Obama's STFU Speech - Doubling Down On A Failed Agenda

I absolutely could not believe President Obama made this speech with a straight face. I felt dirty even listening to it.There were literally so many outright lies I could hardly keep track of them.

Here's a capsule summary of some of the biggest ones, and I predicted most of it:

See, everything I had to deal with was all Bush's fault, even though I spent more money in one year than BushHitler did in eight..and that was while fighting two wars and dealing with the hits from 9/11 and Katrina. Oh,and uh, Let's have more civility and end the blame game in Congress, now that I and the Democrats are in power. No more names except when I get to call 'em.

The banks and the lobbyists and Wall Street are evil, except the ones I deal with. And I pinkie promise my administration is gonna start being more transparent, tomorrow.

I'm going to shove this ObamaCare over the goal line regardless of what you peons want. And that goes for cap n' tax too, even though you retards are too stupid to worship the Global Warming Religion. We're gonna tax those evil bankers even though we got the TARP funds back from them mostly, just like my bro Warren Buffet said. You'll see those taxes reflected in the fees you peeps'll pay when you get loans, take out credit cards and open accounts.

I'll toss in a line about clean coal and nuclear power, and even offshore drilling but you know I don't mean it. After all, hasn't it been me and my Democrats that have obstructed any kind of domestic energy creation for years, unless it was making a dollar's worth of ethanol for a dollar and thirty five cents? And believe me, I'm going to keep pushing the green jobs mantra, even if it's been proven to actually cost more jobs than it creates. Lotta money in that for the right people.

I'm gonna take credit for whatever success there is in Iraq, even though I and my party did their very best to sabotage the war effort and the surge strategy while Bush was in office an dour troops were under fire. And if Iran isn't careful, they're gonna be on double secret probation in six months, or a year, or something.

Hey, I even tossed a line in there about standing up for the Iranian protesters, even though I did nothing of the kind.

Veterans? Yeah, always good for an applause line. I'll promise more benefits without getting specific and hope nobody remembers how I tried to take away the VA benefits from wounded vets and make 'em buy their own private healthcare, when I wasn't having Napolitano demonize 'em as a bunch of right wing whackjobs and security risks.

I'm gonna take credit for two million jobs saved or created by the stimulus no matter what the CBO says! After all , they don't know all the different non-existent zip codes and congressional districts we sent money to!That shows you how awesome I am....I can create tax payer funded government jobs that create no wealth whatsoever!

Oh, and spending? Now that I've run the deficit up to historic levels, we'll start doing a spending freeze on a token amount - next year. I'm gonna stop smoking next year too!

In short, I'm doubling down on my agenda, because it's all worked so well and because of how wonderful I am. Bend over America!Full speed ahead Left!

There was a lot more - his egging on Congress to diss the Supreme Court for instance, a new low in decorum -but that's the gist of it.

I don't think I've ever seen a president more willing to soil himself in public. I'm not sure which is more contemptible, Obama's agenda, his disdain for the intelligence of the American people or his sense of himself.

Ann Coulter Hits The Target On Dem Wall Street Bashing

Leave it to Miss Ann to get the right of it:

In the wake of the Massachusetts Miracle last week ("The other Boston Massacre"), President Obama adopted a populist mantle, claiming he was going to "fight" Wall Street. It was either that or win another Nobel Peace Prize.

Now the only question is which Goldman Sachs crony he'll put in charge of this task.

If Obama plans to hold Wall Street accountable for its own bad decisions, it will be a first for the Democrats.

For the past two decades, Democrats have specialized in insulating financial giants from the consequences of their own high-risk bets. Citigroup and Goldman Sachs alone have been rescued from their risky bets by unwitting taxpayers four times in the last 15 years.

Bankers get all the profits, glory and bonuses when their flimflam bets pay off, but the taxpayers foot the bill when Wall Street firms' bets go bad on -- to name just three examples -- Mexican bonds (1995), Thai, Indonesian and South Korean bonds (1997), and Russian bonds (1998).

As Peter Schweizer writes in his magnificent book Architects of Ruin: "Wall Street is a very far cry from the arena of freewheeling capitalism most people recall from their history books." With their reverse-Midas touch, the execrable baby boom generation turned Wall Street into what Schweizer dubs "risk-free Clintonian state capitalism."

Apropos of the Clintonian No-Responsibility Era, Goldman Sachs and Citibank became heavily invested in Mexican bonds after a two-day bender in Tijuana in the early '90s. Any half-wit could see that "investing" in the dog track would be safer than investing in a corrupt Third World government controlled by drug lords.

But precisely because the bonds were so risky, bankers made money hand-over-fist on the scheme -- at least until Mexico defaulted.

With Mexico unable to pay the $25 billion it owed the big financial houses, Clinton's White House decided the banks shouldn't be on the hook for their own bad bets.

Clinton's Treasury Secretary, Robert Rubin, former chairman of Goldman, demanded that the U.S. bail out Mexico to save his friends at Goldman. He said a failure to bail out Mexico would affect "everyone," by which I take it he meant "everyone in my building."

Larry Summers, currently Obama's National Economic Council director, warned that a failure to rescue Mexico would lead to another Great Depression. (Ironically, Summers' current position in the Obama administration is "Great Depression czar.")

Republicans in Congress said "no" to Clinton's Welfare-for-Wall-Street plan.

It's not as if this hadn't happened before: In 1981, Reagan allowed Mexico to default on tens of billions of dollars in debt -- Mexico claimed the money was "in my other pair of pants" -- leaving Wall Street to deal with its own bad bets.

