A Must Read - The Untold Eyewitness Story Of The Paris Bataclan Killings

If you read nothing else today, take the time to read this gripping interview on the November 2015 Bataclan jihad attack in Paris with Eagles of Death Metal vocalist Jesse Hughes. The interview was conducted by Gavin McInnes over at Taki's Magazine. Hughes's band was onstage when the jihad killings occurred. This is his eye witness account of what happened. Hughes feels that the media totally misrepresented the story, with details pulled out of context from his previous interviews and manipulated to support editorializing and commentary that was completely opposed to his views.

Hughes tells exactly what happened, how it was handled and the implications for the future in the War on Jihad.

McInnes: It’s hard to talk about the attack without sounding like you’re blaming the victims, but it’s impossible to deny fear of Islamophobia and fear of guns led to a lot of deaths that night.

Jesse Hughes:: I saw fear fall like a blanket on the whole crowd and they fell like wheat in the wind—the way you would before a god. I was totally alert from the very beginning. The first thing I needed to do was find my girl. Fear took a backseat and “where’s my girl?” took over. I could smell gunpowder in the backstage area and I knew someone fired a round back there. I saw a guy with an FAL and when he turned to face me his eyes looked like marbles. He was stoned out of his mind, and we now know they were on Xanax and cocaine. I recognized him. I’d seen him earlier in the day and noticed him staring at us.

McInnes: They were in the venue early. That implies some staff were in on it.

Jesse Hughes:I got in a lot of trouble for saying that. I know for sure that they were in there early. I remember them staring at my buddy. I just chalked it up to Arab envy. You know what I mean? When a Muslim sees a cocky American dude with tattoos, he stares at him. I realized later it was Abdeslam and he was staring at my buddy because they thought he was a threat. There’s no denying the terrorists were already inside, and they had to get in somehow. During the shooting I went outside and the backstage door was propped open. How did that happen?

McInnes: Do you think political correctness is killing our natural instincts and making us vulnerable?

Jesse Hughes:Definitely. There were two girls who were involved. They were at the venue and vanished before the shooting, and these women were in traditional Muslim garb. They knew people wouldn’t check them because of the way they were dressed. They got caught a few days later.

McInnes:The fear of offending Muslims is a terrorist’s greatest weapon.

Jesse Hughes:Look at the guys who bombed Brussels. They were wearing black gloves on one hand. Their luggage was too heavy to lift, but they didn’t want anyone helping them with it. Nobody brought any of this up until after the bombs went off.

McInnes:We’d rather die than be called a bigot.

Jesse Hughes: How is a faith being associated with racism? Just take out the word “Islam” and replace it with “communism.” It’s an ideology. The same way the Rosenbergs could sell nuclear secrets from within America is the same way Muslim terrorists can attack us from within. It’s okay to be discerning when it comes to Muslims in this day and age.

McInnes: Where is this push coming from? Is it all our fault?

Jesse Hughes:Of course not. When you’re at a soccer game in Europe and you see the words “United Arab Emirates,” you know there is a lot of Arab money floating around and influencing the dialogue. The conversation is constantly being steered away from scrutiny. They think we’re fools.

Arab money is a pollutant. So many movies are made with Arab money. George Clooney doesn’t kiss the ass of the Arabs for no reason. American movies are the best way to influence the hearts and minds of the world.

Gen. Michael Flynn Resigns As Trump's National Security Advisor

General Michael Flynn has resigned as President Trump's National Security Advisor, after it was learned that the Justice Department informed the White House that it believed he might be subject to blackmail.

The axe fell when Flynn admitted that he had misled Vice President Mike Pence and other senior officials about his communications with Sergei Kislyak, who is Russia's ambassador to the United States. In his resignation letter,Flynn said:

"Unfortunately, because of the fast pace of events, I inadvertently briefed the Vice President Elect and others with incomplete information regarding my phone calls with the Russian Ambassador. I have sincerely apologized to the President and the Vice President, and they have accepted my apology."

Along with his resignation of course.

What happened is that the FBI had intel that Flynn had discussed sanctions on Russia with Kislyak, but Flynn told administration officials that he hadn't. Pence repeated the misinformation on national television.

While Flynn didn't do anything illegal, this was a bad mistake on his part. But like the soldier he was, he owned up, took the blame and paid the price, a sad end to an honorable career.

To their shame, the Democrats are absolutely ecstatic over this.

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) is the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee and a Leftist progressive. He said Flynn's resignation was "all but ordained the day he misled the country about his secret talks with the Russian Ambassador."

"In fact, Flynn was always a poor choice for National Security Advisor, a role in which you need to be a consensus builder, and possess sobriety and steady judgment," Schiff said in a statement. "It is certainly no role for someone who plays fast and loose with the truth."

Schiff, of course,has no military, hands on intel or national security experience whatsoever. So of course, he knows all about what's needed in an NSA advisor.

And that's interesting, considering that Rep. Schiff and his fellow Dems were all in for Hillary Clinton, whom we know deliberately endangered national security by putting classified material on an unprotected server to hide her crooked deals and operated her office as Secretary of State  for her own profit like a mega high priced escort service, pay for play.

Flynn made a bad error in judgement and he had to go. And there are stories floating around that he may have been responsible,inadvertently perhaps, for several media leaks. But by comparison with Mrs. Clinton's disgraceful, self serving misdeeds and outright felonies...no contest.

Retired Army Gen. Keith Kellogg is a longtime trusted policy adviser for Trump. He  has been appointed acting national security adviser, according to a White House statement. Kellogg was the former commander of the 82nd Airborne Division, and he has years of combat, national security and command experience.

He may end up getting the gig permanently.

Another possibility being talked about is retired Navy Vice Adm. Robert Harward, the former deputy commander of U.S. Joint Forces Command. Former CIA head General David Petraeus was apparently also mentioned, but I doubt he gets it because of his own national security problems.

Either Kellogg or Harward would be a good choice, and Kellog will do a great job holding things together until a decision is made.

Don Surber: One thing I have not done since he entered the race in 2015 is give Donald Trump any advice on what to do. I reserve my bad advice for others politicians. His track record is too good. He has me scratch my head from time to time, but eventually I see his point.

He can either press ahead with the case and make Democrats remain on the side of terrorists, or he can rewrite the executive order (which I gave read and see nothing to rewrite) and close off those seven nations. I thin the former course is the correct course to take because this is a fight worth winning. The cost is minimal. Bad headlines? He thrives off them. I really don't see a downside.

The 9th circuit over the weekend decided to rehear the case en banc -- essentially appeal the case itself. The lawyer blogs I read say this is unusual and means the judges are embarrassed and do not want to be overturned by the Supreme Court.

Meanwhile, Republicans have long wanted to break up the 9th. There you go.]

JoshuaPundit: Before I get to main course, an aperitif of truth to wash away the foul taste of some common disinformation. First, the implementation of the travel order was not 'sloppy' or rushed. Before signing and implementing the EO, the president sent it to the White House Office of Legal Counsel. That office exists for one purpose, to carefully vet any proposed action and advise the president as to its legality and/or any possible legal pitfalls. The president's executive order was carefully vetted and passed with flying colors before the president signed and released it.

Second, a number of the usual suspects have said with a straight face that no terrorist attacks on Americans  have ever  originated from  natives of the 7 countries in question. That is a deliberate, bald faced  lie. And there's a lot more where that came from.  Apparently these creeps think the American people are as stupid as they think we are.

