatcher Injured in Fall

It saddens me tremendously to report that Baroness Thatcher has been hospitalized after injuries she sustained in a fall inside her home.



At 83, the old Lioness may have slowed a bit from the superb beast that scared the pants off of Britain's socialist establishment, but she's apparently still very active.

Among her other doings, last week she met with the Pope in the Vatican and later this month is scheduled to be the guest of honor at a dinner at London's Carlton Club for the 30th anniversary of her election as Britain's Prime Minister in May 1979.

Best wishes for a quick and speedy recovery, Baroness. Your country needs you desperately as an example - and a reminder that Britain still retains the possibility of greatness.




The Obama Way - Mirandizing Enemy Combatants

Back in February, President Barack Hussein Obama had this to say to Steve Croft on "6o minutes" about how enemy combatants captured on the battlefield should be treated:

"The whole premise of Guantanamo promoted by Vice President Cheney was that somehow the American system of justice was not up to the task of dealing with these terrorists. I fundamentally disagree with that. Now, do these folks deserve Miranda rights? Do they deserve to be treated like a shoplifter down the block? Of course not."

Guess again, America.

Congressman Mike Rogers, a former FBI special agent and U.S. Army officer and a senior Republican on the House Intelligence Committee just got back from Afghanistan, and according to him, the Obama Justice Department has ordered FBI agents to give Miranda warnings to enemy combatants and detainees in Afghanistan after capture and prior to questioning.

Let's remind ourselves of what that Miranda warning actually consists of:


"You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to speak to an attorney, and to have an attorney present during any questioning. If you cannot afford a lawyer, one will be provided for you at government expense."


In other words, instead of being encouraged to provide valuable intel on the battle field that could save American lives, enemy combatants and terrorists are being advised to shut up and get lawyered up. Which gives the jihadis yet another technique to resist interrogation.

According to Congressman Rogers, Congress was never briefed on the Obama Administration's new practice of mirandizing enemy combatants. “I was a little surprised to find it taking place when I showed up because we hadn’t been briefed on it, I didn’t know about it. We’re still trying to get to the bottom of it, but it is clearly a part of this new global justice initiative.”

That new Obama policy, the so-called 'Global Justice Initiative', marginalizes the CIA and allows the FBI and the Justice Department to essentially take over global counter-terrorism operations and design their investigations with court cases in mind.

In other words, it's back to the Clinton era, with Islamist jihad terrorism treated as a law enforcement problem. We've already seen how well that worked.

Aside from the dubious fiction that terrorists captured while waging war against the United States are entitled to the same Constitutional rights as American citizens, the problems involved in this are inherent.

If any useful information is actually gleaned and charges are filed in court, the ACLU, Center for Constitutional Rights and National Lawyer's Guild cockroaches that will be representing the jihadis will demand full discovery, which means that any evidence the government has, including confidential sources will have to be disclosed. And that's a spectacularly bad idea., because access by terrorists to criminal trials have led to intelligence leaks in the past.

For instance, in the 1995 trial of Omar Abdel Rahman, AKA the Blind Shiek, evidence turned over to his attorneys by the government ended up being found in documents seized at an al-Qaeda headquarters in the Sudan. To put it bluntly, because of the political beliefs of some of the lawyers who make a living defending these people, they're not exactly safe to have around confidential information. Remember Lynne Stewart?

Bottom line? We're not even going through the motions of treating this like a war anymore, even if it endangers American lives in the field or at home. And any information we manage to glean out of captured terrorists will simply be accidental.That will cost us, rest assured.

One small silver lining..the whole rationale for taking any of these people prisoner was to try to glean intel out of them to help win a war. Since that incentive no longer exists, there's no real reason for our warriors to bother anymore - especially when there's a chance some jihadi and his lawyer might sue them for the equivalent of police brutality or not reading them their rights properly.

American Sharia, Courtesy of David Letterman



I wasn't originally planning on writing about this, but since the perpetrator is apparently getting a pass from the dinosaur media, perhaps I need to lift up the rock and expose the filth to the light a bit.Plus, after thinking about it, it's a bigger issue than I first thought.

Governor Sarah Palin was in New York City to do a fundraiser for charity with her husband Todd and her 14-year-old daughter Willow and the fact that the Palins were in 'his' town apparently set off David Letterman to the point where he targeted the governor and her family in an especially despicable way.

He started out by making a remark while counting down "The Top Ten Highlights Of Sarah Palin's Trip To New York" about how Governor Palin was going to drop by Bloomingdale's to 'update her slutty stewardess look'

He then moved on to Willow Palin, essentially branding her a prostitute by making a joke about her mother 'having to keep her away from Elliot Spitzer'.And finally, in his monologue, Letterman went after 14-year-old Willow Palin again.

Willow and her parents were the guest of Rudy Giuliani for a game at Yankee Stadium, about as innocent an activity as you can imagine. Letterman decided it would be big yuks to make a joke on national TV about fourteen-year-old Willow getting raped, as shown above.This was so over the top that the Leftist media didn't even want to repeat it. The New York Times mysteriously censored Letterman's Willow joke from their transcript of his monologue.

This assault on Governor Palin and her daughter's femaleness is nothing less than a form of Leftist sharia. This kind of attack an attack on women because of their failure to conform and wear the ideological burka leftists like Letterman demand they wear has become standard operating procedure for the Left and it's time they stopped getting away with it.

