Massive Anti-Obama Protests In DC

When even Pravda-on-the Hudson refers to a 'sea of protesters' and the WAPO cites 'tens of thousands' you know it's too big to be ignored.The actual count is estimated at two million.

The American people are up in arms and they want the president and Congress to know they don't approve of their spendthrift, neo-Marxist ways:

The crowd -- loud, animated and sprawling -- gathered at the West Front of the Capitol after a march along Pennsylvania Avenue NW from Freedom Plaza. Invocations of God and former president Ronald Reagan by an array of speakers drew loud cheers that echoed across the Mall. On a windy, overcast afternoon, hundreds of yellow "Don't Tread on Me" flags flapped in the breeze.

"Hell hath no fury like a taxpayer ignored," declared Andrew Moylan, head of government affairs for the National Taxpayers Union, urging protesters to call their representatives. The demonstrators roared their approval.

"We own the dome!" they chanted, pointing at the Capitol. {...}

"You will not spend the money of our children and our grandchildren to feed an overstuffed government," Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.) said of the Obama administration, drawing raucous applause.

"Our history is decorated by those who endured the burden of defending freedom," Price said. "Now a new generation of patriots has emerged. You are those patriots."
{...}

The White House declined to comment on the demonstration, but Democrats said the rally and other protests in recent months represent a small minority of voters and will not slow Obama's proposals.

Two million people just a small minority? I sincerely hope the arrogant acolytes of the Obama Administration keep thinking that way.

This isn't like busing in ACORN thugs or SEIU goons. These people paid their own way to DC, and there are plenty more of them back where they came from who weren't able to show up.And they vote, religiously.The two million or so that showed up in DC probably represent five to ten times as many voters back home, if not more.

Obama has apparently made up his mind to shove ObamaCare through. I wonder if Democrat legislators watching this are prepared to get bounced out of their seats next year in order to go along with the agenda.

In ordinary circumstances, I would think that Congressional critters would not be dumb enough to try and shove this through given the massive unease the public has with it and knowing it would place their positions in jeporady. Unfortunately these are not ordinary times. As such, I think they are going to go through with this regardless.

The voters can completely change the House of Representatives every two years. As such, in theory, we should be able to undo the harmful actions of the previous legislature. Unfortunately once Government programs get enacted it seems to be next to impossible to get rid of them.

I hope the new Congress will be able to undo what the current Congress and Administration have done. There will need to be enough of a change in leadership in the House and Senate to be able to override Presidential vetoes in order to make this happen.

Even if we can undo this, another year is a long time. Also, if we are unable to get enough new memebers in the House and Senate to override Presidential vetoes, another three years is even longer. All the while the nation is being run into the ground and foreign and domestic enemies are growing stronger while all of this is happening and we are growing weaker. In other words, a year, two years, or three more years of this may be too much to overcome. I pray not.

I don't think that this many people ever turned out to protest any thing George W. Bush ever did. The amazing thing about this is that the opposition to Bush was organzied at the highest levels of the Democratic party and the Government beuracracy. These protests have no such organiztion. In fact, the Democratic party, the Government beuracracy, and to an extent the Republican party leadership are doing every thing they can to stop these protests. This makes this all the more remarkable.
