Why `Land for Peace' is Suicidal

My good friend Carl in Jerusalem at Israel Matzav has a variation on the old ` a picture is worth a thousand words' theme in this piece that illustrates graphically why ethnically cleansing Jews from `settlements' and giving strategic areas to Israel's murderous enemies is, well...suicidal.

This picture was taken from a hilltop town in Samaria (The Northern West Bank) called Homesh, from which Jews were expelled by the Israeli government in 2005 as part of the retreat and ethnic cleansing `disengagement'.

The smokestacks you see are from the power plant in the Israeli city of Hadera, which is within Israel's supposedly uncontested pre `67 borders. You might also notice the coastline...Hadera is on the Mediterranean, which will give you an idea of how narrow and vulnerable Israel is at this point.

As Carl reminds us, Hadera was hit by rockets from Tyre during the Lebanon War, which is something like seven or eight times further away than Homesh.

Imagine that you're a member of Hamas, or al-Aksa,or any of Israel's other genocidal enemies sitting on that hill with a rocket launcher at the ready and draw your own conclusions about `two states living in peace next to one another.'

Somehow, I have a feeling that the American and European ideologues who continue to mouth that nonsense might think twice if it were their homes and families within easy range of that hilltop.
