As you recall, the current occupant of the White House decided that those knuckle draggers stupid enough to serve their country in our military and get wounded ought to kick in for his socialist realism by paying for their own medical treatment through their own private insurance, instead of the VA providing it free of charge.
The VA met with the Prevaricator in Chief and were basically told tough tofu, so they got on the phones to a number of Democrat Congressmen... as apparently, so did a number of you.
Well, that was quick:
President Barack Obama reversed course Wednesday on a highly charged proposal to have private insurance companies, instead of the Veterans Affairs Department, pay for veterans' service-related injuries.
The proposed policy shift was aimed at recouping $540 million, but it risked souring goodwill of veterans, an enormous political constituency. And veterans groups, learning of the possibility last month, had quickly mobilized to oppose it. {..}
Later, at another meeting with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), they were assured the president had changed his mind, said Jim King, executive director of Amvets.
"Our message to the president was simple and direct: that our government must not abandon its moral responsibility to the men and women who have sacrificed so much for our freedoms," said David Gorman, executive director of Disabled American Veterans.
At the White House, press secretary Robert Gibbs issued a statement confirming the reversal, saying the president had listened closely to the veterans' concerns and ordered the proposal "dropped."
Gee, if you click on my original story, apparently president Obama wasn't doing much 'listening' yesterday:
"It became apparent during our discussion today that the President intends to move forward with this unreasonable plan," said Commander David K. Rehbein of The American Legion. "He says he is looking to generate $540-million by this method, but refused to hear arguments about the moral and government-avowed obligations that would be compromised by it."
What changed for President Zero and his co-conspirators was the vets and those of us who honor them letting Congress know that this was one mugging we weren't going to allow without a fight.
This is a natural issue for 2010, and the GOP needs to have the stones to run with this and remind every vet and those who care about them what Obama tried to do to them.
Back in my old music biz days, there was a well known management company who's two partners were universally known behind their backs as Heartless and Gutless, a play on the initials of their last names. Had B. Hussein Obama been working for them, they could have had two for the price of one.
Absolutely disgraceful.

hussein will catch hell from moveon and code pink for backing down on this.
the GOOP (not a typo) have already forgotten about this, as they don't want to get the current occupant of the white house mad at them.
hussein will use this in 2012 as motivation. if he allows this country to have an election, or if this country even wants an election by then. hussein will use this to motivate code pink and moveon to get behind him because this time he won't back down, in the second of his four terms as president.
this has nothing to do with the veterans anyway. it only has to do with keeping people from volunteering for the military in the first place, thereby continuing to dismantle this country one piece at a time.
just like the order to not allow companys like georgia arms to recycle military shell casings. he apparently backed off on that. his aim was not to limit gun laws but to prevent anyone from getting ammunition for said firearms.
saul alinsky 101.
Very astute of you, Louie..I think the idea was exactly to prevent people from volunteering, or to opt out if they're up for re-enlistment. Whoops, I almost called the POTUS a foul name...just caught myself in time.
I think this president ultimately plans to 'replace' our military - or at least most of it - with his own Brownshirts if he can pullit off.
I heard about the Georgia Arms thing, just didn't have a chance to stick it up here today.
And yeah, I think there's going to be an election in 2012..one way or the other.
OT, as well as a cheap shot, if i may.
the premise of what i'm going to say may be all wrong.
i don't watch network news.
haven't in 10 years.
when i first heard this issue come up, i thought mccain would be out front and center calling out hussein.
however, jmac seems to be also showing his stripes as well.
nada.
zip.
zilch.
nothing.
that i have heard.
maybe if a conservative president had done this, mccain would have been all over it.
but we have a marxist and everything is bliss.
like i said, the only place i get any type of news is on the blogs, and i haven't seen a thing about jmac saying anything about this.
