California To One Up NY With Toughest Gun Laws In America

California has a supermajority of Left wing Democrats whom control both Houses of the state legislature, as well as Jerry Brown in the governor's chair. Not content with having the highest taxes in the nation and the worst climate for business, they now want to shoot ( pun intended) for the most restrictive and unconstitutional gun laws in the U.S.

Democrats who control the state Legislature revealed 10 proposals that they said would make California the most restrictive state for possessing firearms.

They were joined at a Capitol news conference by San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee and Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, along with several police chiefs.

"California has always been a leader on the issue of gun safety," Villaraigosa said. "New York has stepped up and stepped forward. California needs to answer the call."

Before the laws that were recently pushed through in New York, California had the most stringent state gun laws in the country. Apparently the once Golden State wants to reclaim the crown.

The proposals now being talked about include:

  • A ban on the sale of any semi-automatic rifles with detachable magazines. Some Democrats are calling for that be extended to include pistols.California also plans to vastly increase th elist of what they call 'prohibited weapons'..and the new laws would be retroactive, applying to people that currently own these weapons legally. To those of you who have a knowledge of the Constitution, this is an ex post facto law and a taking of private property without compensation.

  • Possession of magazines holding more than 10 bullets would be illegal, even by those who now own them legally.

  • California would require a fee to be paid and a background check for anyone buying ammunition.

  • California would ban buttons that can be used to quickly detach and reload magazines in semi-automatic rifles. This law would apply to new purchases, since anyone now owning a semi-automatic rifle would be required to turn it in as an 'illegal firearm' per the new banned list.

  • a prohibition on lending or giving a firearm to anyone but the official registered owner.

  • Three bills have already been introduced, with others to come before this month's deadline for submitting legislation.

Of course, once the laws are passed, California's army of gang bangers and recently released felons are sure to turn in any weapons they have that end up on the banned list, register any firearms they still own, gladly turn in their now illegal magazines and happily comply with every aspect of the new legislation.

They have a reputation for their respect for the law. I'm sure that Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa knows that, as an ex-gang banger himself.

The laws will be challenged in court and eventually defeated, but that isn't going to stop California's Democrats from trying. Besides, in the interim, they will have disarmed a number of law abiding citizens.

    What could possibly go wrong?

This is how 'progressive' fascists govern. Meanwhile, DHS is stocking up on arms and ammo to keep the peasants in line.

In reality a revolver is semi-automatic by their definition of one pull - one bang. I guess they can stay since the do not have a detachable magazine. Some have cylinders that come out easily though. What's next? A lever action revolver?

Whether they are semi-auto, pump-action, lever action, bolt action, mere single shots or muzzle-loaders the hoplophobes want 'em all.