As Larry Summers expected, this led like night into day to the Great Depression we experienced during the Reagan years ... Wait, that never happened.

Bulls eye as usual. Read the rest here.

A Few More Reviews Of Obama's Serial Prevarications Tonight

From the NRO:
Tonight the president engaged in demogoguery of the worst kind, when he claimed that last week's Supreme Court decision in Citizens United v. FEC, "open[ed] the floodgates for special interests — including foreign corporations — to spend without limit in our elections. Well I don't think American elections should be bankrolled by America's most powerful interests, or worse, by foreign entities."

The president's statement is false.

The Court held that 2 U.S.C. Section 441a, which prohibits all corporate political spending, is unconstitutional. Foreign nationals, specifically defined to include foreign corporations, are prohibiting from making "a contribution or donation of money or ather thing of value, or to make an express or implied promise to make a contribution or donation, in connection with a Federal, State or local election" under 2 U.S.C. Section 441e, which was not at issue in the case. Foreign corporations are also prohibited, under 2 U.S.C. 441e, from making any contribution or donation to any committee of any political party, and they prohibited from making any "expenditure, independent expenditure, or disbursement for an electioneering communication... ."

This is either blithering ignorance of the law, or demogoguery of the worst kind.

— Bradley A. Smith is Josiah H. Blackmore II/Shirley M. Nault Designated Professor of Law at Capital University Law School

From Drew over at Ace of Spades:

There was simply too much to put in one post (and no, I won't be going through all of it) but the Iraq part, all two paragraphs of it, were despicable. Not so much for what he said but what he left out.

As we take the fight to al Qaeda, we are responsibly leaving Iraq to its people. As a candidate, I promised that I would end this war, and that is what I am doing as President. We will have all of our combat troops out of Iraq by the end of this August. We will support the Iraqi government as they hold elections, and continue to partner with the Iraqi people to promote regional peace and prosperity. But make no mistake: this war is ending, and all of our troops are coming home.

Tonight, all of our men and women in uniform — in Iraq, Afghanistan, and around the world – must know that they have our respect, our gratitude, and our full support. And just as they must have the resources they need in war, we all have a responsibility to support them when they come home. That is why we made the largest increase in investments for veterans in decades. That is why we are building a 21st century VA. And that is why Michelle has joined with Jill Biden to forge a national commitment to support military families.

The 5 times he used the name Iraq in those paragraphs were the only mentions in the whole speech. What words didn't he use? Victory. Freedom. Or anything that recognized the fruits of the incredible sacrifices millions of men and women in our military and their families made to make it possible.

You see, the war is just "ending". Kind of like a movie or something. Times up, the lights come on, you don't have to go home but you can't stay here.

As I tweeted last night during the speech: "According to Obama the Iraq war is over. Any word on who won?"

Oh and this 'ending'? Yeah, he inherited that from Bush too but you don't hear him mention that do you?

I doubt W. cares much about what this childish little man says or thinks about him. Bush signed up for the big leagues and if Obama can't do anything but bitch about him, well, that's part of the deal. Besides, Bush only looks better by comparison. But for a serving Commander in Chief to fail to acknowledge the victory of American troops is beyond shameful, it's unpardonable and even un-American.

From John Hanlon at TownHall:

The text below is from a partial CNN.com transcript of Obama's first State of the Union address. These are comical words coming from an administration that has, in the past, waged political war with Rush Limbaugh, Fox News and others. If President Obama does not want perpetual campaigns waged against political opponents, he should have instructed his administration not to do that a long time ago....

But what frustrates the American people is a Washington where every day is Election Day. We cannot wage a perpetual campaign where the only goal is to see who can get the most embarrassing headlines about their opponent -- a belief that if you lose, I win

From Vodka Pundit (Stephen Green) at PJM:

6:28PM High-speed trains! Green jobs! I’ve learned nothing! Applaud your impending demise!

6:29PM Business to Obama: Stop helping already. Please. We’re begging you.

6:30PM “I want a jobs bill on my desk without delay.” And the Congress that has spent a year not passing health care or cap & trade says, “We’ll get riiiiiight on that.”

6:31PM “How long should we wait?” Last I heard, about 75 minutes.

6:32PM Washington has told us to wait? Where was he when America invented damn near every single thing in the last couple centuries? Name a big Chinese or Indian consumer product that isn’t a copy. We’re not in second place — unless Washington spends another year like the last one.

6:33PM “I’m not interested in punishing banks.” He just wants to take money from them and tell them what to do. “This hurts me more than it hurts you… ”

6:34PM “If the bill… doesn’t mean the test of real reform… I’ll sign it anyway because it’s been a year and I’m looking bad here, folks. Please.”

6:34PM Obama cures cancer!

From Michelle Malkin:

Hey, President Obama, how about your pal SEIU president Andy Stern’s illegal lobbying activities at 1600 Pennsylvania? Let the sun shine in.

How about Alston and Bird lobbyist Tom Daschle’s undue influence in your Oval Office? Drain the swamp.

***

9:07pm Eastern. Instead of drinking, I’m going to do a push-up every time O says “I,” “change,” “jobs,” “investment,” or “clear.”

Obama arrives. There are more forced smiles in the room than at a Miss World beauty pageant.

Obama clunkifies Tom Paine: “These are the times that tested the courage of our convictions.”

He blames failures of Washington DC. “Numbing weight of politics.”

