Michelle Obama, NYT Columnist Charles Blow Say Blacks Are Mindless Sheep

Here's the transcript, with Charles Blow talking to CNN. Note what I emphasized:

LEMON: OK, yes, and I've heard a lot of that, having been from Baton Rouge and visited there recently, the thing is this candidate will vote on everything that the president has voted on. You also point out too that among the African-American voters support is still strong for the president, something that "SNL" alluded to this weekend. Here it is.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Times are looking bleak. Republicans are likely going to take the Senate and many Americans have been disappointed with the president's handling of the Ebola crisis, immigration, and ISIS. So I'm asking, for real. Should we have voted for Mitt Romney? Hell, no. Hell, no.

LEMON: Then they went on to talk about other scenarios about, no, the president was wrong on this, but would that change your vote? And they say no. The woman who gave you birth feels the same way. Obama can do no wrong. The president has been out of sight in a lot of these key elections tomorrow. He is now playing to the black votes in an effort to keep the Senate. I mean, will this last-ditch effort, do you think, as you call it, will it work?

BLOW: Well, I don't know. But I think, you know, the idea of politicians trying to play to a particular demographic where they are strong is understandable and he's doing that. The African-American populations vote overwhelmingly Democratic regardless of who is on the ticket.

And they in particular seem to be holding this president in high regard. And he is now asking them to come out and vote in higher numbers. So in a couple of states, you know, maybe Georgia, maybe Louisiana, North Carolina, maybe Arkansas.

You could have enough of an African-American population in those states that if you cranked up the turnout among that group who always vote Democratic, you could have an impact. Whether or not this will work, who knows?

There is some suggestion in some of the early voting tallies that the numbers are up from 2010. Will it be up enough? Will more of those people actually show up on Election Day than are being predicted at this point? Who knows?

LEMON: That's a million-dollar question right there. Can I get this in? I want to get your quick response because I want to play this. This is from News One here, the first lady speaking to Roland Martin. A channel geared toward African-Americans. Here it is.

BLOW: OK.

MICHELLE OBAMA, FIRST LADY: And that's my message to voters. This isn't about Barack. It's not about the person on the ballot. It's about you and for most of the people that we're talking to, a Democratic ticket is the clear ticket that we should be voting on regardless of who said what or did this. That shouldn't even come into the equation.

LEMON: It's not about the person on the ballot. It's about you. Is she right?

BLOW: Well, I mean, it's hard to parse exactly what she means by that. But I do believe, you know, this is a Democratic presidency, the first lady married to a Democratic president. Of course, they are going to be in favor of the Democratic line.

And I think the Democrats have basically been trying to make this pitch that the Democratic Party is the more friendly party for particular populations and trying to make that case. Will it be enough? That keeps becoming the question. Is this going to be enough to make more people come out to the votes? African-Americans do come out relatively speaking in midterms as a decent rate. So you'd have to push that up even higher than it is now. Whether or not this pitch will do that, I'm not exactly sure.

We'll just briefly mention the fact that the first lady is apparently uninformed or dissembling when she says 'the election isn't about Barak,' since the president himself said numerous times that this election was about him and his policies. But the message is unmistakeable. Blow was slightly more nuanced than the First lady, but they're saying the same thing. They both consider the majority of blacks to be mindless sheep who will vote Democrat and stay on the plantation regardless of who's on the ticket, regardless of what that person has said and done. And regardless of their interests. That's exactly what the SNL clip was satirizing.

The contempt they have for them deep down is palpable.

The Border? The Mideast? Scandals? For The Obamas It's Luxury Vacay Time Again!!

 

Now isn't this precious! The Obamas and a crew of their very special invited guests are planning a 16 day luxury vacation at Martha's Vineyard on a $12 million, 10-acre forested estate with expansive water views of Vineyard Sound on the southwestern corner of the island. The house will have to be altered for security and communications facilities, and then returned to its former condition. That could cost $150,000 and up alone, based on similar jobs like this done for other trips.

From August 9 to August 24 they'll be camped out at the 8,100-square foot beachfront home of a heavy Democrat donor that includes an infinity pool and hot tub, plus a basketball and tennis court.Valerie Jarret, of course will be among the ones in attendance.

A total of 12 smaller houses have been rented for the not quite so favored and the help on the tony island resort during high season..not cheap, although the White House isn't revealing the cost. The average on the island in August is a mere $400-$500 per day. For a dozen houses,lets split the difference and say $8,000 per day, or a total of around $150,000 since the staffers normally get there a few days before the president.

And then, there's security. We can't have gawkers or the non-connected interfering with the Obamas' fun, now can we?

Figure at least 50 Secret Service agents, plus a number of Navy and Coast Guard ships that will be on hand as well.The Secret Service all have vehicles ( normally at least 20 based on the usual size of the presidential entourage, so that means Air Force One plus military transport aircraft which usually includes two VC-25As and a C-130. There is usually also a chartered press plane to bring along additional journalists. Air Force One alone costs $68,000 an hour to run, so figure over $400,000 round trip just for Air Force One, plus the same for the identical backup Air Force One 747 (that's right, there are TWO of them). Figure at least another $75,000 per plane for maintenance, so close to just over a million for the two Air Force Ones alone. The other planes add up to at least slightly more than that...let's call it two million five in all. That doesn't include food and beverages, something the Obamas and their guests are normally pretty free with according to documents obtained on other trips by Judicial Watch's FOIA suits.

Obviously the number and type of ships guarding the president is highly classified. I think assuming something like 15-20 ships including submarine and Coast Guard launches is probably pretty close to correct.Operation costs for military vessels vary according to size and type. A modern sub, for instance, costs about $55,000 per day to operate. If there are two of them, one for each side of the island, we're talking almost $2 million for eighteen days, just for the subs.Smaller destroyers cost about $150,000 per day, so a pair of those might run between $2 to $2.5 million. For the entire vacay, I would not be surprised if the naval ships cost between $5 million and $10 million for the 18 days they'll be on duty.Let's say $6 million, which is probably on the low side.

We're up to $8.8 million. And we haven't figured in food, gas, entertainment, greens fees, communications charges or a myriad of other miscellaneous expenses. I figure the entire romp will cost the taxpayers at least $10 million, probably more.

Just for comparison purposes, Mrs. Obama's previous luxury romp in Spain cost close to half a million of your tax dollars, and according to the UK Daily Mail, Judicial Watch reports that it cost more than $11 million for President and Mrs. Obama to travel to South Africa for Nelson Mandela's memorial service in December, where the president and his wife and their entourage were in Africa for less than 13 hours.

