Martha Coakely and Barack Obama failed to fill the hall at a Boston University no less, only drawing 2,000 or so in a hall that seats 3,000.
And wonder of wonders, in the midst of a dull speech where the president did his usual class warfare number, he was actually heckled for 3-4 minutes:
The scene was entirely different over at Scott Brown's rally in Worchester:
“It’s an absolute mob scene. The police have closed off the streets. It’s mind blowing. The hall is already full, and it holds 3,000 people. There may be another 1,000 people outside.”
Meanwhile, reader Sean Fitzpatrick writes: “Pictures don’t do justice. Nothing like this in Mass since JFK. Worcester rally starts in thirty minutes and the streets are already packed.” Here’s a pic.
The word is that Obama's advisers are already telling him that Coakely is toast, and the polls pretty much all show Brown ahead.
It's by no means a time to get complacent, however. The margin of victory has to be great enough to preclude the usual Dem shenanigans...or as Hugh Hewitt once put it, if it's not close, they can't cheat.
Those of you in the Bay State that haven't already done so, now would be a splendid time to volunteer to help get the vote out.
