The attack was targeted against an American convoy that was gathering at the embassy compound for Thanksgiving.
The suicide car bomb detonated just outside the main entrance.
Kabul police chief Mohammad Ayub Salangi said one person was killed and six wounded in the attack.
There's no reason to believe there's any connection with what's going on in Mumbai, but it's a reminder that the War onJihad has a way of rearing it's ugly head when you least expect it. And that will remain true until we defeat our enemies.

If we are going to defeat our enemies, we must first recognize that the Islamic terrorist enemies we are currently fighting are much more dangerous to America than Nazi Germany or Imperial Japan ever were or likely ever could have been. Then we must recognize that the greatest generation who won WWII were prepared for war before the actual fighting actually started. Americans and Westerners today are woefully unprepared for the kind of war effort that will be necessary. American leadership must explain in clear and concise terms to the American people exactly how dangerous this enemy is and what must be done to defeat it.
The United States should do the following in regards to its domestic policies: 1.) Secure its borders. The porous borders on the North and South are like a sieve that we are not effectively monitoring. 2.) Develop all of our own oil and gas reserves. 3.) Build more refineries. 3.) Utilize coal to oil technologies to the maximum extent possible. 4.) Invest in nuclear power plants to the maximum extent possible for energy porduction. 5.)Closely monitor the mosques. 6.) Place a moratorium on imigration from Middle Eastern and other Islamic countries.
As for foreign policy: 1.)The idea of a "Palestinian" state is ludicrous. The "Palestinians" are implacable enemies of America. Such a state would place Aemrica in grave danger. America does not have the political power to prevent the formation of this state, however, more could be done to convince Western European allies of the danger this state would pose to America. 2.) Implement a military draft. WWII required a draft, as well as a massive committment on the part of the Aemrican people. This enemy is more dangerous to America than the enemies faced in WWII ever were or likely ever could have been. A simillar commitment will be required. 3.) Upgrade the military significnatly. Our emeies are being supplied by Russia and China in many cases. We lag behind Russia and China in most key areas. This gap needs to be closed and closed quickly. 4.) Upgrade and expand the nuclear arsenal. 5.) Increase our human intellegence capabilities. With better human intellegence we may have been able to prevent the attack that recently occurred in India. 6.) Keep a close eye on Russia and China. These are our most dangerous enemies on earth. Right now the US military is largely inferior to Russia's. This gap must be closed. We need to bring our military to a level that it is at least on par with Russia and China. Right now it isn't even close ti being equal with Russia. State Department officials do not get this. They should be replaced immediately. To often, Russia and China are found supporting our Islamic terrorist enemies. There may be a silver lining here. With the recent decline in oil prices this may temporarily hamper Russia's ability to threaten us. This may allow us some time to close the military and human intellegence gap that Russia currently enjoys over the United States.
Can we win this war? Absolutely we can. Victory will begin with a frank assesement of the enemies we face. Then it is going to require a firm committment on the part of the American people and our Western European allies. It is unlikely that we will be able to win this war alone. We will need their help but it likely will start with us. As long as real help from them is unavailable, there is no use complaining about it. We just need to make the committments to get this done.
Most importantly our country was founded on Judeo-Christian concepts. We have drifted away from our founding principles in recent decades. As long as we continue to live in a manner that rejects these principles, it is difficult if not impossible to expect God's continued blessing. We must return to these founding Judeo-Christian concepts. The ancient Israelites sought Godly counsel in their affairs. We should do the same.
BPoster, what is wrong with you? You're supporting military slavery? That's pure Communism. Shame on you. Does the sacrifice of the Civil War & the Emancipation Proclamation mean nothing to you? You also state that the American people were 'prepared for war before the actual fighting actually started' in the 1939-1941 War. They weren't : the US refused to enter the war in 1939. The US had to be bombed by Japan into entering the Pacific Theatre of the war, &, even then, Hitler had to personally declare war against the US in order for the US to get involved in the European Theatre. Before that, Joseph Kennedy, a Hitler sympathiser, & a truly despicable character, held so much sway with legions of Americans that the US was frozen in complete isolationism for over 2 years.
To freedom fighter : I wrote a reply to bposter just about half an hour ago. I can't recall precisely what I said, but I may have been harsh to him ( which I didn't intend to be ). Please feel free to squelch that 1 or, even, edit it to an acceptable level. Please understand that as an American Indian (NB, Native American, I must emphasise,) I get so frustrated listening to whites, blacks, et al, with their dystopian dreams involving our young people. I just wish that all of you uninvited guests ( assuming for the moment that you are not American Indian ) would just join together in stopping all future Mohammetan ( Moslem ) immigration, expelling any radical Mohammetan sympathisers, & getting out those dusty A bombs with the explicit threat of using them against any terrorist region or country which allows ( or cannot control ) the terrorists. By the way, I know that this is trivial, but as a former newspaper proof-reader ( for 2 papers which went defunct whilst I was there -- talk about a poor career choice! ) the subject of its (possessive pronoun) vs it's ( it is or it has) continually strikes me whilst reading your pages. I realise that you are a voluminous speed reader & a voluminous speed writer, whereas I am amongst the proof-reading snails, but I have to confess seeing that irritates me sometimes, & it must irritate some other readers also sometimes. You don't have to publish any of this ( in fact, just squelch this as well, ) -- I just don't know where to find the equivalent of a suggestion box in a web site ( I'm no computer person! ). Again, apologies for what may have been an acerbic letter earlier. (You can suppress that 1 & this 1, with my blessing. I'm not a terribly patient person, I know. I guess even in my old age, G-- in his wisdom will have a lot of work to do in re of me.) It has been a terrible news day, & I guess we are, all of us, a bit on edge.