Listen to Letterman's audience laugh along with him, and reflect on how the Leftist media and feminist groups like NOW are ignoring this. If Letterman had made these remarks about Michelle Obama and one of her daughters, would the reaction have been the same? You know it wouldn't.

Remember when a certain talk show host made an untoward remark about Chelsea Clinton a few years back? That host was suspended for two weeks without pay and was nearly fired,and what he said was a lot milder than what Letterman said.

Another aspect of this was the fact that this `humor' was directed at a teenage girl.
Can you imagine how a sensitive teenager must have felt hearing herself discussed this way on national TV? Anybody who's ever lived with one knows what that must have been like behind closed doors. Can you imagine being her mother and having to explain to her that she was targeted for this kind of verbal public rape not because of anything she'd done, but simply because a pathetic man has a personal hatred for her mother and decided to vent it by attacking her family?

Willow Palin's parents responded to Letterman by issuing a short terse statement:

"Concerning Letterman's comments about my young daughter (and I doubt he'd ever dare make such comments about anyone else's daughter): 'Laughter incited by sexually-perverted comments made by a 62-year-old male celebrity aimed at a 14-year-old girl is not only disgusting, but it reminds us some Hollywood/NY entertainers have a long way to go in understanding what the rest of America understands - that acceptance of inappropriate sexual comments about an underage girl, who could be anyone's daughter, contributes to the atrociously high rate of sexual exploitation of minors by older men who use and abuse others. ”

Todd Palin added: “Any 'jokes' about raping my 14-year-old are despicable. Alaskans know it and I believe the rest of the world knows it, too.”


I have a feeling that Mr. Palin would very much like to spend a few private moments alone with this aging pervert and teach him in a very personal way to stay the hell away from his family. It's what any husband and father would do, and I certainly hope he gets the chance, in a small windowless room with no witnesses.

Some people have criticized the Palins for reacting in this fashion, but I think they're entirely within their rights. It's one thing to disagree with someone's political views and engage them in honest debate, but that's not what we have here. Governor Palin is just the latest woman victimized like this, and it's high time the Left stopped getting a pass for this kind of ugliness.

A Few Notes On Iran's 'Election'



I admit to being surprised at the kind of coverage the Iranian elections, scheduled for Friday, June 12th are receiving. For the most part, the dinosaur press is treating this as if it were an actual western-style elections where the results seriously matter.

There are two contestants for the presidency, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and the challenger, former Prime Minister Mir Hossein Mousavi. Neither one of them would be allowed to run for office without the express permission of the Supreme Council of Guardians and its leader Ayatollah Khamenei. That's where the real power in Iran is situated,and no one would be allowed to run for president unless he clearly understood that and agreed to it.

Mousavi may be being painted as a 'moderate' by some of the western press, but nothing could be further from the truth, as the above clip ought to make clear...he attacks Ahmadinejad for releasing the British sailors Iran took hostage rather than executing them.It might also be noted that one of Mousavi's chief backers is none other than the 'moderate' former President Ali Akbar Hashemi Rasfanjani, who famously said that the 'Israel problem' could be solved by one nuclear bomb.

Mousavi is simply a member of the old order that the Mullahs have trotted out in case they decide that it might be better to have a new face up front instead of Ahmadinejad to buy a bit more time until Iran's nukes are completed.

While Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is perceive by many in the west as Iran's 'Hitler' who's
ouster would be a sign of a less confrontational Iran, the truth of the matter is that nothing Ahmadinejad has said or done was performed without express orders form Khamenei and the Supreme Council. If they have decided to make Ahmadinejad a scapegoat and Mousavi takes over the presidency, the same people are still going to be in charge. The only difference will be a different dummy on the ventriloquist's lap.

Having looked at this pretty closely on my own, I think the answer is 'not necessarily'. Parties like the BNP, Swedish Democrats and Vlaams Belang are primarily interested in re-affirming their national culture, dealing with the socialist tyranny of the EU and the attendant problems inherent in widespread Muslim immigration.


As minority parties, they tend to invite inside the tent a great many elements, a number of which could fairly be called racist and anti-Semitic, but those issues are simply not 'job one' for people like the BNP. The items I mentioned above are the ones that fall into that category.


Complicating the mix, of course, is the fact that a number of secular Jews on the Left have chosen to identify with the truly anti-Semitic elements of the Left and ignore the Left's alliance with the Islamists. One could easily suppose that such Jews would spark a certain amount of hostility from Europe's nativist parties. In this kind of life or death struggle, the tolerance for people seen as siding with one's enemies can wear pretty thin.



Soccer Dad - The cairo context - Soccer Dad has his own take on Obama's Cairo performance, and he focuses, as his title suggests, on context rather then the actual content of the speech. I would say that considering how atrocious the content was, the contextual elements he mentioned made it even worse.



Mere Rhetoric - The WH’s Eight-Step Plan For Detonating The US-Israel Relationship - Omri sees an actual plan in action as he puts it "..percolating for years, getting developed informally by anti-Israel partisans around water coolers, in hallways, and at dinner tables. " He's certainly right in noting that this same crowd is now in power in Washington and the Obama Administration's stance of Israel and the Muslim world corresponds almost exactly to their views.



The Colossus of Rhodey - A tale of badly misplaced priorities - Hube narrates the sordid tale of a student who was suspended prior to graduation for threatening to punch a teacher and then had the nerve to protest receiving his diploma via mail! This says a great deal about the misplaced priorities he's talking about, and is a good indication of why public education is in the state it is today.