Has someone clued him into the fact that HE is Washington DC. HE is the numbing weight.

O: “We all hated the bank bailout…it was as popular as a root canal.” Biden grinning from ear to ear. Quickly moves on to rationalizing the bank bailout. “I supported the last administration’s efforts…we made it more transparent…we recovered most of the money.”

Except for the money that Geithner allowed AIG to fork over to its counterparties in secret, of course.

Obama lambastes Wall Street for a few minutes more, then pats himself on the back for cutting taxes. Not mentioned: Massive tobacco tax hikes to pay for SCHIP expansion.

From Glenn Reynolds at Instapundit:

A.P. FACT-CHECKS OBAMA

“President Barack Obama, who once considered government spending freezes a hatchet job, told Americans on Wednesday it’s now part of his solution to the exploding deficit. He didn’t explain what had changed.” Read the whole thing.

FROM JUSTICE ALITO, a “you lie” moment? “POLITICO’s Kasie Hunt, who’s in the House chamber, reports that Justice Samuel Alito mouthed the words ‘not true’ when President Barack Obama criticized the Supreme Court’s campaign finance decision.” Drudge is calling Obama’s criticism “intimidation,” but apparently, they weren’t so intimidated. As I said before, Obama’s behavior wasn’t very Presidential, and it wasn’t very wise.

UPDATE: Brad Smith: “The president’s statement is false.”

MORE: “When you hear the president of the United States demagoguing the First Amendment, you sit there and you take it, son.”

No, actually, you don’t, and Alito didn’t. And that will step on Obama’s press tonight and tomorrow, turning his demagoguery into a negative for him. That’s why Presidents usually act Presidential. Not so much because it’s dignified. But because it’s smart. That’s something that Obama, with his limited experience on the national stage, hasn’t figured out yet.

MORE: Video.

Plus, from Dan Riehl, “If this becomes the narrative it hurts Obama and distracts from any thing he may have wanted to accomplish with the address.”

Howard Zinn Dies

Howard Zinn

This shouldn't pass without notice.

Marxist historian Howard Zinn passed away today on his 88th birthday, while traveling in California.

Zinn was a professor emeritus of history in the Political Science Department at Boston University. He was the author of more than 20 books, including the infamous People's History Of America.

His main scholarly achievement was to play a large part in helping mainstream the deconstructionist school of history, which stripped of the verbiage means that it's perfectly OK to manipulate or emphasize historical facts to fit or advance a political agenda.

Zinn was a major voice in both the civil rights movement and the anti-Vietnam war movement, who testifyed in court for Pentagon Papers burglar Daniel Ellsberg.

He also wrote plays, including Marx in Soho, a one-man play on the life of Karl Marx that defends the principles of communism and advocates their adoption in America...as indeed most of his work did.

His pal, radical Leftist activist Noam Chomsky was quoted as saying, "His writings have changed the consciousness of a generation, and helped open new paths to understanding and its crucial meaning for our lives."

Zinn, like Chomsky was a valued foot soldier in the Gramscian warfare unleashed against America by the Soviet Union as far back as the 1920's.

As you might recall me mentioning, Gramscian warfare was the brain child of Italian communist Antonio Gramsci, a major influence on the Soviets who theorized that the best way to export the communist revolution to the West was not through armed struggle but by infiltrating its cultural and educational systems.

The Soviets had a great deal of success with this strategy, particularly after WWII.

Play The Obama State Of The Union Drinking Game!

http://www.freetofu.com/wp-content/images/2008/october/drunk_girl.jpg

I expect Obama's STFU..sorry, SOTU speech tonight to be one smelly load of horse manure, and I'll be digging in to that sorry mess later on so you won't have to.

However, for those of you who own high boots and feel compelled to watch the train-wreck as it happens, I suggest the following to pass the time and make it a little more fun:

Set out an assortment of your favorite libations on your coffee table (and please do this at home so you won't be driving) and get ready:

(Serious note: This is strictly for fun, and if you actually drank as much as you would if you followed these rules, it's probably stomach pumpin' time as my pal Weekend Monkey would tell you...if you survived, and you might not. Watch your intake, use your brain and drink responsibly!)

  • For every time Zero says 'Let me be clear" do one shot.

  • For every time Zero sayshope or hopeful do one shot.

  • If Obama says "Make no mistake" one shot.

  • For every time he says: 'the past eight years' or uses the phrase 'we inherited' one shot.

  • If a Haitian is seated next to Michelle Obama, shot time. Rum.

  • If Obama mentions 'health care reform' and vows to 'move it over the finish line' two shots, but you have to get them down without laughing and having the booze come back up your nose.

  • If Prez Zero tells a touching little sob story story of some poor unfortunate denied health care, one shot of Smirnoff. Two shots if they're actually in the audience.

  • If Obama starts defending Cap n' Tax and global warming, chug and then throw an empty beer can at the television.

  • If Slo-Joe Biden chuckles, smiles, talks inappropriately and pees in his pants like last time, one shot.

  • If Obama throws something at him, finish the bottle.

  • One sip every time Nancy Pelosi jumps up and down and claps her flippers.Three shots if she trips over herself and falls off the stage.

  • If the TOTUS (Teleprompter of the United States) breaks down in mid-speech, champagne toast or whatever else you have handy. With Hawaiian pineapple as a snack.

  • If Zero calls for Don't Ask, Don't Tell repeal, one shot, preferably something like Amaretto, a Pink Lady or Creme De Minthe.