Er, 1939 to --1945-- was what I meant supra (above). I was thinking re the 1st 2 years & it slipped from my fingers thus. Seriously, just get out those A bombs. --signed, an old, politically-cynical American-Indian ( sc, 'Native' American -- though I don't employ that term ever myself ; however, I realise that with murder in ' Bombay ' in the news that it may be important to clarify that point for international readers which may not even realise that we exist)
Anonymous,
I think I adressed the slavery charge you level against me in the previous thread. I may need to clarify what I meant about being ready for war when WWII started.
The greatest generation tha won WWII had just been through a great depression. Inly about twenty years before Aemrica had fought in the Great War. While most people who fought in WWII did not fight in WWI, they had fathers, brothers, unlces, etc who did. In other words, they were not very far removed from the event. A combination of these events instilled in the Aemricans of that era a work ethic and a willingness to sacrfice that made victroy in WWII possible. So, yes the Americans who fought in WWII were ready prior to going in.
Today the people have not had to face the kinds of hardships the greatest generation faced. Today's Americans and Western Europeans are not as prepared for war as those people were.
You call non native Aemricans "univited guests." It is God who sets the times and limits of civilizations. The Judeo Christian based culutre that was established by the founders of the United States and Western civilization has brought unprecedented freedom and prosperity to its populations as well those who are willing to embrace it. Also, America has done more than probably anyone else to spread the teachings of the Old and New Testaments of the Holy Scriptures to the world at large.
In other words, the American people have generally been excellent stewards of the land and the blessings that God has given them. Unfortunately as Aemrica and all of the Western world drift further from the Christian founding principles expecting continued blessing from God becomes problematic at best. If the Aemrican people cease to be good stewards of the land or the blessings that God has given them, God can and will give the land to more worthy tennants and his blessings will be given to those more worthy.
Hey, Bposter, it's me, the politically-incorrect American-Indian once again. Ahem, the 13th Amendment to the Constitution Of The United States Of America ( you do remember that, don't you ? ) : 'Section 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for a crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction. Section 2. Congress shall have the power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.' That wasn't written by us American-Indians ( Native-Americans ) ; it was written by you lot ( assuming you are not American Indian ). It's refreshingly clear in its ban on slavery & involuntary servitude : unless you intentionally commit a criminal act against another individual, & have been duly convicted thereof, you can not be enslaved, or involuntarily-servituded, as you would probably phrase it in your peculiar Alice In Wonderland lexicon. 2dly, I utilised the expression 'uninvited guests' as a gentle reminder that we, the native peoples, did not ask to be invaded. It's not as if we said, 'Hey, all of you in the over-populated Eastern Hemisphere, come over here & invade our lands, swindle our nations with treaties which you will then violate with complete impunity, force all of our nations from their home-lands, push entire Indian nations into complete -COMPLETE- extinction, rape our women, & make war against many peaceful Indian nations which not only had NO understanding of warfare but did NOT even have a word for war in their native languages.' Many Indian nations actually had to import the English word 'WAR' into their languages to describe this new 'White activity' ! This is your idea of 'unprecedented freedom & prosperity' ( your words ) ? Read up on the 'Trail Of Tears' & what the evil Andrew Jackson & the evil Martin Van Buren did. But, look, I don't hate you 'guests'. I'm not asking you Whites, & al, to go back to Russia. I don't hold you lot personally responsible for what happened then : there is no such thing as inherited sin. I've lived & worked amongst you here & in Europe for several decades. Most of you are perfectly decent, honourable individuals. In fact, I've found most of you 'guests' to be quite entertaining. I'm only asking you to keep your word ( eg, honour the Indian treaties ), keep your hands off our kids & everyone else's, too ( viz, no slavery ), & be grateful that we, the Indian nations, are, for the most part, quiet, peaceful, stoical, tolerant peoples with a laissez-faire attitude towards you, our guests. Surely, that is fair, isn't it ? There are many settlers round the world which would envy your position. You mention a 'previous thread'. You must actually mean a later thread, since I am reading these 'web logs', or 'blogs', chronologically. I promise to read it & to respond when I have some spare time ( which is not available to me at this moment & juncture ). PS, I was not involved in the American-Indian occupation of Alcatraz Island during the Nixon years ( were you the one which asked me re that ? ) ; however, I did have the honour of contributing some research re the activities & having them used as source material in Europe where I was working as a VERY young newspaper-intern for school credit. Be at peace, bposter, & G-- bless you !
