Obama Pulls the Ol' Switcheroo - He Signs The Budget Bill, But Protects The Funding For His 'Czars'
Absolutely nothing like honest dealing, is there, Mr. President?
GOP Speaker John Boehner's deal with Harry Reid just got a little pricier.
While Prez Zero signed the legislation Boehner and Harry Reid hammered out, he also issued a signing statement, a legal declaration by a president on legislation they sign into law. Obama's notified lawmakers that he won't abide by the section of the new budget law defunding the establishment of so-called "czars."
Obama's 'czars' as you know, are informal advisers in various areas who aren't subject to Senate confirmation, get six figure salaries and huge staff budgets. They've been a major sore point for the Republicans, which is why they included in their spending bill a provision barring the use of federal funds for czars as part of the deal. Between this and his prior partisan attack dog speech on the budget, Obama essentially just told Boehner and the Republicans in Congress exactly where they can go and how to get there. That's the president's idea of 'bi-partisanship'.
Obama, in this as in most things, is essentially a dishonest man. The point where he agrees to a deal is the point where you need to check and make sure you still have your wallet.
So much for Boehner's sense of the art of the deal, hmm? It would have been far better to go for broke and start out on a high note from which you could then grudgingly climb down.
Perhaps Boehner and the others who supported this smoke and mirrors budget fiasco learned something from the experience. I hope so.

Which brings us right back to where we were a couple of weeks ago -- a situation in which Barack Obama has once again committed high crimes or misdemeanors which merit impeachment and removal from office. And while one might argue that Obama's illegal war in Libya didn't rise to such a level, there can be no question that following through on his words today will merit removal from office.
