Dating A Co-Ed In California? Use A Condom And Bring A Notary Along

California just added its own salvo to the war on men.

The state assembly just passed SB 967, already passed by the state Senate. This bill requires colleges and universities receiving public funds to enforce an “affirmative consent” standard on all campus sexual activity.

Among other things, the bill, by Democratic Sen. Kevin de Leon of Los Angeles requires investigations of sexual assaults to seek whether there was  "affirmative consent". Silence or lack of resistance doesn't amount to consent under the new standards, nor is it consent if the party bringing the action, the victim  claims she was drunk or otherwise intoxicated at the time.

Let's examine what those fine words mean, shall we?

 http://www.laprogressive.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/college-student.gif

If you're, say, a sophomore at UCLA dating a fine specimen of California co-ed you met in Owning White Privilege 101 and things progress romantically to the point where the two of you are apparently willing to make the Beast with Two Backs, S T O P   R I G H T   T H E R E.

You must first get the girl's full and explicit consent to any and all sexual activity the two of you might have had in mind....positions, who does what to whom, which orifices are involved, everything. And since if things go sour later (for example, if you start dating a different girl) it's your word against hers as to what happened,  so you had better get it in writing..and notarized. Or video tape a detailed consent statement, at the very least. How romantic!

http://www.femalefirst.co.uk/image-library/land/500/l/laptop-in-bed-200480276-001.jpg

Even then, you're not really covered. The girl can say she initially consented but then changed her mind and you refused to stop. Or she can say she didn't say anything because she 'felt intimidated'. Or she can say she was drunk or high at the time. Can you prove she wasn't? Several days, weeks or even months after the fact?

I am not kidding.

The White House and The Department of Education pressured many colleges to change the burden of proof standard that they use in disciplinary proceedings over sexual harassment and sexual assault in 2011. And unfortunately, given the politics, many colleges didn't have to be pressured at all.

They now routinely restrict a male student's right to due process by using ‘preponderance of the evidence’ as the new, lower standard of proof instead of the higher ‘clear and convincing’ standard.

Among other things, the new guidelines demand that students “not be allowed to personally cross-examine each other.” Court rulings like Donohue v. Baker (1997), concluded that cross-examination must be allowed in campus disciplinary hearings, but that isn't being taken into consideration any more. Frequently, male students are not even allowed an attorney in these college inquisitions.

According to the the Education Department’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR), “Preponderance of the evidence” means that if a school thinks there's as  little as a 51 per chance that the accused is guilty, the accused must still be disciplined.

 http://cdn2.mommyish.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/shutterstock_64312033-300x199.jpg

Yes, ‘preponderance of the evidence’ essentially means that if a College disciplinary board thinks you just might be guilty or the girl's a half way decent actress, they will find against you. You will likely be asked to leave the college no matter what the actual facts are. Why take a chance and open themselves up to liability or risk being accused of political incorrectness just to protect your rights? And then, with that on your record, try to get into another college, let alone grad school. And even if you're not kicked out of college, the stigma remains, and it could even make the difference in where you are able to be hired.

You think I'm exaggerating? Here are just a a few examples that ought to change your mind.

The hellish thing about this totalitarian overreach is that it does absolutely nothing to protect college girls from rape.  Does anyone in his or her right mind imagine that an actual rapist on campus would have any problem physically intimidating his victim to sign a consent form?

A sensible male going to college in California can only take one message from this. Just as dating someone you work with no longer makes any sense for pretty much the same reason, it no longer makes sense to date California co-eds, at least if you're in college. And that especially applies to a co-ed in your own school .Of course, that doesn't totally protect you, since the way things are  now you can be accused of sexual assault even if you had no sexual contact with the girl in question and the odds are definitely not in your favor. But avoidance at least makes it less likely.

Since the two of the most common places for women meet their future spouses (or at least they used to be) is at work or in school, this new male bashing  nonsense all but guarantees that there will be a lot of sad and lonely single  California women in their late twenties to mid thirties wondering why  they can't seem to meet a decent guy who might be a potential mate. And unfortunately, it's not just California.

