Milo Yiannopoulos: Once Again, 'Conservatives' Destroy Their Own

 


Milo Yiannopoulos has emerged as one of the Right's most effective spokespeople. He was willing to literally risk his personal safety to journey into the belly of the beast, college campuses and slay the dragons of political correctness, militant second wave feminism, leftist fascism and denial of free speech. He went armed with a keen sense of facts, his hilarious campy gay delivery, a superb sense of humor and the courage to present the truth as he saw it no matter what. He literally made people who aren't usually exposed to non-prog-fascist views take a fresh look at things and change their minds

The Left literally had no defense against him but to use brute force to riot and shut him down.Until now. And as usual, it was so -called 'conservatives' that happily provided the ammo.

 
Ready, aim, fire!

Some Twitter cretins who call themselves 'the Reagan Patrol' unearthed an old video where Milo talked about how coming of age consensual relationships between teen homosexuals of the age of consent and older gays could help them cope with their sexual orientation and deal with things they couldn't discuss at home. He was talking about people in their late teens (in the UK the age of consent is 15, and it's 16 in much of the U.S) but unfortunately used the term 'boys.'  So they were able to use that to frame him as supporting pedophilia.

Milo attempted to explain that he was a sexual abuse victim as a young man of thirteen himself,that he regretted the use of the word 'boys' and that he did NOT support pedophilia.







He certainly had that right. Not only is he an avid Trump supporter, but his success excited envy. So the idiot  'conservatives' had to take him down and went to town with this.

They got Milo disinvited from a speaking engagement from CPAC, and cost him a publishing deal for his upcoming book 'Dangerous' was cancelled by Simon & Schuster.

Today, Milo resigned from his job with Breitbart. Here's what he had to say about it:

This is exactly why 'conservatism' has accomplished so little in the last thirty years and why the entire brand is rotted to the core. When someone on the Left is found to have been involved in scandal, a sexual predator, a liar or guilty of a crime, the Left don't demonize their own...they circle the wagons around them. Sometimes, they even elect them president or stop them from being impeached. As just one example, an actual self-confessed pedophile like Lena Dunham remains in their good graces. It's conservatives who take delight in the circular fire squad, and Milo Yiannopoulos is hardly the first person to experience this.

Milo says he's going to soldier on, and with his gifts, his courage and his spirit I'm not worried about him. He can self publish his book, put together his own internet platform, even book his own tours. But the Left now has a weapon to use against him they didn't have before to delegitimize him, courtesy of the 'Reagan patrol' and like minded 'conservatives.' Talk about irony...President Reagan was known for his sympathy and tolerance for homosexuals, and he famously said that the 11th commandment is that you don't speak ill of your own.

This kind of stupid is exactly why I haven't considered myself a 'conservative' for some time. I have no desire to be lumped together with a bunch of self destructive fools.

Nine Conservative GOP Congress Members Start a 'Freedom Caucus'

Now this is interesting, and something I've said needs doing for a long time:

“The House Freedom Caucus gives a voice to countless Americans who feel that Washington does not represent them. We support open, accountable and limited government, the Constitution and the rule of law, and policies that promote the liberty, safety and prosperity of all Americans,” the caucus’s mission statement reads.

The founding members include Republican Reps. Scott Garrett of New Jersey, Jim Jordan of Ohio, John Fleming of Louisiana, Matt Salmon of Arizona, Justin Amash of Michigan, Raúl Labrador of Idaho, Mick Mulvaney of South Carolina, Ron DeSantis of Florida and Mark Meadows of North Carolina.

The group will serve as a policy alternative to the Republican Study Committee, the decades-old conservative group that lobbies GOP leadership to push legislation rightward. While some of the Freedom Caucus members will leave the RSC, which has been criticized by some members for growing too large, lawmakers are able to be active members of both groups.

The Freedom Caucus will be an invite-only group, and members involved with the planning said they will invite around 30 lawmakers to join. If the caucus can boast a 29-person membership, it would be in a position to block Republican legislation that members don’t support.

Obama's IRS Still In Action - Against 'Political Enemies'

 

In spite of IRS-Gate, the hunting season on conservative groups is still open, as two of the latest targets show.

Hollywood is overwhelmingly Leftist and Democrat, at least publicly. That's especially true of th epeopl eon the lower rungs of the ladder or who are not established yet, as it's well known that being a Republican or espousing conservative beliefs is a sure way not to get hired.

But there is a small group in Hollywood known as Friends of Abe, a group for conservatives in the entertainment industry. Aside from people who are already established or outed themselves like actors Gary Sinise, Jon Voight and Kelsey Grammer, or the writer-producer Lionel Chetwynd, most of the membership remains secret for the above reasons.

The group recently applied for 501(c)(3) nonprofit status to the IRS, to assist their fundraising. Big mistake, according to the New York Times.

Not only was their application held up far longer than similar Leftist groups, but the IRS launched a formal investigation of the group, demanding “detailed information about its meetings”, a list of members and “enhanced access to the website" which also would reveal members names and personal details about them.According to the Times, the investigation is due to "guests who speak to the group who tend to be conservative."

Friends of Abe doesn't even permit cameras at its meetings, so you can bet the Obama Administration is salivating at the idea of outing the 1,500 or so members.And it's not just audits from the IRS for 'incorrect thought'.

Here's how it works in real life. Actress Maria Conchita Alonso, best known for her role in “Moscow on the Hudson,” had been hired to appear in a Spanish language version of Eve Ensler’s “The Vagina Monologues” in San Francisco - until she made a campaign ad with a conservative California candidate for governor, Tim Donnelly.

She was immediately fired.

Various pro-Amnestia groups threatened to protest the show if she appeared and complainedabout 'raa-aa-cism' even though Alonso is of Cuban descent and Donnelly is married to a Filipina, with a Mexican daughter-in-law.The producer was quoted as saying “We really cannot have her in the show, unfortunately. Of course she has the right to say whatever she wants. But we’re in the middle of the Mission. Doing what she is doing is against what we believe.”

And this is by no means an isolated incident. For instance, conservative-themed films and documentaries routinely have difficulty getting booked at film festivals.

