Yes, The Iranians Are 'Self Inspecting' Their Sites - Not The IAEA

One of the main talking points proponents of the Iranian nuclear deal have repeated endlessly was the strict inspections and verification involved. Today, we have an excellent example of how that's going to work, courtesy of the AP.

The chief of the UN nuclear agency insisted Monday that a probe of a suspected nuclear weapons research site in Iran does meet strict agency standards, while acknowledging that Iranian experts provided samples from the site for analysis.

Such sampling is usually done by the International Atomic Energy Agency’s own experts. But IAEA chief Yukiya Amano told reporters that Iranians carried out that part of the probe at Parchin, where the agency suspects that explosive triggers for nuclear weapons might have been tested.

But wait a minute! According to Amano, the samples were gathered "under established procedures" with the Iranians monitored by video and still cameras as they gathered the samples.

Who does he think was running the cameras and taking the pictures? It certainly wasn't the IAEA. With this sort of 'procedure' in place, Iranians don't even have to go to the trouble of doctoring photos and editing videos...or even actually taking photos and video at Parchin itself. They could be from anywhere, even from a mocked up 'Parchin' site. How would anyone know except the Iranians?

It gets better. Amano was taken to Parchin on what the Iranians termed 'a ceremonial tour' for one day. Even he acknowledged that there's been a cleanup:

Amano spoke a day after he was taken on what Iranian media described as a ceremonial tour of the military site. He told reporters in Vienna that he was able to enter a building that the agency had been observing via satellite and saw signs of “recent renovation work.”

He appeared to be referring to the building where the agency suspects that weapons experiments were conducted. The agency has frequently said that subsequent renovation work at and near the building could hamper the IAEA probe, a position Amano repeated on Monday.

Parchin, by the way, is where the IAEA suspected that Iran was working on nuclear triggers.

This is the sort of inspection and verification we've heard so much about from President Obama and his minions that America is basing its national security on.

The Iran deal is guaranteed to do one thing...to give  Iran all the time, money and space they need to obtain nuclear weapons, beef up their military and foment terrorism in the region.

Mystery Explosion At Iran's Arak Heavy Water Plant?

There's a great deal of chatter from various sources about a mysterious explosion at Iran's heavy water plant in Arak late last week.The blast reportedly occurred during preparations for a test of the reactor with real nuclear fuel, and damage was said to be extensive.

The Arak plant is an important part of Iran's quest for nuclear weapons, as the heavy water reactor, known as IR-40, can be used to produce plutonium, an alternative route to centrifuges and enrichment for the production of nuclear weapons. The Arak plant has no non-military applications.

Iran had already informed the UN's IAEA that the test with real fuel would be the last stage before the reactor entered its beginning stages prior to going fully online. If the explosion occurred as reported, it appears that test may be delayed for quite some time.

The Iranians are said to be speculating that the cause of the blast could either be sabotage, a virus planted in the computers that run the facility, or miscalculation and/or inferior materials used in construction.

Needless to say, the Iranian regime is doing their best to keep any problems with their nuclear weapons program quiet. This particular story was leaked by dissident factions within Iran who've been right most of the time before. After all, they were the ones who busted the Ayatollahs for their illegal nuclear weapons program in the first place, not the CIA or other western intelligence outfits.

Report: Iranians Have Completed Cleanup Of Nuclear Site To Hide Weaponization Evidence

Back in February of this year, International Atomic Energy (IAEA) officials deflared their desire to inspect Iran's top secret Parchin facility after reports of military nuclear related activity. Needless to say, Iran refused to let IAEA inspoectors anywhere near it.

But what they did do was to engage in a massive cleanup of the site to 'sanitize ' it and hide the evidence of what they'd been engaged in.

According to the Institute for Science and International Security (ISIS) report, published with new satellite imagery, the Iranians have finally completed what must have been a major operation to hide whatever they had going on at Parchin:







The latest image shows massive cleanup efforts. The entire area surrounding the buildings appears to have been bulldozed, covered, and flattened.

According to ISIS, the work began in March, right after the IAEA first requested access. Now that it's finished, I'm sure the Iranian regime might allow an inspection of Parchin....in exchange for a suitable quid pro quo, of course.

This is the equivalent of a murderer or drug dealer offering to let the police search his home or place of business to 'prove his innocence' after he's had months to make sure no evidence is going to be found.

Meanwhile the centrifuges keep spinning, and talks that continually go nowhere keep going.

If I were the Iranians, based on what's happened to date I would see no reason not to keep heading for nuclear weaponry. When it comes to the west, they have literally gotten away with murder for years, and if I were the mullahs I'd certainly see no reason things might change anytime soon.

Except, of course, for those irritating Jews in the 'Zionist entity' north of them.

They might conceivably turn out to be a problem.

New IAEA Report On Iran: 'Making Nuclear Weapons'

The new IAEA report on Iran's nuclear program makes it pretty clear:

Yukiya Amano, the organisation’s director-general, is unlikely to draw a definitive conclusion that Iran is making nuclear weapons, but according to Western diplomats the facts will make any other conclusion implausible.

They believe the IAEA has substantiated evidence from intelligence reports, interviews with Iranian scientists and on-the-ground inspections that Iran is carrying out a nuclear weapons programme in parallel to its civilian energy goals.

The agency will sound the alarm over Iranian scientists’ work to develop a ballistic missile warhead capable of carrying a nuclear device. It has already uncovered evidence that Iran has been carrying out research into triggers for nuclear weapons.

Inspectors have also questioned Iranian scientists on simulation programmes that they believe are designed to design and test a potential weapon.

“This is the product of a vast amount of work by the IAEA which will show the level of evidence they’ve accumulated and make clear a number of supplementary indications they have uncovered,” said a Western diplomat. “It makes an inescapable case that Iran has ambitions to militarise the uranium it has been enriching at its production facilities.”

Another official said: “The Iranians have been very evasive, and quite clever about it at times. It’s been difficult to discover the smoking gun. But this will be more detailed than before. The director-general will point to black holes in the Iranians’ explanations. It will undoubtedly increase the pressure.”

The irony is that this all could have been dealt with with a lot easier and a lot simpler had it been tackled before.But we were busy nation building with President Bush's Arab democracy fetish in Iraq while the real threat was metastasizing just across the Persian Gulf.

I'll repeat what I wrote yesterday..President Obama's preferred scenario is to try and use the threat of an Israeli strike on iran as leverage to try and get support from Russia and China for actual, punitive sanctions on Iran rather than military action.

The whole idea of sanctions is a non-starter, since China and Russia will hardly abide by any sanctions if there's business to be had. Neither will Germany, for that matter. And in any event, Iran is too far advanced now along the nuclear path.But expect that same old failed gambit to be tried again.

If there is a military strike on Iran, either the Israelis will do it alone if the West fails to with the Saudis looking the other way as the IDF flies over their territory or it will be a NATO strike led by the US and the UK with perhaps with a smattering of Arab forces in a coalition. and if it happens, it will come at a time of maximum advantage for President Obama's re-election campaign, with the Israeli role limited to intel, recon and keeping Iran's proxies in Gaza, Lebanon and Syria busy, so as not to complicate things with the Muslim world.

In any event, the IAEA report means that this can't be swept under the rug any more.