Trump's only mistake was in thinking that his legal authority was so obvious in this matter and the national security considerations so obvious that it would be implemented forthwith, even if a flood of demonstrations ensued. He didn't count on the judge shopping and subsequent legal challenge that were so obviously planned in advance.

It's no accident this went down in Washington State, and that has little to do with any moral implications, all the signs and chants aside.Always follow the money. The People's Republic of Seattle and environs has a great many corporations that depend on a continued supply of comparatively low wage H1B visa holders for companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Expedia, and Starbucks. Heaven forbid they should employ Americans and pay a decent wage! So much for these companies' egalitarian,'liberal' principles, hmmm? According to the language of the lawsuit that was filed, "Many of those immigrant workers are from Muslim-majority countries."

Other institutions mentioned in the lawsuit are universities in the area who claimed that the order"caused immediate harm to Washington's public universities, which are state agencies."

When you do some checking, you find that foreign students are a major cash cow for Washington's universities, because they pay full tuition. Only Washington DC, Massachusetts, New York and Delaware have a higher percentage of foreign students. Hey, who cares if Mahmoud from Iran is actually a spy, or wants to plant a bomb in an airport terminal at Sea-Tac? Gotta make a buck, especially if we can look virtuous and thwart Trump-Hitler while we're doing it. Another source of income comes from the hundreds of thousands of dollars paid to various organizations via the Refugee Resettlement program for resettling 'refugees' in unsuspecting communities across the heartland. There have already been a number of crimes and incidents stemming from this practice in parts of the country where this sort of thing used to be virtually unknown.

So a lot of the uproar is simply about money.

Will the Travel Ban and Immigration EO be implemented? Well, eventually, but it will probably take the Supreme Court to do it, the fact that there's absolutely no legal basis not to. The 9th circuit has been reversed more times than any other district court, so what's one more?

A lesson I hope The Donald takes from this is that these swine will do anything they can to slow walk and impede whatever he does, no matter what it is or how beneficial and necessary for the country it is.Those are unimportant details for the Left.

I’ve been amused to watch the media, assorted pundits, and virtually all leftists screaming in hysterical agony over everything President Trump does, or is said--falsely--to have done, or is said--falsely--to be planning to do. I am particularly amused, however, at the talking heads that solemnly intone Mr. Trump’s immigration order, which has been abused by the 9th Circuit, commonly known as the 9th Circus for its propensity to make up the law as it goes along, is “sucking all the air out of the room.” Old Washington hands may be breathless over this single issue, but Mr. Trump--and the American people--are not.

As I’ve recently written, https://statelymcdanielmanor.wordpress.com/2017/02/09/split-the-ninth/ and apparently can’t write often enough, Mr. Trump is actually used to work. He works hard, each and every day, just like working Americans that pay taxes and keep our economy afloat. He works long hours, just like the aforementioned Americans, and he can work on more than one thing at a time. Look in the dictionary under “multitasker,” and one will find a photo of Mr. Trump, and millions upon millions of other competent, non-politician and pundit Americans.

President Trump and those that work for him are more than capable of dealing with the 9th Circus, and of simultaneously handling innumerable other tasks. This is why the federal government employees some 3 million people, so they can handle a great many tasks at once. I know they’re out of practice, and this will take some adjustment after eight years of a President who only occasionally did a bit of work, and that, grudgingly, but it’s the new normal. The new Sheriff has already arrived, shot most of the bad guys, and kissed the pretty saloon owner.

Now, after that little bit of a multitasking example, let’s continue to this week’s topic.

I have, upon occasion, found myself in agreement with Alan Dershowitz. We have agreed on the Trayvon Martin case, the Freddie Gray case, and a variety of other legal issues, and we agree on what Mr. Trump should do with this immigration executive order: simply write a new, leaner and meaner executive order addressing every issue raised by the lunatics of the 9th Circuit. Clean it up, make it absolutely unassailable by any sane jurist. Simultaneously, pursue the other executive order in the courts, or perhaps, just long enough to make it moot.

Various leftist attorney’s general will file suit against the new order, but the ultimate goal will be the Supreme Court, and the proper record must be built for that Court. It is even possible the four progressives might vote to uphold the Constitution in this case--the Constitution and federal law are that clear--though one should never count on that sort of rationality.

We must now expect unrelenting lawfare. Virtually everything Mr. Trump does will be met with lawsuits by progressives. In this case, the Constitution is crystal clear, as is federal law: the President of the United States has exclusive power--government has powers, people have rights--to regulate immigration. He can do what he did: stop immigration from any country dead in its tracks. Foreign nationals have no rights under the Constitution, and under federal law, states have no standing to sue in this matter. Federal courts have no legitimate role.

So the 9th Circuit did what it always does: it ignored the Constitution and the law and made it up.

This is a crisis foreseen by those Americans that voted for Donald Trump. The inevitability that federal courts, packed with progressives rather than honest men and women willing to honor their oaths to preserve and defend the Constitution and uphold the law, would ignore their oaths, and blatantly establish rule by federal judge, daring us to do something about it. With a progressive majority on the Supreme Court, eventually, the only means of restoring the Constitution would be violence, and no sane person wants it to come to that.

It’s time for Congress, working with Mr. Trump, to write new laws, carefully and narrowly written laws, that remove--leaving no wiggle room--the ability of the states, private parties, and others to claim standing to sue the President in matters of national security and immigration. To do otherwise is to join Democrats in national suicide.

It’s also time for Attorney General Sessions to drain the swamp that is the Department of Justice. Actually demanding its employees work on the side of America and the rule of law for a change would be novel indeed. Putting in the A-Team, or bringing in outside pros not twisted by progressive ideology, to argue the government’s cases would help too.

What’s that you say? Even if the weasels in Congress do that, the courts will just ignore the law, just as they ignore any law they don’t like now? Perhaps, but we have to start somewhere, and in the meantime, Mr. Trump will be continuing to work, each and every day, on a multitude of important issues. That’s why Democrats are slow-walking his cabinet secretaries. When they’re in office, Mr. Trump will pick up a pace that’s already leaving progressives breathless.

It can’t come soon enough, and it’s about time.

The Glittering Eye :One way or another President Trump's executive order suspending travel from seven countries in the Middle East and North Africa will be upheld. Either the Ninth Circuit en banc will uphold it (30% confidence) or the Supreme Court will uphold it (75% confidence).

Laura Rambeau Lee, Right Reason : Perhaps the 9th circuit’s decision will be a lesson learned and cause the Trump Administration not to be so quick to issue executive orders until every detail, legality, and consequence of such order is explored. It looked and was sloppy in its crafting and execution. President Trump should understand how everything he does is going to be scrutinized by the political left and the progressive media. He cannot make amateurish mistakes. President Trump should let this go and issue a new executive order. He also needs to push the Senate for the speedy confirmation of Judge Neil Gorsuch for Supreme Court justice. We need a conservative constitutionalist to replace Justice Scalia in order to advance our conservative agenda.

Sessions Confirmed; Nasty Fauxahontas Fails In Bogus Race Card Attempt

Senator Jeff Sessions was confirmed as Attorney General, but not before Fauxahontas, prog-fascist heroine and the senior senator from Massachusetts made a particularly nasty attempt at impugning the reputation of a far more honest and accomplished human being than she'll ever be capable of becoming.