Jason Collins, 'Heroic'????

I absolutely can't believe the to-do over basketball player Jason Collins outing himself as a homosexual.

One breathless commentator over at USA Today even compared him with Jackie Robinson, believe it or not...

I'm sure you've all noticed the 'straight only' bathrooms, water fountains, seating sections in restaurants and public buildings and the many neighborhoods where gays are unable to buy property.

Oh, wait a minute, you haven't?

Full disclosure..I'm not a round ball fan and know nothing about Collins, nor do I care whom he sleeps with. But it seems to me that calling him heroic is just a tad misplaced.

If anyone deserves credit and sympathy, it's his former fiancée, Carolyn Moos.

She only found out Collins was a gay a couple of days before he announced it.

Carolyn tells TMZ, she never once suspected he was gay, so the news is shocking. She says Collins eventually revealed everything last weekend — just days before his big announcement — and said that his homosexuality was the real reason he ended things with her.

At the time of their breakup, Carolyn says Jason gave a bunch of BS reasons for calling it quits ... and she could never understand what went wrong, until now. [...]

"It's very emotional for me as a woman to have invested [eight] years in my dream to have a husband, soul mate, and best friend in him. So this is all hard to understand."

Eight years. And after all that, he calls her up just like that and says 'Guess what, I'm batting for the other team'. Like he didn't know before?

And while Jason Collins was discovering this about himself, does anyone doubt he was cheating on her?

If he had any doubts about his orientation and he cared about this young woman and her feelings, I think he owed her some honesty.

To her credit, Ms. Moos has remained fairly classy about being strung along like that.

"I care about [Jason] tremendously and only want the best for him," she said. "I want Jason to be happy for a lifetime and stay true to who he really is, inside and out."

Again, I could care less who Jason Collins sleeps with. But based what his behavior and his treatment of his fiancée reveals about his character, I don't see him being held up as any kind of hero or model at all.

That's the only part about this I think worthy of mention, because it shows how debased our ideas of what heroism is are becoming.

Cooked Weiner - Finally Admits Posting Lewd Photos To Twitter

Faced with total exposure, Congressman Anthony Weiner finally admitted that yes, that was his cocktail frank straining his shorts that was posted via twitter, and to making 'terrible mistakes.'

Addressing the media at the Sheraton Hotel in Midtown Manhattan, Weiner made the following statement: “Last Friday night I tweeted a photograph of myself that I intended to send as direct message as part of a joke to a woman in Seattle. Once I realized I posted it to Twitter, I panicked, I took it down and said that I had been hacked. I then continued with that story to stick to that story which was a hugely regrettable mistake.”

“I am so sorry to have disrupted her life in this way. To be clear, the picture was of me and I sent it. I am deeply sorry for the pain this has caused my wife Huma and our family, and my constituents, my friends, supporters and staff,” Weiner said.

In things like this, it's always the attempted coverup that does more damage than the act itself. Although I notice he's still trying to deflect criticism by referring to it as 'a joke'. It wasn't, especially since it appears it was more than a one time lapse, and with more than one woman . And it turns out Andrew Breitbart was right all along, wasn't he?

I actually feel sorry for Weiner, just a little, and I don't see any call for gloating. We've all screwed up at one time or another, and he just got married to Huma Abedin, a very attractive longtime personal aide of Hillary Clinton's less than a year ago. That's not going to be a very pleasant situation for either of them at home, and a tough one to work through. She has to be thinking 'Wasn't I enough?'

Who is Huma Abedin dating?

On the other hand, they have the Clintons to help advise them...maybe I shouldn't have said that.

At any rate, I wish Congressman and Mrs. Weiner the best of luck in getting through a tough time.

Get Your Dream Girlfriend on Facebook??

http://media.nbcbayarea.com/images/267*151/cloudgirl.jpg

Of course! Especially since she's made to your exact specifications.

A new, soon-to-launch Facebook application allows loveless technogeek guys to sign up for a 'Cloud Girlfriend.'

