Israel has discovered a huge natural gas deposit about 90 kilometers off of its shores in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Conservative estimates put a value on the discovery of at the very least at $27 billion. Not only is it capable of meeting all of Israel's natural gas needs for decades, but it has the potential of changing the entire economic and strategic situation in the Middle East. Israel now is a high tech, highly developed country that is resource poor but has depended on the ingenuity of its people - its human resources - to move its economy. One can only imagine what Israel will be able to do with energy wealth in the same league as the Arabs.
For instance, given the way Russia has been playing cat and mouse with Europe using Russia's control of gas supplies, we might just see the EU discovering a new found love for Jews and Israel as Israel develops into an alternative source for them..just as a coincidence, I'm sure.
And we might also see American energy companies and even politicians kowtowing to Israel the way they've kowtowed to the Arabs for years.
Presently, Israel buys a great deal of its natural gas from Egypt, which badly needs the revenue. Once this field is developed, they will not need to...which will also affect the relationship between the two countries.

For those not into the Bible, this is prophetic.
Yes...
"by the God of thy father who shall help thee; and by the ALMIGHTY who shall bless thee, with blessings of HEAVEN above, blessings of the DEEP [the Oil/Gas of Israel] THAT LIETH BENEATH; ... they shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of him that was separated from his brethren." (Genesis 49:25-26)
And of course,
"And of Asher he [Moses] said, blessed above sons; let him be acceptable to his brethren, and let him dip his foot in oil.” (Deuteronomy 33:24.)
"Of the Land of Israel, Moses sung (Deuteronomy 32:13): “He made him ride on the high places of the earth, and he ate of the produce of the fields; and he made him suck honey out of rock, and oil out of the flinty rock.”
And this...
"They shall call the people unto the mountain; there they shall offer sacrifices of righteousness: for they shall suck of the abundance of the seas, and of treasures hid in the sand.”(Deuteronomy 33:19)
Thanks for dropping by and reminding us from whence all Blessings come.

This is awesome and truly prophetic as mentioned above!! I've been anticipating something like this for years. It's cool to see it come to pass. I agree that this has the potential to radically alter the political situation in the Middle East and around the world. Hopefully the next thing we will see is Israel finally finishing Hamas, Hezbollah, and the other terrorists who are bent on their destruction.
Uh, no, that's not the prophecy I had in mind! It's the stage-setting for Ezekiel 38 about a confederation of nations that include Iran, Northern Africa, Russia, Turkey & some Arab nations to plunder Israel's wealth. Coincidentally, the same day this report came out in news, "The Hindu" reported that Russia was planning naval bases in Iran, Libya & Yemen. Funny thing is Bible literalists in the 19th century had to fend off skeptics who argued not to take Ez 38 literally since (1) Palestine didn't have such resource, & (2) the named enemies in the confederation weren't contiguous. Bible, correct again.
Good Morning Cindy, and thanks for dropping by.
Interesting and it certainly fits.
As for the Russian ports, I reported on that story here at JoshuaPundit...actually, Russia has bases planned in Iran (on the Perisan Gulf and Caspian Sea)and Syria ( at Tartus) and a Russian naval taskforce including an aircraft carrier just visited Tartus, after performing naval exercises with our supposed 'ally' Turkey.
As you may or may not know, Turkey under the Erdogan government and the AKP is becoming increasingly anti-US and Islamist, another story I've been covering here at JoshuaPundit.
Regards,
Rob
This is why I love JoshuaPundit. I don't get by as often as I'd like, but I do have you on my Google homepage precisely because you're so on top of things. Thanks, Cindy
I was thinking of Eze 38-39 also.
