Taxpayers To Pay For Special Exemption From ObamaCare For Congress And Staffs
Faced with being subjected to the tender mercies of ObamaCare along with their staffers, you better believe Congress took swift action.
The problem was rooted in the need to rush ObamaCare through using the reconciliation process that was formerly limited only to budget considerations. Because Scott Brown was elected as a Republican in a special election, the Republicans had enough votes to filibuster this disastrous, budget busting piece of legislation, so it was never sent back to the senate where glitches and contradictions are ironed out.
The original text of the Affordable Care Act had a provision inserted by Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) which said members of Congress and their aides must be covered by plans “created” by the law or “offered through an exchange.” That meant that without the subsidies they currently enjoy, congressmen and their aides and staffers would have faced thousands of dollars in additional premium payments each year...just like the rest of us.
Well, we can't have that.
The Office of Personnel Management (OPM), under heavy pressure from congress has issued a new directive...they'll continue to pay special subsidies to congressmen and their staffs, which amount to 75% on the taxpayer's dime.
This at a time when employers are laying people off and turning full time workers into part timers to get out from under the huge cost and regulatory oversight of ObamaCare.
Here's a quote for you, courtesy of Democrat minority leader Nancy "we have to Pass the bill to see what's in it" Pelosi:
“Members of Congress and their staffs must enroll in health marketplaces as the Affordable Care Act requires,” she wrote. “As we continue our work to ensure the smooth implementation of this law and look forward to the start of enrollment on October 1st, we will continue our efforts this August to educate consumers on the law’s provisions and tout the critical benefits already in place for millions of Americans.”
The people that voted for these greedy, deceiving, self serving brigands are getting an education all right.

'ya know.
i just can't agree with that.
my reason is because i don't think "the people" want to know or don't care.
the people who were/are following all of this, need no education.
there are about a dozen of us.