Meanwhile, far-Left groups with 501(c)(3) groups like producer Norman Lear's People For the American Way received and enjoy tax exempt status even though their programs, fund raising and activities are blatantly political. And then there's the blatantly political offerings of theater companies, performance groups and independent filmmakers who also enjoy 501(c)(3) status..and we haven even discussed NPR or Pacifica yet.

The next time you hear Lefties whining about 'McCarthyism', be sure to laugh in their faces. They're the real practitioners of the blacklist mentality they're describing. We really need a good term to describe how the Left wages jihad against those it disagrees with. I like Left wing Stalinist thought control myself.

But wait, there's more. Another famous conservative who has run afoul of the president's IRS goon squad is none other than James O'Keefe and Project Veritas, who brought down ACORN, exposed NPR and Planned Parenthood, union teachers at play in New Jersey and most recently, Wendy Davis' radical supporters bashing her political opponent for being disabled.

As O'Keefe reports, this is a double team effort by both the IRS and Governor 'We don;t want no conservative here' Cuomo, who has unleashed the state's Labor Department on the organization.

According to O'Keefe, Cuomo has been targeting Project Veritas for months now:

Despite the fact that Project Veritas’s finances are meticulously maintained to the penny, Governor Cuomo and the New York Department of Labor is on a witch-hunt, demanding all documents and financials since our founding.

This is nothing more than meritless, politically-driven targeting. Governor Cuomo said it himself – we don’t belong in New York.

Still, we complied with the government and prepared all the requested documentation for a meeting scheduled on December 13, 2013.

But guess what? The New York Department of Labor’s compliance officers never showed up.

That’s because they know we’ve done nothing wrong. Just like the IRS, they are simply intimidating and targeting us.

Now we are being subpoenaed and I must show up in court with accountants and attorneys to prove we’ve done nothing wrong.

Ah, but doing nothing wrong is no longer a defense. Not in Obama's America.

A Huge 2nd Amendment Victory In Colorado

 

Gun confiscation advocates suffered a huge loss in Colorado, where they had managed to shove through anti Second Amendment laws based on federal legislation that failed in Congress.

Recall movements were launched against four Democrat state senators who pushed the measures through.

Not much credence was given to the recall movements because Colorado was thought to have become a Blue state and the legislators in question were all in solidly Democrat districts. But not only did the recalls succeed on two of them, Colorado Senate President John Morse and state Sen. Angela Giron, but the recall elections put solidly pro Second Amendment Republicans in their seats.

There are several far reaching things to consider here, aside from the fact that the laws will likely be repealed, and gun grabbing politicians will now be a lot less likely to support this kind of legislation in most of the country.

The anti-gun forces outspent pro Second Amendment advocates by six to one, and there was little if any help coming from the Republican National Committee, as usual. The victories were entirely due to grassroots efforts, and both wins were in districts that were thought to be solidly Democrat. And they definitely are.

 According to calculations from DailyKos Elections, Barack Obama bested Mitt Romney by 58 percent to 39 percent in Giron’s district, which consists of the city of Pueblo and its suburbs (and a few rural areas). Morse’s district, which covers downtown Colorado Springs and some nearby towns, was even more Democratic, voting 59 percent to 38 percent for Obama. Further calculations by Daily Kos Election results show that this is the typical Democratic performance in these districts.

Even more interesting, Giron, who was considered a rising star among Colorado Democrats and a possible future candidate for governor comes from a district that is predominantly  Hispanic. She got tossed out decisively, which brings me to another point I've mentioned more than once - gun grabbing laws disproportionately affect blacks and Hispanics who live in urban areas and have to live with the real life results of the diktats of  the elites  when it comes to  defending their lives, their families  and their property. Turnout was relatively high for off year elections.

There's an important lesson here.

Democrat incumbents almost never lose in districts gerrymandered to keep them in office unless they have done something that really rubs voters the wrong way. And certainly not by 12 points.

What happened here is that grassroots activists took the issue directly to the voters, door to door and house to house. This is particularly important in Giron's district, where the appeal wasn't based on ethnic pandering but on an issue that cuts across the sort of balkanized special interest groups Democrats love to exploit. The same thing can be done with ObamaCare, school choice, and a hoist of other bread and butter issues.

Is the Republican establishment paying attention? Are they learning anything? I doubt it, but you never know.

Rand Paul Wins As Democrats Retreat!!

Senator Rand Paul, with help from Senators Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Mike Lee and Democrat Ron Wyden kept the filibuster against prospective CIA head John Brennan going for 13 hours:

After years in the shadows, the administration’s secret drone program burst into very public view Wednesday with lawmakers grilling the attorney general over legal justification for targeted killings and Sen. Rand Paul launching an old-style one-man filibuster to demand answers from President Obama.

The Kentucky Republican held the floor for almost 13 hours, effectively blocking a vote on the nomination of John O. Brennan, whom Mr. Obama has tapped to be CIA director. He said he would relent only if the administration publicly vowed not to target Americans on U.S. soil.

The Obama Administration didn't concede, but the Democrats were forced to delay the vote until tomorrow, and maybe even the weekend, depending on whether there's another filibuster.

Many of you may not realize how important this is. Since January of 2009, when President Obama and a veto proof Democrat majority in both Houses took over, they've trampled the Constitution and U.S. laws with impunity. They've changed long established congressional rules and procedures at their whim, and by and large they've gotten away with it.

Finally, someone told them no. Finally, at long last, someone said no, we're not going to allow you to shred the Constitution. Finally, someone stood up to them and exposed their lawless behavior for anyone who had eyes to see. And it wasn't the GOP establishment, but some Tea Party GOP senators the GOP establishment went out of its way to defeat, together with one Democrat who apparently still understands what the Constitution says and values it over the leftist agenda.

No matter how this ends up, it's a watershed, a turning point.It's a signpost to where the real future of liberty and our Republic lies.

Not with the Leftist ideologue in the White House, his serial prevaricator of an attorney general and their enablers and not with the Republican establishment. it lies with men and women who still value what it means to live in a free country and are willing in the old language that came down to us from our Founders to pledge their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to save and preserve it.

That's where the future of our Republic lies. And that's where hope lies for and our posterity.