What she attempted to do was to play the race card to brand Senator Sessions as a racist, and then to throw a fit when she was reminded that it was against senate rules:




How charming to quote Senator Ted Kennedy as a moral arbitrator, the man who left a woman die slowly in a car he crashed and then colluded with the authorities, using his name, position and influence to hide his part in it? The man who invented 'Borking,' the sport of demonizing and slandering public officials nominated for public office and up for Senate confirmation? The man who could justifiably have been prosecuted for treason because of his private approach to the Soviet Union offering to help them destroy the Reagan presidency?

And how amusing to hear the senator who was employed by Harvard based on lies about her native American heritage and who actually voted to confirm corrupt racist hacks like Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch talk about racism!

I'm hardly surprised to find that the late Senator Kennedy is Elizabeth Warren's idea of a hero, role model and moral arbiter.

And Coretta Scott King? She had a right to her opinion, although there's zero evidence that the judge who broke the KKK in his home state of Alabama is a racist. The late Mrs. King's heavy involvement with the Democrat Party when she wrote that letter in 1986 might just have had something to do with her sentiments. In any event, this cynical use of that letter without a scrap of proof is a classic example of the sort of McCarthyism happily use whenever they can while squealing like pigs in a slaughterhouse whenever they feel they can get away with accusing others of it.

Of course, someone with more honesty might have chosen to read this letter to the Senate, from someone who actually was directly involved in some of Judge Session's 'racism' Mrs. King mentioned in her letter, someone who had personal reasons to bear a grudge.

But this wasn't about giving Jeff Sessions an honest appraisal.

This was by no means spontaneous. The day after Fauxahontas attacked Jeff Session, her new book came out. And the media had obviously been prepped for the new far Left hotness The Washington Democrat Digest praised this new "battle cry" and the anti-Trump Fake News  political action group CNN hailed the "rallying cry" . And of course,  th efundraising letters went out, with a new slogan and hashtag #She presisted. Take a look at the merchandise they had ready for consumption by the True Believers:

 

 


Notice to single young men. Avoid any interaction whatsoever with a female wearing something like this. Consider yourself warned!!!

The unintentionally funny part of this is the 'she persisted' tagline. Fauxahontas didn't persist or accomplish a damned thing. She violated senate rules egregiously to help sell her book and herself as a possible 2020 candidate,  was told by the president of the senate to sit down and keep quiet. She did as she was told. She didn't persist in keeping Jeff Sessions out of the Justice department either.

There is something she did accomplish.

Elizabeth Warren, just like the rest of the senate has worked with Senator Jeff Sessions for years. They knew very well the accusations made were libelous, partisan falsehoods.  they did it anyway, just because. While the Senate was designed by our founders to be the deliberative, more reasoned, more collegial  part of congress. The Democrats, led by Harry Reid have almost destroyed that completely. The crazed opposition to President Trump's appointees on the most far fetched grounds imaginable is unprecedented.

Only one Democrat,Joe Manchin from West Virginia defied the baying jackals and voted to confirm his colleague. Do the Democrats imagine that after this, the Senate Republicans are going to be willing to work with them and pretend what Fauxahontas just did never happened? Do they really think th eAmerican people don't see what they're doing?

You reap what you sow. Chuck Schumer, Elizabeth Warren and their colleagues are in for a hard lesson.

Merkel's Trying To Buy Her Way Out of Germany's Refugee Crisis

 

Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel is facing new elections and is not doing at all well in the polls. Quite simply, the Muslim refugees she imported en masse to Germany have turned into a nightmare, with violent crime including sexual assaults at unheard of levels. And most of these refugees, rather than working are enjoying the generous German social welfare benefits, which is exactly why most of them came to Germany in the first place.

Merkel's new scheme to try and get back into her fellow German's good graces before elections involves paying migrants millions of Euros to leave.

Merkel is setting aside $95 million (€90m or £76m) in taxpayers’ money to create a fund to try to pay these refugees to withdraw their asylum applications and leave Germany voluntarily.

Germany rejected 170,000 asylum claims in 2016 , according to the Daily Mail,  but only 26,000 were repatriated to their home countruies while 55,000 more decided to leave voluntarily and try their luck elsewhere. But that leaves 81,000 rejected applicants who are probably still in Germany!

Angela Merkel' solution - making German citizens who didn't want these people in their country in the first place to pay millions to get rid of them - is going to be an epic fail. Here's why.

Even Frans Timmermans, the European Commission’s First Vice-President has admitted that at least 60% of the Muslim migrants coming to the EU aren't fleeing war zones at all, but are simply economic migrants attracted by the generous social welfare benefits of countries like Germany. When offered a one time modest payout as opposed to years of welfare, free medical and free housing, why would they leave?

 

And even if they took the money and left, what would stop them from returning with a new name and a new story? Nothing. In fact, that's already happened with several migrants involved in terrorist attacks in the EU.

It's also worth remembering that the EU has tried this kind of bribe before. Remember how Turkey's Tayyip Erdoğan conned what, €3 billion out of the Eu to store these migrants in Turkey? Since he already has the cash, there's nothing stopping him from simply opening his borders and letting the migrants flood into the EU, which Erdoğan threatens to do every so often anyway.

Merkel really has only a couple of options. She could cut off all social welfare to the migrants which would either involve a lot of them self deporting or massive unrest. Or she could start deporting migrants in large numbers and find a country or countries not on Europe's borders willing to accept them for a suitable bribe. That's probably the least costly option, but it will cost a lot more than €90m to pull off if it can be done.

And even if successful, it's highly unlikely to resonate well with the German electorate who are going to have to pay for it all, unless Merkel can con the EU into splitting the tab.

Why Trump's Policies And Israel's New Law Could Lead To Real Peace

 

Amid headlines from the usual suspects about President Trump 'criticizing Israeli settlements' (including the leftist press in Israel) the truth is that Trump's policies and Israel's new law could lead to real peace.

What President Trump actually said was that the creation of new settlements was not helpful when it came to “the process of reaching peace."

With a meeting coming up between the president and Israeli PM Netanyahu, someone he's been on friendly terms with for years, it's obvious that the Donald is laying the groundwork for a serious attempt at a deal. In an interview with Israel Hayom, President Trump had some revealing things to say.

After praising PM Netanyahu, voicing his expectation of an excellent future relationship with Israel and harshly criticizing the Iran deal, the conversation turned to Jerusalem and Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria.

Actually President Trump has said nothing negative about building and expanding existing Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria. Nor will he. In fact when he was asked whether he was going to condemn Israeli announcements of building in existing Jewish communities like the previous administration, he responded "No, I don't want to condemn Israel. Israel has had a long history of condemnation and difficulty. And I don't want to be condemning Israel. I understand Israel very well, and I respect Israel a lot, and they have been through a lot. I would like to see peace and beyond that. And I think that peace for Israel would be a good thing for the Israeli people, not just a good thing, a great thing." ...

" They [ new settlements] don't help the process. I can say that. There is so much land left. And every time you take land for settlements, there is less land left. But we are looking at that, and we are looking at some other options we'll see. "

That hardly qualifies as 'criticizing settlements.' It's simply a self-evident statement and an attempt at prepping the ground with an appearance of neutrality pending any coming negotiations. And President Trump also had this to say about relocating the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem:

Q: How soon will you decide on the issue of relocating the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem?

"Well, I want Israel to be reasonable with respect to peace. I want to see peace happen. It should happen. After all these years. ... Maybe there is even a chance for a bigger peace than just Israel and the Palestinians. I would like to see a level of reasonableness of both parties, and I think we have a good chance of doing that."

Q: And the embassy?

