Ah, you mention the euphemistically-termed 'Fairness Doctrine' ! Re this subject, I have not a whit of sympathy for the Republicans. Not the tiniest whit of sympathy. I don't know what a whit is, or what it looks like, but I do know, with metaphysical certitude, no less, that I have not even a microscopic whit of sympathy for the Republicans re this issue or anything relating to the FCC censorship agency. Au contraire, I hope that the Republicans suffer from this regulation. Nay, I hope that they really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really suffer! For 4 years under Bush, Jr, they had everything : the House, Senate, Presidency. They could have abolished oodles & noodles of stuff. They could have abolished the unconstitutional federal DEA & all that failed drugs-prohibition socialist tripe. They could have abolished the unconstitutional, immoral, anti-Christian Jimmy Carter crap military slavery sign-up on the kids. (I suspect that Carter hates the Quakers & the Amish & the Mennonites as much as he obviously hates the Jews.) They could have immediately terminated the moneys for the tobacco-farm owners. They could have abolished the FCC. At the very least, they could have abolished the nepotistic censorship board of the FCC, which had, during that era, members with names like Powell. But they not only did not bother to abolish that ridiculous dumping ground for old political hacks & their relatives, they not only did not even take in the sails on that de-facto extorter of money from television stations, they, in fact, multiplied the powers & extorting abilities of that typical federal Frankenstein's Monster. Do you recall that silly brouhaha re some performer at some sporting event in early 2004? Since I only follow baseball, hockey, & the Olympics, I can't say that I witnessed the event. Apparently, during an entertainment break during 1 of the innings during a sporting event, a female performer whom I've never heard of before either intentionally plotted to have a 'wardrobe-malfunction' which temporarily exposed 1 or both of her breasts, or had a genuine accident resulting in this fake news event. In reaction, both political parties engaged in a mad dash to multiply the powers & fining abilities of the FCC. They made individual stations even more vulnerable to FCC censorship & bullying. Most stations are only marginally viable & do not have the resources to meticulously censor & anticipate everything which is funneled to them via the networks, particularly live events. Are they supposed to be psychics? Both parties & both presidential candidates joined the socialist parade. Both Bush, Jr, & Senator Kerry (he voted for the strengthened censorship & FCC bill in the Senate) did. There was a former Libertarian Party candidate & future candidate for the 2008 Republican Party presidential nomination whose name I can't recall (he had 2 1st names, something Ron) from Texas who, in the House, spoke out against this travesty in the form of legal nannyism & proposed abolishing the FCC, but that was about it. So, I hope that the Republicans are stung really badly by this Orwellian 'Fairness Doctrine'. Perhaps the next time they control Congress, they might abolish this censorship-board monstrosity. Abolish, not 'cut', 'rationalise', 'reform', or any of that other codswallop! Apologies for the length of this letter. I realise that I must sound like a skipping vinyl record at times in these letters. Best Regards.

Hey, it worked for Enron. Don't knock it until you have tried it. That's the way of Unity and Hope.
