Passed, 61-37. Thank you, Senators Specter, Snowe and Collins. Our grandchildren will be working to pay this debt off, you spineless, lackwit weasels.

Those negotiations, which Reid said would start Tuesday afternoon, could drive up the price tag of the bill as each chamber fights for its priorities. The House version of the bill is $819 billion. The Senate version is $838 billion.
Hey, I got an idea. Why don't we just combine the two and get a max cap of 1.657 trillion and get rid of all that nasty "negotiations" that would delay things?
It's a good deal.

In theory, if the Republicans or a new party who is fiscally conservative wins the 2010 elections, could they undo some of this horrendous bill?
As I've been saying here and elsewhere, America is largely finished as a major world power. I think this is likely the final nail in the proverbial coffin.
I'm generally not one who is given to conspiracay theories but it really does seem the only way anyone would vote for this bill is if they really do hate America and want to see its citizens suffer and to see its global position destroyed. Either these people are idiots or they are evil.
God willing the country can survive until the next election cycle and we can get better leadership in place who can undo some of this massive spending.
