Sarah Palin Sees Gays As Human Beings - Why The Surprise?

Whenever the media is desperate for a story during a slow news cycle, they go to Old Reliable - Governor Sarah Palin.

Today's non-story involves prominent gay blogger, author and talk show host Tammy Bruce ( a staunch Palin supporter, by the way) who announced with pleased surprise that Governor Palin had retweeted her on a tweet Bruce sent out supporting the repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell:

"But this hypocrisy is just truly too much. Enuf already–the more someone complains about the homos the more we should look under their bed.”

Bruce of course was absolutely thrilled with Palin’s re-tweet, saying it constitutes a clear signal the former Republican vice presidential nominee is a friend of the gay community.

“I think @SarahPalinUSA RT my tweet is her first comment on DADT, treatment of gays & attempts to marginalize us–thank you Governor,” Bruce replied.

But why the surprise? As governor, Palin vetoed a bill in 2006 that would have denied benefits to employees in same-sex relationships, saying it was unconstitutional. While she opposes same-sex marriage ( something consistent with her religious beliefs, after all), there has never been a hint in her public or private life to show that she endorses hatred of homosexuals.

Yet needless to say, CNN , HuffPo, the Politico, Gawker and a number of other outlets found this worthy of headlines, and archly questioned Sarah Palin's 'motives.'

It never ends.

Just like the nonsense that Palin wanted to punish rape victims by making them pay for the arpe kit. The police chief of Wasila explained that with their financial shortfall he was looking for a way to make some money back and would only charge the insurance companies, not the victims, but the left bullcrap persists.

If the establishment news media, establishment Republicans, Democrats, and the "Left" would simply ignore Mrs. Palin, she would very quickly fade from memory and rapidly disappear down the memory hole. Their obssession with her reminds me of something.
If I might impose on the reader's patience, once when I was a small child, I used to get minor cuts and scrapes as all children likely do.

Once when I got such a scrape, I picked at it repeatedly and when a bandage was put on it I pulled off the bandage to make sure it was healing. As one might imagine, the scrape got slightly infected. My older cousin who would later go on to become a registered nurse tried to tell me not to pick at the cut. It would get well on its own. If I pick at the cut, it will only make it worse and will delay the healing process. The next time I got such a scrape I heeded her advice and the cut got well very quickly, without bandages and without a trace that it had ever been there. Imagine that!!

Now, Mrs. Palin is a bit like this minor scrape I had as a child that got infected because I continued to pick at it to establishment Republicans, Democrats, the establishment media, and the "Left." If they'd simply ignore her, she'd be rapidly forgotten and their "Palin cut" would heal up quite rapidly without even the slightest trace they had ever had such an injury.

Now personally I don't much care for establishment Republicans, the establishment media, Democrats, or the "Left." As such, I find their obsession with this woman rather amusing. If they wish to continue picking at their "Palin cut" and it becomes a full blown infection, be my guest. I'm not going to get in the way of self destructive tendencies of people whose policies I despise. They've caused enough damage to our great country. Let them suffer for it.