  • If Obama signals he's going to go for 'comprehensive immigration reform' AKA La Amenestia, break out the tequilla or the mescal.

  • One shot with a beer chaser for every time Obama mentions 'working families' - by which he means union members, of course. If you do this every time he says 'middle class Americans' you'll likely be drunk in no time.

  • If he describes his fellow Americans using the words 'angry' or frustrated' one shot.

  • Likewise, every time Zero sneers and says" lobbyist", "big business" "fat cats' or "Wall Street" .

Of course, if you really want to get comatose, just do a shot every time Obama says 'I' or 'Me'. You'll be lucky to make it a third of the way through.

Another ObamaWhopper:" I didn't sign off on those shady health care deals ."

Per Mary Katharine Ham at the Weekly Standard notes that President Obama spun this yarn for ABC News:

“Let's just clarify. I didn't make a bunch of deals [on health care]. ... There is a legislative process that is taking place in Congress and I am happy to own up to the fact that I have not changed Congress and how it operates the way I would have liked.”

Nah, wasn't Obama...except, as John McCormack reveals in the Washington Examiner it damn well was, and Zero was into to up to his lying eyes:

...the Washington Post reported on December 20 that Obama's top aides were involved in the negotiations with Nelson:

Schumer, who spent more than 13 hours in Reid's office Friday, said the Medicaid issue was settled around lunchtime, and the final eight hours of the talks focused on the abortion language. Boxer estimated she spent seven hours in Reid's offices -- without ever once sitting in the same room, even though they were all of 25 steps apart.

Reid and Schumer kept up the "shuttle negotiation" between the leader's conference room and his top aide's office, Boxer said.

Keenly aware how tense the talks were, the White House dispatched two aides who together have decades of experience in the Senate -- Jim Messina and Peter Rouse -- to work with Nelson. They relayed their intelligence to White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, who monitored the talks from a dinner in Georgetown.

If Prez Zero claims never he signed on to bribing Nebraska Senator Ben Nelson, he's (A) lying through his teeth (B) telling us he's so out of touch and clueless he has no idea or control over what the White House is doing, AKA the Nixon Watergate defense or (C)a combination of both of the above, with Zero simply telling Emanuel to fix it by whatever means necessary and not interrupt his golf game with details.

Pick whichever one you like, but I'm opting for A with C as a close second choice, since we already know that Obama was intimately and directly involved in exempting his union pals from the 'cadillac health care' tax provisions in the Senate bill as well as Prez Zero's corrupt sweetheart deal with Big Pharma.

All leader lie to some degree, but its usually done for reasons of national security. This self-serving crap simply shows how much contempt this president has for the people that elected him.

The Valley Of Decision : Iran Crosses The Nuclear Threshold

While the West continues to slumber, Iran has crossed the nuclear threshold to 20% enrichment, the minimum needed for a nuclear bomb. Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad plans to announce it in February, during the celebration of the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.

In contrast to the bogus 2007 NIE on Iran, both the German BND and French Intelligence have revealed that the Iranians never actually stopped their illegal clandestine program and are well on their way to functional nuclear weapons. According to a widely circulated report in Germany's well-respected Der Spiegel, Iran's plans are well advanced and a secret military branch of Iran's nuclear research program that answers to the Defense Ministry called FEDAT, an acronym for the "Department for Expanded High-Technology Applications" is involved in the construction of a nuclear warhead for Iran's solid fuel versions of its Shahab missiles:

The Iranians are believed to have conducted non-nuclear tests of a detonating mechanism for a nuclear bomb more than six years ago. The challenge in the technology is to uniformly ignite the conventional explosives surrounding the uranium core -- which is needed to produce the desired chain reaction. It is believed that the test series was conducted with a warhead encased in aluminum. In other words, everything but the core was "real." According to the reports, the Tehran engineers used thin fibers and a measuring circuit board in place of the fissile material. This enabled them to measure the shock waves and photograph flashes that simulate the detonation of a nuclear bomb with some degree of accuracy. The results were apparently so encouraging that the Iranian government has since classified the technology as "feasible."

Ahmadinejad's announcement was essentially the Mullah's response to the latest plan the West proposed, with Iran shipping its uranium to Turkey or Russia for enrichment in exchange for various economic inducements. The Iranians initially signaled interest in the plan, ate up some more time and then finally rejected it in a blatantly obnoxious fashion.

The EU response on January 25th was to essentially refuse to enact sanctions on Iran themselves, but to refer the entire mess to the UN Security Council.

Because of China and Russia's vetoes, any response there will likely be some watered down sanctions that mean absolutely nothing, if that. That will enable the parties to look like they're accomplishing something while business continues as usual, especially for a number of European countries like Germany and Italy whom are major trading partners of Iran.

The sanctions of course were always simply an excuse for holding talks about talks while doing absolutely nothing. That's what they were designed for, and that's what's been going on now for six years - six years - while the centrifuges have continued to turn and Iran has continued to fortify its nuclear sites and improve its weapons technology while being surprisingly open about its ultimate intentions.

And what of the United States? President Obama's idea of action involves mild, 'targeted sanctions' that avoid impacting Iran's major point of vulnerability - refined fuel imports. I

Starting with the famous 'unclenched fist', our amateur president's actions have been a major force in emboldening the mullahs.

After setting a September 2009 deadline for major sanctions Obama simply did nothing and kicked the can down the road until the end of December...after which he did absolutely nothing again.

