Who Says You Can't Have Things Both Ways? Just Ask Senator Clinton...

Trying to follow Democrat front runner Senator Hillary Clinton's changing positions on the Iraq War would dislocate the neck of a snake.

Today, in a joint appearence at the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Kansas City, MO with Senator John McCain, Senator Clinton told the VFW that the Iraq surge is working.

Clinton said that General Petraeus' new tactics have brought success against Iraq's insurgents Islamist terrorists.

"It's working. We're just years too late in changing our tactics," she said.

Does she that mean that, now that the tactics have changed she supports the war in Iraq and wants to continue those new tactics that are working so well?

In another odd statement at the same VFW meeting, in the same speech no less, the Senator proposed that we `honor' our troops by bringing them home. Is she saying that, well, the new tactics are working, but let's short circut them and opt for defeat by pulling our troops out?

Let's rewind a bit. The other night, at the Democrat debates, Senator Clinton made a point of saying it's time to bring the troops home now.

As a matter of fact, this is a standard part of Senator Clinton's stump speech and she's said repeatedly that her first act as president if she's elected will be to pull our troops out of Iraq if they're still there.

At the same time, depending on the audience, she's saying that a precipitous pullout would be a mistake....

Can I get a witness,brothers and sisters?

All politicians dodge and weave to some extent, but Senator Clinton's movements left and then right on this issue would put a desert sidewinder to shame.

Does she actually stand for anything, aside from getting into power however she can and covering herself so that no matter which way things go, she can point to something she said that supported that position?

This is starting to sound suspiciously like John Kerry's `I voted for it before I voted against it'.

Not commander-in-chief material, I don't think....especially not with what's at stake in the next four years.

Hi Anonymous,

Which ones?

Her speech at the VFW? Her remarks at the various debates? Or her stump speeches?

They're all inherently different and contradictory..which was exactly my point.