"I am thinking about the embassy, I am studying the embassy [issue], and we will see what happens. The embassy is not an easy decision. It has obviously been out there for many, many years, and nobody has wanted to make that decision. I'm thinking about it very seriously, and we will see what happens."

Q: You always speak about making good deals. Don't the Palestinians have to make concessions as well?

"Yeah. They do. Absolutely. It has to be good for everybody. No deal is good if it is not good for everybody, and we are in that process, and we will see what happens. People have been in that process for many decades, and it has been going a long for a long time. So many people think it cannot be made. I have very smart people that ... say a deal can't be made. I disagree with them. I think a deal should be made, and it can be made," he concluded.

What President Trump is doing here is straight out of 'The Art Of The Deal.' He is deliberately positioning himself so that the U.S. can appear as a reasonable arbiter. With the Israelis, whom he knows are the far more reasonable party, he's holding out certain carrots; an embassy in Jerusalem, recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's undivided capitol as well as  recognition  of Jewish communities and their right to natural growth in Judea and Samaria. There's also the promise of demanding real life meaningful concessions from the Arabs whom call themselves 'Palestinians' as part of any deal  as opposed to just taking Abbas's word for it. He's even holding out the promise of formal relations between Israel and the other Arab states. While those relationships exist in reality, especially with Saudis Arabia and the Gulf States, they're clandestine. And Trump's disdainful mention of the Iran deal maybe points to something big in the future. Nothing unites like a common enemy.

With the 'Palestinians',  Trump's using the stick.

Some fake news articles from the usual sources have mentioned that  'officials' are reaching out to the Arabs whom call themselves 'Palestinians' ot reassure them nothing's changed.  It's news to their leaders, who are literally going berserk. President Trump not only froze $21 million Obama gifted to 'Palestine' indefinitely, he's also defunding UN bodies who recognize 'Palestine' like UNESCO. And the U.S. just blocked a UN appointment for former 'Palestinian' PM Salem Fayyad. In contrast, Trump selected as U.S. Ambassador to Israel none other than David Friedman, who supports moving the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem as well as the Israeli communities in Judea and Samaria.

What Trump is doing with the 'Palestinians' is the equivalent of training a puppy. He's letting them know there are consequences for their incitement, violence and intransigence and that if they want to receive certain privileges like anything resembling statehood they had better behave appropriately.

This is something they have never have had to deal with before, and it might actually result in peace if they get the message. The Donald is just setting up the climate for a shot at making a deal, and if Abbas wants anything at all he's going to have to be willing to come to the table with real concessions that mean something or wind up with NOTHING.

Don't be surprised if Abbas ends up with demilitarized autonomy in Area A and perhaps some of Area B when and if a deal gets made...exactly what they were supposed to get under Oslo, rather than 'statehood.'

Another piece of the puzzle has to do with so new legislation passed by the Israeli Knesset.

Israel's newly passed Regulation Law, legalizes Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria that were unknowingly built on land that may have been privately owned by Arabs or where the inhabitants had permission from the Israeli government to do so.

The law provides for a legal settlement to owners of private land who can prove their claims of 125% of the land's assessed value or the equivalent of 20 years rent on the raw land.

Basically, this is eminent domain, similar to laws in many other countries that allow private land to be acquired for public benefit. In many cases, title would have transferred by adverse possession (open use of the land for a statutory period without an objection from the owners) without compensation being required. Again, most countries have this kind of law, so the Israeli government is actually being more lenient in passing this law then they need to be.

This is direct defiance  to the UN's bigoted Resolution 2334, which sought to impose a ridiculous settlement with no regards to Israel or to previous agreements whatsoever.

You'd never know it listening to the UN squawk, but in actual fact,  the Regulation Law changes very little. All of the Israeli communities and almost all of the Israeli population live in Area C, which was always under Israeli sovereignty according to Oslo and was always supposed to be retained by Israel in any peace settlement, at least until Barack Hussein Obama came along. The governing authority, in some cases the Israeli government and in other cases the IDF is already permitted to acquire privately owned land for public benefit just as governments in most countries do.

What the new Regulation Law does is simply this; in places where Israelis built settlements on privately held Palestinian property without knowing it was privately owned or received the government’s consent for building  there, the Israeli government is now required to impose eminent domain and compensate the owners as described above, either 125% of the land's assessed value or the equivalent of 20 years rent on the raw land. As opposed to evicting people whom may have lived on the land for decades.

While Israel's Supreme Court might challenge this law, there's a decent chance it won't. Israel Supreme Court is far more to the Left than the Israeli government or even the majority of most Israelis, because of the bizarre way the justices are chosen...they pick their own successors. There's currently legislation pending to change that, and since a thumbs down on the Regulation Law might be an incentive to the Knesset approving this  legislation on how Supreme Court justices are chosen, the Court may choose simply to not address it.

The 'Palestinians' saw Resolution 2334 as a victory, giving them everything they wanted while giving up nothing. Trump's actions and the Israeli Regulation Law are showing them how wrong they were. The 'Palestinians'  are now being shown in no uncertain terms that they had better be prepared to make real concession and actually negotiate in good faith for once if they want anything at all. Whether they take that opportunity is anyone's guess, and I personally doubt they will. But if they actually do, than Trump's polices and Israel's new law could actually lead to real peace.

Parliament Votes Theresa May The Power to Execute Brexit

Today may end up being a landmark day in Britain's history. The Leftists, EUphiles and globalists did their very best to slow things down with amendments requiring compliance before Brexit could be implemented, but every one of them was solidly voted down by Parliament and PM Theresa May now has the power to execute Brexit,and the authority and a clear path to take Britain out of the EU:

Nine proposals in all, ranging from the rights of EU migrants to the opinions of the Gibraltar Government, were put to the vote, and one by one all nine proposals were thrown out by MPs.
It was a flawless night for Theresa May, as the EU (Notification of Withdrawal) Bill was passed by 494 votes to 122 in its original, unamended form.

Eurosceptic MPs could barely contain their excitement, with one minister saying as he went to vote: "I am about to have the best moment of my life since my wedding night."

(I'll resist the temptation to make the obvious joke here...)

Another unintentionally funny moment occurred when Scottish National Party MPs starting singing the EU anthem, Beethoven's 'Ode To Joy' form his 9th Symphony. That got them rebuked by Lindsay Hoyle, the Deputy Speaker. They deserved it, I'm sure. The singing must have been absolutely awful...imagine Scots trying to sing German lyrics with that accent!

In any event, Britain is now on track to exit the EU. PM May will allow Parliament to vote on her final proposal before submitting it to the EU, but the path is now clear for an expedited Brexit.

Getting Rid Of ObamaCare The Common Sense Way

ObamaCare has been a fiscal disaster as well as a healthcare disaster. The lies and misrepresentations of the Obama Administration and the Democrats to shove it through are common knowledge by now, and so is failure of most of the health exchanges. Most of the people who signed up for ObamaCare were people on MedicAid who were getting health care at no cost anyway, while many people who had functional plans saw their premiums skyrocket, their coverage diminished and their co-pays increase to the point where their coverage was essentially meaningless, especially at the Bronze level. Many workers, especially in small businesses actually saw their hours cut below full time simply because complying with ObamaCare and it's arcane rules and requirements was too expensive and/or too time consuming. Many doctors in private practice refused to accept it for the same reasons. A fair amount of ObamaCare's victims simply chose to pay the mandated penalty instead of the high premiums and hope they never got sick.

 

ObamaCare was simply one of the worst scams ever foisted on the American people, and even many of its original proponents now admit that the flimflam about it being a money saver and deficit reducer were 'overstated.'