No one has even begun to calculate the cost  of the luxurious China  vacation Michelle Obama took  with her mother and assorted hangers on that was actually billed as an official trip  believe it or not, even though no official business was conducted.

And the most fun part of all? Guess who's paying for it? We are! Now there's something to think about as you're trying to figure out whether you can swing the price of gas, meals at McDonalds or Carrows and a couple of nights in a Motel Six to take your own family out for a long weekend this summer or whether its going to be another staycation at home.

But for the Obamas, its Bluto Blutarsky's motto all the way: "Take it. Don't cost nuthin'. "

 

At least, it don't cost nuthin' for the Obamas!


But let's not be too critical. The president needs to rest up from his fundraising and campaigning for his fellow Democrats. That speech he always gives, the class warfare one at each stop ranting about the awful “1 percent,” the greedy “rich” (you know, anyone making $200,000 who's not working in government) and those do-nothing Republicans in congress must take a lot out of him.

(***BIG FAT NOTE*** Yours truly edited the above part of this piece after being notified by some of the usual trolls in the comments section that I had been punked by a SATIRE SITE. Yes, even the trolls serve a purpose sometimes. The part about the vacay is true, but the former numbers were so ludicrously off I should have known. Doesn't happen often, but I had a pretty big laugh at myself at how I fell into this one! Mea culpa.

So I researched what the likely costs would be for a presidential vacay in  a place like Martha's Vineyard, the  actual cost of operating the aircraft, renting auxiliary properties and the cost of operating the naval vessels.Of course, the trolls missed the forest for the trees, like always  -  that at a time when our economy is actually shrinking, so many are in want  and there are so many major problems to deal with, it's a selfish, indecent  and  classless move to go on a luxury vacay of this sort. That part was right on the money, and they of course ignored it. We now return to our regularly scheduled program )

Ah, but what about BUSH! Didn't HE go to that satanic ranch of his in Crawford all the time. HUH!?!



I hate it when the insane Left makes me defend a mediocre president like George W. Bush. Although of course he looks good, you know, in retrospect to some people.

The Bushes spent a mere fraction of what the Obamas have spent on vacation, and there's a simple reason why. Rather than renting a different house each time in a high cost resort, almost of of their vacations were spent in one of three places - at the family home in Crawford, at Camp David or at a family compound in Maine.

When a president goes on vacation, the biggest costs involve Air Force One, the subsidiary aircraft for staff and the Secret Service and accommodations for them.And the extensive changes to any property so the computer and communications networks are encrypted and secure and can be used successfully by the president in case something comes up, or simply if a decision needs to be made while he's on vacation.

In the case of the Bushes, two out of three of these location already had the communications networks and accommodations for the Secret Service and staff already in place on the premises, Camp David ( which doesn't even need to be flown to, so no Air Force one expenditures) and the Bush Compound in Maine, because of George HW Bush's presidency. The Bush family home in Crawford had to have these facilities prepared precisely ONCE, after George W. Bush became president. The only further expenditure for Crawford in 8 years was the flight time and the phone bill.

Now, in the case of the Obamas, they stay in different high priced digs each time where similarly high priced accommodations have to be found for the Secret Service, staff and help each and every time. And each and every time whatever mansion they're staying in has to be refurbished for security access and to accommodate the computer systems, surveillance cameras and communications networks needed...and then repaired and returned to their original condition when the Obamas leave...at literally millions in government expense, of course.

The Bushes weren't exactly high livers compared to the Obamas either. There was nothing like some of the gaudy spectacles we've seen since the Obamas came to town. And no one ever saw Mrs. Laura Bush sporting high fashion designer gowns at gala White House events.

There's no way of working it out besides hearsay from people who have served both presidents, but the overall impression we get is that President Bush spent a great deal more work time on his vacations than Barack Obama ever has. I wouldn't be at all surprised if that was true.

Oh, and one more thing. President Bush was an enthusiastic golfer, just like our current president. But he gave it up entirely once we went to war after the invasion of Afghanistan. To paraphrase the president's own words, he didn't want some mother or wife of an American soldier in harm's way to see her president playing golf when their loved ones were in danger.

That showed a certain amount of empathy and class. We have a very different kind of man in the White House now.

And speaking of empathy and class, I also seem to remember that during the Depression, FDR and Eleanor Roosevelt weren't ones for ritzy parties, high fashion and expensive vacations either...and they could have afforded to pay for such things themselves, let alone getting them on the government dime. Whatever one thinks of their politics they were, essentially, decent human beings who had a sense of what living it up during war and depression would look and feel like to their fellow Americans.

 

As much as I might disagree with some of her views, Mrs. Roosevelt was an amazing human being and exactly the First Lady the country needed during depression, hardship and war. She flew all over the country at a time when flying wasn't anywhere near comfortable as it is now, and she went to the slums, the mines and the small towns left without hope to let the American people know that someone in Washington knew what they were going through and actually gave a damn. Franklin couldn't walk, so she became his legs.

And when war came, she ran herself ragged visiting the troops, selling bonds and comforting Gold Star mothers who had lost loved ones. She would have been outraged at the idea of spending millions on vacations or prancing around in designer clothes.



And FDR? His vacations consisted of therapy and playing pater familias at Warm Springs, going to Camp David and the odd yacht cruise for a day, a special relaxation for an old sailor.



 

Again, they were very different people than the current inhabitants of the White House. They were by no means perfect, but they came to give, not to take.

Senator Michelle Obama!!!?!!

That's the speculation by the talking heads at NBC.

NBC Quoting Reuters:

She would quickly become the most recognizable face in the Senate. Her fame and fundraising ability would command deference in a body that normally operates on seniority. Whether the recent elevation of her profile suggests a plan to run is unclear, but she will be well positioned should she jump in.

According to outdated polls cited by NBC from Democrat pollster PPP in 2012, she leads Republican Senator Mark Kirk by about ten points. Never mind that the polls are two years old and that Kirk's seat doesn't come up until 2016, with two years being an eternity in politics.Or that the FLOTUS has never evidenced any interest in running for office anyway.

This is what passes for a news story these days.

But one thing the story could have looked at - if we're looking at something thought provoking - is the why someone with no accomplishments whatsoever except spending an inordinate amount of taxpayer dollars on luxury vacations and travel for herself and her entourage and friends would be thought of seriously as a worthy candidate for senator.