Rand Paul To Filibuster on Drones: "I will not let Obama shred the Constitution"

After receiving Attorney General Eric Holder's letter refusing to rule out the use of drones on American citizens within U.S. borders without due process, Senator Rand Paul has decided to mount a one man, old school filibuster.

“I will speak until I can no longer speak,” Paul said. “I will speak as long as it takes, until the alarm is sounded from coast to coast that our Constitution is important, that your rights to trial by jury are precious, that no American should be killed by a drone on American soil without first being charged with a crime, without first being found to be guilty by a court.”

Paul called Holder’s refusal to rule out drone strikes within the United States “more than frightening.”

On Wednesday, Paul elaborated on his concerns: “When I asked the president, can you kill an American on American soil, it should have been an easy answer. It’s an easy question. It should have been a resounding an unequivocal, ‘No.’ The president’s response? He hasn’t killed anyone yet. We’re supposed to be comforted by that. The president says, ‘I haven’t killed anyone yet.’ He goes on to say, ‘And I have no intention of killing Americans. But I might.’ Is that enough? Are we satisfied by that?”

Paul said on the Senate floor, “No American should ever be killed in their house without warrant and some kind of aggressive behavior by them. To be bombed in your sleep? There’s nothing American about that . . . [Obama] says trust him because he hasn’t done it yet. He says he doesn’t intend to do so, but he might. Mr. President, that’s not good enough . . . so I’ve come here to speak for as long as I can to draw attention to something that I find to really be very disturbing.”

“I will not sit quietly and let him shred the Constitution,” Paul added.”No person will be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process,” he said, quoting the Fifth Amendment.

Full on old school filibusters are extremely rare in Washington, but legal. Any Senator can hold the floor for as long as he or she likes, according to the rules, but filibusters are usually done by legislative mechanisms rather than by physically holding the floor.

The record? The Palmetto State's own Strom Thurmond holds it, filibustering as a Dixiecrat for for 24 hours and 18 minutes against the Civil Rights Act of 1957, according to U.S. Senate records. Of course, he had help from his fellow Democrats, who managed to keep things going for 57 days, filibustering between March 26 and June 19, the day the Civil Rights Act of 1957 passed.

A close second place is held by one of my favorite Senators of all time, New York's Alfonse D'Amato. He spoke for 23 hours and 30 minutes to stall debate on an important military bill in 1986 that contained an amendment that would have cut off funding for a jet training plane built by a company headquartered in his home state.

The amendment was removed.

It will be interesting to see how Rand Paul does. If it were me, I'd be reading whole sections of William L.Shirer's "Rise and Fall of The Third Reich" aloud, particularly the parts of about hiow Hitler was democratically elected, and the parts about the 'emergency' of the Reichstag Fire that enabled him to shred the German Constitution and take full power.

You go, Senator. Let 'em have it. And let's see if any other Republicans have the gonads to help you out on this one.

Todd Akin Being Hammered By GOP To Quit Missouri Senate Race

After his remarks that 'legitimate rape rarely results in pregnancy.', Rep. Todd Akin, the GOP nominee for the Missouri Senate race is resisting calls from all sides in the Republican party to withdraw.

"I am in this race to win. We need a conservative Senate," Akin tweeted Monday afternoon, as he solicited new donations. He also told Fox News' Sean Hannity on his radio show that "we're going to stay in."

The tweet followed scattered and unconfirmed reports that Akin was moving to withdraw from the race. Akin, though, rejected those claims publicly even as Republican leaders leaned on him hard to reconsider his bid for Senate.

A source within the National Republican Senatorial Committee told Fox News that Sen. John Cornyn, head of the Senate GOP campaign arm, already has told Akin that if he stays in the race, the $5 million set aside for the Missouri race will be withdrawn. Cornyn, according to the source, told him the party is concerned his presence in the race could imperil Republicans' chances of winning the Senate majority. {...}

Adding to the wave of condemnation, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell called his comments "totally inexcusable."

"What he said is just flat wrong in addition to being wildly offensive to any victim of sexual abuse," McConnell said. "Although Representative Akin has apologized, I believe he should take time with his family to consider whether this statement will prevent him from effectively representing our party in this critical election."

Several other GOP Senate candidates were also putting serious distance between their campaigns and his, as they tried to head off Democratic efforts to link Akin's comments to other members of the party.

GOP Sen. Scott Brown, who's in a tough race against President Obama ally Elizabeth Warren in Massachusetts, tweeted that he found Akin's remarks to be "outrageous."

He followed up with a written statement calling on Akin to bow out.

"As a husband and father of two young women, I found Todd Akin's comments about women and rape outrageous, inappropriate and wrong," Brown said. "There is no place in our public discourse for this type of offensive thinking. Not only should he apologize, but I believe Rep. Akin's statement was so far out of bounds that he should resign the nomination for U.S. Senate in Missouri."

Further, NRSC Chairman Cornyn used a brief written statement to nudge Akin to reconsider his bid for Senate.

"Congressman Akin's statements were wrong, offensive, and indefensible," Cornyn, R-Texas, said in a statement. "I recognize that this is a difficult time for him, but over the next twenty-four hours, Congressman Akin should carefully consider what is best for him, his family, the Republican Party, and the values that he cares about and has fought for throughout his career in public service."

GOP Presidential candidate Mitt Romney also weighed in, as did a number of other Republicans. "Congressman Akin's comments on rape are insulting, inexcusable, and, frankly, wrong," Romney said in an interview with the National Review.

And the Crossroads PAC, which had $2 million in ads scheduled to run in Missouri for Akin has cancelled them.

Akin has already tried walking this back, saying he 'misspoke' but it's hard to put toothpaste of this kind back in the tube.

Congressman Todd Akin is right...we do need a conservative senate. What we don't need is a stupid one.Nor do we need another careerist who puts his own ambition before what's good for the conservative cause he claims to believe in.

This is a test of character for Mr. Akin. He's obviously not ready for prime time. And he needs to withdraw from the race....now.

I also note the difference between the majority of Republicans and Democrats when one of their own does something wrong and makes an asinine statement.Like say, Joe Biden.