Instead, we were treated to continuous rounds of useless diplomacy that was always destined to fail because the Chinese and the Russians made it clear that they were never going to come on board. They said so repeatedly.

For that matter, even the administration must know that the idea of sanctions is a charade. Real sanctions that might make a difference would involve a naval and air blockade of Iran, military action Obama is obviously not comfortable with.

President Obama wasn't even willing to do or say anything to exploit the internal unrest in Iran over the elections. In the streets of Tehran and Isfahan, the Iranian protesters repeatedly chanted slogans asking Obama if he was with them or with the regime. Our president's response was to vote 'present' and make sure the mullahs knew they had a free hand.

Meanwhile Iran took over Lebanon through their proxy Hezbollah and re-armed them in blatant disregard of UNSC 1701, the Iran backed Shi'ite Alliance has pushed Iraqi PM Maliki out of their coalition and look to take over Iraq in the next elections and Iran continues to foment violence and terrorism all over the region, even against our troops in Afghanistan.

Our president's response to all this? Absolutely nothing. In fact, Administration figures are still talking about 'engagement' and 'sanctions'!

If Obama actually wanted to help along a resurgent Iran armed with nuclear weapons, he could scarcely have done better. And so far, there's absolutely no sign whatsoever he intends to change course.

In later years, our posterity will marvel at how the West slept and allowed Iran to develop into the threat it has become the same way we marvel at how passive the West was to the rise of Hitler. As for Obama, if things continue as they are an entire generation of Americans faced with the pain and the fallout of having to deal with a nuclear armed Iran and its terrorist proxies will treat him with a visceral contempt not even seen after Richard Nixon resigned.

The one bright spot in this dismal picture remains Israel, who has never lost sight of Iran as the existential threat that it is and retains both the will and the means try to do something about it.

It would be one of the supreme ironies of history if Israel, the despised Jew among nations manages to stop Iran's headlong rush to Armageddon and save the West as well as the presidency of Barack Hussein Obama, the most anti-Israel president America has ever had.

Diane Sawyer Awestruck Over Israeli hospital in Haiti

I wonder if this might just change how Diane Sawyer will treat newscasts on Israel in future ABC reports?

The Jerusalem Posts' David Horovitz has more on what effect the Israeli medical teams are having in Haiti. One thing he doesn't mention is that the Israelis are already bringing Haitian refugees to a haven in Israel, just as they did with refugees from Darfur.

Not a perfect country by any means, but a beacon of light compared to their adversaries.

The Democrats' Circular Firing Squad

I admit being quite amused watching the Democrats flail around sniping at each other in the wake of recent events.

They seem not to have understood the essence of the above message.

While they were all willing to take credit for the 2008 coronation of Prez Zero, they now seem to delight in pointing fingers at each other now that Obama is in meltdown mode.

Here are some of the funnier examples, and they're all pure comedy gold:

James Carville thinks the road back involves blaming Bush more. This actually makes sense on some level since it's the only real tune left in the Obama songbook and is still a hit with the true believers. But recent numbers suggest that it isn't anything like the hit song it was a year ago.

Some Democrats, like Florida's Sen. Bill Nelson and Indiana's Evan Bayh are looking at the polls ( Bayh is down 4 points against prospective GOP challenger Rep. Mike Pence) are saying that the Obama White House needs to heed the fact that almost 2 to 1, most Americans simply don't want Obama Care and that he needs to start governing from the center.

Meanwhile, your average Leftard is urging Prez Zero to get ObamaCare passed by whatever means necessary. And the Democratic leadership in Congress is meeting behind closed doors with the Administration trying to connive a way to get it through.

At the same time, 'progressives' are fighting mad about the fact that Obama hasn't gone completely off the deep end.

Obama, of course, was never really the Wizard of O, the hero who was going to rescue the nation from the Evil Conservatives while unicorns and rainbows poured out of his behind.

What he was instead is the same thing he is now - a mediocre politician schooled in the corrupt petri dish of Chicago politics, with a highly inflated view of himself and his capabilities.

Because of that, he will stick to the script and keep going even if he destroys the Democrats in the process. After all, Prez Zero only has to worry about one election, and the indications are he doesn't even care about that one.

That's who the superdelegates - the Democrat Party movers and shakers independent of public vote - awarded the nomination to while tossing Senator Clinton under the bus in order not to alienate the monolithic black vote, the nutroots and George Soros' money.

That's the man the Democrats spent half a billion dollars electing using any means fair or foul, while the media, whose job it was to vet people like Barack Obama operated like a gaggle of high school cheerleaders.

They're all stuck now with the man who sits on the throne they moved heaven and earth to steal, and if it's coming back to haunt them, so be it.

Share victory, share defeat.

Obama Awards Lucrative No-Bid Afghan Contract To Prominent Dem Donor

I seem to remember a certain recent Democrat presidential candidate attacking the Bush Administration for awarding no-bid contracts in Iraq to people like Halliburton.

But now that Obama's actually in power, I guess this is some of the change he was talking about:

Despite President Obama's long history of criticizing the Bush administration for "sweetheart deals" with favored contractors, the Obama administration this month awarded a $25 million federal contract for work in Afghanistan to a company owned by a Democratic campaign contributor without entertaining competitive bids, Fox News has learned.

The contract, awarded on Jan. 4 to Checchi & Company Consulting, Inc., a Washington-based firm owned by economist and Democratic donor Vincent V. Checchi, will pay the firm $24,673,427 to provide "rule of law stabilization services" in war-torn Afghanistan.

