Vegas Heist: Dumb Bandit Gets Away With $1.5 Million...In Chips!

Crime may not pay, but especially not when the perp isn't too bright.

A lone gunman on a motorcycle hit the Bellagio Casino today and made a clean getaway.

"The suspect, wearing a full-face motorcycle helmet, entered the casino and went directly to a craps table. He pulled a gun, told everyone not to move and took approximately $1.5 million worth of casino chips," according to a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department news release.

Here's where the stupid part comes in. Those casino chips have to be redeemed at some point, and the only place you can do it is - yes,at the Vegas casinos.

As a matter of fact, every casino has its own unique chips and they're not interchangeable unless it's at another casino owned by the same company. And rest assured, the cashiers at all of the MGM Resorts casinos have been instructed to watch out for anyone trying to cash in large stacks of high denomination chips from the Bellagio!

I'm sure the Vegas police are watching the cages as well.

The robber is described as a white male, between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall, weighing about 220 pounds and with an IQ that barely cracks two digits.

I may be speculating on whether that last is actually a part of the official description.