Sen. DeMint: Law of the Sea Treaty ' Dead' in the Senate

Yet another UN based 'treaty that would have eroded American sovereignty is reportedly dead in the Senate, according to the usually reliable Jim DeMint(R-SC):


“4 additional senators have joined in opposition to LOST, including Mike Johanns (R-NE), Kelly Ayotte (R-NH), Rob Portman (R-OH) and Johnny Isakson (R-GA). With 34 senators against the misguided treaty, LOST will not be ratified by the Senate this year,” Sen. Jim DeMint, South Carolina Republican, said in a statement on his website.

The appropriately acronymed LOST would subordinate America to an unelected international body of bureaucrats, require U.S. businesses to pay a 'royalty' for exploiting our own resources and put the U.S. at the mercy of vague and onerous environmental regulations put into the treaty by the usual environmental wackos with their eyes on America's wallet.

President Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Senator John Kerry, and Leon Panetta are all for this nonsense. That ought to tell you everything you need to know.

John Sununu Humiliates CNN ObamaBot Soledad O'Brien

Ahh, this is a good one.

Not that anyone watches CNN, but as surrogates for President Obama, they want absolutely nothing so much as to play along with the president's distraction strategy: "Jobs? The economy? Look, a squirrel!" Or in this case, "Look, Donald Trump, Romney supporter, is a birther! "

Crusty John Sunnunu has been around for awhile and won't have any of it, especially from a leftist airhead like Soledad O'Brien. I love the way he flat out asks her if she isn't ashamed to be following talking points to the letter she got from the campaign that morning.

If Mitt Romney has to answer for Donald Trump's support, what about Bill Maher's $1 mil contribution to Obama's campaign and his sleazy remarks about women? What about the fact that corrupt financier Jon Corzine, who 'lost' $ 1.2 billion of his company's investor funds is one of Obama's top bundlers?

What about racist and anti-Semite Al Sharpton, another of Obama's intimates who's spent considerable personal time with the president at the White House and is now out campaigning for him?

What about Jeremiah Wright, and his admitting on national television that he was paid $150,000 by Obama consigliere Ed Whitaker to keep his mouth shut and maintain a low profile during the 2008 campaign? A huge bribe on behalf of a president of the United States? Isn't it odd that the dinosaur media isn't following that story up? You know if it involved someone close to Mitt Romney it would be screaming page one headlines and the lead story for weeks.

Too much is known about Barack Obama this time out. If the Obama campaign wants to play in the dirt, there's going to be a lot more coming back their way than they can throw.

Soledad O'Brien mentions John McCain's conduct in 2008 as an example Romney ought to follow. Of course she would! McCain stupidly insisted on taking the high road to an absurd degree, and his reward was to get buried in slime and ridicule by Barack Obama and his media lackeys - everything from a bogus headline story about a supposed affair with a lobbyist to attacks on his family, nasty cracks about his age and even about his service related disability.

Not this time. The issues are going to be Obama's failures - on the economy, on energy, on jobs and on foreign policy. And if Obama's campaign wants to bring up side issues, let the games begin.

Sarah Palin Strikes Again As Deb Fischer Wins Nebraska Senate Primary

For those of you who thought ( or hoped) that Sarah Palin was history, well, like I told you, you have another think coming.

Last night, Palin endorsee Deb Fischer won an upset victory in the GOP senate primary in Nebraska. Since long time Democrat incumbent Ben Nelson is retiring, Fischer is the likely winner of the general election in the deep Red Cornhusker State.

“As recently as a week ago, Deb Fischer was dismissed by the establishment. Why? Because she is not part of the good old boys’ permanent political class,” Palin said in a Facebook post early Wednesday. “The message from the people of Nebraska is simple and powerful: America is looking for real change in Washington, and commonsense conservatives like Deb Fischer represent that change.”

Deb Fischer, a state senator and a mom who works part-time on her family farm seems made to order as one of Palin's Mama Grizzlies.

Just watch as the Arctic Fox and her PAC do exactly what they did in 2010 - hunt down the opposition and get Tea Party friendly conservatives into Congress.

Just as a point of reference, in 2010 Governor Palin's batting average for getting her picks into Congress was .784.

GOP Candidates Boycott Univision Presidential Debate Over Rubio Smear

US Spanish only channel Univision is holding a GOP presidential debate - but Herman Cain, Rick Perry, Jon Huntsman, Michele Bachmann and Mitt Romney will be giving it a miss.

The reason? Oh, nothing much. The five candidates are refusing to participate at the request of three Florida Hispanic Republican lawmakers who accused Univision of running a 'news' story about the 24-year-old drug bust of Senator Marco Rubio’s brother in law in retaliation because Rubio refused to do an interview on the show Al Punto, which supports amnesty for illegal aliens.

Univision of course is denying the attempted blackmail, and said in a statement that has called the allegations of a quid-pro-quo “absurd,” and said that the July story was reported fairly and accurately.

Yes, and of course the arrest of Rubio's brother in law back in 1987 when the Senator was 16 is a major story that merited two full days of extensive coverage.

Meanwhile Univision isn't covering the story of President Obama being photographed campaigning with Malik Shabazz, one of the members of the New Black Panther Party who was convicted of civil rights violations for "patrolling" a voting station in Philadelphia with a night stick. You might remember that one..the charges were dismissed right after Obama was elected over the career prosecutor's objections and after the conviction was made.

But then neither is much of the Dinosaur Media.You can only imagine what the coverage would be like if Michele Bachmann or Mitt Romney was caught campaigning with David Duke or with members of the Aryan Brotherhood.

Three of Rubio’s friends and political allies – U.S. Rep. David Rivera, state House leader Carlos Lopez-Cantera, and Miami-Dade Republican Chairman Erik Fresen – called Monday for the Univision boycott in a letter to the Republican National Committee and the campaigns.

“This attempt at extorting a respected Republican elected official like Senator Rubio, who is also a proud American of Hispanic descent, is offensive and unacceptable,” they wrote.

They called for Univision to apologize and to fire its news president, Isaac Lee, who was accused of offering the quid-pro-quo deal to Rubio. Lee has repeatedly denied the charge.