A synopsis of the contract published on the USAID Web site says Checchi & Company will "train the next generation of legal professionals" throughout the Afghan provinces and thereby "develop the capacity of Afghanistan's justice system to be accessible, reliable, and fair."

The legality of the arrangement as a "sole source," or no-bid, contract was made possible by virtue of a waiver signed by the USAID administrator. "They cancelled the open bid on this when they came to power earlier this year," a source familiar with the federal contracting process told Fox News.

Now, with many of the Bush Administration's no-bid contracts with Halliburton, there was actually a rationale because time was of the essence (fighting oil well fires and repairing the rigs, for instance)and there weren't any other companies out there capable of performing the work in a timely manner or willing and able to underwrite the expense of things like insurance for workers in a combat zone. But that's not the case with this particular cozy arrangement:

"That's kind of weird," said another source, who has worked on "rule of law" issues in both Afghanistan and Iraq, about the no-bid contract to Checchi & Company. "There's lots of companies and non-governmental organizations that do this sort of work." {...}

Corporate rivals of Checchi were reluctant to speak on the record about the no-bid contract awarded to his firm because they feared possible retribution by the Obama administration in the awarding of future contracts.

"We don't want to be blackballed," said the managing partner of a consulting firm that has won similar contracts. "You've got to be careful. We're dealing here with people and offices that we depend on for our business."

Still, the rival executive confirmed that open bidding on USAID's lucrative Afghanistan "rule of law" contract was abruptly revoked by the agency earlier this year.

"It's a mystery to us," the managing partner said. "We were going to bid on it. The solicitation (for bids) got pulled back, and we do not know why. We may never know why. These are things that we, as companies doing business with the government, have to put up with."

Of course, figuring out why Checchi got his sweetheart deal isn't actually too big a head scratcher, now is it?

Less than two months after he was sworn into office, President Obama signed a memorandum that he claimed would "dramatically reform the way we do business on contracts across the entire government."

Flanked by aides and lawmakers at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Executive Office Building on March 4, Obama vowed to "end unnecessary no-bid and cost-plus contracts," adding: "In some cases, contracts are awarded without competition….And that's completely unacceptable."

The March 4 memorandum directed the Office of Management and Budget to "maximize the use of full and open competition" in the awarding of federal contracts.

Federal campaign records show Checchi has been a frequent contributor to liberal and Democratic causes and candidates in recent years, including to Obama's presidential campaign.

The records show Checchi has given at least $4,400 to Obama dating back to March 2007, close to the maximum amount allowed. The contractor has also made donations to various arms of the Democratic National Committee, to liberal activist groups like MoveOn.org and ActBlue, and to other party politicians like Sen. John F. Kerry, former presidential candidate John Edwards and former Connecticut Senate candidate Ned Lamont.

Sources confirmed to Fox News that Checchi & Company is but one of a number of private firms capable of performing the work in Afghanistan for which USAID retained it.

Two More Democrats Jump off The Sinking SS Obama

Two more Democrats just jumped off the SS Obama.

The first one is Rep. Marion Berry of Arkansas' 1st District, who announced his retirement to spend more time with his kids, do some hunting and fishing, and avoid losing some of his congressional pension by being defeated as opposed to retiring.

Berry is the second Arkansas Democrat congressman to look reality in the face, along with Rep. Vic Snyder.

In a parting shot, Berry went public about how clueless the Obama Administration has been in co-opting reluctant Blue Dogs to support its agenda:

Berry recounted meetings with White House officials, reminiscent of some during the Clinton days, where he and others urged them not to force Blue Dogs “off into that swamp” of supporting bills that would be unpopular with voters back home.

“I’ve been doing that with this White House, and they just don’t seem to give it any credibility at all,” Berry said. “They just kept telling us how good it was going to be. The president himself, when that was brought up in one group, said, ‘Well, the big difference here and in ’94 was you’ve got me.’ We’re going to see how much difference that makes now.” [snip]

“I began to preach last January that we had already seen this movie and we didn’t want to see it again because we know how it comes out,” said Arkansas’ 1st District congressman, who worked in the Clinton administration before being elected to the House in 1996... "I just began to have flashbacks to 1993 and ’94. No one that was here in ’94, or at the day after the election felt like. It certainly wasn’t a good feeling.”

heh!

The other prominent Democrat to jump off the SS Obama was none other than Slo-Joe's son Beau Biden, Delaware's attorney general who the vice president has been grooming to take over his vacant seat.

As late as the weekend Slo-Joe's people were issuing denials, but Beau Biden announced today that he was dropping out of the race because he planned to run again for re-election as attorney general.

The likely GOP candidate is Delaware Rep. Mike Castle, who Rasmussen already had ahead of Beau Biden 47-42 before the Massachusetts election.

As of now, Castle is running against, well, nobody. And The Cook Political Report has reclassified the Delaware Senate race from 'leans Republican' to 'solid Republican.'

Obama Uses Teleprompters - To Speak To Sixth graders!

Here's President Obama, flanked by Education Secretary Arne Duncan and all wee -weed up with his favorite stereo teleprompters, speaking to sixth graders at Graham Road Elementary School in Falls Church, Virginia last Tuesday, January. 19th. I'm sure his head was doing that back'n forth swivel too.

I guess it's to the point where he even needs to get scripted speaking to kids!

Unbelievable.

