Muslim Imam Who Lectures On Non-Violence Arrested For Wife Beating
Some stories almost write themselves.
Sheikh Abu Adam is the Egyptian imam of the Darul Quran Mosque in Munich. He's something of a poster boy for 'moderate' Islam, lectures frequently on topics like 'An Islam which distances itself from violence' and advises the German government on Islamic affairs.
But at home, he's apparently a real traditionalist.
The imam was arrested by German police after beating one of his wives so badly that she suffered a broken nose and shoulder and numerous cuts and bruises.
The police were called by her lawyer. The imam allegedly refused to let police officers into his home, but they forced their way past him because they feared the woman's life was in danger. She's now under police protection.
The woman, who was the mother of one of the Sheikh's ten children, apparently took some of his lectures to heart and told Sheikh Abu Adam she wanted to live a more 'western' lifestyle. That's what allegedly brought on the beating, which was accompanied by the appropriate Qu'rannic verses about what happens to disobedient Muslim women and how their husbands need to knock some sense into them.
I predict one of those 'I divorce thee' text messages in the near future.

Do as I say, not as I do. The religion of pieces.