"We respectfully decline your request to issue a public apology or to request the resignation of our President of News, Mr. Isaac Lee. Lost in the inflammatory language being used by you is the that our story was truthfully and accurately reported," Univision said in a written statement issued before midnight Monday.

“More importantly, Univision takes exception to the false assertion that it attempted to ‘extort’ Senator Rubio in any way, shape or form,” the statement said. “At no point in time did anyone from Univision offer to kill or soften the story regarding Senator Rubio’s brother-in-law in exchange for appearing on any Univision news program."

You see, Marco Rubio made a mistake. He doesn't believe in demonizing illegal aliens, but he doesn't believe in amnesty for them either and that didn't sit well with the people in charge over at Univision because he's a high profile politician who might very well get offered the vice presidential nomination...and as *gasp* a conservative Republican. Dios Mio!

Not only do the GOP candidates gets props for standing on principle and doing the right thing, they're also not losing anything. Both NBC and Telemundo will be airing GOP presidential debates in Spanish, and Spanish speaking voters will ample opportunity to see those debates.

Sarah Palin On Crony Capitalism

Plain speaking from Governor Sarah Palin on the unholy alliance between well-connected businessmen, campaign contributions and corrupt politicians..on both sides of the aisle.

This is an issue Governor Palin is uniquely qualified to talk about, since she's been on the front lines of this issue for a long time, first as a member of the energy board in her home state and later in the governor's chair in Juneau. In both places, she took on the established and corrupt Old Boy network intent of doing business as usual on the taxpayer's dime and won.

In my recent speech in Iowa, some eyebrows were raised when I took on our government’s enormous economic problems caused by crony capitalism. As if on cue, just days later President Obama selected someone who exemplifies a major crony capitalism problem to sit next to the First Lady when he delivered his “jobs plan” speech before Congress. He selected General Electric CEO Jeffrey Immelt as his honored guest.

Having grown up with great respect for GE thanks to stories my grandfather shared with us about his days working for the company and even meeting GE spokesman-at-the-time Ronald Reagan during a company event, I am saddened at GE’s leadership evolution. This corporation is now the poster child of corporate welfare and crony capitalism.

This icon of American industry is a company full of good employees who make some good products (and is the parent company of a huge media outlet), but GE is also a large American corporation that pays virtually no corporate income taxes despite earning worldwide profits of $14.2 billion last year, $5.1 billion of it in the United States. In fact, they claimed a tax benefit of $3.2 billion, meaning they received more of our hard earned tax dollars than they contributed. How is that possible? It’s because not only do they shelter their money from taxes, but they also get many tax credits, loans, government grants, and other benefits from the federal government that our smaller businesses couldn’t even imagine being able to profit from.

Joining GE in the pantheon of crony capitalism is another Obama favorite that has been in the news of late: Solyndra. The President hailed this “green energy” company in a speech last May as “the true engine of economic growth.” When he announced the $535 million guarantee to Solyndra, Vice President Biden said that investments like this are “exactly what the Recovery Act is all about.” (Dear God…If the failed Solyndra venture has been what it’s “all about,” then that explains a lot.) As I pointed out in my speech at the Reagan Ranch Center last February: “History has proven again and again, when government picks the winners and losers, we’re stuck with the losers, and we the taxpayers subsidize failure!” And that’s what we’re seeing now, as the FBI raids the solar energy company’s headquarters to glean more information after the company was handed half a billion dollars in “green energy” Stimulus funds from the American taxpayer only to later declare bankruptcy. More than one thousand Solyndra workers lost their jobs. Now as the truth comes out, we discover that the White House was heavily involved in the Department of Energy’s rushed decision to give the Stimulus funds to Solyndra, and they tried to move the money through so quickly they seem to have ignored concerns that the company was not viable. Why would they do this? Perhaps it’s because a large investor in the company (about 35%) is Obama campaign bundler George Kaiser. And with the way the deal is structured, Kaiser will get his debts paid before we the taxpayers see any relief. That is sickening. And that’s how it works: workers lose their jobs, wealthy political cronies stand a good chance of getting their money back, and the U.S. taxpayer gets the shaft. Again.

President Obama has his sights set on raising $1 billion for his reelection campaign. Raising that money won’t be easy. But if you can hand out other people’s money to friends, it must get a whole lot easier. This crony capitalism and government waste is at the heart of our economic problems. It will destroy us if we don’t root it out. It’s not just a Democrat problem or a Republican problem. It’s a problem of our permanent political class. This won’t stop until “we the people” say enough is enough, and we retire the permanent political class that votes for this.

How Should Much Should Conservatives Slime GOP Primary Candidates ?

My good friend Bookworm has a post today that explores a vital question...how far should conservatives go when it comes to attacking GOP primary candidates?

As she points out:

As the primary season heats up, here’s a good question to ask: If we want to end the primary season with a viable political candidate to face off against Barack Obama, are there limits limits to the nature of the attacks that bloggers launch against the Republican candidates during this primary season?

My take is that it is very important for us to learn as many facts as possible about the candidates, whether we’re learning good things or bad. However, I’m not yet ready to leap up and castigate any candidate as the devil incarnate. (Even Ron Paul, whom I would not like to see win, can be challenged through facts, not hyperbolic insults.)

As we learned in 2008, there are no perfect Republican candidates. Unfortunately, the other lesson we’ve learned in the last 2.5 years is that Obama is a perfectly scary Democrat president/candidate. This means that, when the Republican primary ends, we need the last Republican candidate still standing to have the strength to face off against Obama. If we inflict too many wounds against our own people, the primary winner may be so weakened, s/he cannot win the final, presidential battle. Further, if s/he’s bleeding badly from the ideological wounds we inflict, Independents will shy away, as they will almost certainly be incapable of discerning between the wounds inflicted during internecine conflict from the type of fatal flaws that spell death at the presidential polls.