Repealing ObamaCare was a campaign promise of President Trump's as well as many Republicans now in Congress. Yet it's been delayed.

The reasons are pretty obvious. First of all, there are a couple of provisions many people like, especially if they work in government, which had the staff and other people's money to tailor their plans so that there was compliance with only a modest increase in co-pays and premiums, most of which ere partially paid for by their employer, or rather, the taxpayers. Particularly popular were the provisions allowing people to keep their children on their plans until age 26 and not allowing insurers to deny people with pre-existing conditions.

Second, insurance is a business based on future projections. Rates are figured on the basis of risk and probable future cost in advance, and a change now would create chaos in the industry. There's also the factor that a lot of the people on ObamaCare who aren't paying anything for coverage anyway like the status quo. And they vote.

That's why you're seeing the dithering going on in congress over getting rid of this costly travesty. A lot of republicans are now talking about 'fixing ' ObamaCare rather than repeal, or not doing anything until a legitimate replacement is created.

Both ideas are seriously flawed. Here's why, and how to get rid of ObamaCare in a commonsense way.

Obamacare was poorly designed and badly constructed from the very beginning. Trying to repair it would be like prettying up a house with shoddy basic construction and materials, a lousy foundation and a bad interior design. Not only that, but right now, ObamaCare is a colossal failure owned by President Obama and the Democrat party. Tinkering with it would allow them to saddle the Trump Administration and the Republican congress with that failure...'it was working fine until you fiddled with it.'

The other idea, of doing nothing until a replacement is constructed is going to take a great deal of time. Meanwhile, the American people are getting justifiably restless, especially since they remember how the Republicans in Congress did nothing about this for 8 years. In the meantime,not only is ObamaCare hemorrhaging money, but because of its tax provisions, not repealing ObamaCare delaying the tax cuts and tax reform badly needed to get the economy rolling again.

There's actually a fairly easy solution to this problem.

President Trump, together with Speaker Paul Ryan and Majority Leader Mitch McConnell should immediately announce the repeal of ObamaCare, especially the individual mandate penalty and name a date in the near future when it will no longer be in effect. This would have a number of benefits.

It would allow insurance companies and health providers lead in time to figure cost and actuarial projections for the coming year and tool up, especially if they were given advance notice of the basics of the new plan. They didn't get that when ObamaCare was unloaded on them, and it cost millions...which of course was transferred to the insured in the form of higher premiums.

It would reassure the American people that congress wasn't going to drop the ball again. a mention in the announcement that the new plan would include an assigned risk provision for pre-existing conditions and retain the provision allowing parents to keep children under 26 on their plans would also be helpful.

It would provide congress and staff members constructing the new plan with that essential prod known as a deadline. With President Trump pushing them along, I can almost guarantee it would be finished on time.

The plan itself? If we're going to have universal health care, I recommend President Trump and his advisors look at the way Israel does this, since it's one of the few government mandated healthcare programs that actually works.

In Israel, health insurance is mandatory and there are five healthcare insurance providers who compete with each other for clients, which effects the size of their government subsidies. Not all five are available in every part of the country, but you are usually sure of having at least three to choose from. In addition, every insurance program is boutique, meaning you only pay for what your particular needs require...a retired couple in their sixties, for instance, would probably not be paying for maternity care or a pediatric care. And since healthcare insurance is mandatory, the issues of pre-existing conditions and adult children being retained on their parents plan don't really exist.

One reason this works so well in Israel is that the litigious climate here in America doesn't really exist there yet. The ratio of doctors and medical personnel to lawyers is the opposite of what we have here in the U.S. which also has the effect of keeping medical care affordable. Israel also doesn't have the illegal migration problem America does. As a result,Israel does quite a nice business in medical tourism, with Europeans fed up with the long wait to have procedures performed flying to Israel to take advantage of the state of the art care at lower prices and the reduced wait time.

I'd recommend that any new national health plan America adopts include these factors...competition between providers, boutique plan and serious tort reform to keep the lawyers at arms length. And perhaps some government provisions to cut down on waste and abuse. Addressing the high cost of medical education so we can produce more doctors and medical personnel wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Stately McDaniel Manor:As I’ve recently written, Donald Trump’s performance in the first two full weeks of his presidency has come as a great shock to many, and for many reasons. Perhaps the most interesting is his work ethic.

Trump is a highly motivated businessman, a type A personality, driven to excel. Rising early, working late, doing whatever is necessary to succeed, all of this is second nature to him, and he expects it of everyone that works for him. After eight years of a man who never held a traditional 8-5 job, who may or may not have dropped by the Oval Office in the morning, and who may or may not have put in a few hours of actual work on any given day, the Beltway is still reeling from his onslaught of accomplishment. Some have yet to understand precisely what is happening, why they are so befuddled.

Shocking too is the fact that Trump is keeping his campaign promises, without equivocation, without backpedaling, without concealment and spin. He promised it, he’s doing it, and shows every sign of continuing to do just that. Americans conditioned to expect lies from every politician, and particularly after the last eight years of in-your-face, what-you gonna-do-about-it, sucker, lies, many are still stunned into disbelief. Mark Twain may have foreseen this moment when he said “Always do right. It will gratify some and astonish the rest.” A great many Americans remain astonished.

Particularly fascinating is Trump’s defenestration of the media. He has thrown them out the window and most of America is still applauding as they continue to fall, screaming all the way to the bottom. No matter how the media lies or tries to claim their latest pronouncement will be the doom of Trump, he continues to side step them by social media, and with the exception of leftists, and a few never-Trumpers, no one cares. It is particularly delicious to hear media figures self-righteously lecture us that their survival is the very survival of the First Amendment. We don’t care, and it’s their fault. Interesting how they virtually never support the Constitution until they think it to their benefit. After years of spitting in our faces, it’s satisfying to see their growing realization of irrelevance, and the resultant panic.

Mr. Trump is also emasculating congressional Democrats, who, in their mounting impotence and rage, are driving more and more voters away from them in 2018. They’re providing an enormously valuable public service by producing winning Republican political ads two years hence at no cost to Republicans. They continue to refuse to understand that it was, in large part, their arrogance, hypocrisy, smugness, and their hatred of most Americans, that elected Donald Trump. Trump knows it, and he’s playing them like Bach at the organ. They’re the gift that keeps on giving.

He is also demonstrating--and I know I say this with two scant weeks of evidence--he knows how to play on the national and international stages. It’s as hard to imagine foreign leaders and tyrants putting one over on him as it was easy to recognize them bending Barack Obama to their will at will. He really does intend to put America’s interests first, an almost unimaginable concept.

His nominations are at the least, solid, at best, stellar. His advisors are mature, experienced, capable people. And he is willing to fire insubordinate employees, particularly those that demonstrate partisanship detrimental to the public they are sworn to serve.

We haven’t seen his like before.


Don Surber: I will give Trump a gentleman's A because I am (yawn) tired of winning, right?

From his excellent inaugural speech in which he told the American people who sent him to clean up Washington that he will clean up Washington, to his sending of 20 ATF -- the Feds -- to Chicago, Trump has been an EverReady Bunny waking up Washington, a sleepy little Southern town where nothing ever seems to get done, in triplicate.

Pipelines will be built. A wall too. Companies will re-open factories. Japan will invest in our infrastructure, and the Wall will go up, paid for by a tax on liberal tears.Americans have longed for action from Washington to protect the people, and not just those in certain demographic groups, people with outlier lifestyles, and endangered sea slugs. Trump is doing so -- and not at the expense of those in certain demographic groups, people with outlier lifestyles, or endangered sea slugs.

