Move The Bones Of Your Ancestors!

Today's Daily Mail has a story about a proposal to to dig up 350,000 ancient graves at Tower Hamlets Cemetery - and reopen it as a `21st century burial site' or, to dispense with the politically correct verbiage, to dig up the graves of the ancestors of Britain's historic inhabitants in order to create a Muslim only graveyard in East London.

The Labour-controlled council's environment spokesman Abdal Ullah is promoting the idea: "To preserve the respect and dignity for everyone, I think most of the graves would have to be cleared out and we'd start afresh."

Of course, that respect and dignity doesn't extend to non-Muslims - according to Abdal Ullah, a large chunk of the proposed burial ground would be reserved and segregated for Muslims only.

In other times, the British might have gone to war over something like this.

The City of London and Tower Hamlets Cemetery was opened in 1841 by an Act of Parliament. Aside from being an historic landmark, it's also a major nature preserve and a green area in the heart of East London.

There's an elemental cultural impulse among men to protect their culture and the historic resting place of their ancestors. The fact that this would even be proposed is sign of the times in the UK, and should be a major wakeup call for our cousins across the pond.

Presumeably, the little area reserved for Moslems only would be the first step in extending the Caliphate to Britain...

Be careful. The daily mail doesn't fact check.

But if this is true I'm appalled.

Hello Junior,
Pull up a chair and help yourself to a cold one! Oh, sorry,I forgot - a nice room temperature Old Peculiar.

I saw this particular item covered a couple of places, like the local East London paper..but the Daily Mail seemed to have the most complete story.

I think it's something they were really considering ramming through, but it saw the light of day...like that London SuperMosque.