The Cloud Girlfriend website describes how it works:

"Step 1: Define your perfect girlfriend. Step 2: We bring her into existence. Step 3: Connect and interact with her publicly on your favorite social network Step 4: Enjoy a public long distance relationship with your perfect girl."

Takes all that annoying uncertainty out of it, doesn't it? Along with most of the fun.

It's an interesting trend...stuff like 'Second Life' , 'Worlds of Warcraft' and other virtual universes seem to be getting more popular as people feel more out of control in the real world.

One thing I fail to understand is why they didn't create a 'Cloud Boyfriend' for dateless female technogeeks. That scenario is just as likely as the other way around.

Pakistani Actress Defies Mullahs Who Accuse Her of 'Immorality'

This is an amazing video that's in the process of going viral.

Pakistani actress Veena Malik committed a grave sin, apparently..she appeared on an Indian TV show dressed like a modern 21st century woman and actually behaved with love, decency and tolerance towards the Hindus in the cast.

Because of that, she's being roundly condemned in Pakistan and is under a death fatwa from the Taliban.

But that hasn't affected her raw courage at all, as she lays into an obscene, hypocritical Muslim cleric who denounces her for her 'crime'...appearing on the Indian “Big Brother” show to show the Indian public across the border that not every Pakistani is a savage, hate-filled monster and that there are Pakistanis like her that 'who believe in love, entertainment and fun.'

Unfortunately, there are a lot more Pakistanis like the cleric than there are like Veena Malik. I hope she's taking adequate precautions.

A Small Anti-Jihad Victory

A few days ago, I was notified by someone I unfortunately do not recall(and if you read this, please remind me so I can give proper credit) about an absolutely abhorrent ad by HSBC bank touting it's investments in Iran.

After locating the company's US advertising officials, I sent the following To Diane Bergan, listed as their Senior Vice President in charge of Public Affairs US:

Dear Ms. Bergan;

In view of its stance on civil liberties and how Iran treats women, homosexuals, Jews, and Baha'is, I was surprised to see a major Western bank endorsing the Iranian regime with an advertising campaign, let alone boasting about investing there.

Tell me, does that 25% mentioned in the ad refer to female filmmakers or the percentage of Iranian women who have been beaten and/or raped by the basij in places like Evin Prison?

Needless to say, I will out of principle refuse to have my company fund any construction or investment through HSBC in the future.

Sincerely,
Rob Miller

I then alerted my e-mail list. Today, I received the following:

Dear Mr. Miller:

Your email correspondence directed to Diane Bergan, Senior Vice President – Public Affairs, regarding an “Unlocking the World’s Potential” campaign advertisement has been forwarded to the Executive Offices of HSBC Bank USA, N.A.

First and foremost on behalf of HSBC Bank I apologize for the concern which our advertisement in Greece caused. The advertisement was part of an HSBC global campaign and one of many which identified simple but surprising facts as a way to facilitate a conversation about unlocking the world’s potential.

So while our aim is to encourage debate and discussion we certainly have no intent to cause offense or be insulting, in fact quite the opposite.
Given the clear level of offense that this advertisement has caused the decision has been taken to remove it from our global campaign.

We respect your position and thank you for taking the time to raise your concerns with us.

Yours sincerely,

Margaret Moog
Senior Vice President
Head of Customer Experience

Note two things...first, while HSBC may not curtailing its investments in Iran just yet, they recognize the hypocrisy and inappropriateness of the ad they used and took action. That's an important first step.

Second, even a huge corporation like HSBC are very conscious of their public image, as they should be. Point out something like this to them, and they notice. Realize that you can make a difference, and such small differences add up over time.

Muslim Imam Who Lectures On Non-Violence Arrested For Wife Beating

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2010/12/02/article-1335024-0C52659A000005DC-113_468x351.jpg

Some stories almost write themselves.

Sheikh Abu Adam is the Egyptian imam of the Darul Quran Mosque in Munich. He's something of a poster boy for 'moderate' Islam, lectures frequently on topics like 'An Islam which distances itself from violence' and advises the German government on Islamic affairs.

But at home, he's apparently a real traditionalist.