Plus, he is a lot more interesting than Obama.

The Razor : I’ll admit that at first I was a bit white-knuckled over the initial reports of his executive orders and such. But as I delved into the facts I realized that I was just being lied to once again by the media which still hasn’t forgiven Trump for winning. Now whenever I hear anything I wait to check the sources myself. It’s a bit of a pain in the rear, but given the lies I’ve recently bought including two laid out in this article, I think he’s doing fine.

Of course the polls are giving him a tough time, but these were the same pollsters that had Hillary winning in November. Oddly no one got fired over that miss...

JoshuaPundit: Oooh,just imagine! A president who starts work right after his inauguration and keeps at it relentlessly instead of playing endless rounds of golf, enjoying 5 star luxury vacations on the taxpayer's dime and throwing a bevy of lavish parties. A president who was and still is labeled as a 'con man' by his opponents who actually does what he said he was going to do and is keeping his word to the people who voted for him. And all for the bargain price of $1 per year plus room and board!

That's what we have in the White House. And when I read the news now, I'm smiling.

Trump's vigorous start doesn't surprise me. Once I realized that at age 70, he was traveling and doing 3 to 4 sellout events per day all over the country without slowing down, I had a pretty good idea of how he'd hit the ground running. Heck, if you remember, he was working at the job even before he was inaugurated, talking to CEO's and letting them know things were going to be different. My own estimate is that he saved or crated something like 200,000 jobs before he was even sworn in, if you count the downstream vendors. His effect on foreign policy and the War on Jihad has been especially healthy. And it ain't just America. A whole new order is rising up in Europe encouraged by Brexit and Trump's victory. Europe may yet be saved.

If I'm grading his overall performance, I'd give him an A minus, and admittedly I'm nitpicking. What we're seeing is a few errors in execution from someone who is used to being a CEO and is learning that the presidency works a little differently. And perhaps he wasn't quite prepared for the lengths the toxic Left and the majority of the Democrat party are prepared to go to in attempting to sabotage his presidency and fight what amounts to a civil war, no matter what the cost to the country. But following his campaign, I found out that The Donald is a quick learner who rarely makes the same mistake twice.

He's going to win this thing. Or as the president would undoubtedly say himself, we're going to win it.

Mistakes? Well for one thing I think he would have been far better off waiting until he got Neil Gorsuch on the Supreme Court before issuing that Immigration order. It makes so much common sense and is so entirely legal and within presidential authority that President Trump may not have realized the Left would go judge shopping and attempt to block it. With Gorsuch on the bench, we would have seen a 5-4 or perhaps even a 6-3 decision. We still likely will, but this makes it a tougher battle that will almost certainly require the nuclear option. Finding a way to quietly freeze up the Refugee Resettlement program might have been a better first step. Getting Jeff Sessions in place as Attorney General first would have been helpful too. Trump knows better for next time, I think.

I've been very pleased with his appointments in general with one exception. Sean Spicer is a decent guy, but I think he lacks the poise and control he needs to deal with the media jackals. He comes across uncertain, like someone who's constantly trying to avoid being caught at something. The part of me that enjoys this as a blood sport would love to see Ann Coulter or Milo Yiannopoulos in the role, and I giggle happily at the thought of what either of them would do to the likes of say, CNN's Jim Acosta. But a more realistic choice might be talk show host Hugh Hewitt. Aside form his genial persona, he knows a lot of the players well, is smart and well spoken and has a real flair for making the Left look ridiculous while maintaining his sense of humor. I bet he'd do it if President Trump asked him. At any rate, I think Sean Spicer may be moving to a different role soon.

The Glittering Eye :Just a few weeks after taking the oath of office is really far too early for making any sort of evaluation of the Trump presidency but I'll do my best. In the following table I've listed four areas (domestic policy, foreign policy, execution, and style) with a maximum of 25 points for each area, 100 points in all.. Within each of domestic policy and foreign policy, I've listed five key actions, with a maximum of 5 points per action.

Cabinet apppointments	B-	3.67	But for his NSC appointments IMO President Trump's appointments have been pretty good.
Gorsuch appointment	A	5.00	Neil Gorsuch is a solid appointment, well-qualified for the job and under any other circumstances his confirmation should sail through. He will ultimately be confirmed but no until after considerable Sturm und Drang.
Regulations EO	B+	4.67	If there had been a little more meat in President Trump's EO requiring executive agencies to remove two regulations for each new regulation imposed, I would have given this a solid A.
Pipelines EO	B+	4.67	President Trump corrected an error made by President Obama, who acted against the recommendations of his own advisors in blocking the Keystone pipeline.
Fiduciary rule EO	C	3.00	I don't have strong feelings about this one way or another and there are good arguments in both directions. I don't think it's of vital significance.

Foreign policy
7 country travel stay EO	C+	3.33	The basic idea of what's being referred to, incorrectly, as the "Muslim ban" is reasonable enough but more deliberation would have resulted in a better policy. It should include more countries, esp. KSA, and it should not have include present green card holders, those who've worked as translators and their families, and the like. The execution and style were seriously bungled and are taken into account below.
Mexico City policy EO	C	3.00	Pure domestic politics.
The Wall	C-	2.67	The need to fulfill a campaign promise central his campaign made this inevitable but it's expensive, unnecessary, and inadequate. Most illegal Mexican immigrants are economic migrants and the only effective way to control the situation is via workplace enforcement.
Russia	C+	3.33	Putin is not a good guy. He's a very bad guy. However, the U. S. bungled any possible rapprochement with Russia 20 years ago. There are some areas in which we should cooperate with the Russians and some where we should oppose them. The sweet spot is having a better relationship with Russia and China than either does with the other.
China and East Asia	B-	3.67	On the one hand Trump clearly has the Chinese off balance and isn't as supine with respect to them as American presidents have tended to be over the period of the last forty years, IMO a good thing, but he's imposing uncertainty among our allies in the region, too.

Execution	C	15.00	It's really too early to tell.
Style	D-	7.00	President Trump has already exhibited an alarming tendency to make rash and inflammatory hipshot remarks. A generally unfriendly media then blows these out of all proportion, resulting in his having less support from moderates and centrists than might otherwise have been the case. There's a middle ground between blind approval and knee-jerk, over-heated disapproval and President Trump is making that middle ground hard to maintain.

In summary, I think President Trump is doing pretty well in domestic policy, fair in foreign policy and execution, and poor in style. Overall rating: C-. The readership of my blog covers a fairly broad spectrum of views. I assume that my more progressive readers would be appalled that I would give President Trump anything higher than an F while my more right wing readers would be upset that I would give him anything less than an A.

Bookworm Room:I am chronically happy. My sole hope was that Trump simply wouldn't be Hillary, who was lined up to be the "Second coming of Barack Obama" and the final nail in a constitutional America's coffin. I truly had no idea he'd be so spectacularly Donald -- hard-working, keeping his promises, re-shaping America's disastrous Middle East policies (including signaling an alliance with Israel in a way no president, including even Reagan, has ever done), Gorsuch-nominating, media-fighting, restoring integrity to the American border . . . It's all too marvelous, too marvelous for words.

My only fear at this point is the too-the-death battle brewing between Donald, on the one-hand, and a hard-Left, rat-like fighting-to-the-death administrative state and judiciary, on the other hand. While Donald might have theoretical authority under the Constitution, I fear that these monstrous entities may have grown so strong that he might lack the actual executive authority to change the dynamic and return those out-of-control excrescences to their proper constitutional proportions.