As of today, I can easily say yucky things about every one of the Republicans now seeking office (especially Ron Paul):

(1) Michele Bachmann has no more executive experience than Obama did at this stage in the game, and we all rightly predicted that he was grossly unprepared for high executive office;

(2) Paul Ryan, should he weigh in, will also lack that experience, plus he’s got a geeky quality that might not play well in the media;

(3) Mitt Romney has the RomneyCare albatross and all the charm (and good looks) of a Ken doll;

(4) Ron Paul takes libertarianism to an inhuman extreme that includes jettisoning the nation of Israel and supporting Iran’s quest for nuclear arms;

(5) Rick Perry tried to strong-arm Gardasil, whether because of fear of cancer, ties with Merck, power lust, or something else, plus he’s kind of smarmy;

(6) Chris Christie, should he weigh in, has sharia ties, offends people with his outspokeness, and will have to fight the fat-taboo that governs in America.

While I certainly concur, my own take on this is somewhat different.

Today in Memeorandum, the first 13 stories are anti-Perry pieces and the next 3 are anti Bachmann pieces, put out by outlets like the NYT, CNN and what I'll call the Soros media ( Think progress, Steve Benen in the Washington Monthly, Right Wing Watch, etc.). This stuff is being co-ordinated from the White House and it's going to be like that for the next 14 months.

As far as I'm concerned, the three major candidates, Perry , Bachmann and Romney all have their flaws ( none of the others have a shot at getting the nomination) but the next election isn't going to be about them. It's going to be about the presidency of Barack Hussein Obama. That's why anyone who gets the nomination or looks like they might is going to be demonized. As I've said in print before, if the GOP ran Daffy Duck as the nominee, I'd probably vote for him over Obama.

2008 isn't really a good example, since we ended up with a candidate whose relationship with most of his own party was largely one of mutual and intense dislike and whom ran one of the most inept campaigns in modern memory, awash with self-inflicted wounds. The only reason John McCain even managed to get within six points of a qualifications challenged candidate like Barack Obama was his gritting his teeth and picking Sarah Palin as his running mate.

Yes, we ought to vet the candidates, but our chief task, as I see it, is getting this sorry excuse for a president and a man out of the White House, retaining the House and taking the Senate with a conservative majority.

In terms of executive experience, all three major candidates could be slimed a bit - Romney accomplished little except RomneyCare, Rick Perry was governor of the weakest executive branch in the 50 states and had comparatively little decision making power, and Michelle Bachmann has never run a government entity. In fact, Governor Palin or Rudy Giuliani would be the strongest choices if we're looking for a record of executive experience and accomplishment, and neither is in the race yet.

But each of the three have at least accomplished things in life outside of government and run something. To me the central issue is the quality of their instincts and their moral character, because the rest you can hire out. That's what we ought to be focused on, in my opinion.

Character is what kicks in when you're called on to make the tough decisions. And that's a major part of the equation of leadership, something this country has been literally starved of for a long time.

Why The Boehner Bill Should Die - And Quickly

I had a piece I've been toying with about why the Boehner bill ought to deep sixed, and I get about half way done with it when I found out that Rush beat me to it, and quite eloquently.

To summarize, (a) it's obvious that Democrat Majority Leader Harry Reid has no plan, as I pointed out yesterday. (b) The president is absolutely clueless and disengaged and (c) the Democrats want a default for political reasons and will use it to avoid paying our military or issuing social security checks to bash the Republicans unless they get the massive tax increases they want.

What El Rushbo did was to take it a step further, as he often does. Since the Democrats have no plan, what Reid will do is take Boehner's plan once the House votes on it, gut it and tweak it get what they want, pass it in the Democrat majority Senate and then claim the GOP are 'obstructionist' if they fail to go along. The Boehner Bill, highly edited and warped, will become the Reid bill!

Simply brilliant, in all it's perfidy.

Rush Limbaugh has a long transcript up on this, which is a must-read. On th eplus side, I know Boehner checks in with Limbaugh and so do some other members of the GOP, so hopefully they'll just let the Boehner bill die. Voting has already been postponed again on it.

Boehner should simply declare Cut, Cap and Balance was best House offer, and that it's now up to President Obama to submit HIS plan for a vote. Call their bluff.

It would be nice if we were dealing with people who would put the country's welfare ahead of their political agenda and lust for power. We're not.

Obama's Shameful Debt Crisis

As members of Congress race to try and beat the August 2nd deadline, the chief obstacle is proving to be none other than President Barack Obama. After having spent the country into near bankruptcy and avoided the whole subject for most of his presidency,it's obvious that he now seeks to make politics out of this situation, regardless of the cost to the country.

The president gave a press conference late Friday at around 6PM local time, and informed a servile press that Speaker John Boehner had called a half hour ago and informed him he was 'walking out of negotiations'. The president, not to put to fine a point on it, was simply lying. As I pointed out earlier that day, the reason for the so-called walk out was that President Obama had crafted a deal with the Speaker that would have allowed the raise in the debt ceiling the president wants, cut spending by up to $3.5 trillion over the next 10 years and increased tax revenues by $800 billion, largely by reforming the tax code. Cantor and Boehner were prepared to accept that as a compromise.

The president flat out 'misstated when he said, “You had a bipartisan group of senators, including Republicans who are in leadership in the Senate calling for what effectively was about $2 trillion above the Republican baseline that they've been working off of. What we said was give us $1.2 trillion in additional revenues.”

The White House and the House Republicans had already agreed to accept $800 billion in new revenues, AKA tax increases. The talks broke down when the deal was almost completed and President Obama demanded an additional $400 billion in tax increases - a 50% upping of the ante he knew the House Republicans weren't going to accept.

Boehner had exactly right in his own press conference. “The White House moved the goalpost. There was an agreement, some additional revenues, until yesterday, when the president demanded $400 billion more, which was going to be nothing more than a tax increase on the American people.”

In other words, the current occupant of the White House deliberately torpedoed a deal to solve this problem at the last minute, one he'd already agreed to.

As Boehner put it in his letter to the House Republicans, explaining his decision to pull out of the talks:

"It has become evident that the White House is not serious about ending the spending binge that is destroying jobs and endangering our children's future. A deal was never reached, and was never really close."

"The president is emphatic that taxes have to be raised. ... The president is emphatic that we cannot make fundamental changes to our entitlement programs....For these reasons, I have decided to end discussions with the White House and begin conversations with the leaders in the Senate in an effort to find a path forward."

