Rick Perry's Officially In

http://race42012.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/Rick-perry3.jpg

Saturday's scheduled announcement is just going to be a formality, according to Governor Perry's spokesman Mark Miner.

This is the first time anyone connected with Governor Perry has said for the record that Perry is officially going to be a presidential candidate.

Perry's announcement comes with the Iowa Straw Poll just around the corner. It will be interesting to see what he says on Saturday.

The GOP race just got a lot more interesting.

Perry is a not a boon to the Republicans. He threatened to succeed Texas from the Union, which is unconstitutional, he just held a prayer vigil where Jews were not invited and quite frankly the Texas educational system is one of the worst in the nation. Just because he has some job growth. Yeah, if my state didn't provide any services whatsoever, paid next to nothing in job income and had no income tax, corporations and those that wanted to take advantage of others would flock to my state too. There is no Texas miracle, its just not as bad as everywhere else, at least for the time being, because oil is still big in Texas.

If he is the nominee Obama will be reelected because the independents will run the heck away. They will stay home on election day and only the party loyalists will come out to vote.He is the worst thing to happen to the Republican field to date, well other than Ron Paul, but nobody gives Ron Paul much of a shot at anything. In simple language Perry is a putz.

We'll see.

The prayer vigil was a Christian event, and I doubt that Jews were officially 'unwelcome'...but just as you might not hang out at an Easter service or a non-Jew come to Shacaris or Simcha Torah under ordinary circumstances, Jews were not particularly in evidence. He had a perfect right to be there.

I also know that Perry has made a number of pro-Israel statements, that he considers himself a pro-Israel evangelical and that he's on good terms with Pastor John Hagee, whom I consider a Hero of Zion and a living Tzaddick.I doubt that would be the case if Perry had a 'Jewish problem.'

The Texas school system is certainly not the worst in the nation (It's actually DC) and not even closer to the bottom, and Texas prosperity depends a lot more on low taxes and government regulation than it does on oil...especially with Obama's de facto moratorium on drilling in the Gulf in place.

I'm also not sure the independents will stay away. He's polling pretty well amongst them right now.

Sarah Palin would be my first choice for the 2012 nomination, but let's be cautious and see how Perry develops.

Regards,
Rob

it's amazing i can disagree with I/P about so much and come to the same conclusion.

as for the state of texas education, iowahawk has already addressed that.

and this gem:
Yeah, if my state didn't provide any services whatsoever,
your source for that would be??????

and again:
paid next to nothing in job income and had no income tax, corporations and those that wanted to take advantage of others would flock to my state too

capitalism does have it's shortcomings.
living in a nanny state does have it's advantages. i guess all that crap being written about what's going on in the UK is just that. ff sticks up for california all the time. i guess you should stick up for your progressive unionized state employee thugs as well. it just says something about our differences when you can put a negative spin on something like this. and no, it was not perry that did this.

and then:
its just not as bad as everywhere else, at least for the time being, because oil is still big in Texas.

i started to ask, "what the hell does that mean", but i guess it's just I/Pspeak for "i hope texas goes down the tubes just like everyplace else". my how sweet.

as for your comment regarding secession, who gives a shit if it's unconstitutional or not. it will only be if the act fails. separating from the english was just as illegal.
lincoln is the one who made it illegal.
if texas goes i hope oklahoma follows suit. i'll be right in front on that one.
somebody once said something to the effect of, paraphrasing here, that whenever any form of government becomes destructive, it is the right of people to abolish it.

as for perry, he's a slug. or a wet blanket, whichever. at least we agree on that.

I listened to his announcement today. I thought he was pretty dynamic. We need somebody that is not afraid to call out BamBam on all his BS. McSame lost because he failed to take off the gloves. We need a Republican candidate that will take off the gloves, and bash BamBam in the nose. Call him out on being a Marxist and paling around with terrorists, and being a weak ineffective leader who snuggles our enemies and disses our allies. I think Perry can do that. I am not inspired by Obamney. For a run down on the other candidates, see FF's analysis of the debate, I think it's pretty well spot on.

If Sarah is getting into the race she needs to get into the race. If she's not, she needs to endorse her horse.