Mrs. Obama lacks any experience that would qualify her for the senate. Even her law license from the State of Illinois was revoked, or 'voluntarily surrendered' as the jargon goes in 1993.She's never run anything, or even held a job for very long that actually required her to do any work. Her only real 'qualification' is her last name and the fact that the Obama fundraising machine would be behind her. And oh yes, that as the Democratic candidate she could count on the usual voter fraud from Cook County.

That's it.

That's what we've come to...an entitled ruling class with no achievements or accomplishments whatsoever being touted as a candidate for high office.

Some heartwarming coverage of our First Lady during her multimillion dollar taxpayer funded China vacay. Really, we're not worthy....

Speaking to a group of awestruck Chinese citizens, Michelle Obama recounted her years of oppression as a victim of racism and how she survived the American extermination camps.

"There were laws in America that discriminated against people like me because of the color of our skin," said Michelle. A sharp inward gasp was heard as the interpreter finished her comment in Mandarin.

Still haunted by laws that were no longer in effect when she was born, Michelle outlined her plight as she endured racism in Princeton University, and narrowly escaped death at Harvard Law School. Tears were seen streaming down the cheeks of some of the visibly moved Chinese citizens.

Women in her audience especially were deeply touched as the First Lady revealed how she had to live paycheck to paycheck as a hospital administrator with a meager six digit income.

"Sometimes we had to say no to caviar, or no to a really expensive Italian sports car because we just couldn't afford it," Michelle Obama recalled, her voice breaking, as one Chinese woman fainted and another one began sobbing uncontrollably.

However, when Michelle recalled the glorious day when her husband was chosen as the Democrat Party candidate for president - the day when she was proud of her country for the first time in her adult life - triumphant cheers broke out and she received a standing ovation.

Michelle Obama And Her Entourage Living It Up In China - On Your Money

As you may know, First Lady Michelle Obama is in China on yet another vacation paid for by the American tax payers.

The First Lady, her mother, and her daughters are staying in the presidential suite at the Westin Beijing Chaoyang, a 3,445-square-foot suite designed with the ultimate luxury in mind that costs a whopping $8,350 a night.

 

Ah, but that's just for the Obamas. An assortment of her retainers and Chicago and DC hangers on have additional rooms in the hotel, and the Secret Service and lower level help have an entire floor booked.

Mrs. Obama's previous luxury romp in Spain cost close to half a million of your tax dollars, and according to the UK Daily Mail, Judicial Watch reports that it cost more than $11 million for President and Mrs. Obama to travel to Africa for Nelson Mandela's memorial service in December, where the president and his wife and their entourage were in Africa for less than 13 hours. This week-long China trip will come with a heavy tab, what with the increased flying time to Beijing, the five star accommodations and meals and all the additional security.The entire spectacle amounts to over 70 people getting a luxury trip to China on the American taxpayers for what is essentially a tourist excursion with no official business involved at all - yet it's being billed as an 'official trip.'

Yep, real warriors for the middle class! There's a quaint expression that comes to mind here, but I digress.

Obama And Hollande - Scenes From The Class Struggle

 

President Barack Obama's gala hosting of France's Socialist President François Hollande was a unique moment in an administration that has had a number of them.

Both men make a fetish of being 'men of the people', denouncing those whom they deem fat cats and plutocrats and beating the class warfare drum on the campaign trail about 'income inequality'.

So let's look at how they live and conduct themselves at the people's expense.

There is a perfectly good and functional hall in the White House called the State Dining Room that is specifically designated and designed to host state dinners of this sort. But that, of course, was not good enough for President Obama's Socialist comrade in arms or the rest of their 350 guests feeding at the trough.

 The festivities began with a gala reception in the State Dining Room , accompanied by  a selection of cheeses and hors d'oeuvres along with Maine trout, smoked on gen-u-wine  Maine hardwood.

At huge expense, a huge special heated pavilion was erected on the White House's frigid South Lawn complete with chandeliers and turned into a spring-like scene inspired by Claude Monet's Water Lilies paintings, with quince branches in full bloom, irises, blue agapanthus and lilies. The party,of course,weren't expected to walk in the cold to the feast. They were chauffeured over in special little heated trolleys.

And the menu? The First Lady might make noises about obesity and force schools to take away perfectly healthy lunches their students bring from home in exchange for ill favored skimpy school supplied lunches, but that nonsense stops at the White House,believe me.

Let's peruse the 2500 calorie fair that the President, his fellow class warrior and the rest of their party chowed down on:

 

American  Osetra caviar of course, farm raised in the streams of Illinois as an appetizer, followed by Pennsylvania quail eggs, and 12 different varieties of potatoes. Then on to the salad, served in a terrarium-like bowl, featuring herbs from the White House kitchen garden and honey from the White House's own private beehive.You may have noticed the staggering rise in the price of honey at your supermarket lately that's put it out of the reach of working people without a handy EBT card. Not to worry at Chez Obama! 

The main course followed, specially aged ribeye beef from a farm in northern Colorado accompanied by Jasper Hill Farm blue cheese from Vermont and charred shallots, oyster mushrooms and braised chard accompanied by choice wines from California, Washington State, and an amusing but pricy little chardonnay from northern Virginia, just to add a little local color.

Dessert? Certainmot! Hawaiian chocolate-malted ganache, fudge made from Vermont maple syrup, and puffs of cotton candy dusted with orange zest.There were also a number of hand made sugar roses and fleur-de-lis, the official flowers of the U.S. and France respectively. “We made 38 of each‚that’s more than 1,800 petals,” said Pastry Chef Bill Yosses.

Oh, and entertainment for your dining pleasure..Grammy award winner Mary J. Blige.

The First Lady, of course had yet another new outfit for the party..a Carolina Herrera custom design that costs around $12,000, although the FLOTUS probably paid much less (if anything) because of the advertising and prestige value to Ms. Herrera :



Somehow, I don't remember Eleanor Roosevelt tricked out in high fashion at an affair like this when her fellow Americans were suffering during the Depression, but obviously times have changed.

Oh, and what was the cost to the American people for all this merriment? The White House is coy about releasing figures (in fact, the State Department is still refusing to respond to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request filed seven months ago regarding the costs of an especially pricy  dinner was that held for British Prime Minister David Cameron on March 14, 2012), but a similar gala with a smaller guest list for India's president and without the special heated pavilion cost over $600,000. So I think we can put this one at between $700,000 and $800,000, give or take. In case you're wondering, that works out to well over $2,000 a head for one meal.

