Cornelia, Mother of the Gracchi: Bookworm Room - Ms. Bookworm wrote a fascinating and far reaching piece on one of the icons of Roman womanhood, and used it to make some cogent points about feminism and the wife and mother as the cornerstone of society.
Congrats to Ms. Bookworm for a fine bit of writing!
In second place was Done With Mirrors: After Iraq Callimachus' poignant musing on what is in store for Iraq in the wake of the upcoming US pullout and what it means for US policy in the future. Well done, Callimachus!
For non-Council The winner was:
BLACKFIVE: COIN: The Gravity Well Grim's piece on new strategies in counter-insurgency warfare.
In second place was my own choice for non-Council post God Called: Laurie Kendrick a dialogue between the author and G-d that touches a great many bases.
