Ah, Yes..About That 'Humanitarian Crisis' In Gaza

The above video is a promotional advertisement done by the Roots Club in Gaza City. It was made exactly one year ago, in May 2009. That was right after Operation Cast Lead when the Palestinians were supposedly starving because of the 'blockade'.

Sure looks like they're starving, doesn't it?

Some things to watch for are shots of Ismail Haniyeh, Hamas Kingpin and Mahmoud Abbas dining together in the restaurant... and a quick shot of one of the waiters delivering an entree containing what looks like some extremely non-halal shrimp!

Oh,and enjoy the shots of the actors in the kiddie playground dressed up as Farfour and the other genocidal Hamas TV characters.

The large cylindrical objects the waiters are bringing over that look like large coffee urns are nargilah, water pipes available for a nice after dinner smoke-o.

Tom Gross posted the video, and he notes:
In case anyone doubts the authenticity of this video (which is up on the club’s own website), I just called the club in Gaza City and had a nice chat with the manager who proudly confirmed business is booming and many Palestinians and international guests are dining there.

Yep...a real humanitarian disaster. Quick, send an emergency shipment of of digestive pastilles and bi-carbonate of soda!

(hat tip, Carl

please donate...it helps me write more gooder!

Maybe western media should actually play what is shown on arabic tv. This is not the first time I haev seen all the food stuffs and merchandise for sale in Gaza. But then again how would the media pick on Israel if it told the truth. Tell mw how is the terrorism of destroying the summer camp Israel's fault and I heard according to Freedom house domestic violence in palestinian homes is also the fault of the Jews.

Oh...because it just is the Jew's fault, y'know? Just because.

My father (z"l) was a union printer who worked at major newspapers his whole working life and showed that what generally happens is that reporters, with rare exceptions, 'script' stories and simply omit any facts that don't reflect the narrative. Mostly being lefties, they're particularly prone to that kind of tunnel vision.

In this particular story,( the Israeli-Palestinian conflict) the narrative is 'Jooos evil occupiers versus suffering freedom lovin' Palestinians.

Even a casual look at the facts tells anyone with even a semblance of objectivity or regard for truth what a crock that is, but there are still a number of reporters and commentators who parrot it.

I'll let you speculate as to their motivations.

Rob

PS - Great job on your blog, congratulations. I've added it to my blogroll.

PA President Mahmoud Abbas and former Gaza strongman Mohamed Dahlan are both in that video. They were both kicked out of Gaza by Hamas in 2007. The video is from 2005.

Hi David,
Please read the article a little closer.

The video is currently on the Restaurant's site, the Roots Club is still open and the owner reports business is booming.

Also, Abbas has been back to Gaza since 2007, in an attempt to negotiate a settlement with Hamas. Ismail Haniyeh, Hamas PM in in the video as well, and given the Islamic dress of most of the women in the video, it's pretty obvious that a number of shots are more current.

Rob
