You'll remember that after the Haitian earthquake, the Israelis were first on the scene, getting rescue and medical teams to the island within four days, airlifting an entire IDF field hospital across the sea and performing in ways that even had the normally anti-Israel CNN singing their praises.
Well the Israelis are back again...this time to fight a cholera epidemic in Haiti that has already killed almost 300 people, many of them children.
Cholera hasn't occurred in Haiti for years, but polluted water supplies,poor sanitation in the countryside and general devastation hav ebrought on a huge epeidemic that has now reached the outskirts of Port-Au-Prince, the capitol.
Cholera is highly contagious, so groups like Doctors Without Borders have actually been met with riots when they have tried to establish a cholera treatment center as it was preparing to open in the coastal city of St. Marc.
IsraAid is going in anyway to augment the teams already stationed there and assess what needs to be done. They're counting on the good will and trust the Israelis established in Haiti during the quake to enable them to establish a treatment center to fight the cholera epidemic.