If an e-mail from Jennifer's Rubin's inside source is correct, Boehner was able to exactly that over the weekend..until President Obama once again quashed it:

“The Speaker, Sen. Reid and Sen. McConnell all agreed on the general framework of a two-part plan. A short-term increase (with cuts greater than the increase), combined with a committee to find long-term savings before the rest of the increase would be considered. Sen. Reid took the bipartisan plan to the White House and the President said no.”

At that point, during a short meeting on Saturday, Speaker Boehner reportedly told the president, “Congress writes the laws and you get to decide what you want to sign.”

Let's recap briefly here. The House Republicans and every Republican in the Senate have voted for one fix, cut cap and balance' that would not only have solve the immediate problem but put the country on the road to fiscal responsibility. The president said he would veto it, and the Senate Democrats voted it down in a straight party line vote.

Speaker Boehner and Majority leader Eric Cantor then went to the president and worked out a compromise bill that the House Republicans agreed would be acceptable and the White House agreed to - only to have the president deliberately destroy it at the last minute by asking for $400 billion in additional tax increases.

And now, we apparently have a bipartisan bill crafted over the weekend by Speaker Boehner, Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, only to have the president again refuse to accept it.

This should make clear that every time the president refers to 'Republican obstructionism' or comes up with cute quotes about how the Republicans don't know the meaning of yes, he's simply lying on a grand scale.

It's pretty obvious where the president is going on this one. This entire masquerade is being played out because he either wants the debt ceiling raised with no concessions on his part so it looks like a political victory for him or a government shutdown, during which he'll deliberately refuse to prioritize spending so he can make political fodder and talking points while those Social Security checks, military paychecks and Medicare payments don't go out and the American people suffer to make sacrifices at his altar.

It's simply despicable that he's doing it, disgraceful that his own party is enabling him and especially obscene that the mainstream press is pretty much giving him a pass on it.

What we have here is a president who puts his ego, his self-aggrandizement and his political agenda above the good of the country to a degree never before seen in our history. He is simply unworthy of his office.

Rep. Joe Walsh Spanks Chris Matthews: 'Obama Doesn’t Send A Thrill Up My Leg’

A must-see cage match. Rep. Joe Walsh went on MessNBC to discuss the House's "cut, cap and balance" legislation ( note the cute MSNBC graphic, 'cut, cap and decieve') and when Chris Matthews attempted his usual bullying tactics, he got slapped down brutally by Walsh, who's no weakling.

One thing Walsh could have reminded Matthews is that the 'Gang of Six' plan he and Obama are touting is that there are no specific cuts in it either, especially in the first bill, which as I pointed out is the only one likely to get passed.

Democrat Governor Caves; Will Accept GOP Budget To End Shutdown In Minnesota

Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton, a Democrat, sent a letter today to GOP House Speaker Kurt Zellers and Senate Majority Leader Amy Koch saying he "reluctantly" agrees to accept the Republican budget proposal from June 30 to end the current state government's shutdown.

“Despite my serious reservations about your plan, I have concluded that continuing the state government shutdown would be even more destructive for too many Minnesotans,” Dayton wrote in the letter. “Therefore, I am willing to agree to something I do not agree with – your proposal – in order to spare our citizens and our state from further damage.”

Minnesota's situation is similar to neighboring Wisconsin's. It's been a Blue State with a compliant Democrat-dominated legislature for years, and spending and the public employee unions have run wild.In the last election, Republicans took control of the state legislature and demanded that Minnesota get its fiscal house in order. They were opposed tooth and nail by Governor Dayton, who simply dug his heels in and refused to sign the budget they presented to him. So the government shut down.

Essential services were maintained, but other things that impacted the daily lives of Minnesotans weren't. Beer, for instance, was affected when the state government ordered MillerCoors to pull its product off shelves because they had overpaid for a state license renewal by $200, and by the time a check in the correct amount arrived the shutdown was in progress and the state claimed the renewal couldn't be processed.Hunting and fishing licenses and gun permits and background checks were also halted, something with a huge impact in Minnesota.

After two weeks of shutdown,Governor Dayton realizes that he has no cards left to play and this wasn't polling well, so he finally gave in.

"During the past two weeks, I have been listening carefully to people throughout Minnesota,” the governor wrote. “They are telling me that, overwhelmingly, they want this budget dispute resolved.”

There's a major lesson here for the Republicans in Congress. If they hold President Obama accountable and refuse to accept the nonsense he's offering, he's going to cave, even if it takes a brief shutdown to underline the point.Let President Obama and the Democrats be seen as the irresponsible obstructionists.

Sarah Palin: "The Sugar Daddy Has Run Out of Sugar"

Barack Obama’s big government policies continue to fail. He should put a link to the national debt clock on his BlackBerry. The gears on that clock have nearly exploded during his administration. Yesterday’s terrible job numbers should not be a surprise because it all goes back to our debt. Our dangerously unsustainable debt is wiping out our jobs, crippling our economic growth, and jeopardizing our position in the global economy as the leader of the free world.

As a governor, I had to deal with facts, even unpleasant ones. I dealt with the world as it is, not as I wished it to be. The “elite” political class in this country with their heads in the sand had better face some unpleasant facts about the world as it is. They’ve run out of money and no amount of accounting gimmicks or happy talk will change this reality. Those of us who live in the real world could see this day coming.

Back in January 2009, as governor of Alaska, I announced: “We also have to be mindful about the effect of the stimulus package on the national debt and the future economic health of the country. We won’t achieve long-term stability if we continue borrowing massive sums from foreign countries and remain dependent on foreign sources of oil and gas.” Then I urged President Obama to veto the stimulus bill because it was loaded with absolutely useless pork and unfunded mandates. Everyone knows my early and vocal opposition to that mother of all unfunded mandates known as Obamacare starting back in August 2009, and many recall my objections to the Federal Reserves’ inflationary games with our currency known as QE2 from November 2010. It’s a matter of public record that I did not go to Harvard Law School, but I can add.