You know, I sort of understand this. Under President Obama, the number of Americans on food stamps at the taxpayer's expense has skyrocketed. When you think about it, this is simply another meal on the taxpayer's dime, just a lot more blatant, expensive and over the top.

Actually, President Hollande probably needed a nice night out. His approval ratings back home are the lowest of any modern French president, mostly because of high taxes and his miserable failure on things economic, but also because of a particularly sordid scandal he was involved in after he was caught cheating on his long time 'partner' Valerie Trierweile (marriage? quelle bourgeoisie!) with French actress Julie Gayet, who's about 20 years younger than Monsieur le Président. Hollande and Trierweile split in a particularly nasty public brawl, and that was a bit too much even for the normally tolerant French, who are a bit more conservative in these matters than most Americans realize. Hollande arrived here in the U.S. on his own.Oddly enough, he was seated between the Obamas,separating them.Now, at formal dinners, it's not unusual for a husband and wife to sit separately, so that they can host and hostess guests at different parts of the table. But for them to sit at the same part of the table, separated by the guest of honor...unusual.

During the visit, President Obama pulled a few of those gaffes the media simply shies away from mentioning ala' President Bush's pronunciation of the word 'nuclear'. The first one came during a tour of President Jefferson's home in Monticello with his French counterpart, when the president decided to tour the landscape, something that's normally against protocol. As the president explained to Monsieur Hollande, as president, "I can do whatever I want."

Not exactly a gaffe, but perhaps unwise coming from an increasingly imperious president who had illegally announced he would be delaying the Obamacare mandate for businesses unilaterally. Again. If this was a lil' joke by the president, let's just say I doubt that most of the American people struggling with the mess he's created got the humor.

The second one was a real howler, with the president yesterday in his speech at the White House referencing someone named “Alex” De Tocqueville.

Now, he likely meant Alexis De Tocqueville, the French author of 'Democracy in America' and other works. But no one whom ever actually read his books would refer to him as "Alex". And certainly not this president, considering how critical De Tocqueville was of socialism in his native France. The POTUS should have stuck to referencing works by Marcuse, Alinsky and Cornell West, books he's obviously a lot more familiar with.

Just another one of those little gems like 'corpseman' and 'the fifty seven states' that somehow slip out of the mouth of the person the Obama media keeps informing us is the smartest man ever to be president. Of course, since his college transcripts are a closely guarded secret, one has to wonder.

Now, let's briefly discuss the substantive parts of this coming together of these two class warriors.

In a joint press conference, the president mentioned Syria, of course, which he called a 'crumbling state'. Oddly enough, neither France or America is in a position to do much about it, and since Bashir Assad has already fallen way behind schedule on delivering those chemical weapons to Russia and the Russians don't seem inclined to press him, Syria is likely to remain crumbling a bit longer.

The president also brought up Iran. He mentioned that the United States will maintain existing economic sanctions on Iran while six world powers negotiate a durable nuclear pact with Tehran, which as regular readers of these pages know is a flat out lie. The sanctions to all intents and purposes no longer exist, the president threatened to veto legislation that would have re-established them if Iran doesn't comply with its commitments (and those seem to be changing every day, and not in the West's favor), and as a special bit of irony, France was one of the first countries to run to Tehran seeking trade deals. And I can guarantee you both presidents knew all about that.

In fact, President Obama even obliquely mentioned it, saying that French businessmen who have visited Iran recently should know that “they do so at their own peril right now, because we will come down on them like a ton of bricks” if they violate existing sanctions that the United States enforces.

Except both presidents know full well that there are no existing sanctions really, and certainly none being enforced. The president watered them down from day one and virtually ceased enforcing them months before the agreement that wasn't quite an agreement was agreed upon in Geneva last November.

And the biggest lie during the entire press conference? It's a tough pick, but I'll go with this one, from President Obama: “We are absolutely united on our ultimate goal, which is preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.”

The exact opposite is true...President Obama and to a slightly lesser extent President Hollande are just  fine with a nuclear armed Iran and have fantasies of some kind of grand bargain with the Ayatollahs that will result in normal relations and containment, provided those pesky Jews in Israel can be dealt with somehow. They're horribly wrong  and it will eventually cost us a great deal in blood and treasure. 

My guess is that because of Hollande and Obama's shared ideology, the president is trying to make France the new Great Britain, with a similar special relationship. After all, he's made it abundantly clear he doesn't care for the UK, even if they're unbelievably slow on the uptake to realize it.

For now, we're treated to the spectacle of two 'socialist' politicos behaving in exactly the way they picture the Evil Rich Plutocrats do. But with this important exception; the people they demonize mostly earned their money honestly, rather than as ticks feasting on the people of their respective nations.

No Bid Contract For ObamaCare Website Was Given To Michelle Obama's Pal And Sorority Sister

There's an interesting thing that's surfaced regarding the disastrous $678 million ObamaCare website.

The company that built it, CGI Federal received a no bid contract to build the site, even though four other companies submitted bids which were never reviewed. Only CGI’s bid was considered.

And wouldn't you know it, there are a couple of other interesting coincidences.

As the Daily Caller reported, Toni Townes-Whitley, Princeton class of ’85, is the senior vice president at CGI Federal...and not only a classmate and friend of the First Lady, who graduated from Princeton the same year, but a sister at the all black sorority Alpha Kappa Alpha and a fellow member of the Association of Black Princeton Alumni.

And to add to the mix, there's George Schindler, president of CGI, who became an Obama Campaign donor after CGI won the lucrative contract.

Even more interesting, there are rumors that CGI Technologies and Solutions, Inc. PAC – CGI Group’s political action group that donates to the campaigns - made a significant swing in donations to Democrats at around the same time.

Now, no bid contracts have come up before. Democrats threw a huge tantrum over no bid contracts awarded to Halliburton for services they performed in Iraq because of former Vice Presidnt Dick Cheney's past employment with them. Those services included saving Iraq's oil wells after Saddam Hussein set them on fire after we invaded.

The difference was that for most of the work Halliburton performed in Iraq, they were the only game in town and no other bids were submitted. Few companies had the expertise and/or the equipment to do what Halliburton contracted to do...observers who credited Halliburton with saving Iraq's oil wells while avoiding an ecological disaster characterized it as a miracle. Not only that, but few if any competitors were willing to send their equipment and employees into a war zone or pony up for the huge insurance costs involved.

What happened with CGI was very different, with four other companies submitting bids that were never even looked at.