(h/t Drudge)

UPDATE: Several people have brought it to my attention that the photo above is actually Obama talking to reporters in the classroom after his speech, not the kids. Of course, that doesn't mean he didn't use the TOTUS to speak to the kids. They're probably more of a critical audience than a lot of the White House press corps!

Still, I feel I should mention it.

Time Mourns Air America's Demise

Leave it to the Obama-worshipping Time Magazine to mourn for the recently deceased Air America:

Financed by some, but clearly not enough, liberal fat cats hoping to provide a countervoice to right-wing radio, Air America lurched to life amid chaos and suspicious bookkeeping that nearly sank the network in its first few months. Flouting received radio wisdom that one strong host creates the strongest listener identity, Air America began with teams in each three-hour time slot, typically pairing a comedian (Marc Maron, Lizz Winstead, Franken) with a radio veteran (Mark Riley, Maddow, Katherine Lanpher). Evenings, radio novices Garofalo and Seder held a yearlong, on-the-air school of self-taught broadcasting. Nobody in charge realized that talking every weekday on the radio is a learned art. Standup comics — who hone their material into 10-minute bits rather than letting it sail for hours on end, and need to be wired, not radio-relaxed — are exactly the wrong people for this job.

The one solo flyer, Randi Rhodes, in the afternoon drive-time slot, showed the network how it's done. Braying and abrasive, funny and whip-smart, Rhodes had what Limbaugh had: a distinctive voice that made people tune in for her next insight or outrage. She built a large, loyal audience — Air America's only show with more than 1.5 million listeners.

Even for a Leftard shill like Richard Corliss, this is a pretty far reach, but it explains exactly why Air America turned into such a limp, foul blimp.

Shows like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Michael Savage don't rely on 'fat cats' to support them - they earned their audience the old-fashioned way, by building it over time and selling advertising based on their ever increasing numbers.

And the 'suspicious bookkeeping'? How about blatantly stealing money from charity funds earmarked for underprivileged children with the aid of some of those Lefty fat cats? Karma, anyone?

As for the wisdom of pairing a bunch of decidedly unfunny comedians and Hollywood types who knew nothing about the medium with radio types from the likes of Pacifica and NPR, Corliss finds an acorn like the proverbial blind pig without fully realizing it.

Almost all of Air America's on-air personnel had spent their entire public lives in a Leftist bubble, whether it was it Hollywood or on taxpayer supported public radio. None of them had ever actually had to compete for audiences before, let alone deal with debate, and it showed.

A confession - being the type of person who enjoys seeing both sides of things (if nothing else than just to get an idea of what arguments the Left is using) I was actually excited when Air America first came on. I figured, naively, that it would be a Left-bent version of Limbaugh or Hannity's shows, with the air personalities actually defending their views on air with the callers while the sparks flew.

I should have known better.

Every time I tuned in, I listened until I literally couldn't stand any more of the lame, boring gibberish and DNC talking points that passed for content. Rather than a forum for debate, the hosts simply repeated the same old crap while screening calls to make sure that no one - and I mean no one - with an opposing view got on the air. Every once in a long while, an obvious and easily destroyed cretin would make it on to make the hosts look good, but other than that, sheer echo chamber.

Even worse was the not-so-occasional excursions into actual sedition. I personally heard Randi Rhodes, the foul mouthed Leftard harridan Corliss extols above as a shining example live on the air encourage our troops in Iraq to desert and call for President Bush to be treated like Fredo in the 'Godfather':"You take him out in a boat, give him two behind the ear and badda-bing badda boom, it's all over."

She was not fired or even suspended by Air America for gems like that. But it's a key to why she had only 1.5 million listeners ( and I personally doubt she had that many) in afternoon drive time..as opposed to the sort of numbers Limbaugh ( 22 milion listeners and growing, every day), Levin or Hannity pull in.

And here's another little secret Corliss would rather not tell you...Air America only lasted as long as it did because it was supported by right wing radio!

For instance, in Los Angeles, if you bought advertising on the local Clear Channel right wing talk station at KFI, you also automatically got spots on the local Air America outlet, KTLK,which Clear Channel also owned. So if you were paying to advertise on Rush Limbaugh's show, the same spots would automatically appear on Ed Schultz or Randi Rhodes.

The same pattern existed in most of the rest of Air America's markets, with a conservative talk radio networkpaying the freight for Lefty radio.

And that's what actually brought Air America down. With diminished advertising revenues because of the economic climate, companies like Clear Channel simply decided that carrying Air America stations with hardly any audience simply no longer made economic sense.

Good riddance. And contrary to what Corliss has to say, they won't be missed at all.

Bibi Plants A Tree And His Flag On The West Bank

Tu Bishvat is a Jewish holiday somewhat similar to our Arbor Day, when many Israelis celebrate by planting a tree. This year, because Tu BiShvat falls on the Sabbath, the planting's being done early.

Only hours after Israeli PM Benyamin Netanyahu met with Obama's Arab-American Special Envoy to the region, George Mitchell, he went to Jewish communities in Judea (AKA the West Bank) to make a symbolic statement. He planted trees:

In advance of Tu Bishvat, which marks the new year for trees, Netanyahu planted a tree both in Kibbutz Kfar Etzion in Gush Etzion and in Ma'aleh Adumim. It was Netanyahu's first visit to West Bank settlements since he took office at the end of last March.

He also promised to plant a tree in Ariel.

With these trees, Netanyahu said he wanted to "send a clear message that we are here. We will stay here. We are planning and we are building."