The imam was arrested by German police after beating one of his wives so badly that she suffered a broken nose and shoulder and numerous cuts and bruises.

The police were called by her lawyer. The imam allegedly refused to let police officers into his home, but they forced their way past him because they feared the woman's life was in danger. She's now under police protection.

The woman, who was the mother of one of the Sheikh's ten children, apparently took some of his lectures to heart and told Sheikh Abu Adam she wanted to live a more 'western' lifestyle. That's what allegedly brought on the beating, which was accompanied by the appropriate Qu'rannic verses about what happens to disobedient Muslim women and how their husbands need to knock some sense into them.

I predict one of those 'I divorce thee' text messages in the near future.

Burka Ban To Go Into Effect In France

France's top constitutional authorities have ruled that the French legislation to ban the burqa and other Islamic face coverings being worn in public places meets all legal tests, which means the ban can become part of French law.

France is the first European country to nationally ban Islamic face coverings in this way. The law goes into effect this spring and has an approval rating among the French public of of more than four to one, with 82 percent of people polled approving of the ban, while 17 percent disapproved.

I wouldn't be surprised to see other European countries adopt similar laws.

Aside from the obvious national security benefits, the ban marks the beginning of a long struggle to liberate Muslim women in France...although I expect that France's Islamists will attempt to keep the burqa and niqab in force under threat of beatings or mutilation, at least in the no go areas in France's cities they control.

Sex And State Power

My pal Bookworm has a great piece up on American Thinker...here's a sampling:

For many years, physicists have tried to find a unified theory of everything. They have faith that somewhere out there, there is a theory that will explain the physical properties of all things, without any exceptions. I'm not sure that dream will be realized in the scientific arena, but I think I might have stumbled across a unified theory that underlies statist philosophies, whether they are socialist or theocratic: sex.

Before you get too excited, this article isn't going to be about voluptuous women in slinky, abbreviated clothes, or scantily clad men with rippling pecs and washboard abs. Sorry.

Instead, this article focuses on the sordid, depressing, government-controlled side of human sexuality. That is, it examines sex not from the viewpoint of any given individual's particular desires, but from the viewpoint of a state intent upon gaining maximum control over that same individual.

Those of us who came of age before the 1980s, when the Judeo-Christian, Western tradition, though battered, was still ascendant, view our sexuality as a private matter. We believe that our bodies are our own property, which means that we should not be touched or controlled sexually without our consent. A person raised with this worldview inevitably believes as well that his ability to control his body is the essence of his individuality. This physical individuality is the antithesis of slavery, which represents a person's ultimate lack of control over his body.

Statist regimes, of course, cannot tolerate self-ownership, which is the natural enemy of government control over the individual. The easiest example one can find of a statist regime using sexuality to deny individuality and dominate its citizens is, of course, Islam.

A wise friend of mine once opined that Islam's entire quarrel with the West rests on its fear that Western values will undermine Islam's control over its women and, with that, its control over the men who benefit from a system that subjugates one half of the population to the control of the other half. There's a great deal of truth in that observation.

Unlike most other conflicts, Islam's quarrel with the West does not revolve around borders, water supplies, or economic control over assets. Instead, it focuses on culture -- and the heart of the Islamic cultural difference with the West, at least in the Muslim mind, is Islam's statist determination to erase a woman's individuality through control over her sexuality.

In the Muslim world, women are viewed as temptresses, and men as feeble creatures incapable of resisting feminine wiles. The only way to control the anarchy that this perceived sexual imbalance creates is for the State -- and remember that Islam and the State are indistinguishable from each other -- to exert total dominion over the women within its reach.

The best way to regulate women is to remove them entirely from view. Islam has traditionally relied upon harems to isolate women from view (and, not coincidentally, from the body politic). This practice is still used in Saudi Arabia, where women may not leave the home unless they are accompanied by a male family member.

Should the imprisonment option be unavailable, however, wrapping the women in completely obscuring, shapeless mountains of cloth is an adequate substitute. Women so enveloped, aside from losing any individuality, are relatively dysfunctional and, therefore, are entirely dependent on men.