It's the Chicago way...and always done using other people's money.

Yet Another Taxpayer Paid Luxury Vacation For The Obamas, Including a Private Jet For The First Dog

You can't make this stuff up.

Our president and the First lady are enjoying the president's fourth luxury vacation this year, at the ultra-pricey Martha's Vineyard.

Like many of us, the Obamas will unfortunately be downsizing their vacation this time. Their normal rental, the 28-acre Blue Heron Farm has been sold, so they will be reduced to making do at a $7.6 million, 5,000-square foot retreat on nine acres located in Chilmark on the western tip of the island that includes its own basketball court. They'll be there eight days, so the American taxpayer will probably be picking up the tab for a full two weeks. Martha's Vineyard in season is extremely pricey.

Now, no details of what that's costing us, but we do know that over 70 rooms have been booked for the Secret Service and the rest of the entourage not deemed worthy to spend the night on call at the estate. Each room costs $345 per night. mere hovels by Martha's Vineyard standards. The Secret Service normally gets there a few days before the First Family, so let's figure ten days. That works out to well over $240,000, just for lodging for the help. With food and incidentals, we're probably talking around $300,000 plus on the conservative side, not counting transportation and fuel.

And speaking of transportation, President Obama decided to commandeer two MV-22 Ospreys, military aircraft that carry 24 passengers each and cost $11,000 per hour to fly. One of them held the first family, its luggage and some of their more favored servants. The other one was - wait for it - a dog taxi used to fly in the First Dog, Bo.

Round trip cost for two MV-22 Ospreys, about $88,000, not including maintenance.

This also doesn't include the cost of transporting the president and his wife's entourage who didn't manage to hitch a ride in the ospreys. Or any additional Cadillac Escalades or other vehicles they required.

Another little item we have to account for is construction costs for each one of the president's little idylls. Whenever the president travels, extensive renovations have to be performed for the length of his stay to deal with things like security, advanced communication networks and the like. And then these renovations have to be removed and the house returned to its original condition when he leaves. This can cost anywhere up to several hundred thousand dollars.

I've never had much good to say about President George W. Bush, but because he made a point of vacationing at his ranch in Crawford, the American taxpayer only had to do this once. We've already had to do it four times this year alone for President Obama.

Our final tab for President Obama and his family's little taste of the sweet life? Probably around a million dollars, give or take a few greens fees or the odd less than four star meal. That comes out to about $125,000 per day...a lot more than the majority of families in America live on for a full year.

President Obama 'gets' the middle class, all right. Good and hard, and without any lubrication.

Another Posh Vacay..The Obamas To Spend A Week At Martha's Vineyard

 

Yes, the Obamas have scheduled yet another lavish, taxpayer funded vacation for themselves...this time, it's a week at Martha's Vineyard:

C’est la Vie, is designing a new t-shirt to mark the president’s return. Sharky’s Cantina is preparing to roll out its “Obamarita” once again, enticing customers with a margarita made with mandarin oranges, pineapple juice, and tequila (they also have Barack-o-taco, and Barack-guac).

“We’re just pandering,” concedes owner JB Blau.

One mystery is where the Obamas will stay. The 28.5-acre estate they have rented in the past, called Blue Heron Farm, was sold in December 2011 to a European couple and it is apparently unavailable to the Obamas to rent.

The White House won’t say where he plans to stay, and neither will his friends.

“I’ll just say he won’t be as far away as he has been in the past, and I’m grateful for that,” said Charles Ogletree, a Vineyard regular and Obama’s former Harvard Law School professor.

On the island, rumors have been rampant that Obama has been eyeing property in Farm Neck. But others have said that area, where the lots are smaller and less secluded, is unlikely.

Regardless, Obama will be there during a busy time on the island.

The Martha’s Vineyard Livestock Show and Fair, which Obama’s daughters have attended in the past, is Aug. 15-18. The Grand Illumination, an annual outdoor festival in Oak Bluffs, is slated for Aug. 14, and the Oak Bluffs annual fireworks show is scheduled for Aug. 16.

“That third week of August is really the highest of high season,” said Sean Federowicz, a real estate agent.

Harry Belafonte will be performing at an invitation only event at Dreamland theater on Aug 12, an event that’s being organized by Charles Ogletree, Obama’s former professor at Harvard Law School.

Isn;t that just precious? Oh the jolly frolics of our ruling class! Honestly, we're just not worthy.

First Lady Michelle Obama said in a radio interview on Friday that the United States is in the “midst of a huge recovery” because of what “this president has done.”

Pablo Sato, co-host of Pablo & Free on WPGC 95.5, a Washington, D.C.-area hip-hop radio station, asked the first lady: “Mrs. Obama, you know what, in your words, tell us what you think the state of the union is in right now?”

Mrs. Obama said, “I mean, we are seeing right now that we are in the midst of a huge recovery. Right? Because of what this president has done.”

Unbelievable.

Michelle: 'Give Up A Meal So You Can Donate That Money To Barack's Campaign'

No, I do not jest.

Ann Althouse received a fundraiser from Michelle Obama suggesting exactly that. The First Lady wants you to send the money to Barack Obama rather than spend it on that calorie-laden garbage you call food.

After all, someone has to pay for the president's favorite $110 per pound wagyu stake, the White House parties, those 18 5 star vacations the First Lady has taken on the taxpayer's dime,her huge entourage, that cute lil' $4,500 designer dress custom made for her convention speech - not to mention the $540 tennis shoes that went with it.

And that someone is suckers like you, of course.

Even a leftie like Eleanor Roosevelt never behaved in this fashion when she was in the White House and the American people were suffering, let alone had the gall to ask them to donate food money to her husband's campaign.

To quote the First Lady, America may be a downright mean country, but the Obamas seem to have done pretty well out of it.

Michelle Obama's Unintentionally Revealing Speech

The headliner at last night's DNC was First Lady Michelle Obama.

Her speech was a well rehearsed attempt to match Ann Romney's speech at the Republican convention and emphasize a kinder, gentler Barack Obama who understands the struggles ordinary Americans go through because they both were "raised by families who didn't have much in the way of money or material possessions but who had given us something far more valuable – their unconditional love, their unflinching sacrifice, and the chance to go places they had never imagined for themselves."

She spoke about the hard times they had as a couple, when Barack Obama took her out on dates in a car that was rusted out, and how his proudest possession was a coffee table he found in a dumpster.

And she talked about how “Barack was raised by a single mother who struggled to pay the bills, and by grandparents who stepped in when she needed help.”

