Journalists in Palestinian Authority receive death threats from terrorists

Ah well, pimping ain't easy, sometimes.

The Freedom Fighter has noted on more than one occasion the cynical manipulation of the press by the Palestinian Authority. The game went like this: if al-Reuters, CNN, AP, AFP and similar outfits wanted access to Arafatistan, they were required to hire Palestinian reporters, all of whom had to be pre-approved by the regime and all of whom were subject to pressure and threats for reporting the wrong stuff.

A classic example of this was the suppression of films and pictures the Palestinian celebrations on the occasion of 9/11. One could verify this by noting that virtually every story originating from the Palestinian areas has a Palestinian byline.

In contrast the Israelis gave virtual carte-blanche to the Western press, many of whom enjoyed the amenities of Israel for themselves and their families at the same time they were writing viciously slanted news stories and commentaries damning their host country!

Now it appears that a number of death threats against journalists have surfaced because of the coverage of the anarchy, corruption and lawlessness evident in the PA since the Gaza withdrawal.Jerusalem Post | Breaking News from Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish World

Apparently the threats originated from the usual suspects;A journalist who asked not to be named told The Jerusalem Post that groups affiliated with Hamas and Fatah were behind the threats. "We are taking these threats very seriously," he said. "Many of the journalists are afraid."

Gee, guys, shouldn't you have known better? You can't pimp for a Palestinian state for YEARS and then suddenly think you can opt out and tell the truth about things for a change...not in Arafatistan, anyway. Better stick to the script. Or else someone could get hurt.
