The Fred Thompson Meltdown Continues
As more and more of his potential supporters learn about Fred Thompson's choice of open borders advocate and pro-Islamist ex-senator and lobbyist Spencer Abraham as his campaign manager, Thompson's luster as th egreat GOP savior has begun to dim precipitously.
Latest to weigh in are Dymphna at Gates of Vienna, Elaine at Aaron's Rod ( who removed all the Blogs For Fred links to her site) and Deb at Right Truth.
And Michelle Malkin also did a short bit with Laura Ingraham on her national show.
As I said in my piece, no one who's serious about winning the War Against Jihad would want a tool like Abraham anywhere near him.Either Thompson was ignorant about Abraham's background, which means he lacks the judgment to be president, or he knew about it and appointed Abraham anyway...which means that no one who's serious about fighting this war or controlling the borders should remotely consider supporting him.
I think we're done with stealth candidates who talk the talk but don't walk the walk.

I don't think you're being fair here, FF. Surely everyone makes a mistake every now and then. I recall during the 2000 campaign for the Republican presidential nominee, the Bush campaign had individuals call homes and ask people if they were more likely to vote for McCain if they knew he fathered illegitimate children...a not too-subtle psychological tactic there.
And need I mention how Kerry's war reputation was tarnished in 2004?
Oh,Hi `Billy',
Well, we can't all be as insightful and intelligent as you,y'know.
I mean. out of over 100,000 visitors in the space of about a year and a half, I can't remember anybodywho left suchg an insightful, fact filled comment on this site.
Your brilliant ideas and logic sure put me in my place.
Hi Nazar
I respectfully disagree with you.
Unlike the two items you mentioned, Abrahams' record is a matter of fact, and Thompson appointed him campain manager in spite of that. Thompson either lacks the judgement to be president or is dissembling about his views. There's no third option.
BTW, as you know, I'm no fan of Bush but I've never seen conclusive factual proof of the item you mention.
As for Kerry, I don't think his war record was tarnished in the least, especially since he was caught in numerous mistatements himself..remember `Christmas in Cambodia?'
And it's odd that you mention John McCain and Kerry inthe same post...since Kerry willingly gave the enemy something McCain refused to let them have even under torture.
We'll hav eto disagree on that one,I suppose...
All Best,
FF

that's a laxative isn't it????
In fairness, I think Spence Abraham is just an advisor, not the new campaign manager... but somehow he managed to get labelled as such by the media. Not that I would want to see Abraham even as an advisor, but let's not get too carried away here.
I don't remember Hillary getting this much grief for once hiring Newt Gingrich as an advisor.
Watcher is correct!
The campaign manager is Randy Enwright from Florida, not Spencer Abraham. I think Gates of Vienna was in a bit of a hurry when doing this story, and now the mentally herded media has latched onto the falsehoods.
Abraham is merely an advisor and an "ambassador" to Washington.
Remember what Reagan said, "Thou shalt not speak ill of another Republican."
He could've included "or lie about, either!"
Hi Watcher, Matt,
Thanks for dropping by.
In the first place, I'm familiar with Spencer Abraham from way back...and my info that he was named Thompson's campaign manager came from Michelle Malkin and Debbie Schlussel...not G o V.
In the second place, I stand 100% by what I've written. In view of Thompson's public stance, having an Islamist tool like Spencer Abraham involved at a high level in his campaign is either really poor judgment,or gross hypocrisy...even if he doesn''t have the title of `campaign manager.'
There's no third option.
And as far as Reagan's famous quote, here's another: `Principles mean something'..and one more...`facts are stubborn things.'
The facts on Abraham are exactly as written..and if Thompson wants to be involved with someone like this, guess what? I ain't with Fred. And a lot of other people will have the same view.
We already got fooled once by the current occupant of the White House, and I don't think we need to go down that road again. Now how's that for speaking ill?
Thanks again for dropping by and weighing in.
Okay, here is where Michelle Malkin got the story from: http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-na-apthompsonstaff24jul24,1,5277720.story?coll=la-politics-campaign&ctrack=1&cset=true
It states that both Enright and Abraham are replacing former campaign manager Callamore. Enright will manage the political operation, while Abraham does not yet have a title.
The headlines by Malkin and G.O.V. are inflated, as are the subsequent relaying of stories.
I am not saying that the news that Abraham joining the campaign isn't troubling. But insiders tell me that Abraham will merely be an advisor and not a manager of anything.
Let's see how this pans out.
Thank you for your response and information.
It matters more to me that it's the fact that Abraham is getting appointed to be part of the campaign rather than exactly which post he is going to hold within the campaign team. By allowing him to be part of such an important rallying campaign, Thompson is indirectly entitling him with a certain degree of credibility and trust - which in all probability is most undeserved, misrepresenting him as anything other than an Islamist tool.
If this appointment goes through, the Islamists and apologists at CAIR and other dhimmified institutions will be further convinced that their actions and rhetoric, however vitriolic and treasonous, will have absolutely zero impact on their public reputations, chances of employability and promotion - and they will be emboldened to continue to up the ante.
Meanwhile, concerned Americans who recognise the multi-dimensional threat that CAIR and the jihadists pose will be disheartened to see that potential presidential candidates who are supposed to look out for the best interests of the nation are actually willing to condone the views and allegiances of men who have sided with the enemy.
Again, it is the very act of appointing Abraham, not whether he is campaign manager, advisor or coffee boy that is disturbing.
We can only hope that Thompson made a rash decision without checking into Abraham, and he will fire him. Otherwise, this is not good. Some readers suggested that Fred might have his reasons for wanting advice from someone with Abraham's past.
But the perception of what Abraham stands for is out in the public now. Fred needs to do something.
On Hillary, didn't I read that she hired a representative of La Raza as someone high up in her campaign?