Of course, to anyone who knows anything about the Obamas and their background, that part of the speech was sheer smoke and mirrors, however well delivered.

Both Obamas, in fact, started out with what most of us would call a real boost up the ladder.

Barack Obama's grandparents didn't 'step in to help' when Stanley Anne Dunham was struggling to pay the bills to raise him. The truth of the matter is that she essentially abandoned him with his typical white grandparents while she went off to seek her bliss in places like Indonesia and barely raised him at all in the usual sense of the word for most of his childhood.

Nor was the young Barack Obama exactly raised in poverty. His grandmother worked as a bank president and made enough of a decent salary not only to support her grandchild and his grandpa, who worked sporadically, but to put Barack Obama through Punahou Academy, one of the most expensive and exclusive private prep schools not only in Hawaii but in the United States.

Michelle Obama's family was hardly downtrodden either. Her father had a relatively decent paying job with the City of Chicago and was a well connected ward leader for Chicago's ruling Democratic party, with all that entails - Michelle used to babysit as a teenager for Jesse Jackson - and she was jumped ahead of the line in order to get into Whitney Young, a public magnet school that caters to Chicago's upper strata.

Which of course is how these things normally work in Chicago. You work for the party at election time, and in exchange you get certain benefits and quid pro quos.

Both Obamas went to exclusive private schools. In Barack's case, he started out at Occidental, a private and by no means inexpensive liberal arts school in Los Angeles. From there, he apparently went to Columbia, although no one who was there at the time seems to remember him and we've never seen any transcripts.

After that, with the aid of Malcolm X's lawyer Percy Sutton and ex-Black Panther member Don Warden AKA Khalid Al-Mansour, he got into Harvard Law School.

In Michelle Obama's case, she was able to get into Princeton and later attended Harvard Law School as well.

When she and Barack Obama met, they were both lawyers working at Sidley Austin, an influential and high level law firm in Chicago, and both were making decent salaries. In fact, they were doing well enough that after they married, they were able to purchase a then pricey $277,500 two-bedroom condo in a good neighborhood in Chicago in 1993.

Aside from the Obama's salaries, they also enjoyed income from the advances and royalties on the sales of Barack Obama's books, and you might recall Michelle Obama admitting in a speech in 2008 that the proceeds from 'Dreams of my Father' effectively retired any student loans they had outstanding.

As Barack Obama entered politics and got elected to the Illinois State Legislature, things got even better. Michelle Obama's law license was revoked by the Illinois State Bar for reasons that have yet to be disclosed, but State Senator Barack Obama and Michelle's own Chicago connections enabled her to get what amounted to a cushy no-show job at a salary of $121,910 as 'Vice President in Charge of Community Relations' with Chicago University Hospital.

That salary leapfrogged to $316,962 for the same job when Barack Obama became a senator in 2005, and just coincidentally, one of Senator Obama's first acts in office was to see to it that the hospital received over a million dollars of your tax dollars as an earmark.

Michelle Obama moved on to the White House after almost a year on leave at full salary so she could campaign , and that vital job of hers,worth a salary of over $300 K was quietly eliminated.

As the Obamas became more prosperous, they also decided to upgrade their residence. Somehow, with the help of Tony Rezco and some arrangements that mysteriously coincided with building permits obtained for what turned out to be substandard housing projects put up by Rezco and Saddam Hussein's bagman Nadhni Auchi, the Obamas succeeded in buying their Hyde Park Mansion in Chicago for $300,000 less than the $1.95 million asking price, right at the height of the real estate boom in 2006, something more than a little bit unusual in a seller's market with prices on the rise.

My point here is not to be excessively mean spirited, but to point out that when Michelle Obama talks about hard times, hard work and responsibility, her reality of what those words mean is quite different from most Americans.

Unlike Mitt Romney, who created prosperity for others besides himself, Barack Obama went into politics to do good and both he and Michelle Obama ended up doing pretty well for themselves on the public's dime. And if you recall the lavish lifestyle and five star vacations the Obamas have pursued in the White House while millions of Americans are struggling financially, they still are.

Michelle Obama's speech went over well with the Obama media and the folks at the convention, but given the Obamas well documented past, will it resonate well with the bitter clingers in flyover country as people recall the last four years?

Somehow I don't think so.

Ann Coulter: Obama’s silver spoon was ‘an affirmative action silver spoon’

Ann Coulter on Hugh Hewitt's radio program, responding to Obama saying that he and Michelle weren't 'born with a silver spoon in their mouths':

“Really, this ‘silver spoon’ business?” Coulter said. “Are they going to do that about every Republican while simultaneously revering FDR and JFK? They really were pure silver spoon aristocrats inheriting all their money. Mitt Romney gave away all the money he inherited. He made it on his own.”

“And the silver spoon Obama got — I mean that generation, it can’t be denied, you can’t support affirmative action and then pretend it doesn’t exist. You don’t transfer from Occidental, which by his own accounts in his autobiography he mostly spent smoking pot, to a fine Ivy League university like Columbia if you’re not checking off ‘black’ on your application. So you know, the silver spoon since I’ve been alive has been an affirmative action silver spoon.”

“I just don’t think Americans are angry at people who go out, work hard and show talent and make the world a better place,” she said. “Do we hate Steve Jobs or Bill Gates?…I think the real class warfare that Americans are hopping mad about is the class warfare between those of us who pay taxes and the people’s whose salary they pay — for their fabulous pensions and they’re partying trips to Las Vegas. And visiting whores in Colombia, and the highest-income counties in the nation not being Beverly Hills or Grosse Point or Greenwich, Conn., but counties all around the seat of government in Washington, D.C.”

“That kind of class warfare I think really strikes a chord right now. Not somebody who has worked hard and done well for himself.”

As usual, she hits the nail on the head.

Another thing worth noting...aside from affirmative action bonus points, the president was the grandson of a bank president who raised him and paid his fees at the exclusive Punahou School in Hawaii..and Michelle Obama's father was a well connected Democrat ward leader, with all that entails.

Democrats' War On Women: "Ann Romney Never Worked A Day In Her Life"

It's going to be an ugly campaign season.Trashing a candidate's spouse is now apparently fair game as Democrat operative and part time media talking head Hilary Rosen attacked Ann Romney on CNN today, saying 'Ann Romney never worked a day in her life'.