As for the street protests, I'm loving them. It's a gift to see Leftists go all out to prove how they are simultaneously stupid, I'll-informed, mean-spirited, and tyrannical. With their obscene costumes and club-wielding sidekicks, they are the gift that keeps on giving.


Laura Rambeau Lee, Right Reason : President Trump hit the ground running for sure. He is addressing the issues as he promised his supporters he would. The left continues to moan and wail but to no avail. He IS OUR president and it’s time to suck it up and get on with the business of governing. Trump’s cabinet appointments should get confirmed without any more delay. The media says he is playing to his base, which of course he is by doing what he said he would do if he became president. Imagine that, a president not just making promises but keeping them.

The big challenge now is to expand his base of supporters. With a clear message he could convince many of these mindless protestors of the real danger coming from the left as we see them fomenting violence and anarchy in the streets and on our college campuses. They are the ones who threaten our freedoms and need to be held accountable for their criminal behavior. It’s time the rule of law was restored to America. We are going to need President Trump to unite Americans. President Obama lit the fuse and left a very dangerous world for President Trump. I pray he will be guided to make the correct decisions for our future security and prosperity.

Paris: The Louvre Targeted By A Muslim Terrorist

 

The Louvre in Paris is one of the most famous art museums in the world, the home of priceless works of art and culture. It's an historic landmark as well as a huge sanctuary that dates back to the 12th century for some of the finest creative efforts of mankind.It's impossible to see everything in a single day. Nearly 35,000 exhibits from prehistory to the 21st century are exhibited over nearly two acres. And today the Louvre was targeted by a Muslim terrorist.

Incroyable. This is what it has come to.

29-year-old Abdallah EH (full name not released yet) is an Egyptian, who arrived in France on a flight from Dubai on January 26 and reportedly applied for refugee status. He came to the Louvre with a backpack that contained paint bombs, according to the Paris Chief of Police. When security guards asked him to open his backpack, his pulled out a machete, started yelling the old war cry ' Allahu Akbar!' and  attacked one guard who sustained a head wound. In a few months the French are going to decide their destiny in elections. They are going to decide whether they want to be a declining part of Dar Islam or the free France their forefathers fought to preserve. I think they are going to choose the latter, but we'll see. In any event, I'm sure Marine Le Pen and the Front National received another boost in the polls today.

Marine Le Pen - "The Anglo-Saxons are Awake! The Continent Is Next!"

Here's a wonderfully fiery speech by French politician Marine Le Pen of the Front National, speaking to a gathering of anti-EU populist parties in Koblenz, Germany a few days ago. And yes, The Donald gets a couple of mentions, as she cites President Trump and the UK's Theresa May as harbingers of a new age in Europe. That's exactly what Marine Le Pen means when she says that "The Anglo-Saxons are Awake! The Continent Is Next!"

Madame Le Pen currently ahead in the polls for the coming French presidential elections, as much of a shock to the EU establishment as Trump's ascendancy shocked the Left in America. This is the brave woman who will save France.

Like her Dutch and German counterparts Geert Wilders and Frauke Petry, Marine Le Pen is a voice for freedom in Europe. If you haven;t heard her speak before, you're in for a treat. Well worth the detour.

Forum: Should Mexico Pay For The Wall? Will They?

Every week on Monday, the WoW! Staff, our community and our invited guests weigh in at the Watcher's Forum, short takes on a major issue of the day, the culture, or daily living. This week's question:Should Mexico Pay For The Wall? Will They?

 The Razor : The purpose of the wall is to keep out illegals, I get that. My county is full of them and everyone suffers including the illegals themselves (from crime, exploitation, poor living conditions).
In my view there’s nothing morally wrong for a country to secure it’s own border and requiring immigrants to wait their turn.

Mexico is a failed state we share a very long border with. I don’t see how making it pay for a wall is going to make it any less a failure. I’d rather see the Trump administration take a two pronged approach:
1. Build the wall with US government funds.
2. Work with Mexico NGOs and non-corrupt government agencies (if any are left) to help the state rebuild itself.

The worse Mexico becomes the worse it’s going to be with us. It’s in our own best interest for Mexico to clean itself up and the aid we provide now will be worth the lives of our own soldiers who will have to be sent 5-10 years down the road to clean the place up like Somalia except on a huge scale.


Stately McDaniel Manor: It really comes down to whether we’re wiling to have and enforce immigration laws for Americans. If not, there’s no sense in pretending.

A necessary prerequisite is this: is the new normal unrestrained illegal immigration--and illegal drug importation--fueled and aided by the Mexican government? And if so, is America’s response to be to abandon any pretense of the sovereignty Mexico zealously enforces? Is America to follow the Obama doctrine of token enforcement of a few immigration laws in an obvious, in-your-face attempt to import enough illegals beholden to the Democrat party to eventually build a permanent Democrat voting bloc? Are Democrat-controlled cities to be allowed to flaunt federal immigration law, ignoring the rule of law and substituting instead, social justice?

If so, no wall is necessary, nor is a Border Patrol large and effective enough to have any hope of controlling the borders.

As with so much in the realm of security, we would be wise indeed to listen to the Israelis and to follow their lead. A wall, by itself, is of little use and is a waste of money, but properly manned, patrolled, and supplemented with the proper electronics and air assets, can funnel illegal immigration from a wide open fire hose deluge, to a trickle. This is not a short term project, and the political will to maintain an America-first policy over the long term depends on improved national economics credibly linked, at least in part, to enforcement of America’s immigration laws. Otherwise, when the next Democrat takes over Washington, the wall will be abandoned and easily breached, literally and figuratively.

Necessary too is a far more serious relationship with Mexico, one that does not require America to pour billions into a corrupt state that sees advantage in encouraging its poor to flood America, passing off its social welfare problems on American taxpayers. Necessary too is the choking off of the avalanche of remittances--more than $20 billion a year--that keeps Mexico’s political corruption and stagnation afloat. Taxing that money stream for awhile could easily pay for a wall and force the Mexican government and its upper class to deal with the many problems it now avoids by taking advantage of America.

There is no right for anyone to breach American borders and illegally take up residence. States--nations--that encourage the wholesale violation of American law should be treated, if not as outright enemies, at least as hostile states, and treated accordingly. At present, many Mexicans that fled the poverty and class stratification of their native country maintain an emotional attachment to Mexico, which often grows stronger the longer they are absent. Enjoying the relative bounty even the poor experience in America, they forget the misery that impelled them to risk their lives fleeing to America, and refuse to assimilate, expressing instead Mexican nationalism, often aggressively. Americans, particularly working Americans that wish no one ill, are not generally amused by such behavior.

They are particularly not amused by racist organizations like La Raza--“The Race”--that demand much, asserting those illegally in America have rights that override the rights of the native-born, and asserting a sort of virtue possessed by the ungrateful, illegal by their very presence in a nation they did not ask permission to enter, and which they call racist and hateful. They are, of course, utterly unable or unwilling to understand the inherent hypocrisy and irony in their demands of and hatred toward the nation that makes a pleasant life possible for them, and expect all the rights of citizenship, but none of the responsibilities, such as living under the rule of law.

To be sure, no man or woman of conscience can fail to pity those that illegally come here and remain, abandoning a country that cynically and willingly refuses to make the political reforms necessary to allow them to make a living. Who can hate those struggling to provide for their families? Who can begrudge the honest and hard working a chance to find a little comfort and security for those they love?