He added that these three settlement concentrations - Gush Etzion, Ma'aleh Adumim and Ariel - are an "indisputable part of Israel forever. This is an idea that is accepted by the majority of Israelis" and is part of international agreements, Netanyahu said.

He spoke in the small museum dedicated to those the 240 residents and defenders of the initial Gush Etzion bloc who were massacred by the Arab forces during the 1948 War of Independence.

Outside the museum, he picked up a shovel, and planted a tree, together with the great-grandson of one of the massacre victims.

Gush Etzion, like Ariel, was originally built back in the 1920's on land purchased by the Jewish National Fund from the Ottoman Emirs at an exorbitant price and its history is worth revisiting.

After a great deal of effort, the Jews managed to turn Gush Etzion into a relatively prosperous farming community.

In 1948, they were cut off by the Jordanian Arab Legion and their British officers and were offered safe conduct to the Jewish lines if they surrendered. Burdened with women and children, armed with a few rifles and facing a modern fighting force armed with artillery, they agreed.

Once the Jews laid down their arms, the Arabs massacred two hundred forty of the inhabitants outright, including almost all of the able bodied men. The rest, mostly women and children were sent to a Jordanian military prison, where they lived under unspeakable conditions until they were repatriated to Israel in 1950.

Gush Etzion became a Jordanian military base, with the rightful owners able to view their old homes from the John F. Kennedy Memorial forest in Israel. And after Jordan attacked Israel in 1967, the Israelis recaptured it and returned it to the rightful owners.

These and similar areas remaining part of Israel under any prospective settlement were the entire basis under which Israel signed on to the Roadmap during the Bush Administration, no matter how much the current occupant of the White House might try to conveniently dissemble about that fact. Netanyahu is simply stating the obvious.

Britain's Muslim Police Revolt In Favor Of Jihad

Britain's National Association Of Muslim police(NAMP), representing over 2,000 police officers has pretty much just let everyone know where their real loyalties lie.

They attacked government policy on countering Islamist extremism in a seven page memorandum sent to Parliament saying that government ministers were wrong to associate Islam as the cause behind recent terrorist attacks, and that Far Right extremists like the BNP were a much more dangerous threat to national security.

The NAMP claimed Muslims were being “stigmatised” by the British Government’s anti-terrorism programs, which was creating “hatred” against the Muslim community and that that Muslims were subjected to 'daily abuse' due to British government policies.

Even more telling, the NAMP said the Government’s policies could not “continue unchecked” and that Muslim police officers "might be reluctant to take part."

The threat in these words is implicit.Unless Britain accommodates radical Islam and stops targeting it, not only will these Muslim police not enforce the law, they are saying they will encourage other Muslims not to cooperate with law enforcement and will actively sabotage any policies they don't agree with!

The whole idea that the real threat to Britain comes from the ‘far right’ rather than home grown and imported jihadis is something only someone living in a cave for the last ten years or so could accept without bursting out laughing. It isn't the BNP or any of the other boogeymen of the‘far right’ who are attacking synagogues or blowing up or attempting to blow up subways and airplanes in Britain and elsewhere. It's only dumb luck and the diligence of some brave men in Britain and elsewhere that has kept the death toll as low as it's been.

And all of this is part of a global jihad, a Holy War waged in the name of Islam, like it or not. However many Muslims merely want to live peaceful lives and do not support that war, the fact remains that there are plenty that do. And their number is increasing.

Since it seems a lot of Muslim police are not only in denial but appear to want to support the jihad. They're saying directly that they'll only support the laws they want to and will actually encourage breaking the laws they don't. This is the same trend we've seen with the no go areas for non-Muslims in Britain, and the legitimization of sharia law, a blatant attempt to establish a parallel Muslim state in Britain that is loyal only to the dictates of the Muslim umma. The NAMP are simply a disloyal fifth column and another arm of the jihad, unpleasant as that may be to hear.

This is what Britain's Labour government has gained by constantly working to appease the Islamists and Muslims in its midst.

Must See: Crazies For Palin Hey Hey!

Some people you can never please
You might as well just let them be
They mock everything not their own
From their imaginary throne
But I won't bow down,
even if the whole world thinks I'm crazy

So hey hey, this song is for us
So put your hands in the air
if you're crazy like us
Hey hey
Hey hey, that's freedom you hear
Comin' right to your ear,
that's the sound from our bus
Hey hey

Why try to be like someone else
When you can only be yourself?
No one can sing the song you do
Be true, be legendary you
So I won't sell out,
even if the whole world thinks I'm crazy

Why kiss the feet of the people who kick you
When you can be anything that you want to?

Jon Stewart has some wicked fun mocking Mess NBC's rabid, urine soaked mad dog.

Especially gratifying was The Daily Show audience's gasp when Stewart played the clip of Olbermouth accusing Scott Brown of being 'sexist' as compared to Olbermouth's referring to Michelle Malkin as ' a mindless, fascistic morally bankrupt..mashed up bag of meat with lipstick on it.'

I guess these people forgot exactly how misogynist and hateful Olbermann actually is.

Oh,and by the way, that quote about 'shove a curling iron up her butt' shouted out at a Brown rally? Olbermouth was too cowardly and dishonest to say so and Stewart was primarily interested in laugh material, but that remark refers to a famous 2005 child rape case in Massachusetts using that very implement.

Martha Coakely as district Attorney for Middlesex County let the perpetrator out of jail on his own recognizance and refused to prosecute the case. Coakley's successor corrected her mistake and won a conviction and two life terms.