Rosen, describes herself as a 'separated Lesbian single mom', but she obviously doesn't know that being a stay at home mother is no life of ease no matter what your circumstances, particularly with the number of kids the Romneys have. A lot of couples from all kinds of backgrounds and circumstances make the choice to have one parent stay at home because they feel it's better for their kids than daycare, and these days, it's not always mom.

Even further, her comments reveal the Left's default contempt for women who make that choice.

And lest you believe the spin this was just some talking head going off on her own, the White House log reveals that Rosen has been to the White House 35 times, including five meetings with President Obama.

By way of comparison General David Petraeus, currently head of our CIA has been to the White House 9 times. And Former CIA director and current Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, 12 times.

This attack was planned by the campaign, and only when it didn't poll well did Rosen get tossed under the bus by David Axelrod and campaign head Jim Messina.

More proof? Look at how President Obama set this up in advance a week ago:



“And then there’s the woman who once me advised me at the law firm in Chicago where we met. Once, uh, she gave me very good advice. That’s why I decided to marry her. And once Michelle and I had our girls, she gave it her all to balance raising a family and pursuing a career. And something that, could be very difficult on her, because I was gone a lot. Once I was in the state legislature, I was teaching, I was practicing law, I’d be traveling. And we didn’t have the luxury for her not to work.

Yes, they simply couldn't get by on $160,000 per year.

I recall, oh,back in 2006, President Obama making a big deal about leaving his wife alone after certain comments she made that were a tad controversial concerning her pride in being an American. I ordinarily would let this lie, but since the president brought it up, let's examine the nature of Michelle Obama's 'work'. Her license to practice law in Illinois was revoked for reasons that have never been revealed, but she was the spouse of a prominent, up and coming Democrat politician and the daughter of a well connected ward leader in Chicago so...certain arrangements were made.

She obtained a position that apparently was created especially for her as 'vice president of community relations' at the University Of Chicago Hospital for a nifty salary of $121,910 right after Barack Obama entered the Illinois state legislature.

It gets better.

When Barack Obama became a U.S. senator in 2005, her 'salary' leapfrogged to $316,962 for the same job...and one of Senator Obama's first acts in office was to see to it that the hospital received over a million dollars of your tax dollars as an earmark.

Yes, that vital job of hers, worth a salary of over $300K was quietly eliminated. Just like it all never happened.

Yes, this is the president of the United States, comparing his wife's Chicago-style quid pro quo no show job to Ann Romney's staying home to raise her kids. Not only is it embarrassing. It's embarrassing he's not embarrassed.

Hilary Rosen, apparently on orders from on high finally 'apologized' on the order of, 'gee, I'm sorry you got offended.'

This is only going to be the beginning. Expect Mrs. Romney and every one of Governor Romney's children to be Palinized by these vicious, indecent people and their media lackeys. It's simply not in their nature to be anything else.

The Obamas Head Off To Their $4 Million Hawaiian Vacation..On The Taxpayer's Dime

Now that President Obama has finished his labors on our behalf, it's time for yet another vacay.

This 17 day idyll is estimated to cost the American tax payer a cool $4 million plus, over $235,000 per day.Ain't no recession here, bubba!

First let's start with the travel expenses:

The biggest expense is President Barack Obama’s round trip flight to Hawaii via Air Force One, a cost the GAO office estimated at $1 million in the year 2000. Contacted today, the GAO confirmed there is no report the independent office affiliated with Congress has prepared since 2000 to operate Air Force One and Air Force Two.

However, the U.S. Air Force provides the most current numbers of $181,757 per flight hour. Travel time for Air Force One direct from Washington D.C. to Hawaii is about 9 hours or $1,635,813 each way for a total of $3,271,622 for the round trip to Hawaii and back.

The cost for USAF C-17 cargo aircraft that transports the Presidential limos, helicopters and other support equipment to Hawaii was not made available. However, the flight time between Andrews Air Force Base and Hawaii is at about 21.5 hours roundtrip, with estimated operating cost of $12,000 per hour. (Source: GAO report, updated by C-17 crew member). The United States Marine Corps provides a presidential helicopter, along with pilots and support crews for the test flights, which travel on another C-17 flight. That is $258,000, not including costs for the 4 to 6 member crew's per diem and hotel.


Mrs. Obama’s early flight to Hawaii costs about $63,000 (White House Dossier), but add security and personnel for a total of about $100,000.

These numbers also don't account for the food and drink bill en route, especially when it comes to Michele Obama's assorted staffers and hangers on.

Now, when the Obamas reach Hawaii, they're going to be paying their own rental for a house nearer to the beach rather than using the Winter White House. Unfortunately, since the Kailua rentals are fronted by the ocean and backed by a canal, not only are the taxpayers footing the bill for housing a larger than usual Secret Service detail,but the cost of housing U.S. Coast Guard and Navy Seals in beach front and canal front homes in Kailua, as well as the cost of maintaining ships off shore.

Rentals in pricy Kailua are calculated at a cost about $1,200 per day ( figured at a cost of $200 per bedroom per day,which I think is frankly low). 18 days ( since security arrives a day early) comes to $151,200.

Now, the President’s staff and White House Press Corps ( don't ask me why they're along) are staying at the Moana Surfrider a world famous five star hotel overlooking the beach in Waikiki.

Rooms usually start at a base rate of $250 to $450 per night, and are even higher during the holidays. There's a special government rate of $177 per night,but the Surfrider's normal policy is that it's not available during the holidays, which are peak time.

But let's make this a gimmee, as President Obama's golf budies would say and calculate this at that rate. That would mean the taxpayers are footing the bill for over $72,216 in hotel bills for an estimated 24 staff. If it isn't at the government rate, we're talking better than double that figure.

Also, tourist mecca that it is, Hawaii charges a 9.25 percent Transient Accommodation Tax and a 4.712 percent General Excise Tax - $10,082.80 if we're talking government rates, more like just over $20,000 if we're not. Add in taxes and charges for meals, internet use, and other et ceteras,( figure an average of $75 per day, again a lowball estimate) and we're probably talking about more like between $150,00 and $185,000.

None of this includes food and beverages for the president's party and their guests while they're on vacay, car rentals, the cost of installing extra phone lines, bullet proof glass and other and security precautions in private residences and then restoring them to their original condition, greens fees, and all the other little extras that crop up when you're on vacation.

At least a bit over $4,000,000...and probably more. And this at a time when a lot of Americans are struggling to get by and just pay their bills. Yes, President Obama is definitely out there fighting for the middle class!

Hawaii is beautiful this time of year I'm told. Especially if someone else is footing the bill.