But let’s keep our priorities straight. It is Mexico--and other nations--that owes these people the opportunities and political stability their presence here damages. They are not our responsibility, and if we are to be a nation of laws, they can’t be allowed to remain.

Either we have immigration laws that benefit America and Americans, and enforce them, or we end the corrupting pretense and throw open the borders. If it is to be the former, an effective wall, with all the supporting personnel and mechanisms it requires, is a necessary beginning. If not, well, I’d rather not think about that future.

To answer the question directly, yes, Mexico should pay and yes, Mexico could be made to pay, simply because they encouraged and have profitted by illegal migration. A fairer solution would be 50-50, and I think that's how it will end up. Nieto is seriously unpopular, the peso is crashing, and the Mexican economy could not handle taxes on remittances from expatriates or tariffs on its exports to the U.S. The current contest in machismo ended properly,with both Trump and Nieto agreeing not to talk about wall payment in public anymore.They'll work a deal, in part because Mexico can benefit as well, at least to a degree. And because Nieto really has no choice. Lo siento, pobrecito. Así es como es..

The wall won't be 100% effective. No wall is. But it will significantly cut down the amount of drugs, human trafficking and illegal migration coming across the border, and that needs to happen because te lawlessness Mexicans have to live with every day is coming across the border, and that's not even mentioning the folks our Border Patrol agents refer to as OTM's - 'other than Mexicans.' Those people are coming over for entirely different reasons than jobs, and their guidebook is the Qur'an, not those easy to read comic books the Mexican government passes out by the truckload telling potential illegal migrants how to cross over easily.

The wall is a necessary evil. The United States, a wealthy First World nation finds itself with what amounts to a quasi-failed state with very little law and order just across the border, and the only way it will change is through the efforts of the Mexican people themselves. It won't happen at all if the U.S. continues to be an easy safety valve that allows the status quo to continue. The kind of change Mexico needs is going to be extremely difficult if it's even possible. But such changes only happen when things get to the point that the people themselves demand it and are willing to act. Until then, a certain level of quarantine is necessary.There are a number of other things America can do after the wall is built to help Mexico, but I will explore that in a separate article.


Don Surber: Mexico should pay for the wall, and if those costs are passed along to Americans who purchase Mexican products, so be it. Mexico has flooded the United States with cheap marijuana, cheap meth, and now cheap heroin -- as well as 5 million illegal aliens.

Foreign nations have played us for patsies. The promises of NAFTA go unfilled. Instead of reducing illegal migration from Mexico, it accelerated it.

As far as this weekend's Fake News about a Muslim ban, it strengthens support for Trump. I believe most Americans will be able to screen out the disinformation, see another weekend of freaks protesting and see that maybe Trump is not all that bad.


The Glittering Eye : Whoever pays for it, it's an ineffective policy but it's a campaign promise that formed the core of Donald Trump's campaign so he's obligated to follow through with it. If we really wanted to end illegal immigration from Mexico there's one way to do it: tough workplace enforcement.

There's no such thing as a non-porous border and the wall will only be as strong as its weakest border control agent.



Laura Rambeau Lee, Right Reason :While a lot of Americans supported and voted for President Trump because he promised to build a wall and that Mexico would pay for it, this issue was not why I supported him. I voted for him because he promised to appoint conservative Supreme Court justices, he is a strong supporter of the Second Amendment, and, well…#NeverHillary.

I’m not even sure building a wall is necessary. If the Trump Administration’s policies are going to prioritize enforcing existing laws and increase border patrol personnel, we will be doing a lot more than has been done the past few decades to curtail illegal immigration, human trafficking and the massive amount of drugs coming across our southern border. We should fund state of the art technology such as surveillance drones to watch the border and put more personnel at the heaviest trafficked areas. There may be areas where a fence or wall would be beneficial to stopping people and drugs from coming across the border and drones would help pinpoint such areas.

This should be done immediately and we should not wait for Mexico to pay for it as that might never happen. Mexico benefits too much from our porous border and really has no incentive to cooperate in this endeavor. This is a complex issue and whatever we do we need to be sure there are no negative unintended consequences as a result of our actions.

Trump Freezes Obama's $221M Gift To 'Palestine'..What It means

President Trump took quick action to freeze President Obama's $221 million dollar  gift to 'Palestine' courtesy of the American taxpayers.The money was a last minute payout  from President Barack Hussein Obama to Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinian Authority in the last hours before President Trump's swearing in on January 20th. Apparently someone leaked this to someone in President Trump's circle, because he was about to act immediately.

Two congress members, Ed Royce of California, the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and Kay Granger of Texas, who sits on the House Appropriations Committee — had placed holds on it over moves the Palestinian Authority had taken to seek membership in international organizations as well as their incitement to violence against israel. Such holds are usually respected, but President Obama decided not to do so. This would have been added to the $250 million the PA received from the US government.

What happened instead is that newly sworn in President Trump froze the funds.  PA Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah was told by the U.S. State Department  that the funds were subject to an intensive review and that he should  not expected the money in the immediate future.

President Obama giving more more money to Hamas and the kleptocrat dictatorship of Mahmoud Abbas than any previous U.S. President was obviously a case of ideology rather than any attempt at peace. He simply wore a mask for 8 years to try and hide it.Any president actually interested in negotiations for peace would  have  used the money as an incentive to Abbas to negotiate and make meaningful concessions, since unlike the U.S. relationship with Israel, America gets absolutely nothing of value from 'Palestine.'

Instead  Obama gave them everything they wanted and more, including a key abstention at the UN with a resolution Secretary of State John Kerry helped write. And cynically, he gave it to them when it would no longer harm him or his party's nominee politically. His goal was obviously not peace, but Israel's surrender...from day one.

 

Perhaps President Trump actually showing 'Palestine' that there will be real consequences for their violence, incitement and refusal to negotiate realistically with Israel might just result in peace. We'll see.

PM Theresa May Calls For Renewing The UK's Special Relationship With America

British Prime Minister Theresa May is in America to meet with President Trump and talk over a few things, and took advantage of an invitation to address the Republican Retreat in Philadelphia. The basic theme of her speech was renewing the UK's special relationship with America.   She got an extremely warm reception.



She spoke movingly about the ties  between America and the UK, invoking the close relationship between President Reagan and PM Margaret Thatcher. She recognizes, thank goodness, that this is an American renewal and obviously supports it. I think PM May and President Trump will get along famously.

PM May is obviously excited over Trump's offer of a separate trade deal now that Britain is leaving the EU.

While I thought the speech was well done, the following items were sour notes:

Her remarks on the Iran deal 'preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons for at least a decade' were, shall I say, more than a tad optimistic and far fetched, since it has done nothing of the kind. Deals like this between totalitarian regimes and democratic nations seldom turn out well, and the Iran deal is no exception. Watch and see.

While she did mention 'radical Islamism' and she's obviously no fool on the matter, her remarks on the peaceful nature of ' millions of Muslims' were obsequious and obviously designed to try to placate Muslims in the UK - a significant number of whom are definitely not peaceful.The UK actually has 9 sharia courts Muslims are required to use for family law, with horrendous results for the UK's Muslim women. You'll notice her audience didn't applaud during either of those two segments.

As an aside, it was also rather cute that she's obviously not used to American audiences. We Yanks tend to applaud far more then Brits do, more vociferously and whenever we feel like it!

All in all though, a great start.
