White family attacked, knocked unconscious at gas station for being in “the wrong neighborhood”
Picture this if you will. A black family pulls into a gas station in a white neighborhood to get some gas. While Dad is in line waiting to pay for his gas, he gets told by a white male that he's in the wrong neighborhood and isn't going to make it out again, and then gets physically assaulted and beaten unconscious, ending up with a broken eye socket, a broken nose and numerous cuts and lacerations. His wife, who ran over to help her husband likewise gets punched unconscious and suffers a mild concussion, and the teenage daughter is likewise hit in the face and knocked to the ground.
There are numerous witnesses, and when the police come they're able to pinpoint one white male as the original assailant on the father, and two other whites as the people primarily responsible for attacking the two black women.
What do you think the press coverage would be like for a story like that? Do you have any doubt whatsoever that it would be national headlines, that Attorney General Eric Holder and the Obama Justice Department would be surging to put together a case to charge the assailants with a hate crime? And that even President Obama, our post racial president would weigh in, as he has so many times before? That Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton would be on the scene like sharks on a bleeding carcass?
But change the word 'black' to the word 'white' in the above first two paragraphs and the story changes significantly.White victims, black perpetrators? Nothing to see here. No national coverage, just a local crime story. No action from the Department of Justice and certainly no hate crime either. Just one perpetrator booked on second degree battery and the other two merely given summons to appear, the equivalent of a traffic ticket.
Attorney General Eric Holder famously said that in America, 'we're cowards on race'. He was certainly correct on that, but not in the way he meant it.
Repetitive disclaimer # 3,123 - I'm not John Derbyshire, no, all blacks aren't criminals (remember Reginald Denny?) and no, all blacks aren't racist, although in my experience far too many tend to see everything through a prism of race.
But the utter hypocrisy of the media and the elites needs to be pointed out at every opportunity.
It's nothing less than racism cubed.
