Senate Democrats have blocked a GOP attempt to require next year's census forms to ask people whether they are a U.S. citizen.
The proposal by Louisiana Republican Sen. David Vitter was aimed at excluding immigrants from the population totals that are used to figure the number of congressional representatives for each state.
Pretty much straight party line, 60-39.
Yes,Obama wants us to definitely make sure we count illegal aliens when we portion out those House seats and draw up districts.

This is extremely short sighted thinking on the part of the Democrats. Yes, it may help them win elections in the short term but many of the people coming here don't really like us any way and would wish to do us harm. If this continues, eventually one of them will succeed. Also, the people coming here who don't like us have their own ideas about what our country should be like and in many cases this may not be compatible with the agendas of either the Democrats or the big business interests who want them here.
The Democrats and the big business interests may eventually find they are unable to control the illegals they brought here. This becomes especially problematic with a worn down military and inferior intellegence services.
My goal, which I think should be the goal of all Americans, is to ensure national security WHILE completely ending the war in Afghanistan and Iraq and withdrawing ALL American personnel out of those countries.
Actually asking people who are here if they are legal would probably be one of the first steps to finding out who is here legally and who is not. This would go a ways in helping us identify who the enemies and potential enemies are. Anyone who cares deeply about America should be supporting Mr. Vitter's proposal.
Of course I'm beginning to think there are many in Congress and America who do not care about America. Given the jaundiced view of America's history that is taught in public schools and universities today about America's past, it is not hard to understand why there are many today who do not think much of their country. At the very least, it tends to lead to a people who lack the moral confidence in themselves or their nation to vigorously defend it.