The same “experts” who got us into this mess are now telling us that the only way out of our debt crisis is to “increase revenue,” but not by creating more jobs and therefore a larger tax base; no, they want to “increase revenue” by raising taxes on job creators who are taxed enough already! As Margaret Thatcher said, “The trouble with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people’s money.” That’s where we are now. Hard working taxpayers have been big government’s Sugar Daddy for far too long, and now we’re out of sugar. We don’t want big government, we can’t afford it, and we are unwilling to pay for it.

This debt ceiling debate is the perfect time to do what must be done. We must cut. Yes, I’m for a balanced budget amendment and for enforceable spending caps. But first and foremost we must cut spending, not “strike a deal” that allows politicians to raise more debt! See, Washington is addicted to OPM – Other People’s Money. And like any junkie, they will lie, steal, and cheat to fund their addiction. We must cut them off and cut government down to size.

To paraphrase Hemingway, people go broke slowly and then all at once. We’ve been slowly going broke for years, but now it’s happening all at once as the world’s capital markets are demanding action from us, yet Obama assumes we'll just go borrow another cup of sugar from some increasingly impatient neighbor. We cannot knock on anyone’s door anymore. And we don’t have any time to wait for Washington to start behaving responsibly. We’ll be Greece before these D.C. politicians’ false promises are over. We must force government to live within its means, just as every business and household does.

We can’t close our $1.5 trillion deficit overnight, but we must get as close as we can as soon as we can. Little nibbles here and there over 10 years (spun to sound like they’re huge budget cuts) aren’t anywhere near enough. I know from experience that cutting government spending isn’t easy. As governor, I made the largest veto cuts in my state’s history, and I didn’t make many friends doing it. But we will never recover, we will never get free of devastating debt, unless we make tough choices now. We don’t hear talk like this from leaders in D.C. or from those running for office because they say what they think we want to hear rather than what must be said.

We are in desperate need of real leadership, but President Obama’s solution to everything is to grow government by borrowing more money, spending more money, printing more money, and taxing our job creators. He once said that he “believes in American Exceptionalism…just as the Greeks believe in Greek Exceptionalism.” Well, the path he has us on will make us just as “exceptional” as Greece – debt crisis, stagnation, permanent high unemployment, and all.

As we approach 2012, there are important lessons we can learn from all of this. First, we should never entrust the White House to a far-left ideologue who has no appreciation or even understanding of the free market and limited government principles that made this country economically strong. Second, the office of the presidency is too important for on-the-job training. It requires a strong chief executive who has been entrusted with real authority in the past and has achieved a proven track record of positive measurable accomplishments. Leaders are expected to give good speeches, but leadership is so much more than oratory. Real leadership requires deeds even more than words. It means taking on the problems no one else wants to tackle. It means providing vision and guidance, inspiring people to action, bringing everyone to the table, and with a servant's heart dedicating oneself to striking agreements that keep faith with our Constitution and with the ordinary citizens who entrusted you with power. It means bucking the status quo, fighting the corrupt powers that be, serving the common good, and leaving the country better than you found it. Most of us don’t see a lot of that real leadership in D.C., and it’s profoundly disappointing.

But let me tell you where real hope lies. It’s not the hopey-changey stuff we heard about in 2008. Real hope comes from realizing how God has blessed our exceptional nation, and then doing something about it. We have been blessed with natural resources, hardworking entrepreneurs, and a Constitution that preserves the greatest form of government ever devised by man. If we develop those natural resources, allow our entrepreneurs to keep and invest more of what they earn, and adhere to the time-tested truths of our Constitution, we will prosper and endure.

But first and foremost we must tackle our debt. We don’t have the luxury of playing politics as usual. We need real leaders who will put aside their own political self-interest to do what is right for the nation. And if they don’t emerge… well, America has a do-over in November 2012.

It Looks Like A Shutdown

According to House Speaker John Boehner, a meeting between congressional leaders at the White House this morning produced nothing in terms of a budget compromise that would avoid a government shutdown.

Boehner reportedly told President Obama that his the House Republicans will not be "forced to choose between two options that are bad for the country (accepting a bad deal that fails to make real spending cuts, or accepting a government shutdown due to Senate inaction)."

"That this is why House Republicans — in lieu of an agreement in which the White House and Senate agree to real spending cuts — are rallying behind a potential third option: a CR that funds our troops through September while cutting an additional $12 billion in spending and keeps the government running for another week."

This is a classic example of how the two parties think.

Boehner, Paul Ryan and Eric Cantor see a government that spent 8 times more money in March than it took in from revenue and are horrified at the practical implications. Obama and the Democrats are only concerned about the political implications of continuing the age-old Tammany Hall model of bribing interest groups for votes at the taxpayer's expense and how to spin the blame for a government shutdown on the Republicans.

For that matter, Boehner may have trouble getting the votes for that third option. The House, particularly the new, incoming freshmen with Tea Party backing know exactly why they were sent to Washington and are in a rebellious mood.

House Republican Leader Eric Cantor was particularly forthright about pinning the blame on President Barack Obama for any government shutdown because of the president's rejecting a Republican proposal that would have pushed the deadline back by one week.

"The White House now has increased the likelihood of a shutdown in just dismissing out of hand a vehicle that we have put forward to say, 'Look, we do not want a shutdown,'" Cantor told reporters.

He's fairly correct about that one.

What Obama is doing is attempting to lay the PR groundwork to blame the GOP when funds run out on Friday, and in this there's an odd symmetry between the President and the more conservative GOP congressmen. They both want to bring things to a head, although in the president's case he obviously expects the GOP establishment to cave in and reduce the spending cuts according to the president's wishes. Obama may be overplaying his hand.

The president, of course has another agenda entirely in mind.

Rep. Paul Ryan came out with his 2012 budget proposal today, which he describes in detail in today's WSJ. It calls for cutting a record $$6.2 trillion in spending from the National budget over the next 10 years and puts the nation on track to actually pay off our national debt.

It would also involve major cuts in Obama's projected budget, and the president obviously sees the current budget war as an opening battle on the far deeper cuts Ryan has planned.

This cuts to the heart of the Tammany Hall model that keeps the Democrats alive.

They need tax payer funds to bribe their constituencies and survive just like Dracula needs blood, and they will fight just as hard and be just as ruthless to keep the flow hemorrhaging..no matter what.
