Obama's Speech - Lackluster, Dead And Unconvincing

President Obama accepted the nomination of his party last night, and all eyes were on him. If he was going to make the case for a second term, this was the time.

He failed miserably.

Even stalwarts on the angry Left like Michael Tomasky in the Daily Beast called the speech dull, pedestrian and lackluster.

The president simply sounded like he was phoning it in. Perhaps he was still angry over the campaign's inability to even come close to filling Bank of America's 78,000 seats with screaming ObamaBots and the move to the much smaller Time Warner Cable Arena with the rest of the peons probably didn't improve his mood any.

Part of the reason, as I guessed last night was that Bill Clinton took all the oxygen out of the room and completely overshadowed him, which, as I speculated, is exactly what Mr. Bill intended with an eye towards 2016 and a Hillary candidacy.

And part of the reason is that after 4 years of failure, the same old platitudes and unicorn dust simply don't work so well anymore except on the True Believers. And they're becoming a declining species.

It amounted to the president talking about these wonderful plans he has without any idea on how he plans to accomplish them - at least none he articulated last night.

I can say I want to see gasoline at 20 cents a gallon, a free college degree for anyone who wants one and a free netflix account for every home, but unless I give you some kind of idea of how I'm going to accomplish all that, does it mean anything? Of course not.

What was left was president Obama telling everyone that things were going to be fine, but he just needed more time.In other words, he wanted four more years to try and keep the promises he hadn't kept during the last four.

It amounted to a pathetic plea for one more chance, and not a very convincing one.

Which is just my way of saying I liked the president's speech just fine. It couldn't happen to a more deserving fellah.

Lowlights? Too many to list, but here are a few:

  • The president equating the leftist values he's championing with "the sort of values my grandfather defended as a soldier in Patton's army", this equating the Republicans with the Nazis in a way that was lost on none of his audience.

  • The usual lies about tax cuts form someone who has already put ion place plans that will substantially raise taxes on the middle class and working families. like ObamaCare.

  • Obama equating himself with FDR, saying " It will take more than a few years for us to solve challenges that have built up over decades. It'll require common effort, shared responsibility, and the kind of bold, persistent experimentation that Franklin Roosevelt pursued during the only crisis worse than this one." Translation? 'I really have no clue what I'm doing, but give me four more years to tinker around and experiment.'

  • The blathering on about renewable energy when gas prices - and the accompanying rise in prices of food and manufactured goods - are at an all time high thanks to this president's ridiculous energy policies.

There's plenty more, but why bother?

I liked the president's speech just fine. And I'm looking forward to hearing more just like it from now until November.

In 2008 the American people voted for a man who has absolutely no regard for human life if that life is an impediment to the agenda. The meeting between himself and the prime minister confirmed that fact. The Israelis are now staring into the face of evil – a selfishness and disregard that is stunning in its scope and singular purpose.

NO. This old Jew has some fight in him yet! This old Jew is at war against this evil! Yes, I am tired…bent, fearful, sick, – but I will not simply allow the world of my children and grandchildren and their children and grandchildren to once again be given over to the corruption of appeasement! NO. NOT THIS TIME.

Wow, what could Obama have done to provoke this response? Imagination fails me.

Stedra, I doubt the supposed 'source' used in this piece, especially since the last time Barack Obama and Benyamin Netanyahu met face to face was well over a year ago when Netanyahu was in America.

The sentiments expressed are another thing entirely.

We are, after all, talking about a man who fought vigorously to allow doctors to murder babies that survive an abortion by denying them medical care, and voted for it three times.

This is not your average breed of human, and given his amply demonstrated hostility towards Israel (which he regards as a 'problem' for America rather than a valuable ally) it's not to much of a stretch to see a man like that being willing to see Israel absorb substantial casualties for his own political agenda.

Also, from what I hear, the reaction of the Israelis to messages conveyed by them from President Obama via our ambassador there were not too far off either.

Follow-up to the above story:

http://theulstermanreport.com/2012/09/12/wall-street-insider-sadly-every-concern-about-this-man-calling-himself-obama-has-proven-true-and-far-worse-is-yet-to-come/

. The Prime Minister indicated his own government was unwilling to take that risk, and was preparing to take very specific measures to try and ensure Iran was not given that option to do so. And to that Obama, this man so tragically elected president, to that he replied to Netanyahu to not make this an election issue for him? To not make it something that might take away Jewish votes from him?

Starting World War III is a pre-election headache that Obama can do without.
