There's been an influx of Brits lately taking it upon themselves to be going around `endorsing' Barack Hussein Obama as our president.
This started with the MTV video Awards, hosted by one `comedian' Russel Brand who came out with this little gem:
"PLEASE ELECT BARACK OBAMA. Please! On behalf of the world. Some people, I think they’re called racists, say that America is not ready for a black president. But I know America to be a forward-thinking country, right. Because, otherwise, you know, would you have let that retarded cowboy fellow be president for eight years?"
Classy, no? Especially coming from someone who's idea of humor is dressing up like Osama bin-Laden after the 9/11 attacks, ho ho.
Do us a favor and dispose of your trash at home please, instead of dumping it here.
Next, we have your BBC. They had the nerve to run a 'world poll' showing how much everyone but his fellow countrymen prefer The Chosen One as our president.Anyone who's paying attention knows the Beeb admittedly hates anything to do with America, and it's not like they're a serious news outlet anymore like they used to be. But you'd think they would have the common courtesy to let us run our own affairs without sticking their large noses in.Whom do they think they are?
Last but not least, there's Gordon Brown....YOUR PRIME MINISTER! I could laugh off the antics of an idiot Vid-jock and the sort of drivel that gets run in the Beeb and al-Guardian,but the idea that the most craven PM in Britain's history has the nerve to try and weigh in on our elections and tell us who we should elect as our president?
I mean, I never thought much of Gordon Brown anyway. Cowardly, yes, but I never thought he was that thick, to take sides in an election before the results are even close to being announced.
Enough of this garbage, I tell you. If you want Barack Obama in charge so badly, you take him and welcome. Given Obama's views on national defense and his socialist 'tax-`em-until-they-bleed economic views,I'm sure he'd fit in better on your side of the pond anyway. But a lot of us have rather different feelings on the matter and have a rather jaundiced view of a bunch of stinkin' furriners telling us whom we should elect and inferring that we're racists and cretins if we don't 'vote the right way.'

Thanks for your interest, cousins, but we grubby colonials have been doing fairly well the last 232 years on our own without your meddling in our affairs. Let's keep it that way.
Oh,by the way, Mel Phillips, Lady Thatcher and a select few others are exempt from the above and can weigh in whenever they like. Considering the state of much of Britain these days, they might as well change teams and actually be Americans.

Please don't equate the actions of our political/media scum with the UK itself.
A message to the US from little ol' England. Vote McCain-Palin!
Best wishes,
Your Limey Cousin
A great post Robert. I am not surprised at the chattering class reaction, really. After all, they like Obama, are elite citizens of the world also.
Believe me Cousins, I know how frustrated a lot of my friends in the UK are with what Sandy aptly referred to the current political/media scum.
But trust me, a lot of Americans, even Democrats got quite ticked off at the items I mentioned in the piece. The idea of foreigners weighing in on who we should pick as our president...
Personally, I'm hoping for the best for the UK, perhaps when the Tories take over and/or Britain gets over its EU fixation.
What say you, Tony? Does Cameron have the stuff to pull it off?
All Best,
Rob
Many of us are becoming Americans these days, andmany more are thinking about it; the people whose opinions you mention are among the reasons. They have all but destroyed our country with its absorbtion into the EU. Their anti-Americanism will be reflected in the EUSSR's foreign policy as soon as they manage to get one, which won't be long. Happy days. At least you lot know that if Obama's a disaster he'll lose the next election. We've had a disastrous series of pro-EU governments but they just don't offer us a choice about it.
Thank you for your support across the pond. Come on over the water's fine...and I'm thinking we will have domestically drilled oil before too terribly long. Come and enjoy the profits and probably a booming economy. I'll bet we would like some real fish and chips over here. We always need more smart, down to earth hard working people!
Best regards,
Gail S
To Sandy, Tony Sharp and EU007: You are more than welcome to relocate to "G*d's great experiment" and breathe the REAL air of freedom. Like someone once said (don't remember who) "if you have a strong back, we can use ya". Your skills and talents will surely find a home here. Wages with low taxes, doctors without lines and the protection of the most powerful military the world has ever seen, and will ever see.
And......you can have guns!