In fairness to the president, there's a Daily Mail story out there based on a National Inquirer piece saying that the president tried to talk Mooch-elle into a local holiday at the presidential retreat at Camp David, which is not exactly one of the slum properties then State Senator Obama got funded out of public money and had his old pal Tony Rezco build back in Chicago.

But the First Lady apparently got in his face and told him no way, no how.



This actually has the ring of truth, seeing as the president probably would have preferred to keep things more low key with elections coming up. And based on her previous performances, I can well believe that Mooch-elle simply was not to be denied. It's obvious who wears the pants in that particular family.

Believe It or Not, I Just Felt A Moment Of Sympathy For President Obama

Just heard over the local ABC News: In an interview with Barbara Walters for a holiday edition of 20/20, President Obama and his spouse were just interviewed.

The president's response to being asked who he would be if he could be anyone else was to pass. Michelle Obama? She said she'd want to be their dog Bo,because in her words, "He has a great life."

When asked if he had any complaints about his spouse, the president said he had none. Michelle Obama? She reportedly said her list was too big to mention!



Petulant, back stabbing and perpetually dissatisfied, even when living off the fat of the land. Can you imagine being married to someone like that and waking up next to them in the morning?

Yes, I admit it. I actually had a moment of sympathy for President Obama then and there.

Besides, he gave me a great laugh with his reported answer to Ol' Bawbwa when she asked him if he ever lied. His reported response? Only to family and close associates!

Moochelle : GOP Would Curb Freedom of Speech, Religion

I think the powers that be might want to send the First Lady on another deluxe,tax payer funded vacay so stuff like this doesn't surface.

Here's what she had to say at a private fundraiser in Tampa, clearly indicating that a Republican president would appoint Supreme Court justices that would curtail First Amendment rights:

Let’s not forget about what it meant when my husband appointed those two brilliant Supreme Court justices — (applause) — and for the first time in history, our daughters — and our sons — watched three women take their seats on our nation’s highest court. (Applause.) But more importantly, let’s not forget the impact those decisions will have on our lives for decades to come — on our privacy and security, on whether we can speak freely, worship openly, and love whomever we choose. That is what’s at stake here. (Applause.)

And of course, the Race Card was not-so-subtly in appearance:

Will we be a country where opportunity is limited to just the few at the top? Who are we? Or will we give every child a chance to succeed no matter where they’re from, or what they look like or how their money parents are — have. Who are we?

We've never had a president or a First Lady before who have so blatantly tried to set America's people against each other in this fashion for their own tawdry political gain.

Moochelle's $500K Safari Adventure

Courtesy of a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit, the good folks at Judicial Watch finally got the expense records and passenger manifests from the United States Air Force related to the June 21-27, 2011, trip taken by First Lady Michelle Obama, her family and her entourage to South Africa and Botswana.

The results are absolutely appalling, give America's economic challenges.

The Air force provided a C-32 - a Boeing 757 modified by the military for the purpose of flying people with clout - to fly First Lady Michelle Obama, her two daughters and her mother, a niece and a nephew, a hairstylist, makeup artists and various aides and hangers on to South Africa and Botswana to give a couple of speeches, meet Nelson Mandela, and oh yes - enjoy a safari on a private celebrity game preserve.

The flight alone cost US taxpayers $424,142, with another $928.44 listed as the cost of providing 192 meals for the 21 people who made the trip.That doesn't include the total of all costs for the First Lady's trip, such as expenses for security, ground transportation,laundry, room service, hotels, or the safari vacay. Half a million, easy.

As a real laugher, the Obama daughters were listed on the passenger manifest as "senior staff."

The supposed purpose of this luxury trip to South Africa and Botswana was to speak on education, health and wellness issues.

“This trip was as much an opportunity for the Obama family to go on a safari as it was a trip to conduct government business,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “This junket wasted tax dollars and the resources of our overextended military. No wonder we had to sue to pry loose this information.”

Or to use the First Lady's own words, this was yet another opportunity for her to get back at our 'downright mean country' by running up yet another huge tab.

Update: Long time Joshua's Army member Louie Louie points out that $928.44 for 192 meals comes out to $4.83 per meal, which is pretty frugal. But when you do the math, there were 21 people on the trip being served, and 192 'meals'. Works out to 27 'meals' per day for 21 people, so either the $$ amount is understated or a large part of it is for liquor, which means the actual cost for food is higher by almost 1/3. And that doesn't count meals eaten off the plane.

What Did Michelle Obama Say???

There's a video that's surfaced of President Obama and the First Lady at the 9/11 memorial last Sunday that's given rise to a certain amount of controversy.

In a brief clip, Michelle Obama turns to the president in the middle of the ceremony when the the bagpipes are playing, and says something to the president. He nods agreement, she shakes her head and rolls her eyes.

Now, you can't make out exactly what she was saying, so various people have come up with their own interpretations. To my pal Thomas Lifeson over at American Thinker, it looks as though she is saying, "All that for a flag!"

James Robbins over at The Washing Times gets it as 'a skeptical looking Mrs. Obama leans to her husband and appears to say, “all this just for a flag.” She then purses her lips and shakes her head slightly as Mr. Obama nods.'

The Soros-paid galley slaves over at Media Matters quote Kristina Schake, communications director for First Lady Michelle Obama as saying: "The words, meaning and context in these claims are all wildly off the mark. The First Lady was commenting to the President on how moving and powerful it always is to watch all that America's firefighters and police officers do to honor the flag. It was an emotional moment on a powerful day and she was awed by the ceremony and all that the flag symbolizes."

That didn't exactly look to me like what the president's bitter half was saying and the body language definitely doesn't fit.To me, it does look very much like the F-bomb was dropped, which would fit in with the body language a lot better , but in all fairness my lip reading skills are limited, although I do have a certain amount of experience figuring out what someone is saying to me in loud environments like sound stages and concert venues. She could be saying something like 'anybody who wears a kilt is a fag' or 'Ceremonies like this are such a drag' of course.

My point is that The Obamas have a very different take on what our flag and our traditions mean than most Americans, and that's been evident for quite some time.



They, you know, hang out in certain circles where this is pretty much a natural way to behave.



So it would certainly not be out of character for our First Lady to say something disparaging like this, which is why the White House has mostly kept her selectively muzzled or away on high -priced vacations for the past three years. I don't know what she said, but the body language, the head shaking and the eye rolling definitely reinforce that whatever she had to say it probably wasn't something the Obama campaign wants to have surface.
