Update on Iran
Apparently, the Iranians dismissed the Bush administration's offer of direct talks as `more propaganda.'
President Bush said today that if Tehran sticks to its refusal to suspend uranium enrichment, the nuclear issue will go to the U.N. Security Council.
"The choice is up to the Iranians," Bush told reporters.
The five permanent Security Council members plus Germany meet today in Vienna to try and hammer out an acceptable offer to Iran.
My guess is that the Mullahs and their Russian allies want to see the West sweeten the offer a bit. I'll be very surprised if they turn it down outright.
Not that UN sanctions mean diddly squat, as we saw with Iraq.
Stay tuned....