The Craziest Things Women Do On FaceBook

http://images.askmen.com/top_10/dating/1255470286_top-10-social-networking-pickup-tips_2.jpg

From FOX news...starting with:

1. Women set up fake profiles to follow exes on Facebook

This one may seem a bit extreme, but it is certainly not unheard-of for a woman to set up a fake Facebook persona in order to creep on her ex’s profile. At the very least, she might get a mutual friend to allow her a little access to an ex’s Facebook page. Whether you broke up badly or it was mostly mutual, if you don’t keep in touch, she probably wants to know what you’re up to. Instead of calling or e-mailing you, it’s easier and less embarrassing to scope out your profile while you are blissfully unaware that she is checking up on you. If you want to prevent this from happening, don’t add any strangers to your friends list. If you have a friend you know is still in touch with her, keep your interactions limited.

Fear And Loathing: The Psychosexual Element In Jihad

One of the things that many non-Muslims have trouble reconciling with their notions of multiculturalism when it comes to Islam is the attitudes expressed in the religion and the culture towards women and female sexuality. To many non-Muslims, attitudes expressed by a significant portion of Muslim society towards women can easily be viewed as the Muslim version of fear and loathing.

Things like horrific abuse and even honor killings over matters that seem utterly trivial to non-Muslims abound. The Qu'ran itself permits wife beating and mandates inferior status for women in important matters like marriage, divorce, inheritance and the right to testify in a court of law. Clitorectomies are common in the Islamic world, as is enforced segregation of women, dependence on male permission for many everyday activities and mandatory head to toe covering.

These attitudes are so deeply ingrained in many Muslim societies that in one infamous instance, when faced with a choice of letting young schoolgirls out of a burning building insufficiently covered or forcing them back inside to die, Saudi Mutawateen (religious police) chose to let the girls burn to death without hesitation.

To find a real 'war on women, look no further.

Are these and other instances an integral part of Islam, or are they merely cultural?

That's an important question the West needs to ask itself, and soon. If these attitudes are cultural, well, culture can be changed to a degree. A Japanese or a Jamaican growing up in say, Britain will maintain certain ties to those cultures but will almost always assimilate to British culture to a large degree, because that's all he knows and the milieu in which he or she lives, and the same should be true of an Arab or a Pakistani. However, if these practices are an integral part of an ongoing belief system like Islam, the problem is much deeper and unlikely to be eradicated by any amount of cultural assimilation.

And if that's the case, we in the West are going to have to start asking ourselves some very hard questions.

To come up with some answers, I think it's important to look at Islam's formation, its beginnings and its interaction with the existing tribal cultures where it originated, in 7th century Arabia.Perhaps a good place to start is with Islam's founder, Mohammed.

Mohammed grew up as an orphan and was raised in his uncle's house in Mecca, his parents having died when he was an infant. In other words, he never experienced what we might consider a normal level of maternal love or approval.

While Mohammed was a blood relative of his uncle, he may or may not have been a particularly favored one. We do know that his uncle, as part of the Quraysh clan made his living from two sources, trade caravans and his share of income from the pagan shrine to the Arab deity, the moon god Lah(in Arabic al-Lah) known as the Ka'aba, which then as now was sacred to the Arabs and attracted pilgrims due to a meteorite within the Ka'aba known as the Sacred Black Stone.

We also know that Mohammed was unlettered and that at a fairly young age Mohammed was working as a camel drover in his uncle's caravans where he traveled as far as Damascus and came into contact with Jewish and Christian monotheism.

When Mohammed was twenty five, he caught the eye of Kadija, a well-to-do 40 year-old widow with property who married him. This also leads me to believe that Mohammed may not have been a particularly favored relative in his uncle's house, since he obviously had no wealth of his own at the time to pay a bride-price, his uncle obviously had made little or no effort to find him a bride of child-bearing age or to help with the financial outlay and a match with a 40 year-old widow in those days could hardly be expected to produce offspring.

