Breaking: Two Dead In Shooting at Kansas City Jewish Centers

Two people were murdered today by a gunman who fired shots at the Overland Park Jewish Community Center of Kansas City and at the nearby assisted living residence, Village Shalom.

A 15-year-old boy is said to be in critical condition. The shooting took place at 1:00 PM local time, and police took the shooter into custody at the nearby Valley Park Elementary School, several blocks from Village Shalom.

Local news outlets are reporting that the man was heard yelling “heil Hitler” as police arrested him.

UPDATE: Rabbi Arthur Nemitoff, senior Rabbit at The Temple, Congregation B'nai Jehudah which is located about a mile from the Jewish Community Center told ABC News that police arrived after the shooting and have stationed a police car there as a precautionary measure.

Nemitoff said police also told him about the shooting at Village Shalom, which is about a half-mile from the temple.