Did Mohammed marry Kadija as a way out of his uncle's house? Did he, deep down, resent having to marry someone who was an elderly woman by the standards of that time and place? We have no way of knowing, but it provides some interesting food for thought, especially in light of how it may have affected Mohammed's attitudes towards women.

The couple remained married for twenty five years until Kadija's death at age 65, when Mohammed was 50.He thus spent the years of what could be called his sexual prime tied to a much older woman, and undoubtedly experienced a sexual drought during the last 5 to 10 years of the marriage . The hadiths, which chronicle the life, sayings and times of Mohammed uniformly agree that Mohammed was a faithful husband to Kadija while she lived and had no other women, something that's fairly plausible considering that the family wealth remained in her hands until her death and Mohammed's sole source of income and support came through her.

During that time, of course, Mohammed had his famous revelation in the cave and Islam was created.

With that in mind, we can examine the connections between Islam as it emerged and the existing tribal culture at the time.

To Muslims, the Qu'ran and what it contains are not merely divinely inspired, but the unadulterated word of Allah himself..G-d 3.0,if you will, direct from the source. It is always a wasted, futile effort to quarrel with items of faith. However, the hadiths again agree that Mohammed, who was familiar with Judaism and Christianity prayed for a third divine revelation specifically for the Arabs, rather than for mankind as a whole, and it is also a fact that Islam was uniquely formulated for the Arab tribal cultures at the time. Mohammed himself refers to the Arabs as `the best of peoples' and even today the Qu'ran is primarily studied in Arabic and has, in general what we might call an Arab-centric bias.

In terms of Islam's view of women and female sexuality, it seems obvious to me that part of it came from the existing Arab tribal culture and a great deal of it from Mohammed's personal view of women, based on his experiences.

It's not at all hard to imagine a fifty-year-old man,who had spent all of his young manhood married to a much older woman who held the purse strings would picture a paradise peopled by young, eternally virgin houris,or that a significant part of the Qu'ran would deal with the subject of women as booty.

Of course, that was then and this is now, but based on the examples I've given above, not much has changed in a significant part of the Muslim world.

Part of the reason, of course is the example of Mohammed, who Muslims consider the human paradigm, the perfect man and someone whom many Muslims seek to emulate.

If Mohammed reacted unconsciously to his early history by relegating women to the status of chattel controlled by men, if he gleefully partook of those female captives his right hand possessed, if he felt perfectly free to consummate a marriage with a nine-year-old girl at the ripe age of 55, if he said the beating of a disobedient wife was acceptable behavior, there are a significant number of Muslims today that regard this as perfectly acceptable.

The question that remains is how much of these attitudes came from Mohammed's own psyche and his feelings about his marriage and how much came from the ancient Arab tribal cultures.

My own feeling is that the two attitudes fed on each other, as Islam and the primitive tribal culture combined back in the day to sustain each other.

And because of that, they can't be separated by their very nature...even though some valiant attempts have been made in the past, and are being made today by some Muslims who understand the need for a change.

The psychodrama inherent in Islam's attitudes towards women and fear of female sexuality is something that's going to have to be worked out, one way or the other, by Muslims themselves and they are certainly welcome to it. But from the West's point of view, it offers a unique tool in eliminating the problems with Islam here at home. To put it bluntly, Islam does not and never has played well with others.

For our own societies, we can help the process along by curtailing immigration from countries where these attitudes are common and avoiding even the slightest recognition of sharia law as an acceptable legal system. And when it comes to those Muslims already here, monitoring and if need be intervening to make sure that what's being taught in all those Saudi-funded madrassahs and Islamic schools does nothing to contradict or undermine our western laws and standards.

Aside from these steps freeing Muslim women, it will protect our own women and girls. The horrendous rape epidemic in Europe perpetrated almost exclusively by Muslim men against non-Muslim women is a warning of what happens when Islam is imported without some very stringent guidelines. It should never have happened anywhere and it should not be repeated, no matter what steps it takes and how 'politically incorrect' it seems.

And the example set could end up changing the entire dynamic, as it did in Post-WWII Japan. Or to put it another way, free the women and the rest will follow. That strategy is as old as Eve and the Apple.

- selah -
